Congrats on the NOA2!!!

And of COURSE you can join us FutureMrs. Hey I think there are a FEW of us who are thread hoppers. I have to see what's going on with everyone - call me nosey!

That's me too. I feel stuck in between February and March because I am right on the cusp...my online NOA1 is March 1. :P

I had a dream the other night that I received my NOA2. It seemed so real; in my dream I kept checking my email and rereading the notice and I called everyone excited about the news. Then I woke up and realized it was just a dream and felt awful. :(

We got our NOA1 today WOOT! :dancing:

Yay! I still haven't gotten mine, but I called USCIS today and they said it was sent Monday and gave me my receipt number (which had been indecipherable on the image of my check). They were much more speedy and nice and helpful on the phone than I thought they would be. They said my NOA1 was sent Monday, so I should get it any day. B)

How many days after the check clears in your account do you usually get the NOA1? And does it mean anything if the NOA1 takes longer for one person than another? I can't read the number on the back of my check and I am just getting worried since I haven't heard anything. I hope I didn't mess anything up.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion 18: How you met.
Is this referring to how you first met or how you've met over the past 2 years? Should it be in paragraph form or with bullet points or what? Sorry if this has been asked many times before!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresBlue or Black ink?

My fiance sent me his forms signed in black ink, but then I was told by an attorney it should have been blue because they might think it's a copy and gives us an RFE. Does this claim hold much weight? Thanks in advance!

That attorney hasn't seen a color copy machine yet? :help:

I mentioned that, but her response was that the people looking at the forms are less likely to think about that.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAnother pestery thread on relationship evidence...

Looks like you got everything in order and ready to file your I-129F anytime now. As for the letter of intent to marry, I'm sure it won't hurt if you will get a new one from your fiancee instead of correcting it yourself and get an RFE later. And oh, you might want to include a certified copy of your birth certificate as proof of citizenship. Just my .02 too :)

Mae

I got a birth certificate recently from the vital records office, but I'm not sure if it's short form or long form or whether it matters. And does this mean it's certified?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAnother pestery thread on relationship evidence...
I know this is a bit annoying, but if anyone has a few moments to spare to give me some peace of mind, it would be appreciated muchly! I'm so so close to sending off my petition, and I'm getting uber-nervous about everything. And I'd love to avoid an RFE.

Following is a list of the evidence I have to submit. I know it's impossible to say what's enough and whether they'll believe you, but I'm just wondering, ballpark-wise, if it's sufficient or seems like too much, or whatever:

Stamps to UK in my passport (January 2005, May-August 2005, January 2006, June-December 2006)
Fiance's stamps to US in his passport (March-April 2005, May 2005, October 2005, March 2006, May 2006)
Copy of British Airways sticker on the front of fiance's passport with date, flight number, and his name. (October 2005)
Postcard I sent to him from Italy saying I was looking forward to seeing him. (March 2005)
Email Correspondence about his flight back in April 2005.
E-Confirmation/Itinerary for my trip to UK January 2006.
Copy of tram ticket from fiance's visit in March 2006.
E-Confirmation/Itinerary for fiance's trip to US May 2006.
E-Confirmation/Itinerary for my trip to UK June-December 2006.
Bank statement with activity in the UK August-September 2006.
Letter with my National Insurance Number sent to me at fiance's address in the UK September 2006.
Letter about my new UK bank account sent to me at fiance's address in the UK, signed by me November 2006.
Copies of 4 receipts from my trip to the UK June-December 2006 (including one for a Christmas present I bought fiance!).
17 photos of us together over the trips, with location and date identified, including ones when my dad visited and met his parents and when fiance met my grandma, aunt and uncle.

Also, on a completely different note, I emailed my fiance a filled-out letter of intent for him to print and sign and send back, and I put 2006 instead of 2007! He didn't notice, and I didn't realize until I got it back in the mail. (It was January 2nd and I wasn't thinking!) Do I need to get him to send another one? My dad the lawyer says, since I technically have his permission, I can fix this with a pen and forge my fiance's initials...

Thanks in advance!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWorried about denial at POE
Thanks for all your responses. I'm still going to worry constantly about it, because, you know...but I think it's worth a try.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWorried about denial at POE
I know most people say don't risk it, etc. But my fiance really wants to come visit at the end of February. He has 9 days of paid holiday left before new holiday starts in March and wants to use it, since it might be the last time he can take holiday. If his employer (DHL) mentions that he is just using up the rest of his holiday in their letter and thathe is expected back at a certain date, will this help? Along with pay stubs, bank statements, his return ticket, proof that he owns 2 vehicles in the UK and rents a garage for them, etc.? He does'nt have a rental agreement or mortgage since he lives with his parents. We haven't filed the I-129F yet, but were going to in the next few days so we can hope to have it processed by the end of the year. I don't really want to have to wait 2 more months to file if possible.

I know it's all up to the POE officer and you can't really say, but what percentage of people are denied entry? I really want to see him, I miss him loads. He makes more money than I do, so it's easier for him to visit this one last time before we don't see each other for a long, long time. :(

Would just like to hear other people's ideas about/experiences with this.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiling buddies
I am just preparing to file. I've got everything in order, I just need to look over things a few more times to make sure! I'm hoping to send it off by next week.

