Asia: East and PacificBlue
Hi all:

Is blue a good thing or bad? The blue slip looks generic and all intructions are translated to Vietnamese except for one paragraph re: timeline of relationship is not translated to Vietnamese, why? They ask for 1)timeline of relationship in detailed story and 2) proof of purchase of airline tickets--paid by cash or credit card? I compared mine and my friend who was interviewd by the same CO, we both got same instructions.

Anyone out there has any expirences re: blue slip, please help/share.

Gracias!

I just went 3 weeks ago and it was $1250 inclusive of visa from Houston to Saigon via Eva. However, it is $1550 for July. I paid over 6K for tickets for myself, my wife, my kid and mother this coming trip in July ... Ouch ... It really hurts.

$1550 is too high- rip-off:o That's even much higher than the Vietnamese Tet season. The most I heard for Tet was $1400 round trip. $1250 seems right about what I paid too around this time.

Hi Peter:
You paid $962 for EVA Air round trip tickets? Was the visa fee included in that amount too or U had to pay separate? If separate, how much was the visa fee?

QUOTE (PeterFB @ Mar 26 2008, 10:15 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I have found booking your flight 30 days in advance, staying between 10 days and 22 days, flying out on Wednesday or Thursday have been the cheapest flights. However I have flown different airlines for each trip, because of price. Trip 1-United, trip 2-EVA and trip 3-China Airlines each had the cheapest price for each of my trips. I have to say I liked EVA the best so far in the Economy class because their planes are newer (777) than United (I flew on 474-400 that were old), China Airlines had both new and old 474s. The old 474 don't have the entertainment centers. The 474 that Thi and I flew back on was so old that the window seats still had ash trays........

I paid $861(15 days), $962 (17 days), $1068 (10 days) for each round trip ticket LAX to Saigon (one stop on EVA, China Airlines, two stops on United). I found my tickets online, EVA was cheapest thru Expedia, the others I booked their website. I found cheaper flight on Phippine Airlines but the flight times were longer. All my flight were in the 16 hours time (Ex United which had a flight delay in Hong Kong for 6 hours due to mechanical problems, they gave me a $100 voucher for domestic travel for my time)

Also always use flexible times when looking for a flght. I found that the same flight one day eariler or later would be as much as $300 more. Most systems will give a 3-5 day either way (departing and arriving) grid so you can see the cheapest flight without having to research every combination of days.

Hola mbv:

Yes, you can write the same thing as you wrote on #18. This time write as many details as you can, same story but more details; they want as many details as possible. For me, I only wrote one paragraph on #18 when I first submitted I-129F, then I got a BLUE asking for timeline. I then wrote 2 pages - typed and 5 pages - hand-written, both were notarized and turned in to CO. CO OK'ed it and PINK slip smile.gif

Good luck!

Hello:

My fiancee arrived at LAX on 5/19/08; we filled out I-94 both parts arrival and departure on the form, but the officer only gave back the departure part stamped and stappled it in the passport. So how do we find out her Alien # and do we need this # to apply for SS card? How long is the wait to apply for SSN from date of arrival into the U.S using K1 visa? Any help would be appriciated!

Is that for the K1 visa? or for AOS?
In my country I didn't need any TB test neither in USA for Adjustment of status and was approved. I don't what are the rules about why some countries need to do that

It's for AoS. When my wife went to see the CS, he said that she needed TB skin test and blood test plus transfer docs to I-693. Cost $225. I called another CS and was quoted with prices: transfer docs to I693: $20, TB skin test: $15, and blood test: $25. That's a lot of differences from $225. I haven't done it yet, but will go to the one with 20$ for transfer docs and see what else she needed for her Medical/Vaccination.

Yes, the translator told my fiancee, now wife, that for me to take time and write the timeline in hand-writing. We submitted both typing and hand-writing timeline and were notarized. After that we're OK with a Pink slip. The Vietnamese translator was nice. Thank you. rose.gif

What is CR-1?

The CR-1 (less than 2 years married)/IR-1(more than 2 years married) Visa is an option that married couples have. It looks like you are doing a K-1, so it isn't an option for you.

It is essentially the best Visa you can get since it permits work immediately upon arrival. There is no Adjustment of Status (AOS).

Gracias for info!

Marriage License in Viet Nam is a hassle dealing w/ the Gov. It's easier in the U.S. K-1 is fine w/ me. smile.gif kicking.gif

Rodney,

It looks like most of the people on here received their Visa's. There were a few that received blue slips but once they submitted the documents a pink slip was issued. That is those who reported back anyway. I don't know how many were denied and never posted a thread.

My 1st blue slip asking for: timeline & proof or airline purchase>>>then got a green slip asking for both parents's birth certs & how I migrated to U.S under which program>>>then Pink slip! smile.gif

LOTS of people get by with only one trip. I didn't first time around but second time I made a point of doing more than one trip. No problems with the second immigration process but I had tons more pictures and evidence.

This is HCMC, not Manila. Some get by with only one trip to Viet Nam, but they appear to be few and far between. I'm actually amazed when a couple make it through with only one trip there.
