I looked at past timelines, but they are old. We finally received packet 3 and are mailing it off tomorrow! How long does it take for Packet 4 to arrive and the interview date. Is there any way to speed up the process for France. OMG.........they are sooooooooooooo slow! Took us over 3 weeks to just receive our packet 3.........Just want My Honey home!!!!!!!!!! Haven't seen him since August 13th : ( ....
Thank You in Advance for any information!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi! Good luck with the interview process. Our file has been sent from NVC on October 5th and still nothing from the Embassy, so from your experience I guess I have to wait another week or so.

Could you keep us posted on your progress with this interview in Paris?!

Thanks et bonne soirée star_smile.gif

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionpackage 3
I just got my package 3 from the Paris embassy. The forms were in there, but I prefered filling the DS 230 electronically so I would be sure there would be not misunderstanding due to my hand writting. I found the form on the State Department website, here is the link http://www.state.gov/m/a/dir/forms/

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionMedical Exam, in Paris France
QUOTE (Jonara @ Oct 30 2009, 01:33 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Here's what I can share coming from another member here who's gone thru the examination in Paris:

The fee is $170 which only includes check up, blood test (for HIV and Syphillis) and the chest X-ray. You can't wave these services. If you need vaccinations, you will pay extra. The following are the list of standard vaccines they look for (I suggest you get them and ask for a letter from your doctor stating you got them already):

For Tetanos diphteria and polio
Rougeole (measles I think)
Rubeole (rubella?)
Oreillons (mumps?)
Varicelle (Chickenpox)

I hope this helps.

Thanks for your feedback.

Yes, pretty sure. Just be glad you're not doing the medical in Norway, they charge 480 dollars for the medical, 100 dollars for the x-ray PLUS vaccinations. I was reading up on procedures for the medical as well, and the only way to do this is to follow the guidelines of the embassy you're working with. Doesn't make our wallets very happy, does it? wacko.gif

Ok then I stop complaining, I guess that France isnt too bad smile.gif

You're moving to America.

Get used to paying for medical services. It's a far cry from what you are used to in France.

I know, it is psychologically really hard for a French girl to imagine it blink.gif

Does anyone know if there is a way around the big medical exam expenses in Paris?!

I know we have to go see one of the doctors stated in the Embassy check-list, and apparently some X-rays have to be done (lungs??). I have heard of a total fee of 160-200€ not reimbursed by health insurance.
Can I choose the doctor I want for the X-rays and then take them to the Embassy chosen doctor?

Thanks in advance.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionDS-230 PART II SWORN STATEMENT
QUOTE (Frenchness @ Nov 18 2009, 03:18 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hey Sabrina,
I would respond in French, but it may help other non-French speaking people on here, so I'll respond in English.

1/Forms ds156, ds156k, ds157 and the little "letter of intent" they sent in packet3 were all the forms asked for.
2/They only asked for: transcripts, employment letters, bank letter. They could care less about pay stubs and bank statements, they won't take them anyway.
3/NO and I do insist, ABSOLUTELY NO proof of relationship was asked for.
4/They already have your I-129F and won't ask for the original petition...

My overall perception was that they dont have time to waste, so they go straight to the point!

There was another lady applying for a K1 fiancee visa, and who had the number before me...her interview was 5-10 min long and so was mine! The officer will say "if everything goes as it should, you'll receive your visa in 7-10 days"...That's it.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to respond. Then it looks like I have got everything they need, I will still bring proof of relationship and all, but wont bother having my fiancé send me more paystubs or the original petition.
Given you probably had your appointment at 1pm, what time did you get out? were there a lot of people in line?

Please let me know when you receive your visa.

Bonne soirée

Hi Frenchness,
I got package 4 yesterday and my interview in Paris is schedules on December 8th.

Other than the forms we have to provide, what kind of documents did they ask for?
What did you give along with the I-134?
What did you give as proof of relationship?
Do they ask about documents we submitted with the I-129F?

