Hi Ralph&Hanh,

Sorry about the hold-up...this happened to my case too.....I was divorced and had to provide spouses current residence and info, unfortunately, this is the case with all divorced people filing K-1 Visas. Ask M.E. He is your best advocate now to get you through this mess....I only had to wait 56 days before he got me out of A.R. vs waiting 6 months. So hang in there brother and you will be with your sweetie soon...

If I had known you were divorced, I would have told you about the ex-spouse current address document...and I understand it is a pain having to have them make that document for you, the other thing you can do, is go-online and pay for a back-ground check on your ex-spouse so you dont have to deal with her directly.

all the best..

-Guy&Hoa

God Bless you! I just looked it up and I can do a state bachground check for $30 smile.gif Thank you thank you thank you kicking.gif

I talk to the head of my department today to see about going full time. Once again, the economy is hitting hard. And I will know in a week or two if I will be full time or laid off. Isn't that just Great!?!

Sorry! Even if you get laid off, you still can use your assests (if you have) in place of your income. That was what I did for K-1 interview and Green Card adjustment, and it was acceptable without a co-sponsor. Good luck to you! wacko.gif

We got the Mysterious Brown Envelope back today, resealed. Neal is at work, so I made sure to put it away carefully, unopened. biggrin.gif

Like other people said, it took 4 days to get it back from when we sent it (SMS picked it up Tuesday). Just for future reference to anyone out there--it was pretty quick and easy peasy!

Well, despite the small hold-up with the medical stuff, Neal got a text today from SMS saying the visa will be delivered tomorrow! Knightsbridge only recieved the letter from his doctor last Friday, so I guess they got it right off to the Embassy and it didn't take too long from there!

Congrats!! Conrad got his 2 days later, couldn't believe it! When is his travel date?

I am going to visit him for a month next Tuesday, and we will be travelling back together September 18th, so there's really no rush, it'll just be nice to have it in his hands!

As of today, USC's are no longer allowed into the Embassy with the visa applicant. Change of policy starting today apparently! Hubby brandished his US Passport and they said NO!! One person managed to slip their wife in to the waiting room, someone spotted her and asked her to leave the building....

Just a warning to the folks with their interviews coming up......

Good thing I didn't rush my trip to London for the interview then!

Does anyone know if you are allowed to take a friend with you into the embassy? My friend is coming to London with me for the day and she doesn't really want to be stuck in London by herself for a few hours while i'm at the interview. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks

I don't think they are allowed in. I believe you have to be a USC or have an interview appointment. Please correct me if I am wrong anyone.

Neal had his mother with him because they were going to go walking around London afterwards, and they wouldn't let her in the Embassy, so I'm thinking probably not, unfortunately.

So I won't make it for the interview, but I booked a trip out to the UK anyway, to help Neal sort everything out/help him transport stuff/provide moral support. Plus I need a vaction! I'll be flying out August 21st, and then coming back with Neal through JFK September 18th!

I'm excited, but I don't think I'll be fully relieved until after the interview. I finally sent my affidavit stuff, and it shoud be arriving in London via DHL right about now, but I'm still paranoid about everything!

I am now officially in panic mode. I have all my extra evidence gathered to send over to Neal, and my affidavit. But I still need to get all the paperwork from my co-sponsor. I probably should have gotten that already, but I was worried if I did it too soon, and then our interview was way in the future, it would be out of date. I was originally going to use my dad as a cosponsor, but since he owns a business and most of his income is from investments, it seemed it would be a bit tricky going that route, what with all the supporting evidence he'd need. So my uncle agreed to do it, since he is employed as an engineer and earns a good income from his employer (and my aunt, who used to work in an immigration attorney's office, said it would be easier). But my aunt is also heavily pregnant and due any day (official due date is July 29), so I am paranoid that things will get crazier and now the affidavit won't get done in time. Eek!

Sorry, just had to rant. I hate being such a worrier!

Congratulations Converse!!

And thank you Daisy, I will look into that. And I've been taking the DoS info with a grain of salt because I always seem to get the same cranky lady.

Cari, I think they will accomodate you. I've watched this stuff for well over two years and I truly believe London attempts to meet the needs of its customers. No small feat when you consider the amount of traffic they have, and the fact that they really don't have too. After all, it's written all over every document they send out to not plan travel until the visa is approved.

I know you are anxious with the Sept 1 date looming and I know that because oddly you are almost on exactly the same schedule we were two years ago. We returned P3 in early July and were requesting a Sept 1 travel date with an Oct 1 wedding date. The consulate provided us an interview of Sept 6 - plenty of time for our wedding to take place.

I don't believe the consulate has not 'taken into account' your request. They just haven't gotten to you yet. This consulate really is one of the fastest and most customer friendly in the system. IMO under normal circumstances there is no need to 'over manage' your case with phone calls and emails. If someone hasn't heard from them in a month - that's a long time. Anything less than that is simply the normal process.

Try to relax and breath deep. London will get to you. They got to us. I've got a two-year anniversary coming up and a stack of my husband's dirty laundry to prove it.

