Not giving you a hard time LaL, everyone has their own rules and I have no problem with that.

PS Canada board rules.

CanadaI heart the Canada Board
Yes I understand the reason it was deleted and the private board deal. I've been in community development for 7 years on boards with 5 million (yes million) members. So I am not new to this sort of thing.

However at the core I think everyone is allowed their opinion.

CanadaI heart the Canada Board
Yes, I stated that a member on the board that most people know to be an expletive expletive is actually an expletive. When the person being referenced posted in one of my threads I received a few PMs telling me to ignore said person, as they were an expletive.

A moderator decided it was best to remove the name and insult, as free speech only goes so far. When feelings get hurt, it's time to delete posts. kicking.gif

Yeah I remember first coming to VJ and I was in the K3 board I think. Some real jerks there. Wouldn't help me, they first had to insult how I filed.

CanadaHas anyone been asked for Job search info by EI?
My mom does seasonal work and she collects EI briefly in the summer (along with the rest of her coworkers in the field). No one in their right mind would hire them during the downtime but EI always requests job search proof (denial letters etc).

Maybe it's just the type of work requires it and for immigration they don't care. *shrug*

I am bored, and I like to bet on silly things. So I wanted to see if anyone would want to start a pool. You can bet any kind of item you want.

I am betting that I will received EAD on October 30th. My wager is 1 tin of Tim Horton's Coffee (traditional blend of course)

CanadaSo Canadians - tell us about yourselves
Well my name is Brad, and... well.. I am Canadian.
I grew up on Vancouver Island but was born in the Fraser Valley. My parents wanted us to get away from the degenerating climate of the mainland. The island proved to be a very sheltered place mixing White Christians with White Athiests. I had a black friend in highschool, but outside of that had NO idea there were other races. (Until I went to Vancouver and got some weird system shock)

I grew to despise the Island really fast and decided when it was time to go to University I was going to try something different. So I dropped everything, packed up my life and flew down to Southern California on a F-1 student visa. The rest they say is history.

I met Sara on Hotornot.com. I saw her and just drooled and knew I wanted to at the very least lick her face. We had the worst date of our lives going out to chili's and seeing an awful movie. Sara's food was cold, mine was "wet" and it was cold. It was just overall a really bad date. We stopped at the park that was by her old house and I ended up getting sand on my hands and holding her wrists too tight causing an insane sand burn that was on her wrists for a week.

To make a long story short I knew she was the one after that date. No questions asked. A week later I bought a ring and met her at work. Drove her home, sat her down and asked her to marry me. Though apparently I was not as eloquent as normal. I jumbled my words a lot and almost barfed I was so nervous.

We kept it from her family as long as possible but I told mine right away. Her family warmed up to me only recently after 9 months of marriage. They actually see me as part of the "fam" now.

Life has been good, and I can't wait for our lives to really begin together.

CanadaCan/Am Custody Issues
Bottom line: Get that therapist to write down their opinion of the situation. If you have to, get custody of the kids through the courts. You have a VERY strong case which I have absolutely no doubts you will win. Also if you can prove he has been tardy with child support, the judge will 100% of the time side with the mother.

You have a winning case, if you want to remove the father from their lives. He should not be allowed to come in and out as he pleases. As you children get older THEY can decide if they wish to have anything to do with him. Around 15-18 they may, but for now it could do a lot of psychological damage.

Best of luck, as I say (only to reinforce) take it to court and you win.

CanadaAny experience with escalations here?
My EAD was just sent a request from the [mis]Info line to NBC/MSC for being outside of processing time (2nd lvl IO). Does anyone have experience with how this works? From what she said it can take 30-45 days to receive a response on how they will proceed. So what is the point in this if they are just going to delay more? I am at a loss at how this is efficient or a benefit to me. :/

Anyone have anything sent up a level and have an experience to share?

Yes as per a previous reply I'd like to also add: I have been unable to work for 8 months. I can't travel, so I have only seen my family twice in the last year and a half. It's been rough.

This is how I did it. My wife and I were engaged, and I came down to go on a cruise for her grandparents 50th anniversary. I ended up staying over the holidays and then we just decided to get married. We filed I-130, 485/765/864.

CanadaWaiting Out the I-130 Process in US
You could in fact do this, but if you are there, you may as well file the AOS if you can. There is a potential to get an approval within the time you are there. You could also file for AP and be able to travel back home while adjusting... that's an option B if you like taking risks. smile.gif

CanadaMoving back to Canada
I read your vent and I just read this thread. I have a small story:

I moved to California when I was 19 as a student. I had no one and nothing, I just had some savings. I began to love it here, but at the same time I missed my family so much that I only gave it a year and I moved home thinking I would be happier and more stable. It wasn't long until I weighed everything again and realized CA was the place for me.

Make sure the decision you make is the right one, picking up and moving is expensive. I have done it about 10 times and spent about 20k in moving expenses, buying new furniture etc.

If you're miserable you know it better than anyone and if you love home then you need to go back to where the heart is. There's no way around that.

QUOTE (misa @ Nov 6 2007, 10:33 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Unfortunately because your EAD was based on being an AOS applicant, the AOS RFE does hold up EAD processing. Hope you hear something soon!

Yea, see that's the funny thing though. Half the people on VJ say it doesn't and shouldn't. But common sense to me says it SHOULD. However the nice thing is I am approaching the 60 day response time frame on the AOS anyway, so when I go in for my infopass I can make a bit of a stink about both issues.

I haven't heard anything about the escalation, but I am not surprised. They gave me a 30-45 day time frame on receiving a RESPONSE to what the status is - LOL.

Thanks for the well wishes I appreciate it.

CanadaI have written to our congressman
"You have mail!"

I filled out some paperwork to send to our congressman in hopes that he may be able to probe into why EAD is taking so long. I sent it regular mail so it's sort of up in the air if anything will come of it. I will let you know.

Typically it's only 1 biz day to get mail from where I am to the city the congressman is in.
