Well, I guess the letter arrived at the doctors yesterday. I guess maybe it was held up by the postal strikes haha. It took long enough to get there!

So in regards to the medical stuff, I guess Neal's GP sent the letter, but Knightsbridge never received it. Don't know if it was lost in the post or something. So Neal got another copy of the letter from his GP and is going to hand deliver it to Knightsbridge ASAP. Hopefully his won't hold things up too much!

APPROVED!!!

Apparently it was pretty easy, although the whole process took about 5 hours. For some reason they still don't have his medical stuff. Neal had to get an extra letter from his doctor and they told him they sent it to Knightsbridge weeks ago, but it never got back to the Embassy?!? So Neal's going to have to ring up and find out where everything is and hopefully it won't be too much longer until he gets his visa. We don't leave until September 18th, so I'm not terribly worried, it's just frustrating!

I'll find out more details from Neal later, he rang me quickly to tell me what happened, but was starving and off to find some grub!

4 hours to go....

Longest night EVER.

I am just waiting until Neal wakes up so I can remind him not to forget his passport and appointment letter. I am sure he already has them, he is often more organized than me, but I am on of those paranoid people.

Good Luck Neal&Cari. I will be looking out for you tomorrow and really hope you have an easy interview.

Right, now where was I??? Ah yes, worrying.......

Thanks! Haha, don't worry about it. I know my mind seems to be turning in to spaghetti right now. Best of luck to you too!

And many thanks to everyone else!

United KingdomWorst Mistake Ever...
Well, after I told Neal several times NOT to open the MBE, he went and totally forgot and opened it. They never told him at the interview and he never saw the stamp on the back, and he claims to not remember me ever telling him. So we're going to send it back to get it resealed. Hopefully it's not too big a deal since he isn't leaving for another month, but I have a couple of questions.

What address should he send it to? Is it just Visa Services Department at the U.S. Embassy or something? Does he send his passport back too or just the MBE?

Thanks for your help! I can't wait until this is over!

United KingdomHow Did You Meet Your USC/UKC?
Neal and I met on a messageboard for a band I used to really like but now only sort of like. Lucky coincidence, he was not a fan but a friend of his convinced him to join the board. They stopped being friends, but Neal stayed on the messageboard and used to talk the silliest rubbish. Every once in a while we'd reply to each other, but nothing more than that. This was back in 2003 or so. He actually got another friend Pete to join the messageboard, and I ended up talking to Pete on MSN before I ever conversed with Neal. I didn't even realize they were friends in real life. I was always greatly amused by Neal and finally he added me to MSN to talk (sometime beginning of 2004). We talked more an more, and by that summer, we were messaging constantly. I began to really like him, but felt rather ashamed of my feelings for someone I knew I'd never meet. Plus, I was convinced he didn't feel the same way about me. Fall of 2004 rolls around, and I am really quite smitten and it's driving me crazy! Especially since he seemed to like me, but essentially told me I was too far away. Finally, in November of 2004, he told me that he loved me and we decided to try a relationship. We were both pretty shy, so didn't even talk on the phone until after that! Then I flew out to meet him on January 1, 2005. Since then, I have lived with him off and on for almost a year, and he has visited me over here six times. He asked me to marry him in August 2005, but we didn't make any concrete plans (I was still in school, so it didin't make sense). I lived with him from June through December of last year, and before I came back to the US, we decided to file for the I-129F.

I left the UK last year, but there is one at Paddington Station and I remember seeing one in Wimbledon.

The one nearest Neal is in New Malden, which seems the most random place to have one ever. There is also one in Victoria Station.

They've been across the pond for a while. There's one not too far from my fiance that has been there the whole 2.5 years I've been visiting (i'm not sure how long before that it opened). They're too much for me but the SO loves them. The skinny #######!

I'm sure that will be fine.

We had the choice of a 4- or 6-hour layover, and we just gave ourselves 6 hours just in case, but I'm sure we'll just be there twiddling our thumbs for most of it. The worst thing that would happen is they would have to put you on the next flight, but you wouldn't really lose anything.

