Umm... we've got six more transfer days.

14th, 18th, 21st, 24th, 25th, 28th.

They have processed all the way upto 8/20.

So i guess the balance of the 10 days upto 8/31 will probably be turned around in the six more transfer days.

Fingers crossed! My PD is Aug 26, GO August!kicking.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsI-134 Affidavit of Support, Co-Sponsor, Question 10

Yep, you would put your fiancee's name on your I-134, but your co-sponsor would leave it blank (because she has never filed an I129f petition for your fiancee).

For the relationship part, you would describe how your fiancee and sister are related - sister's fiancee is fine! :D :D :D

Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportsinterview is coming up...

What other financial evidence did you send as proof for the I134?

Did you send her your tax transcript? pay stubs? letter from employer?

Those should probably be enough.

:D Good luck to your fiancee!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsI'm so freaking confused

I was SO confused by all the conflicting info. They definitely need to update some of their stuff. C'mon Montreal!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsI'm so freaking confused

I am in the same boat - already submitted the DS-160 and am waiting.....but I have read conflicting information.  I am under the impression that I can just go ahead and sent in Packet 3 as soon as I have the info (waiting on fiance to finish the I-134 and gathering supporting evidence..grrr).  Is it necessary to wait for Montreal to send packet 3?

I sent packet 3 stuff before I received anything from Montreal. :D You don't actually need the I-134 stuff until the interview.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsI'm so freaking confused

So we got approved (NOA2) on June 16th- I called 2 weeks later and the NVC said that our case was received and will be forwarded to the consulate in the next few days. This past week, my fiance received a letter saying that the NVC had forwarded our case tot he consulate and in the mean time the beneficiary (me) could fill out form DS-160 online... Which I did a few days ago. I'm just confused as far as what I'm waiting for at this point... I'm assuming I'm waitting to receive something from the consulate via mail? Any idea of how long that usually takes? I'm just looking to find a bit more clarification on what to expect between now and when i'll be able to schedule an interview-plus when I pay the Visa Fee? I've already read the guides and stuff... just looking for some personal experiences to give me a bit more context. Thanks.

You are waiting for packet 3 and 4. You can actually start working on the stuff now. Every thing you need (instructions for compiling packet 3 and 4 etc) can be found on the Montreal consulate's website. You can download the instructions and get everything together and send it away even before you actually receive the mail notification. This guide is really helpful, although some of the forms have changed slightly. :D

I just went through the whole process as a Canadian, so if you have an specific questions, feel free to PM me. :D

Just wanted to say Good Luck to Curitiba2014 tomorrow!

Also, I'm going to go ahead and say Good Luck to techmedic and aruadha! I may be a little MIA for the next couple of weeks. I love all of you guys and I am so happy for you, but I need to distance myself a bit and try not to think about anything Immigration related. I am driving myself crazy. Hopefully I return with good news to share! No matter the outcome, we will still be together and love always finds a way :)

**Positive Thoughts**

Upcoming Interviews

When you fill out the marriage license you do have to give all your parents info. I did, at least. It was all on my birth certificate, though. Good luck! :D

I thought the same! I saw people on the Yelp review page for my clerk's office that you needed more. Some were asked for parents places of birth, address, social, etc! I am getting back into the phase of being overly paranoid about every little thing haha. I already have huge typed out checklists for everything we have to do once he gets here (find a new apartment, get him a SS number and a state ID, apply for marriage license, get joint bank account, change my name, etc!) and everything for AOS! I'm crazy! haha   It's kind of fun organizing it all though.. Wow, I really must be crazy!

Your income definitely meets the requirements.
Stephan and I did not have a bank letter or bank statements. Our co-sponsor did not either. I really have no idea why they are asking you for that. I would just send in your bank letter, and anything else you think would round out your financial picture. I can't imagine how frustrating this is for you. Boo Montreal!

.

Ok guys and gals I need your help getting to the bottom of this.

Question for the Montreal girls Rachel & Robynne.......

Did you both have the official letter from the bank stating your sponsor's date acct opened, amount of deposits for the last 12 months, and current balance for the interview? We are pretty sure this is what Montreal is asking for now since I did not give him this. If you guys both had it, maybe its a requirement. If you didn't have it, maybe they are trying to say my income is short and want to fill the gap with assets. If this is the issue, I have NO idea why the lady didn't catch this at the interview. I would appreciate any feedback so I can gauge where they are coming at with this :D

Per the guidelines my income is enough, but I have read threads where Montreal wants you to be well over the 125%.