My fiance lives in the UK, and I'm in New Mexico, so we'll be filing at the Texas Service Center.
NealandCariFemaleUnited Kingdom2007-01-16 21:30:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSigning additional sheets
I somehow skimmed over that part about needed to date and sign additional sheets on the I-129F. Is this also true for the G-325A? My fiance sent me his forms with an additional sheet detailing the rest of his employment history, but didn't sign and date this. Is this crucial? I've had to have him resend things several times now. Does he have to resend this as well? :(

And where on the sheets should you sign and date? Just right at the bottom?

I can't wait for this all to be done so I can hurry up and wait!

Also, everywhere the I-129F Texas Service Center address is posted on the USCIS site, it has an extra "1" in the zipcode. I did not notice this at first, so my fiance put that number in the address on his letter of intent. I don't think this is a problem because the typo occurs all over the USCIS site, but what do you think?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFile now or wait?
So how long should we wait to file? Should I send it in a week before he gets here? Or can I send it in a bit sooner sooner?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFile now or wait?
I have my petition just about ready to go, but I am worried about one little thing. My fiance is visiting in about a month, and my aunt, who used to work for an immigration lawyer, said to wait to file so he is not denied entry. I want to file sooner rather than later, so we can be together long-term sooner (I miss him so!), but should I wait to file a week or so before he comes so he's not likely to show up in the computer at customs? Or can I just file now and hope for the best?
NealandCariFemaleUnited Kingdom2007-01-21 00:55:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow long does it take for your case to get into the computer?
I don't want to wait until after, because that will delay it so much when it's jsut about ready to send off. The latest I'll wait is until he's here, but I'd prefer not to. And he definitely won't overstay, he's only coming for 2.5 weeks (using the last of his paid holiday up) and he needs to keep his job right now!

I don't think there'd be a problem sending it sooner, and that thread Buxton babe showed was reassuring. I am just waiting to receive the forms he's resent and the copy of his birth certificate and all that, which should hopefully come this week. I am torn between waiting (if there are potential problems) and just getting the thing in the mail. And I worry because I am a worrywort!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow long does it take for your case to get into the computer?
I am thinking about delaying sending in my petition to avoid any problems at the POE when my fiance visits the US in mid-February. I thought maybe if I sent it right before, it wouldn't be in the system yet and they wouldn't ask him about it when he comes. He has proof of ties to his country (letter from his employer who he's been with for 3.5 years, bank statements, pay stubs, proof of ownership of two cars in the UK), but I am still nervous he will be turned away or something at customs and it's the last time I'm going to see him for possibly many months!

When should I send it if he comes on February 16th? Any suggestions? Or should I just send it whenever and not worry too much about denying entry?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresReceipt Number
I can see on my online banking that my check cleared today, though I haven't received my NOA1. I was just wondering which number on the back of the check do I use to log onto the USCIS site? There are a gazillion stamps that are kind of hard to read and none of them seem to start with letters and I'm confused.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresRFE???
I think the brith certificate varies from state to state. I live in New Mexico, and I don't think there is any such thing as short form or long form. I was worried because it says to copy both sides, but mine is only one-sided. But that's the only one you can order, no one seems to know about anything longer. It does have both my parents' names on it, so hopefully I should be ok.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTouched?
My NOA1 was March 5, but my case was last updated March 7. There is no further description when I click on the receipt number, so I assume my case was just handled. Is this a touch then, just not a full one?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTimeline question
Is there any way to filter down the results of the K1 visa timelines? By that I mean see the average days for, say, someone filing for a United Kingdom citizen through TSC/CSC. It only gives the average time for all files through CSC and only from NVC to interview for the UK. I know the country doesn't always matter up until that point, but I was just curious to see how long the average for the United Kingdom is from filing to interview in comparison to the whole and if there is a difference there.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F Package Layout
I made a cover sheet for the prrof of relationship as well, which was just a list of the items I provided and the date, so they knew exactly what evidence I provided.

As for the evidence photos, I didn't put them in clear plastic sleeves but glued each one to a plain white piece of paper. That way, I could point easily to things in the picture. And then I put the location and date under the photo. I hope this is okay, my aunt used to work for an immigration lawyer and this is what they always did apprently.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAdjudication dates typically accurate?
Ours was about three weeks early. Though there have been some people who have filed through the same service center and have had to wait 4 months or more (much longer than the estimated adjudication date!) for no real reason. You can never predict what tricks USCIS will pull.
NealandCariFemaleUnited Kingdom2007-06-11 20:12:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMarriage other than in USA
Yeah, if you get married outside the U.S., you will take the spousal visa/K3 route, which is more involved and takes longer from what I understand. You get married there, and then you will have to wait in Canada for the lengthy processing before you can come here. If you want to go the K1 route, you can have a non-legally binding ceremony in Canada, and the legal one in the States, or you can go the other way and have your marriage in the U.S. and a big reception in Canada.
