I have an insurance claim reimbursement coming to me at my new address >:I It was supposed to be at my old address weeks before I moved..but they goofed! Big shocker there, eh? So now I'll be stuck with a cheque I cant cash. I might have to send it up to a friend to deposit in my Canadian account I guess :(

I asked the same question awhile back and decided to try our bank just to see. We had absoloutely no issues. I've cashed three Canadian cheques there since March and havent paid any fees or anything. They just convert it into American funds and deposit it.

CanadaAOS interview...
I called USCIS today and they said that at the time of the interview they would give me a stamp. I really dont even know who has more information anymore, as I made an infopass appt for my EAD, and all they told me at that time was to call the 1 800 number! :wacko: Which, of course the 1800 number had been who told me to make the infopass appt in the first place. I'm reaaaaally getting frustrated with everything as nobody I contact seems to know anything except what I can already access online through the USCIS site, which isnt even updated to the current status! I guess though if I make an infopass appt, they can tell me if that office gives the stamps.

I cant seem to find a straight answer on the I-551 stamp. Ive read that they dont want to give them out anymore as it takes a few days to approve the AOS...I'm REALLY hoping they can do something for me, I cant drop out of a wedding a month before!!!!!

CanadaAOS interview...
SO, after calling and waiting and getting nowhere about my EAD still not here after 93 days...I recieved my AOS interview letter in the mail. I have a trip planned as my best friend is getting married in Edmonton on Sept 4th and I'm a bridesmaid, the rehearsal is Sept 2. My interview? Sept 1. Do I have to surrender my AP at the interview? Am I allowed to ask to keep it? I've read that it isnt a good idea to reschedule the interview, what are my options? :crying:

I guess I'm kind of lucky? I do homecare-type work. So little interaction with co-workers, maybe 1-2 hours per day? There's been a few slightly annoying ones but I'm usually out in my car driving around so I dont have to listen to them biggrin.gif

Yes they contacted me by email, and I think it was a few days after I filled out the form. Yes they still did my medical, after a loud annoyed sigh from the receptionist and her chewing me out for not reading properly. I think that if that's all I forgot, then I was doing pretty good :P

Its very easy :) Plan on being at both places for several hours, and for the love of god bring everything that is on the checklist for the medical. I forgot the photocopy of my passport and had my head bitten off :P Both places are pretty close to each other, and Vancouver is beautiful :) have fun! :)

The NVC still cannot find our case after a month from being approved. They asked me to send an e-mail to NVCResearch@state.gov. It's been a very hard week as is, and right now I'm inconsolable. Someone please tell me it doesn't take long from here. :(

I hear from people here that there are only two US consulates in Canada, in Vancouver and Montreal, but on the official website it says there's one in Calgary? So I was just wondering about that, whether the website is just out-dated or if the US consulates in Vancouver and Montreal are the only ones that interview K-1 applicants.

They're interested in your current earnings more than anything. If you can show, with however many paystubs you have, accompanied by a letter from your employer stating the usual job title, salary/ hourly pay rate, number of hours worked if hourly and state on your I-134 what your projected annual income is, you should be A-OK.

Calculation for projection is obviously taking your gross pay and multiplying it by 52 if paid weekly, 26 if fortnightly or 12 if monthly.

The fact that you were abroad for 6 months will be evident on your employment history on the G-325A. Include your most recent tax transcripts.

What about the year before you took the time out for studies?

The letter and paystubs you have isn't proof that you CAN make more, it's proof that you ARE making more.

I'm in a similiar situation. My fiance is getting a new job and will be making enough money to support me according to the Federal Poverty guidelines, but on his taxes, it won't show his new job, just his old one. If he got a letter from his employer stating his position and salary, would that be enough or would we have to wait longer until he had more evidence (W2s, taxes, etc.) to show he makes enough?

If anyone can answer this, that would be greatly appreciated. :)

Yes, the transcripts will list both taxpayers, but the income shown will be their combined income. You should include W2's, 1099's, or whatever is applicable to show the father's separate income.
