Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionOctober filers
This is taking too long. December CSC filers are being approved. I sent a letter and authorization form to my congressman and appealed for help in figuring out why my case is always delayed - and why this last leg is taking so long. Let's hope he finds out someone just misplaced my file.

Docmay, please take this to another thread - this thread is for immigration approvals only. You can learn about dysfunctional relationships and erratic women online or with a local psychiatrist. Best of luck, you'll need it.

You can call USCIS any time you want. That doesn't mean they will/can do anything for you. They require 6 months, and I was told you have to wait 30 days after the 6 months to prove it's past the average (lol).
I am traveling also start of Feb. I was hoping to have this all wrapped up in December, but alas not. I don't care anymore I am going for citizenship in 9 months.

I am traveling to Canada on February 4th. I have yet to receive my new GC. I am assuming I need to take my 1 year extension letter with me in my passport with my GC to re-enter the US on the 7th?

Still no news on my front. I had hoped I would be done with this leg in 2009 and not have to bring it into 2010 but I guess not.

The other solution in my opinion which is a 100% error proof is not to plan any trips around the time you are applying or waiting (just like I am doing now) - I did all my travel before applying and now I can sit and wait.

Good idea in theory but sometimes emergency travel and what not can't be avoided. So having a friend or whoever checking mail to me is always #1.

I'm a little concerned. My bio was early and I am not approved, but others have been approved for a week or two weeks.

We have quite a way to go. smile.gif

Middle East and North Africaspeaking of breakups...
Sereia, if you ever need a VJ buddy let me know, I am actually located just a few minutes from you.

My advice will be short and sweet: In life we make mistakes but when you have a gut feeling and you know something is right you need to just go with it.

My wife asked me the same question when I proposed (well it was a few days later). It took her time to adjust to everything. We got approval from her whole family and everyone gets along famously now.

Not everyone can be as open and understanding and frankly maybe if I was "dark skinned" they wouldn't have approved. Being her family is entirely Jewish, I doubt me being Muslim would have worked.
Everyone has their problems, her mother and I argue constantly about religion as I am hardline Athiest and she is a faith based Christian. But we realize that is just life and it's not something we really care about enough to "hate" each other.

It's time for you guys to move on and out of the house. Find roommates and get a place, or do whatever it takes. That environment is not safe.

Also a personal feeling... if my family EVER treated me like the way you are being treated I would walk up to each and every single one of them, punch them in the face, stare them down while they are on the ground and say "Fu*k you, you're out of my life." and I would NEVER speak to them again. Ever, for any reason.
That attitude to me is absolutely unforgivable and according to my personal moral code, against the rules of life. This is just me however. I know when it's best to hold them and fold them.

Hicham is a BIG germ-a-phobe, so he'll follow me around sometimes to make sure that I've washed my hands or something like that.

He also checks the oven to see that it's turned off before we leave the house EVEN IF WE HAVEN'T COOKED ANYTHING! And he does this at other people's houses that we go to visit. He doesn't say anything, but I watch him and I know that is what he's doing. A couple of times I just look at him and he says..."It's off." smile.gif

HAHAHA oh man. Yep that sounds familiar.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-130s, addresses, cleared checks

I understand now that this is the slow season, and I'm not worried about the wait on my NOA1, however, I've heard you can get a tracking number for it to see the status online if you can get your hands on the cleared check. How do you get a copy of the cleared check? I want to get this tracking number.

Also, I moved last week and I need to know how to let them know I've changed address. My husband in the UK hasn't, but will soon. So, I looked at the USCIS website and they have those change of address links, but it looks like you have to enter your case number, since it asks if you have any cases pending. My question is, do I have a case pending, or does my husband? Is this the right way to let them know I've changed address?

Does anyone know if the delays have just been on the NOA1, or will it be for the NOA2 as well? I'm assuming so, since it appears to be they're just really backlogged with all of it?

Thanks!

You can call your bank and most of the time they have a copy of the check either online or at the bank branch or customer service can look at the scan. They would be your best bet.

You could call, but they aren't going to be able to tell you anything more than it was touched. They see what we see from what I have read and understood.

I told Sara (my wife) I don't care where we live so long as we are together. We can go to Canada, the UK, or New Zealand. It doesn't matter where in the world we go so long as we are together.

USCIS can really topple and change people's lives, but the measure of your relationship is tested when struck with adversity.

CanadaComlex situation (for us) advice needed
My wife (the USC) still goes by her maiden name as that was her name when we filed the I-130 so we stuck with it. She is not going to change her name until the process is over.

I am going in this week for an emergency AP, and my wife is applying for an expedited passport. The cost for that is $150 + AP which comes to $500. The problem is as soon as the interview comes in (January/February) she is changing everything that day basically.

Will this cause problems if we want to travel and her Drivers License / SSN / all ID says my last name but her passport is the maiden name?
Can she travel with a birth certificate for proof to get around that? What would you guys do? We need to travel before the interview is approved or else we would just wait.

Thanks in advance.

Honestly I would just do it immediately. With all of the mess in the system I'd rather just get it done and over with. Do a civil ceremony at the court house and do a real marriage later? That's what I did.

Hey, at least you were honest and listed everything. It may come back to be a benefit later on.

Don't forget: EVERYTHING happens for a reason. While we may not all believe in karma or religion or fate.... for some reason every delay in my life or every quick process has happened for a reason and it becomes clear when said event happens.

So hang tight, you're almost done.

Yikes! It sounds like it. Hm did you perhaps have one of those... 'low cut shirts'? smile.gif I'm a clean cut white boy so I never have ANY kind of problems at all, so that's why I sort of figured it must have been protocol.

Really? The only B2 I received while visiting Bee was from JFK - other passport stamps I received (if any) didn't have that specific notation. Whether it was out of laziness on the officer's part, I'm not sure.

I entered from 2 ports. 1 YVR airport, 2 peacearch border crossing. Each time I got a stamp, from different officers at very different times. It could be that only BC/WA ports force this, so I shouldn't broaden my assumption to every port. But in my experience I was not simply let in VWP (as I should be) I was stamped and dated.

Actually Canadian Citizens are ineligible for B2 visas due to their special treaty status as the only class of people who are prmitted to enter the US without a visa. The good part about that is Canadians can try all they want to attempt to make entries to the US without penalty (cancelation of visa or VWP privileges)...

All you can do is make your case at the POE and see what they say...

You know, all this could be solved by connecting their information system to a website. Just like the USCIS website. This simple login could tell you when the office received your stuff, the approximate waiting times, your interview date, checklist, and it could also tell you not to call or email questions that are already answered by the site. It would save time, people power and a lot of worrying and frustration... I'm more ticked off that they dont have this service than the fact that they make us wait so long.

That is something I've thought about myself. I don't understand why they don't institute such a system. sad.gif

It's the government. For me to program such a system would take a few days at the most and 2 grand. But for the government to do it they need a thinktank, a 100 person consulting firm to find the firm to program it, 9 weeks of planning and development, 2 months of development, 4 weeks of testing and then the budget to get cut and the project to get scrapped.

It's bloat bloat and inefficiency... but hey it's our tax dollars (or spouses anyway) at work.
