K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsOur journey is almost over!

thank you for the quick response! i think i had everything pretty organized, now you are macking me doubt, hahaha. We've known each other for over 4 years now, so we have plenty of trips and pics and everything too. But it's going to be a month on jan 6th from when i delivered the packet at the embassy. We are freakin out, nobody has contacted us at all. Both me and him sent emails and still nothing. How did they contacted you, by hpone or email?
he tryed to call the ambassy too, they wouldn-t tell him anything either. does enybody know another way we can contact the embassy?? i know if he were here he could just walk in and ask.
thanks again!

You can call the Department of State at 202 663-1225. Do not use the automated system as it will not have information on K-1 visas. Ask the visa specialist if the embassy has assigned an interview date yet.

Good luck.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Closed??

I have gone to the Bangkok Embassy website and from what I can see the packet 3 info is not available unless you register and pay a fee to access it online as of June 2010. So at this point I am not real sure what will be required for Packet 3 and I really don't want to wait on the Embassy to send it out. Any help in this area would be of great help....Thank You Again

You might want to try again. I was able to access both the Packet 3 and Packet 4 files on the embassy website.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Closed??

Thank you very much......this is where i could use all the help we can get. Ihe Fiance had to move this week
so thats anoth step we need to do. Do you know if we just email the consulate direct or can she call and give them
her need address? She is planing on going to BKK the 5th or 6th for her medical and police report. And that was our
plan to just send in packet 3 right away and hope for a Feb. interview. Seems different stoy's on what should be sent with
packet 3 so trying to sort that part out yet. Would kind make up for the holiday's if she could be here for Valentines day :)

If it's difficult to get through to your consulate, you can get the date received by the embassy from DOS. If your consulate allows you to email the initial forms for the Packet 3, download them from the embassy website and send them in as soon as DOS tells you that the embassy has received your petition from NVC.

The petition packet is usually received within 3 days from the date that NVC sends it out. Sometimes it takes the embassy a few more days to enter it into their system. When they enter it into their system, DOS will have that information.

Thank you i did call and got mt date recieved and sent also case # Yeahhhhhhhhh
Thank you soooooo much for PH number and info

My pleasure. Someone else here gave me the info an it sure helped me from going insane. You can also ask for your interview date after you have sent in your package 3. For me this info was worth $200 as that is what I paid for my flight having advance notice. It also makes it easier to schedule the medical and maybe get a better hotel for a good price.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Closed??
You can call the Department of State at 202 663-1225. Do not use the automated system as it will not have information on K-1 visas. Ask the visa specialist for the case number and the date that it was received at NVC as well as the date the at it left NVC. If still feeling courageous, ask them whether it has been received at the embassy and then if the package has been sent to the beneficiary yet.

Goog luck.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports6months and still no NOA2 :(

Those of you who are approaching the 6-month period, are you all naturalized citizens? just curious.. I heard they look more thoroughly into naturalized petitioners.. I hope those are just rumors.

That's just a rumor. I'm a naturalized citizen and my petition was approved in October. I thought that they already had my information so that they didn't need to start from scratch when they did whatever background check that they did on me.

According to the email that you posted above, they are asking you to send in only those forms that they requested. Everything else, you'll have to hold onto until the interview. You can download the forms that you need from the DOS website; they might even be posted on the Kingston Embassy website. The DS-156 has to be done electronically and then printed out so that it will have the barcode on the form. I don't know if you can submit them electronically to Kingston but we can and I did to Bogota. Take everything else to the interview.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsSurvivor's Guilt
Jenifer, my petition was approved in 93 days but from day 40 or so on I had a pretty good camaraderie with a few others who were like me waiting for their approval. I would look forward to posts from one friend who would post in the very early morning. I would tease her about obsessing so much. We would speculate on whether this would be the week or not. I had another friend who I would wait for in the evening. And several others that I would comment on their posts whenever I saw one. After I got my approval; none of the others got theirs. All of a sudden, I felt so guilty that I could no longer tease and joke with them. I sent a few personal messages and still keep in contact with them. Luckily, for the most part, they now have their approvals but it's like when you graduate from grade school you go to a different school than your friend; the friendship is not maintained as it once was.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsSurvivor's Guilt

Thanks for the kind words from most. To JiaYou, I really do feel bad for those who have waited longer than I as I understand what they are going thru. I understand there is nothing to be done from my end but the processing order seems sad and unfair at times. Best wishes to all.

