Wow!! Such great news on approved petitions and new scheduled interviews as well. It looks like the USE has finally found new resources or set a new priority on K1 interviews because, where they WERE falling farther behind every month, they are now making good headway on the long queue of petitions.

As of right now all bets are off on predictions while they continue to release additional interview slots BEFORE their upcoming announcement of February slots. And that's a GOOD thing!! We have all moved nicely up the list since the January slots were announced. Mari and I were thinking March (MNL2006-789xxx) but now, February is looking pretty good. This has been a great development for all of us!

Have vic&el4ever, davidjack, or binow checked in case they have a scheduled date? It would be helpful to hear from them either way.

And GOOD LUCK Fmerz and Roy in your upcoming interviews!!!!

We have not received the our appointment letter yet, how do we check if we got an appointment date?

I see that recently people are getting added, to the Dec and Jan schedules. That is wonderful. Congrats to all. My question is, is there a certian time that they release the interview schedule? When should we expect the Feb list? Any ideas? I once heard that it was only on the 15th but recently what I have seen have not followed that.

S.

We have seen them mostly released in the middle of the month, then what appears to be some "filling in" of available interview slots later on. Some of the "fill-ins" actually get earlier dates the the first batch, so it's not always a bad thing if you don't get selected in the first (mid-month) batch. ;)

Well if we're gonna get any late-scheduled appointments for the first week of January we should hear this week. Otherwise we should start hearing about February appointments next week. Some people will get a nice Christmas gift. :)

I think VJers must be some of the best prepared people. I mean, I wonder what happens with some of the others who just wing it with no VJ and no lawyer.

I'm not surprized that the denial rate in Manila is like 50%. :o

Hello All I have a question as I am obsessing ove paperwork details. I believe we need to have a copy of the original I-129f (complete with all of our evidence) sent to USCIS. I have a lawyer who seems basically worthless. Anyways he sent me a copy of the paperwork. It has lots of copies that cant really be seen at all. I originally sent color copies of things like passport stamps and letter to my fiance.
Is this really important to bring a copy to the interview ? Should I just find the originals and make good copies of anything that is not readable ? i also refer to my fiance as my wife in some letters. Is this a no no ? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Dave and Flory

The reason to have the copy at the interview is just in case they ask something about it. Your fiance should be very familiar with everything in the I-129f packet if they ask.

I have a question about Visa Forms that are to be completed. We have completed every form thus far, as well as almost have everything together for the interview. Is the DS156 and DS157 the only documents required to be completed in Packet 4?

Also, does anyone recommend going to the medical exam earlier than the scheduled date? If so, how much earlier?

I read about several documents needed to prove the relationship. Is a marriage certificate showing we were married in the Philippines along with photos of us at our wedding enough?

Thanks all!

Personally I recommend going for the medical exam early. That way if there is minor problem you might have a chance to resolve it in time for the interview. We plan to do it about 1 month before the interview.

The only reason to do it one week before the interview is if your fiance(e) does not live in the Manila area and would like to make just one trip.

I hope i am asking my questions in the right place and right manner. Please let me know if I am not.

As far as the Affidavit of supprt , bank letter and employment letters are concerned, which forms require notarization ?

Another point No additional early January appointments yet ? No more suprises ?

I think its possible we could see some more appointments for the first week of January, but I would hold your breath for that.

In any case, the February appointments should be given out in about 10 days or so.

BJZags - Congrats once again my brotha! What's funny is that the Customs Officer asked three times more questions than the pre-interviewer and the consular officer combined. LOL! The Customes Officer even asked Jhen if her pearl necklace was real, and read through the POE packet given by the USE asking random questions. He was bored and had nobody to talk too. LOL! The questions were easy of course because we were prepared and Jhen knows me very well.

ALL - Oh, we went to the SSA yesterday and had no problem applying for my Baby's SS Card. All we needed was Jhen's Passport/Visa. I've read that some folks have problems applying because the employees don't know the rules.

Cheers!!!

You know I looked at the list again and it seems they only took about 20 numbers, from 736 to 756, for the first batch of appointments from January 11-30. I am going to go out on a limb here and predict that we WILL see more appointments scheduled the first week of Jan.

This could get interesting ...