Thanks in advance.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionQuick question with providing sponsorship
At this stage you are going to need the form I-134 (I-864 will come later once your fiancé is in the States and apply for the Adjustment of Status).
Even if you have a co-sponsor you need to fill out a I-134 for yourself, along with your tax returns and bank letter (I am guessing from USA is you still have a bank account there). As you guys will be moving back to the States I dont think they will want to see your Japanese paystubs or employment letter as once your fiancé will have her visa you will both move, but it can not hurt for her to bring that paperwork to the embassy too in case.
I am from France, my fiancé had been living here with me for 2 years. He is just now back in the States with a fresh job. We were not sure they would accept us without a co-sponsor because his tax returns were really low as he was a student. So I took all of his financial paperwork with me to the interview + his dad's who was willing to sponsor me. At the embassy they took the paperwork they were interested on, gave me back the rest. They told us we were fine without a co-sponsor so they didnt take my father in law stuff.

My point is, your fiancé should bring the co-sponsor financial file + yours. The embassy will take what they want from it. Include all your Japanese info, if they dont want it they will give it back. And as you have a co-sponsor you will be fine either way.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresIs the K3 worth it?
Go with CR-1 (I-130) option only. Like others have said, it may be a bit quicker, however the overall process will be longer. With K-3 you have to file AOS, cost $1010, which you don't have to with CR-1. Money was the deciding factor for me, even though it was a bit late. I did apply for K-3, i wish I hadn't. It added an extra month of wait before getting my NOA2. Wish you all the best....

National Visa Center (Dept of State)http://usvisa-info.com/
I called the service line associated with the http://usvisa-info.com website, and the girl on the phone was pretty clueless-- started talking to me about requirements for tourist visas. A second call put me in touch with a more informed guy who said they don't reschedule appointments over the phone and to do it on the website.

So, I THINK I have managed to reschedule my husband's CR-1 interview in Ecuador, but the info website, NVC and the consulate are all operated by different agencies/entities and totally disconnected, so I'm nervous about whether or not the new date will get updated in Guayaquil. Don't want my husband showing up just to be told he doesn't have an interview..

Has anyone ever used the self-service appointment scheduling system on http://usvisa-info.com/? Were you able to successfully reschedule your immigrant visa appointment on there?

A few days ago I sent our DS-230 package to NVC, I checked everything very carefully so I think it should go through with no problems. That means we're expecting a case complete by the end of October and hopefully a December interview date in Guayaquil, but it could be January at this point.

Does anyone know if the holidays impact embassies' progress on immigrant visa interviews? I'm wondering, for example, if they schedule interviews during the week right before Christmas and during the week between Christmas and New Years.

amyjohans,

When you submitted the I-130 to USCIS, did you only send the computerized marriage certificates or a handwritten document from the Registro Civil? I'm almost ready to send mine in, but noticed that in the GYE embassy they require all handwritten versions. Wondering if USCIS has the same policies.

Thanks!! We hope to get our NOA2 as fast as you guys did!

Congratulations on getting the NOA2. I hope that all goes smoothly from here on out. I was wondering how long was it from the time you got your NOA1 to the time you got your NOA2. I just received my NOA1 Dec. 28th (after it sitting in NVC for 3 months) Again, I wish you al the best good.gif

Yes, the wait times have certainly increased for immigrant visa petitions, and it is making for some extremely long waits. sad.gif Try and be patient, do the research, gather your documentation and make sure you're as prepared as you can be for the next step in your journey.

Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. I am wondering now what documentation I should start to gather while I wait. I will be visiting my wife for the X-Mas holidays so it would be nice to know the things I can do while I am there

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresGreetings from a Newby
Greetings to all the members of Visajourney. This is my first post so please be patient with me. Last summer was the happiest day of my long life when I married my beautiful Anca in a wonderful service in Bucharest Romania. After spending a wonderful summer together I came back to the States and started this now long a frustrating quest for a Visa. Little did I know that it would take so long. I thought 5 months but NOW it seems like it will be that much just to get a receipt. Vermont recieved my application ( I-130 ) on September 12th but because of the backlog they MAY not get to it until at least December 28th. When talking to an agent of USCIS today I asked about filing an I-129 and she informed me that the processing times were about the same. I am at a loss as what to do and now my Wife is frustrated because she does not know and specifics about time.. I guess I`m looking for some support and good information from people who are in the same boat as I. Thanks for your patience.

