CanadaGoing to Canada in July
So this is probably the dumbest question in the world, but I'm posting it anyway.

My husband (Canadian, but US perm. resident) got his 10-year Green Card in 2006 and now has his Canadian Passport, which was lost for a while. I am a USC with a US passport. Anyway...we are flying to Canada this July for 8 days and for some reason I'm nervous about it (I'm a nervous person).

Once you have your Green Card, you can travel outside the US for 8 days and get back in, right? Even if once like 5 years ago you overstayed?

I know I am probably being way too psycho about this, but I'd appreciate it if anyone could tell me if we are fine or if I need to worry.

Lastly, do I need to bring proof of my ties to the US to get into Canada, even if my husband is a US permanent resident?

Thanks very much in advance.

CanadaConfused and stressed Canadian girl married to an American for 3 yrs. Please help :(
Look at my timeline. Practically the same exact thing happened to us. My husband (Canadian) got his green card approved in April of 2006. We never used a lawyer. If you have any questions about what we went through, please feel free to ask me. I can tell you this (everyone else has said it, too): Do not leave the US! We actually did leave the US (we were naive) after we were married and tried to get back in. Bad idea. I know our story started about 5 years ago and the laws may have changed, but if you need any support, emotional or advice, just let me know and we can exchange email addresses.
Best of luck!

How stressful! It's happened to me (the grilling) on the Canadian side, too. Glad you got through! :)

Off-topic, but I just have to say, kinzaza, that photo is adorable. Are you the girl in the photo? That is one of the prettiest girls I've ever seen! You should be a model. Sorry to be so off-topic, just wanted to say that.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat To Do If Your Fiance Is Already In The USA
My husband overstayed like, 2 years or more. I'm sorry, I don't quite remember the specific date now. I probably blocked it out now that we have the Green Card, haha.

I just want to say I agree with everything Kezzie is saying. So...if it means anything, I'm another person with the vote that it's fine to file AOS after you are married, provided she absolutely does NOT leave the US. Even with AP. Don't even bother filing for AP. So, I guess the question is, how willing is your wife to continue to stay in the US and not visit her home country?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNeed HELP with your opinions!!!!!!
This is ridiculous. All 10 pages of it! But hell, I'm bored at work, what can I say?

Except, wanting/buying expensive things by NO MEANS means you have taste. Sorry, just had to add that. Money doesn't buy taste and it doesn't buy class and those are 2 things that are almost completely absent from this thread.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWill being refused entry to the US affect my visa?
By the way....not sure about the all-knowing computer comment. When we had our AOS interview, we were relying on them to have all the info of my husband's entries (including 2 denials) in their "computer system." The officer was like.....no, we don't have that. So....weird, right!?
But you got a letter, etc. so it's probably different. I just wanted to share that what we think they have is not often what they really have. Unless of course, he was lying about it, but I don't know why he would have done that.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAnybody dream about your Immigration process?
Before J got his AOS approval, I had these horrid recurring nightmares that he "accidentally" stepped into Canada and was denied entry back into the US. At one point he actually went to a store in Canada to buy batteries (???) and then they wouldn't let him back to see me for 2 years. It was so awful, I hate those nightmares! But now they're funny to me. Ooops, I stepped over the line into Canada!
(We don't live anywhere near Canada)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSo surreal...

So, my baby's comin home tomorrow... after 15 months of being apart it just doesn't feel real. It's been so hard on him, saying his goodbyes and not knowing when he'll return to France. To think that this time tomorrow we'll have been together again for a few hours is just... whoa! What does he need to have on the plane with him again? The brown do not open envelope... isn't there something else?

It's funny, the 15 months we were apart flew by so fast... but now the reality of it is kicking in. The memories we have together are from 2005 - and now it's 2007. It seems (and is) so long ago... I don't remember what his hug feels like anymore... I don't even remember what it feels like to stand there and look up into his eyes. And that all finally ends tomorrow... wow... it's just so many combinations of feelings. Excited and relieved... worried about finances... sad for him having to leave his friends and family... on edge because of all the fighting we've done lately (15 months apart will do that to ya)... burned out because of a few bad weeks in work... combine them all together and I actually sort of feel numb. I don't know which one to feel first lol. I think I'm scheduling us for two back massages this weekend.

Eh, I'm just rambling. It just doesn't feel real that our K1 journey is ending, and then the AOS journey will begin. I guess, after 15 months of reading on the K1 forum, I just got used to being a "preparing to file K1" person. So it really, really doesn't feel real that he'll be flying in on his K1 tomorrow!

Did any of that actually make sense?

This actually made me cry a bit. I'm so happy for you. And empathetic. Although my husband and I were not apart for nearly as long as you. Take care.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWill age difference matter?
6 years is not that much. My mom is 11 years older than my stepfather. I doubt it will even be examined.