Well, our number is only 21 days behind the last one to get a Dec interview date.(ours is 2006783xxxx) I am really hoping that means a late Jan- early Feb interview date for us.

I think the January appointments are all given out now. I'll predict a late February for you (and me). Wanna bet me a cold San Miquel in Manila?

I hope you are wrong and they give out more Jan dates like they just did for Dec. Valentines day would be a good day to get approved. Ken & Maria

Well it's possible but we already have a 1/30 date on the list so I don't think so, but I hope I'm wrong too.

It looks like there is possibly a gap in the schedule at the beginning of January ?
dave and Flory

Unfortunately VJers aren't a random sample so it's hard to say. It's also possible that what we are seeing there is the same as what appeared to happen for the last week of December, that they held back scheduling that week for some reason. My guess is that they waited until they knew what there staffing levels were for the last week in December. If we're real lucky they are doing the same thing for the first week of January, in which case we could see some more appointments for that week too.

That would be sweet! :energetic:

My guess is that they only gave out the first 3 weeks of December appointments until they knew which staff would be working during the week between Christmas and New Years day, so they could determine how many they could handle during that week. Most places require vacation requests only 30 days in advance, so maybe the Embassy works that way too. If that's the case, then maybe they just found out last week who would be working December 26 thorugh 29. Once they knew that, they new for sure how many cases they could handle and they just took the next people in the queue, like you said. Anyway that's my theory, but then again I could be full of ####### (again).

Whatever the reason, that only means the 200677XXXX people like me have a better chance for February!

Sounds good to me Gary. I think you are looking REALLY good for February now. I'm also wondering if ellmoi, sway, or RiggerAF have checked the interview schedule. If I were you, I'd be checking! Hope to hear from any of you whether or not you got a December date.

Wow!! Great news Ronmay and RobHankins. Congratulations!!

I have a feeling that the USE recently decided to add a few more interview dates in December and then they filled them with the next available petitions waiting for a date. Ronmay and RobHankins were at the top of the queue of cases without interview dates. What a fortunate break for you guys! But that's the way of immigration - so much random luck in the process. Just enjoy the good breaks when they happen.

The December interview list was pathetic, only covering 11 days of approved petitions. Looks like the USE is interrupting their extended holiday break to get some work done.

Can anyone tell me the fastest way possible to get a new NBI Clearance? Ours is over six months old and we had planned on a Feb interview. Now I need one muy pronto.

Rob,
She can just go to her local NBI office. Make sure she asks for a NBI clearance for travel abroad or travel to the US. I think they're pretty fast.

(my fiancee is going for a new one tomorrow)

Hello Everyone,

PW, Please update us. Rosemarie has her interview on January 25, 2007. Can someone tell me what a "CFO" is? My wife has said nothing about it, nor has our attorney. I am just curious.

Thanks,

Glenn

She must attend a CFO Seminar before she can leave the country. This is a Philippines government requirement. The seminar is given in Manila and Cebu.

PS: Your attorney is a slacker.

Jeez........ I had wondered what a CFO was. What did I pay an attorney for?

I think for his country club dues.

Hey guys. The CFO lady at the seminar told my gal that she would not be allowed to use her knockoff L. Viton luggage to travel to the US since they are banned by the US govt. Anybody heard of this, and which agency would be implementing the policy. My quick scan of the regs found nothing.

What, you mean they sell knock-off goods in the RP?

I'm going to call and find out tomorrow but Michigan requires both parties submit a SSN for a marriage Cert. Of course she won't have one a week after she comes over. I know this is off topic, just curious if anyone knows how to do it. :help: I'd rahter ask in here. :P

Wind, this is the response we got from the Oakland County Clerk when we inquired about me not having SSN, driver's license and state ID when applying for marriage license.

"She can bring in her passport and her birth certificate. He (you) must provide us with birth certificate and driver's license to show he is an Oakland County resident."

I will send you by PM our entire inquiry and the response of the County Clerk.

Just to clarify, a NSO certified birth certificate is not the same as a birth certificate issued by the NSO and printed on NSO security paper (whatever that is!).

I have the feeling that is what is happening is people are showing up with corrected or amended BCs issued by local NSO offices, and that due to the amount of fraud going on, the Embassy is requesting BCs from the NSO office in Manila which are always printed on NSO security paper to make sure it is legit.
The NSO things is causing quite a stir.

