I love this story. I keep re-reading it knowing our experience will probably be very similar. wink.gif

That is the letter scrambling and insanity part.

I would go even if I was dead at this point. I'd have someone wheel me in. I don't care how sick I was or how ANYTHING, I wouldn't miss my interview for anything.

QUOTE (thetreble @ Oct 1 2007, 03:11 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I think it's simply silly to have Canadians re-taking road tests considering some of us go through graduated licensing programs! In Ontario I had to get my G-1, then my G-2, then a G. Each had tests and with each i paid more and more money (and the prov. government laughed all the way to the bank). So why, when the rules of driving, including signs, are practically identical, do Canadians have to get re-tested in some states is beyond me

Agreed 100%. BC has the L and N and Class 5 system. I had to go through that nightmare then I had to take a road test here. Felt like I was teaching the driver with me (who looked younger than I) how to drive. Passed flawlessly.

I can understand testing those who are new to cars, but UK/Most Euro/Canadians?

I just had to take my driven test in CA. Didn't need proof of anything. I just had to show my passport and I got a DL.

why don't I get that feeling........

geesh my AOS file number is still not in the "system"!!! I have had my NOA1, Biometrics done AND an RFE that was sent back last week. Can you pass some of that feeling this way???? pretty please....

Ya I sent my RFE 3 weeks ago now. Judging by wait times and other factors I can only assume it is this week.

I have to look forward to something. wacko.gif

I have a feeling our case is going to be updated this week and every time I get that feeling something tends to show up in the mail. (website never updates of course)

As an American you can drive your parent's vehicle, but it won't hurt to have a letter from them. No Canadian can drive a US vehicle into Canada - it is grounds for arrest.

Yes, trust me on this one be sure you have PROOF of whos car it is if it is someone elses. They REALLY do not like CDN driving American cars unless you are importing or have another good reason. If you own it, different story but a random person with a different last name etc... yikes!

CanadaFriend Flagged and Denied Entry (Toronto)
Misa,
He is a Canadian Citizen. He was probably denied for not having ties strong enough. First time he was denied (and flagged) was because they didn't believe he was going to leave the US (even though he has a wife and kids and a house and car etc)

CanadaFriend Flagged and Denied Entry (Toronto)
My friend does a lot of business in the US and sometimes makes trips back and forth. About 3 months ago he was going to Florida and informed the border agent that he was going for a week trip on business. The guard denied him entry, and flagged his profile. He tried to go down last week and they denied him stating that he needs a visa to visit for work (b-1) which SHOULD be assigned WITH THAT guard, correct? At least it always has been for me.

What can he do to visit the US? Should he go to the consulate?

CanadaVery hard question
For me, death is the way of life. While I would be devestated if someone in my family died or was very ill or was hurt and needed me back home, I couldn't abandon the process. I would try to get an Emergency AP and if I couldn't... I'd just have to live with that and I came to the conclusion that I could and would have to.

FYI my MSC number was updated today and is available online. So it took only a week for it to come up after my RFE was sent in, though the number was generated some time before that.

MSC numbers seem to take longer than others. Wait 1-2 weeks at least for the number to be entered.

I saw that today and was sort of annoyed. They ought to put the dates back up because there are probably going to be quite a number of people who are going to be calling them and asking them "six months from WHEN???"

And also for the people who can't count backwards. whistling.gif

It appears to me that they update every month. It is usually around the 16-17th but it varies. I've only been in the system for 5 months so my trends may not be accurate.

My wife is here in the US now on a K3 Visa. We went to the Social Security Office to apply for a SSN#. They told us that the Alien Number on her Visa does not match with the name the have on their computer???? Who do I contact to recifty this problem?
For one as a K3 your wife can't get a SSN unless she adjust status and gets GC or gets a EAD approval. I doubt very much if your wife is in the SSA data base yet. If she is she can't get a SSN anyway.
May as well wait until she does AOS or gets EAD approval.

I'm assuming that's why it didn't "match" also, they probably just don't have it in the system at all. SAVE has to get auth to provide a ssn.

USCIS Service CentersShould I call USCIS to ask for help or not?
Yes, they are useless. Don't forget they are also contractors so they have no interest in giving correct info anyway.

It's a waste of time to trust them.

Good luck... We applied for my husbands on July 30th and we are still waiting. It has become a nightmare. No one at the help line or the local office can help us at all, or give us any information. Friday will be a month since we requested they expedite his application because we were outside the 90 day processing time, now we are 125 days since we filed. I hope you have better luck than us!

I had the letter sent and it sped it up. So maybe they will get on it soon.

USCIS Service Centersover due
You technically have to wait 30 days after the current processing date. So for example if your receipt was September 1st, you would have to wait until THEIR systems are processing for October 1st. They won't do much with bang on 6 months. Best of luck though.

Yea, I hired Murthy Law firm, I filled out all the forms and after two weeks when I asked her when I she will review my case, she said in a week and suggested I pay an additional $750 if I want her to look at it earlier. I realized I just introduced an another bureacratic layer to the process decided to do it on my own. She charged $1000 bucks, even though she didn't even look at my file yet.

I am never hiring that firm again for anything. Forget the $1000 atleast I saved lot of time doing it on my own, instead of using the law firm. They are nothing but over priced paper pushers.

Same thing happened with Holmes and Lolly. Scumbags. They ended up getting me for a grand but wasted 4 MONTHS of our time "preparing" documents only to ask for everything again and require all sorts of stupid signatures. Anyway to make a long story short they are scammers. When we asked for a refund the partner "Lolly" responded that they don't issue refunds. But if my wife wanted to marry another foreigner they would handle that case. A$$h0lez.

What is the "rfe option" ?

When you call the USCIS 800 number or mis-information line there is an option for RFEs.

Is this used to force them to inspect the case in case of an RFE? I had one and it has been awhile since I have heard anything from uscis. If I call up and mention will it have any benefit?

US Citizenship General DiscussionHow long for citizenship?
So here's a quick update. I am considering becoming a police officer or sheriff. However to do this you must be a US Citizen. I am trying to get a long term goal planned. How long from the date my Permanent resident card to the date I could potentially become a US Citizen? Are there any kind of fast-tracks? Do I need a green card for a certain period first?

Thank you in advance. I'd be happy to answer any questions to clarify anything. smile.gif
