Thank u Robet - now I am trying to get sorted for the next bit - what now?!!!!!??

For one start hanging out onin the United Kingdom forum. You'll find a lot of advice that will be specific to your situation. I took a brief look there and found this thread that might be helpful to you.

http://www.visajourn...interview-2010/

I found a similar one in the Latin America forum and found reading all 100+ pages were helpful. You got work to do.

I know that most of you guys are still waiting for your NOA2's but I just wanted to let you know that when you get them, things will move very quickly. You all should try gathering all of the documents and other evidence that you might be needing for your interview. That's exactly what I am doing in preparation for an interview on January 19, 2011.

Hang in there! It will be worth it.

Praise God for that! Yea, I almost skipped that question, too, because they have it right after the military section lol. So, when you get an RFE, do you lose your place in line? That is, do you have to wait extra, or do they put you right back where you were before the RFE?

From what I've read, they do all of the review of your petition and when you receive an RFE it will be for everything that they found. The only time that they would issue another RFE would be because of any additional information that you submitted in responce to the original RFE. Do I smell a NOA2?

I am confused...how do you know the petition was approved if your status is still in initial review with the 10/3 date. Sorry, I know I'm missing something!

Sorry if I'm being unclear. When I checked the status this morning at 9:00am, the status still said initial review with an update date of 10/03/10. I got the text at 1:48pm and the status was Post Decision. When I checked the details, it said that they had approved it on 10/18/10.

Just out of interest did USCIS send you the text message?

Did you status say that it had changed anymore after the 10/03/10, sorry for all the questions I'm just trying to find out so I can keep an eye on ours

Congrats

No problem! The text and an email that I later discovered came from USCIS. The text of te message was "Your case EAC1090218xxx is now updated. Check "My Case Status" at www.USCIS.gov. *Msg and Data Rates May Apply. Reply HELP for help or STOP to stop text alerts."

Nothing changed on my status since the giant "TOUCH" on 10/03/2010. As recent as this morning, my status was still "Initial Review" with an update date of 10/03/2010.

Hey Lucy NY, I saw about 8 people get approved yesterday over at CSC. Maybe, Vermont can do the same everyday for a month. Wishful thinking.

:(

I was hoping to get the NOA2 in the beginning of October to avoid the upcoming holidays..... I think come November and December things probably come to a stop-
COME ON OCTOBER!!!

I agree. It would take a lot of luck to get an interview at the beginning of December. Anything later than that is probably going to be in the New Year.

I have just come totally despondent at seeing any NOA2's anytime soon. We had a flurry of two and now nothing.........again they have come to a halt! So fed up of waiting. When i first started this I would of predicted id be at packet 3 stage already :(

I know. There was a flurry of activity around the time that I was preparing our I-129F and hoped that it would be to our benefit; but I kept trying to get it perfect that I just missed the speed-up. Our personal timeline calls for my fiancee to arrive on Jan 4, 2011. It's still possible but with the holidays coming in December; it's becoming increasingly less likely.

balances would have to be brought forward from month to month. if you trace it backwards you can kinda get a picture when a given months files should be finished ( the average file )

I used to have to do breakdowns like that for inventories and did a quick one earlier in this post.

only thing that i didnt spend time figuring out was where the files awaiting customer actions fell in, to add that to my calc i would need more info, i mean who knows how long a file could sit their before its scrapped and the average time it takes a person to get the rfe info back to uscis.

I perfectly understand what you describe and would have no problem following it. It is for that reason that I have now started to follow Igor's list. See link below

http://www.visajourn...tion=2&sortby=2

Granted it's only a sample of all of the I-129F's that have been submitted but it gives you an idea of what's being worked on. Another problem is that because it is driven by self-provided data, the list is only as good as the providers (us) are diligent in entering and updating the data. But, it's only an estimate; an estimate that I can live with.

According to Igor's list, our petition has moved up on place. Yippeeee!!!!!

By the way for my beficiary's country, the average historical wait is something like 93 days from NOA1 to NOA2 so I don't have too much to complain about. But let's see what happens on day 94.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsJuly 2010 VSC filers

I am not quite sure what to make of these numbers, or even if they are accurate, so this is my guess.

According to USCIS, Vermont has:

5600 pending
884 Awaiting customer action
3000 Completions
2014 Receipts

Not sure if completions means NOA2 is ready, just not been sent. If I am right on this, they are halfway through.

I guess this is encouraging???

here

I looked at the graph and for the life of me I'm not sure what exactly they are trying to portray. It would make more sense to use a pie-chart but it seems to me that some of the data might be duplicative. Is this a point in time presentation or does it reflect the entire month? Is it cumulative or does each column stand on its own?

At any rate, if you did not round the numbers from 10/14/10, it would appear that there were 19 more completions since then.

Who knows. The wait goes on.

Any new NOA2's????

A couple with a Colombian beneficiary just received their NOA2 on 10/8. Their NOA1 was dated 6/27. In the group with Colombian beneficiaries, there are only 3 or 4 couples ahead of me and the soon to be misses.