Ok so I am going to just lay out my income situation and will welcome any feedback on this as well...

Income requirement for household of 3 at 125%: $24737

On the I-134 I put my base salary of $26915. I often work overtime so my income on my 2013 tax return is $27525. Since my salary fluctuates (some weeks I work 36 hours, some 40, some 44) my boss put that I work an average of 40 hours at $12.94 per hour ($12.94X40 hoursX52 weeks=$26915) on the employer letter. Which right now I have actually been working 44 hours per week for quite a while...making more. I run a small town Post Office and don't have an assistant right now.

The bank letter I just got yesterday states my deposits for the last 12 months of $30809 in checking and $4307 in savings and current balances of $560 and $2300. I have read they use a 1:3 ratio when using assets which would only add an extra $950 to my income amount using my current balances. ($26915+$950=$27865)

So basically...am I analyzing the ####### out of this for just missing a form? Or is my income an issue and I just don't see it? I feel like they would have said in the new email that my income doesn't meet the guidelines if this is the case.

Any opinions appreciated! :)

I brought my birth certificate, passport and I94, plus the ss5 form. He should check "legal alien allowed to work". I can't remember exactly what the officer asked for

I was going to have Rich bring his birth certificate, passport, and copy of his I-94. Did you bring anything else with you? Also, did you check "Legal alien allowed to work" or "legal alien NOT allowed to work." ?

For those who have tied the knot already.. When you went to apply for the marriage license, did you have to bring any of your visa information? Or just birth certificate and passport/form of ID?

I brought a birth certificate and my passport. That's all she asked for for me.

Hahaha +1 for the Arrested Development reference!! You do not need to be married to get SS, I have actually heard that it's caused problems for people going to get theirs after marriage as opposed to before.. But we all know people at the SS Office aren't the smartest or well informed bunch when it comes to K1! We are planning on going a week or so after Rich gets here, but before we are married. Hope they don't give us any trouble!

I was expecting trouble at the SS office because I'd heard that some officers were unaware that k1's could apply, but my officer was the NICEST and it all went off without a hitch! I was so happy.

Hi, everyone! Hope all is going well! 11 days until our wedding and we are super excited!!! I do have a question though! Ben went to apply for his social security number today and they told him that everything should already be taken care of and he should have it before the 24th (3 weeks after he arrived) I found this a little weird because I've read everywhere that you have to apply for one...anyone else hear or go through anything like this?? Thanks in advance!

Hmmm. I definitely had to go apply for mine. How would they have his information? Did he give them anything? Can you call the Social Security Office and ask?

I got mine quite quickly after applying and it made me feel like a real live American. :D Even more exciting, once I had it, I officially had my first piece of mail/proof of address, so I could go get a library card! Eeeee. :P

Thanks ladies. I am just so frustrated and pissed at this point I don't even know what to do. WHY was this not caught at the interview? And what exactly do they mean by assets? I didn't claim ANY assets on the I134. My income is sufficient plus I put what I have in savings. I am going to get a statement from the bank that everyone suggested on the thread I made and luckily it doesn't need an original signature so I can scan it and email it to him.....but is this what they're asking for? I hate how vague they are. This is pretty important so I wish they were more specific

Here is what they email said:

Hello,

Thank you for the inquiry.

After careful review of your file we have deemed that the following documents will be needed for the completion of your visa application.

1.      Proof of U.S. liquid assets from petitioner

Ugh! What?!?! I would send an official statement from my bank, along with the bank statements you already sent. That is ridiculous. What is Montreal doing?

I'm so sorry you have to go through this.

We are MARRIED! We had so much fun and after the stress of the whole k1 process, a nice, tiny, courthouse wedding was perfect. Our pals Aaron and Pearl were out witnesses, and took some photos for us. This one is my favourite, despite it being the most blurry of the bunch. It perfectly captures how the moment felt- a rush of pure bliss! :D <3

Congratulations everyone on getting approved - seems like almost everyone completed the K1 process at about the same time! jameswhunt - so sorry to hear all the trouble you're having!

Well - I'm typing this from our Michigan apartment, having settled in just fine - I've already been driving around and getting used to driving on the right! We got married just this last Tuesday and spent our honeymoon in Chicago - it was perfect! The next step is Adjustment of Status - and I've been procrastinating on getting that started because I've just been soaking up the USA :)

Immigration was no problem at all, the official just opened the envelope and went through my visa case before letting me in after 5 minutes.

Congratulations!!!!