Let's see if this will help:

A childbirth is recorded in the local civil registrar's office of the town or city where he/she was born. With this registration, the parents get a copy of the child's BC. This BC is just printed on ordinary legal sized paper. The civil registrar's office then forwards this record (or copy of the BC) to the National Statistics Office (NSO).

Now, when we talk about the certified NSO BC, it's a given that it will be printed on the NSO security paper (or NSO Secpa). The NSO will not issue a BC that is not printed on their Secpa.

It won't matter which NSO office you got it from (be it in Davao, Cebu, Manila, etc) as long as it is an NSO office. Take my case for example: I was born in Manila, registered in a local civil registrar's office there but I got my NSO BC from an NSO office in another province. i didn't have any problem with it. :)
My fiancee has a BC from the NSO in Cagayan de Oro and it is NOT on security paper.
Really??? wow that must be something. NSO offices should issue BC on their security paper ( well all NSO local offices issues BC on security paper) . Not unless you ask from your local civil registrar - then they will give you a BC that in no the security paper.

Gary - it may be that ( welll most probably) your fiance went to the local civil registrar not to the local NSO office coz they are separate offices and issues BC on different papers.
No, both her BC and CENOMAR are from the NSO in Cagayan de Oro. First she said they were not on security paper, now she told me she doesn't actually know what security paper is so she is not sure. You know I loce her, but each time I ask her she gives me a different answer.

She did say they are yellow and not plain paper. But she has a friend with a BC from NSO in Ozamis and it's blue! :o

She also has a BC from the local registrar which looks different from either of those.
OK then she got both the BC from NSO and from the local civil registrar. THe paper from the local register is just the regular bond paper or so but with the NSO it has a NSO logo on the upper left corner of the paper and the signature of Administrator and Civil Registrar General -NSO on the lower right corner of the paper. Don't worry she got both i think!

Well there are also people who are not much in paper works so we people who are very into that well I think what we coould do is that be very descriptive - ask your fiance those details and also take a look at the scanned BC posted by dims1. Or best is you ask your fiancee to scan the BC and send it to you so that you can take a look at it  Regarding the color- it doesn't matter it's the prerogative of NSO or their rule to issue whatever color it is. Earlier I was talking to my officemate and she just got her passport and she said her BC is color yellow then i showed her my BC and it's color green. whatever!!! Just as long as you got it from NSO office - that will suffice!!!
OK, after about an hour on the phone discussing the BC and CENOMAR paper, I still wasn't sure if the BC and CENOMAR were on security paper.

So, my fiance brought them to the cafe to show me in camera. They ARE on the yellow paper with background pattern, multicolor stripe on top and bottom, and blue NSO seal on upper left. I believe these are on NSO security paper.
heheheheh!!! well i think just be more specific, when theyare used to that they will definitely answer your questions directly!! I think time will be of the essence!!!hahahah!!! Just give them time to adapt!!! We Filipinos tend to be general in nature!!! Like where are you going??? THEREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! LOL!!! And especially if your fiancees are not accustomed to american people/ foreigners for that matter eversince. ;-)

elizabeth
Like this?

ME: "Is the BC on plain paper or does the paper have a pattern in the background like a bank check?"
HER: "Yes"

or

ME: "You have 2 BCs, one from your hometown and one from NSO in Cagayan. Does your friend Maria's BC look like one of those?"
HER: "The same"

I will also attend the interview.
What exactly do you expect to accomplish with this measure? Especially when you are told to wait outside while your girl is interviewed individually. I've heard more bad experiences than good with fiancees attending the interview. (i.e. the dude in the Metallica t-shirt copping a bad attitude and pissing everyone off at the embassy)
Actually what I've read about Manila is that you may or may not be allowed in the actually Q&A session with the CO. Some petitioners actually report that THEY get asked questions, but some report that they are asked to stay out. In either case the CO will know you are there. My lawyer also told me that it's a plus to be there.