I'm happy that we all got touched. Heck! I had been hoping for a major fondle. But who knows, several small touches may a fondle make. I can't help it; it's been so long since I've seen my fiancee that touches or fondles of a cyber nature are all that I can hope for for the moment. A NOA2 in October keeps our timeline on track.

another july filer here,i was looking at the trend and volume chart on the USCIS website and from what they habe posted there and what i could figure, July wont start moving till next month.

In July they received 2014 new I 129f cases but had a backlog of 5660 for a total of roughly 7600. in the previous month they completed roughly 4000 petitions and in july they completed 3000. If you look at the trend for the previous year they seem to slack off in july and increase in august ,Aug of 09 they completed 4800 and another 5000 in september.

If the same holds true for this year that backlog of 5660 should be knocked out in august which would be the may and june filers and july shoudl start moving in september and be finished in october.

mind you i am bored and just took a quick look at the numbers without creating my own spreadsheet and playing with the numbers so this should prolly only hold true for the average case.

but hey what do i know im sitting her on my couch drinking eating breakfast at 2pm wishing i could take a look at augusts actual numbers :(

I didn't do the indepth analysis that you did; but just using the average processing times, I expect July NOA2's to start flowing freely at the end of September or early October.

It's annoying to have to just sit and wait but looking at the numbers gives me hope.

Every day I check my timeline, the date it says my petition will probably be adjudicated a week later than before. So much for hoping we'd be married by the holidays.

At this point, I only hope that our interview will not be just before the holidays. Too many crazy things happen during this time of year, some good but others bad; but why take the chance. We originally talked about a February wedding but have been lately considering March.

We just celebrated 3 years in July. When we were "only" dating, I used to head down there every 2 to 3 months. Now that we are serious, we have to be serious with the money as well. Went 2 times this summer and she has told me no more trips until the interview at the embassy. I know that she's right, but I am so bummed out. Then I know that there will be lots of expenses that must be borne so that I can't even show up and surprise her. I know that she would be happy to see me but I don't know what will have to be sacrificed to make the trip.

It has been over 30 days since my petition was last touched. I think that I have only seen 2 NOA2's for July filers anywhere. Is there something wrong with July? Are we some kind of pariah? Don't worry, I'm not all that whacked out; I only wish that there was some kind of movement.

Today makes 30 days since I sent out the I-129f. The last touch on our petition was on 7/26/10. Looks as if the speed that had been seen by others has petered out. Not totally off-the-wall anxious yet, but NOA2 would be nice. We are going to start bumping into the holiday periods soon and if we have to make reservations at the last minute during the holidays, we'll have to give up the other arm and the other leg as well.

I mailed everything off yesterday to Vermont...and the waiting game begins. Funny thing is, rather than being excited, I was rather down today. Perhaps it is the roller-coaster effect.

It was kind of the same for me. I just felt that I should still be putting more documentation together. Then I got an email from the Post Office telling me that the package was delivered. So now I'm waiting for NOA1.

Ryna, thanks for your wishes. Hope that all goes well for you and that we can hear back on your experience in Bogota, as you are ahead of us.

After a couple of weeks of document gathering, I filed yesterday.

OK, so in my haste to let the world know that I sent in my I-129F, I reported it on a thread for California Service Center filers rather than on a thread for Vermont Service Center filere; since I sent the petition to VSC.

My bad! I'm still happy, anxious and everything else.

I have always used Vonage and have only recently had minor problems with TIGO in Colombia. A friend recently told me about a new Vonqage service ($55/month) that allows unlimited calls to landlines and cellphones in Colombia. As was said earlier, you can also use an app or register a cellphone as an extension for $9.99/mo and call anywhere in Colombia from your cell.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresColombia - medical exams for interview

Hello Everyone!!

I need some advice, my wife Has her interview for 4/13 in bogota and we need to get her medical exams before the interview. Does anyone know how long it takes to get both exams done? Any tips on getting this done as close as to the interview date? We don't want to spend too much time in bogota due to expenses.

Thank you for any tips!!

In our case, my fiancee had her labs done a Monday morning and the physical done later that afternoon. We left Tuesday free for last minute things and had our interview on Wednesday. From what I have read, this is the best approach to take unless your beneficiary lives relatively close to Bogota; in which case, it could be done at just about any time.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresPetitioner's migratory Movement Letter.
Dianita, I understand your concern. I have also read of the Consular Officer asking for a Migratory Certificate from the Petitioner. In that case, the K-1 visa was approved but the additional requirement of the Migratory Certificate caused a substantial delay. One very knowledgeable poster here on VJ has said that the instances when this is requested are so few that it doesn't warrant the additional hassle and expense of getting the certificate. I understand and appreciate this viewpoint, but I would prefer to have it and it not being needed than to not have it and it is requested. My interview is on a Wednesday and I plan to be in Bogota to request it the Friday before.