Hmmm. 2 weeks ago my case worker with me Senator said "my contact with NVC's congressional unit say we have the case", still when i call NVC they cannot find my case. But 2 weeks may be a bit much to ask.
All i know is that 2/14 i fly to visit Dora for 1 week. I booked the flight long before the NOA2 but was scared i would see her cry in the airport upon my departure again. That fear has been greatly diminished since the NOA2. So now, when i depart it will be more of a "see you soon", than "goodbye????".
My children have all made Valentine's cards for Dora and I am so touched because they did it on their own. Dora already calls them "my babies". We are so excited to see each other again and just do NOTHING for 1 week.
I love you all,

]Hello Jamie, I know how it feels to have to leave your loved one and fly back home without her. I did the same thing in December. I am curious about how you went about contacting your Senetor. It has been over 5 months since I first submitted my I-130 and it has now been over a month since I received my NOA1. When I talked to the people at USCIS they continue to tell me that my information has not been entered into the system. My wife is now starting to feel like we will never be together because of the long delay. I could sure use some advice. Thanks for anything you can tell me. This site and all the people here have been a God send for me during this long and stressful time.

We're in the exact same situation as you guys. We filed in September and we have almost 7 months of waiting. At least we got an RFE for the I-129f..this was 18 days ago...at least they're working on it, right?! We sent back the RFE response after 5 days and we haven't heard from USCIS for almost 2 weeks. I'll keep you posted. I'm happy we're not alone in this.

Hello MAdie, I am in the same boat as you. My I-130 was sent in September and it wasn`t until the end of December that I got my NOA1. NOW I wait and wait and wait for something to happen. I have talked to others who filed in September and have already been approved. It`s very discouraging, especiallyt for my wife who waits patiently in Bucharest. The only good thing I can say is that I know I`ll be seeing her in the summer for our 1st anniversary. This is the most trying thing I have even gone through.

Hello!

I feel for you about the gardasil thing. It pissed me off too. USCIS are on trial for that, lots of immigrants complained about being the guinea pig for this vaccines.
I got lucky on this one too. I had my GC interview after I turned 27. How old r you? Is it compulsory to enter the US now?

About Gardasil I dont have a choice, I am 24 y/o so there is no way I can avoid it. My only relief is to think that if there is any bad side effect on me I will sue Merck's and the US governement, and with their crazy law system there I might win and become a multi-billionaire, lol!

There is a waiver available and it costs money. But it is an option... You have to apply for it and explain why you don't want to get the vaccines, can be personal or religious beliefs. I have read of one person going that route, it took an extra 1-2 months but it was approved.

Well I have read here and on other forums that the waiver to avoid a vaccine is most of the time rejected, especially if it only applies to one vaccine of the list. In my case it would be difficult to say that this particular vaccine is against my personal or religious beliefs when I have got all of the others up to date.
I am trying to convince myself that eveyrthing will be ok, with no bad side effects. I dont want to risk delaying receiving my EAD and GC by 1 to 2 months, and by the end having my waiver rejected and so having to do the Gardasil anyway.

What's going on here???

My doctors in France told me the same thing, that basically it is pretty much useless once you've had sexual relationships. But they told me that even if it is useless, it is also in most cases harmless. I havent heard the American side yet, but from what you can read online they praise it as a great vaccine... I am not that convinced.

Thanks a lot for your feedback on the medical exam! It looks like you did it last summer.
Do you happen to remember which "embassy" doctor you went to see? Cuz I called Dr Slattery and asked if I could come with all the exams done already and his secretary told me it wasnt possible.

No. I dont remember his name, but I do remember where it was. It was on one of the street across Trocadero.
I hope it helps. Let me know! wink.gif

Hmmm that IS good news, thanks for the info

hope it all went well

Unfortunately the only one near Trocadero is Slattery, and when I called they said I need to do everything through them, and no feuille de soins issued.
So I am guessing that for Paris we are kind of screwed to go around the fees!
Maybe the doctor Lucie went to see isn’t part of the embassy panel any more, or maybe he doesn’t accept anymore people trying to go around the system.

In addition of this big medical fee I just found out that I have to do Gardasil, I had no idea. We are looking at another 400€, plus possible complications, and which after talking to my doctor seems to be a useless vaccine in my case.
I am really hating this visa thing, and I am not even half way through, grrrr!