I have posted a new sub topic in this section entitled "Birth Certificate Changes - AR"

If you guys want to take this to a focused area, it is there for us. I have everything very well organized and thoroughly checked and double checked for our interview. Knowing that this is an automatic AR kills me.

garya i believe your fiance is from CDO right? i got my BC here at the NSO CDO. and of course i believe all BC coming from the NSO itself is all being done and printed with their security paper. an NSO seal on the top left side, a barcode and serial no#'s on the bottom left side, printed name and signature by the Administrator and Civil Registar on the bottom right side. (i wish i could scan it for u but my scanner wont scan if one of the ink is empty)... but if u really want to make it sure, have ur fiancee go to the NSO office (easy to reach if your from CDO), or have her call the local office and ask if all security paper are the same regardless on where u requested ur BC... i wana hear what's the final verdict too! lol
So far the NSO in Manila has confirmed that all of their docs are issued on NSO security paper. I currently have another email request to clarify what the local NSO offices can provide, or get from the Manila office.

I don't intend to go to my fiancee's interview and have them tell us we are on AR because her BC or CENOMAR is not on the right paper!

Maybe this is why the US Embassy web site says this for requirements for the interview:

BIRTH CERTIFICATE. Your birth certificate should be a copy issued by the National Statistics
Office (NSO) and printed on NSO security paper
. If applicable, you should also submit NSO birth
certificates for all your children, even for those who are not applying for a visa. You may call the NSO
Information Center at 02-737-1111 to inquire on securing a birth certificate or visit their website at
www.census.gov.ph.

This is why I've been asking about the "NSO security paper" thing.

What does the NSO security paper look like, and how exactly can we tell if the CENOMAR and BC we have is on NSO security paper? :help:
i do think that BC/CENOMAR varies in colors. last 2002 i think the color of my BC from the NSO was green with 3 stamps on the front but the DFA took it for my passport. then i get another one this year colored pink (the paper itself) over top by some yellow colored ink, with no stamp this time. so colors or stamp doesnt really matter as long as you took it from the NSO itself (knowing there's a barcode and registered no# at the bottom), so the embassy might check that barcode whether what you have is a fake BC or not (just my guesses). i dont know about the CENOMAR though...
Thanks for the info. I think I'm reading here that only the NSO office in Manila issues the BC and CENOMAR on NSO "security paper", and that the paper is rather distinctive-looking.

Does anyone know if you can order this through a local NSO office or does it have to be requested at the Manila office?
[/quote

try to call NSO helpline 027371111 to order
I already know you can order online or by phone from Manila. What I want to know is, can my fiance go to her local NSO office and order the BC and CENOMAR on NSO security paper from the NSO in Manila.
Yes, she can get her BC and CENOMAR at her local NSO office. It's cheaper than ordering online. I got mine from NSO Davao City i ordered 2 copies of my BC and one for CENOMAR.

i do think that BC/CENOMAR varies in colors. last 2002 i think the color of my BC from the NSO was green with 3 stamps on the front but the DFA took it for my passport. then i get another one this year colored pink (the paper itself) over top by some yellow colored ink, with no stamp this time. so colors or stamp doesnt really matter as long as you took it from the NSO itself (knowing there's a barcode and registered no# at the bottom), so the embassy might check that barcode whether what you have is a fake BC or not (just my guesses). i dont know about the CENOMAR though...

Thanks for the info. I think I'm reading here that only the NSO office in Manila issues the BC and CENOMAR on NSO "security paper", and that the paper is rather distinctive-looking.

Does anyone know if you can order this through a local NSO office or does it have to be requested at the Manila office?

try to call NSO helpline 027371111 to order

I already know you can order online or by phone from Manila. What I want to know is, can my fiance go to her local NSO office and order the BC and CENOMAR on NSO security paper from the NSO in Manila.

OMG....We didn't know about a cenomar! It amazes me that I have an atorney and he has said nothing of this! Where does she get a cenomar?

If never married, a Certificate of No Marriage Record (CENOMAR) issued by the National Statistics Office (NSO) and printed on NSO security paper should be submitted. You may call the NSO Information Center at 02-737-1111 or visit the NSO webpage at https://www.ecensus....re/frmIndex.asp to secure a CENOMAR (Singleness).

This thread is a bit long for me to figure out who is the keeper of this list.
But, I added myself to the end. Thanks, this was exactly the info I was looking for earlier.

I'd like to thank whoever put me in the Feb guess group, though I've told my fiancee to expect late Feb or early March. :D
