I get it, I really do.

Obviously you don't.

Interesting, well thought out and educated retort. So much so, I can't really respond.
Everyone picks and chooses what to latch on to emotionally. Personally I find it more tragic that we've murdered 100,000 civilians in several countries over the 2700+ that were killed 8 years ago today in the US. That's just me though, clearly I am the bad guy.

CanadaWhere were you when the towers fell?
No offense, I get that many people lost things and it shook Americans confidence and all - but many born and bred Americans agree with me that perhaps it's time to stop asking these questions every year. Haven't 8 years of unjustified war helped quell those feelings yet?

I get it, I really do. It's tragic. But worse things have happened and worse things will continue to happen all over the world (sometimes on a daily basis... IE check the daily child starvation/aids deaths daily worldwide)

CanadaJust so sick to my stomach tired of immigration
I imagine everyone else is feeling the same way and have for years. But I just need to say I am so tired of this process. Today I am compiling my last bits of evidence for my I-751 in preparation of mailing it off October 11th.
I am tired of the fees, I am tired of the waiting and I am tired of being nervous the entire time waiting for updates on the website or by mail.

Here's hoping the 10 year GC is painless and smooth and next year I can become a citizen and be done with this arm of the government forever.

CanadaHow long have ou overstayed before filing?
People become VERY bitter during this process and because we have all gone through hell to get where we are everyone feels resentment for others who don't go through the same things and processes the legal way (while I overstayed I was still completely within USCIS limits so technically I am not in the black, more of a grey zone)

I don't blame either group.

Though I do laugh when people (especially Christians (seems normal in the US)) say "Peace to all creatures" but then spew hate. haha.

CanadaHow long have ou overstayed before filing?
Technically I overstayed over several periods for a total of a year. Student visa overstay, travel overstay and AOS overstay....
All was forgiven. Even me working illegally was forgiven.

Though I think in the end it depends on the agent interviewing.

Canadawork for Canadian clients while in the US
I have not read anything in this thread other than the initial OP post.

I worked for a Canadian company for 3 years in the US and I informed my interviewer about it (he asked how we were able to pay bills etc) he said this was allowed and expected and was NOT an issue. All forgiven.

So in MY personal experience working for a CDN company in the USA while awaiting AOS did NOT hurt my application.

I feel nothing for the workers at american car plants. They are overpaid in unions they won't budge and they have all brought this upon themselves. Legacy payments, retirement etc etc. I mean how can you build in 150 retired worker salaries, 150 plan workers, robots, advertising bla bla into a car and still make money?

well as an overpaid gm auto worker i dont ask u to feel anything for me...but come to work with me one day and see why we make the money we do. its not easy work like everyone thinks...im sure ull change ur mind after 1 hour of doing what i do.

It doesn't matter how hard you think you work. The fact that Tata can build a $2000 car just shows that America stands NO chance if they want to continue to make cars. Someone will do what you do for less, and be VERY happy to do it.

CanadaCredit Cards
I find Canadian credit cards are way behind or just seem different. In America, credit cards are just standard. I know many Canadians who don't even have a credit card.

I think it's just a different market or attitude or something that makes cards less "demanded". I can't explain it I guess.

CanadaNew cameras for Biometrics?
QUOTE (Malrothien @ Oct 30 2009, 12:12 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Every single governmental photo I have ever taken I look stoned. Always.

My dad is very tanned, which is funny because my mother, sister and I get my mom's genetics which are completely Nordic. So we are all pasty and my dad looks tanned. He got his passport photo taken while he was tanning to go to Mexico, and he looked middle eastern/latin in the pictures. It's just a riot watching people ID him.

CanadaNew cameras for Biometrics?
So the last time I went in for bio, I got my picture taken. My hair wasn't done and I was sort of tired. The picture came out decent because the quality was not that great.

I got my mug shot yesterday and I think they got 9000 megapixel cameras because I can see every flaw and individual hair on my face. She showed me the picture and said "See these look better than the DMV." I asked if I could run to the drug store to have a shave and do my hair. She laughed and said it won't matter, the picture is seen by you and border guards and that's about it.

DOH!

Hmmmm predicted a divorce earlier in the thread but I had no idea it would only take 2 weeks. Lucky guy for getting out of it now. A little financial damage is the least of his concerns. I would feel even worse if he had to endure a year + of that woman.

So I got the call from Citizenship and Immigration again this morning. It was someone who works for the Canadian CIS calling from work interested in buying my house!!!

If that's the case, really -

Then that worker used PRIVATE information (yours ) for personal gain.
Report them, asap - you've a security breach in progress back at the Canadian CIS.

Not necessarily -- she has her house listed, so it could just be pure coincidence that a CIS worker is looking to move and just happened to find her listing.

I suspect that it IS coincidence. Lots of folks work for the CIS and the housing market is starting to pick up.

I am also sure it is coincidence. A lot of people work for the government. My company gets a LOT of sales from the DOJ - just because we see their IP on our website we used to think we were being investigated... until the guys were just file clerks or what not buying product.

CanadaWhich address to use for job applications?
I am residing in California, but we are moving to Victoria, BC if I can get a job offer from a local police department. On the application and resume I need to list an address. Should I list my Canadian mailing address, or my current address? I am thinking my current address - because then I can just attach my birth cert and SIN card photocopy if there are questions of citizenship.

What does VJ think?

Congrats! Beautiful house, and a swimming pool to boot! What a great price. Seeing prices like that while living in Vancouver makes my jaw drop.

Once I showed this to my sister (who lives in Surrey) she started to re-think her future and is considering a move back to the island. It's hard to be a home owner in the lower mainland.

Thanks for the grats everyone I am very very excited