I'm in Michigan too :D Ann Arbor. Where are you?

I'm starting to prep for AOS.... but the thought of more paperwork is not too enticing!

Well guys, I just got a message from USCIS saying my expedite request was denied.

"Due to the extremely high volume of requests for expedite we are having to strictly enforce the criteria guidelines."

I guess losing your house and belongings in a flood doesn't count as severe financial loss to an individual.

I keep waiting for the US Government to surprise me in a positive way but so far they just keep disappointing.

CanadaMontreal Interview Waiting Room Thread
I called today and got to speak with none other than Ms. Mean herself. I was calling to follow up on a couple conversations(both phone and email) I had last week about having an interview scheduled because of my IMBRA delay. Well meanie mcgee there insisted my case hadn't been held up by IMBRA(not sure what those 164 days were) and that I wouldn't have an interview until January or February. When I said that before I'd been promised a sooner date I had been told November or December, she said that was "just wrong!" I don't even know who or what to believe anymore, I'm so frustrated! An interview in February would mean that this whole process will have taken almost a year..I thought getting out of CSC was going to be the end of this #######, but it just keeps getting worse. Crazy to think that when we applied, we thought we'd be long married by now.

Sorry for the rant. I've got my fingers crossed for all of you waiting for your interviews :)

CanadaMontreal Interview Waiting Room Thread

My fiancee just called Montreal. She got the mean lady. Before she even asked anything, the woman asked for her ID number and said she was on the waiting list and that there's no date yet. She then said she had another question but the woman didn't seem to be in the best of moods, so she never asked.

Since the lady noticed that Ash called last week, we were wondering if they kept track of phone calls and if more phone calls = black-listing. Anyone know anything about this? Thanks

I don't know, I've wondered this myself. When I spoke with someone last week they made mention of checking my file "notes", so I suppose they can keep track of these things and make notes about it.

CanadaMontreal Interview Waiting Room Thread

Hey gang. My fiancee just called the consulate. Still no interview and the guy she spoke with didn't know where they at, as afar as processing goes. She then asked if she could request a date. The guy said she can, but he can't promise anything. She's requested a date for the week I'll be visiting, which is the week of Dec 10. She asked before about requesting a date and the lady said rather rudely, "You accomodate us, we don't accomodate you!" So that's that. Anyone else call?

ps. We've also decided to postpon wedding plans until March. We'd like to have been married yestreday but the dissapointment of canceling every month isn't fun.

There seems to be one really rude lady there, and then some really nice helpful people. The really rude lady told me last week that a computer does all the scheduling and that they can't do anything about interview dates. However, I've been in contact with them over the past few days and have been told that they are making exceptions/accomodations for those of us whose petitions were held up because of IMBRA. My case is being reviewed and possibly having an interview scheduled. I think however that you have to ask, possibly several times, as it wasn't until yesterday that someone said they were doing this for IMBRA cases and that they would pass my case along. She said she couldn't promise anything, so I emailed today to ask if a decision had been made and received this response: Please allow the caseworker to review the schedule and book your appointment. We have public during the morning and I cannot tell you when she will schedule your appointment. We are aware that you and many others have experienced this IMBRA delay and you will be scheduled soonest. An appointment letter will be mailed to you as soon as it is booked.
I'm not sure if anything will actually come of this, I'm trying not to get my hopes up. If anyone else is in the IMBRA boat I suggest calling, perhaps a couple of times if needed.

Just called Mtl. to make sure they received my packet 3 checklist back (which they did). Of course, I asked them for an estimate for an interview date ... they said in the New Year - January. :crying:

Think that it's healthy for me to keep ignoring this information and still hope for a November interview? Aaarrggghh! Who knew that this part would be more irritating than the initail approval???

Mo

I can't believe they told you that! I just received an email response from them this morning(I swear I'm not neurotic, I'm just concerned I won't get AP for a trip scheduled next spring if Montreal doesn't hurry up!) and they said they were "certain" I'd have an interview before the new year. My packet was received just a few days before yours, I wish they'd give us a straight answer!

CanadaDivorce and mariage certificate
At my interview there was a couple behind me who were there for a K3 and I heard the officer asking them for the USC's original marriage certificate, which they did not have(they did have the death certificate though). I was really worried for them(as they were) because the officer made it sound like it was really important. They ended up getting the visa, but I don't know what happened since I was interviewed first and left, so they might have found it or something. Anyway, my point is, they do ask for it in Vancouver so it would be best to have it.