All things worthwhile are worth waiting for.

Thanks Rebecca. I know I shouldn't worry too much, but I am a little bit of a worrywort/control freak and it's been the longest I've gone without seeing Neal and I think the emotions of that get wrapped up into it a bit. I wouldn't mind an early September date, I'd just like to know when soon! And I really hope it's not too late in September. When I get a vague email reply that they will schedule an appointment in September and they still haven't set a specific date, it just gets frustrating!

Yeah, maybe I should have included a cover letter with our packet. We put our travel date as September 1st, because we need to take care of a lot of stuff before the wedding, but they haven't taken that into account. I asked on the DoS line if they take that into account, and they said no, that I just have to wait until they schedule everyone else's and see where they can fit mine. I emailed them again about it, but is it also worth calling do you think?

Now I am really starting to get worried. I called DoS and they still haven't qualified us for an interview date apparently. I mentioned that several other people had sent theirs around the same time and were already eligible, and asked what could be holding ours up. The lady answered with the usual "It's too soon," but also said that there could be a problem with the paperwork. She then asked if I'd sent in my affidavit of support and I told her I was under the impression that I brought that to the interview, not sent it in my P3, and she just replied she didn't know, it could be any number of things. She then told me to call London to see if there is any other paperwork they need. I am really worried we've done something wrong, though I can't think what it could be. :( And why do I always get the cranky ladies at DoS?

Should I call the London extortion line to find out about paperwork? Was I supposed to include the I-134? I just don't know what to do, it's making me so paranoid.

I also put Sept 1 as a travel date, but put Sept 15 as wedding date. I also had Conrad send it recorded delivery.

I couldn't really fudge about our wedding date, as everything is booked. Plus I will probably use all my vendor contracts as possible extra evidence at the interview.

Ours was sent recorded as well, signed for on June 25. They finally entered the case into the computer as received July 9. But we still aren't eligible for an interview date for some reason. We were very careful about double-checking everything on the forms, but I am paranoid we did something wrong! I need to just relax about it, but it's so dang hard.

Congrats, psho!! It looks like they're finally getting their butts in gear!

Just a question, what email do you use for the Embassy? is it LondonConsular@state.gov? Do you just have to keep emailing them until they don't automatically delete your email without reading it like they've done mine?

I am wondering because I wanted to email them about our medical date. Neal didn't get through to set one up before he sent off the P3, so he simply wrote "pending" for medical date on the checklist. He called the next business day and set up an appointment for a week later, July 3. I wanted to inform the Embassy that he had, in fact, already gone to his medical. I am worried they will wait to give us an interview date if they have not received the forms from the doctors (Neal had to go into his GP July 4 to give them a form requesting they send a letter regarding his past depression and I'm not sure how quickly the doc sent the letter back to Knightsbridge).

We put September 1st as our travel date, so I'm hopeful they will take that into account.

I know you can't go just by people's timelines, but just a month ago people were getting their P4s a week after posting their P3s! Neal had his medical today and said it went really well. Apparently they were really laid back and nice in the office. They told him he needed his tetanus shot since he hasn't had one since 1997, but they still marked it as okay and said to get it done somewhere cheaper and it was no big deal. They gave him a form to take to his doctor to get a letter about his history of depression, and as soon as they get that back, they'll send it to the Embassy.

Still waiting on that P4 though.

I called the DoS number just now -- the latest notation on the computer is the receipt of Packet 3 forms from my guy on June 4 -- no notation of receipt of checklist or anything since then.

The DoS operator said "Maybe they just haven't updated their computers yet" but it's been 12 days since they got the checklist.

If it hasn't changed by Thursday night, we're calling the extortion line.

I called DoS today too, and they have no indication of receipt of our Packet 3, and they told us the same thing ("They probably haven't updated their computers yet, give it a couple more weeks and call us back"). Oh well.

I take those dates with a grain of salt too, because there are some people who take longer than others to send back Packet 3. 83 days is based on people who have both sent their Packet 3 before even recieving it, and those who have taken a month to send it back, since it is based from when the Embassy receives the case from the NVC rather than when they receive Packet 3. We sent our packet back two days after receiving it, so I'm hoping in my heart of hearts for slightly faster turn-around. Though on the other hand I know there is no rhyme or reason to this process in the slightest.

I called DOS today, because I saw that our Packet 3 had been received (i.e. signed for), but they don't have acknowledgement of receipt in their system yet. Oh well.

I am wondering, we never sent a cover letter with our Packet 3 explaining our wedding plans or anything. Neal only sent a cover letter explaining the contents of his packet. We put our travel date as September 1st and our wedding date as October 19 on the form, but provided no supplementary letter about this. Do you think we'll need one? I mean, i am still holding out hope for an interview date end of August/beginning of September, just so Neal can come to the States a little early to help out with final wedding plans. We have already put down deposits for October 19th, but have not booked flights or anything yet. I just don't want to have to have the interview too close to the wedding date so we have to scramble to get everything together over here. Is there anything we can do to indicate this or will the dates on the form be enough?

Thanks in advance!