QUOTE (Niagaenola @ Aug 30 2007, 08:22 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
You will find it very difficult to get an employer to employ you as a non-EU citizen without a NINO... your visa may allow you to work but without the NINO to prove you are registered to work most wont... or they will contact the local DWP office to verify you are allowed to work...

and as for Temp NNO's they no longer issue then to anybody... you have to wait for your passport and visa to be cleared by your local DWP office....

When I appled for an NI number last year, it took about 5 weeks or something to get an appointment for an interview. It didn't seem to bother any of my employers - I just showed them my work visa and told them I would give them my NI number as soon as I received it. No one seemed bothered by doing it that way. Maybe it depends on the type of work (I was working at film/commercial production companies).

Neal and I were married this past Friday the 19th. Everything went perfectly, I was so happy. We planned the wedding while doing the visa process even though we were told to wait and it all worked out so...phew! Sorry I haven't been around much lately but everything was so busy.

I just wanted to say thank you to all of you here who helped me through the process. Now onto AOS!

USCIS Service CentersUSCIS Processing Times
hi. i'm so confused too! i have applied for a K1 visa for my finance from Ecuador. we received our I-797 NOA1 on Jan 30th. i live in AZ so i had to apply to the California service center. it looks like from the timelines on this site that it only takes about 3 months to process/ get your visa approved. but when i go to the USCIS website i see their last post from March 15th says that they are just now looking at applications dated Sept 13, 2006 -- which is 6 months ago! i'm confused. any clarification you could give me is greatly appreciated.
thanks!

United KingdomLondon Embassy Packet 3 Question
We just received our NOA2, so awaiting the NVC info and then packet info from the London Embassy. We are on a very tight schedule, as our wedding is already set for August, and my fiancee Chris and I are currently in New Zealand, and Chris will not return to the UK until just before his interview date.

Chris lived in the States already for 18 months, but on a J-1 visa. Will he need a police check for that time?

Any other tips on ways to get things done from abroad? We want to make sure that we don't lose any time with filling in the forms and getting signature sent back for submission.

Thanks!

United KingdomAny trouble trying to visit the states while waiting for packet 4???

Believe me, TimsDaisy - I completely know how you feel! I was in the same boat right before our NOA2. London being speedy doesn't help one iota when still stuck at the service center...!

Sorry to depress those waiting on Service Centers... :(

I just got my packet 4 today (Apr 30th), having sent off my packet 3 on April 23rd. My interview is June 7th. They are moving pretty quickly, I hope it lasts for you all.

That's great news. Good to know that interview dates are starting to line up in June now. Chris sent some of packet 3 in back on April 1st, but didn't send the checklist in until April 26th. I guess I should update my timeline to show the progress.

Chris may risk coming to the states for a week or two to visit. If he has an intervew date I'm hoping that would ensure that he wouldn't be denied entry seeing as he would most certainly make it back to London for his scheduled interview date.

United KingdomAny trouble trying to visit the states while waiting for packet 4???
Hi everyone. My fiancee and I have been travelling, and Chris was planning on flying back to the UK in several weeks for his Medical and hopefully his interview. However it looks like the dates are taking a lot longer these days, and still no word on Packet 4 or an interview date?

We were hoping he could come visit me in the states for a few weeks so that we wouldn't have to be apart for so long. Has anyone done this??? Did you have a lot of trouble going through Immigration on arrival? Has anyone been denied? Just don't want to pay all the money for the plane ticket if it is not going to work!

Thanks!

United KingdomIs London now on a Go Slow?

 NP!

Friday always seemed to be a good time to call the DOS. I would recommend you call around 9pm Engerland time. We found out our interview date a week before packet 4 arrived. Hope that helps.

Great tip! I'll be on the phone on Friday, no doubt!

We sent in Packet 3 on the 23rd of April I think, and received Packet 4 on May 11th, with an Interview Date for June 5th! This seems pretty fast to me, so I think there's hope for you too! We were expecting to wait a lot longer, but were pleasantly surprised. Good Luck!!!