Jenifer, don't worry about it too much. I have been and still am in your situation. I know exactly how you feel but the reality is that neither you nor I did anything to advantage ourselves to the disadvantage of others. I am happy for me and my fiancee and I am also happy for those who I have gotten to know through the wait when they get theirs. And I'll be very happy for those who are still waiting when they get theirs.

This really scares me. I hope to be out of AP really soon so that we can get an early December interview. I sure do not want to deal with staff who are longing to be on holidays but have to put in the time because someone has to.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportsnoa2

hi guys.. do you think VSC/USCIS gonna process visa application even if you don't follow up your case? do you think they gonna send NOA2 even if you dont call the or email them.. ?

In direct answer to your question, the answer is yes. At some point in time they will either send you an approval, an RFE or a denial. Your petition application does not just go into a black hole never to be heard from again unless you call.

As others have said, the waiting for an update is what annoys most. Especially, since it has been said that it only takes an Immigration Officer about 15 minutes to review and approve a petition that is in order. If you are anxious, do call and email and do everything else that others are doing. At the very least, it will occupy your time; at most, it will get someone to look for the file to see if there is a problem. And who knows, the amount of time it takes to review for problems might be enough time to determine that the petition should be approved.

NOA2 rec'd 10/18/10. Took about 3 weeks for the petition to be acknowledged by the embassy as having been received. Package 3 sent in same day as acknowledgement; now in country awaiting interview on Wednesday.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNext Steps NOA2

You've been given some good links, so take the time to read them. NVC just assigns a case number and passes the K1 off to the consulate in about 3 days total. They don't put K1s in their automated system. The IR1/CR1 visa people who actually send their forms and payments to NVC will be in the system. Speak to a person. Call late at night.

If you had read Dodies link, it says this (in red even)

For the NVC:

K1's are not tracked through the AVR, EVER. They are processed like an immigrant visa, but they are NOT immigrant visas, so they fall into a completely different class of their own. Therefore you need an operator. To get there:

1-603-334-0700

Press 2 for Non-Haiti-Related issue (Please note that this will probably change after some time)
Press 1 for English
Press 5 for an operator

About the evidence. It was just a tip to point out that London is not Manila. People always say they will take it "just in case". Well I've actually been to the interview in London and read hundreds of reports from interviews for just shy of 3 years now. Nobody has EVER been ask to show evidence of their relationship. Keep it simple.

Work on getting your immunizations done at NHS now. That will help you at AOS time and save you money too.

If you can't get through to NVC, call the Department of State (NVC is a part of the Department of State); they will have the same info that NVC has and they are a whole lot easier to get through to. Call 202 663-1225. When the message starts select 1 and then 0. This will direct you to a Visa Specialist. Ask them if your petition has been received by NVC yet and could they give you your case number. They will ask you for you EAC# and some identifying information and then they will be able to tell you what they have in the system.

I gave up on calling NVC because I could never get them. It always rang busy. I got all of my information from DOS. As soon as NVC enters your petition into their system, DOS has the information and can update you from there.
Robert de BondaMaleColombia2011-01-04 15:46:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNext Steps NOA2

Oh ok soory im mistaken, you have to wait until NVC can confirm that its been 'logged in' before I send the forms!!

OK Lucy, Calm down! NVC logs it in; does their thing (including assigning the LDN number) and then sends it on to the embassy. All this while, DOS can see what is happening. I only called DOS. They can give you all of the information that you need after you provide them with the EAC number from your NOA1 or NOA2.

When your case gets to the embassy in London, the embassy will log it in. DOS can see this as well. This is what is meant when they say "Received by embassy". It is at this point that you can then send in the DS-230 Part 1 and the other form.

Hope that this helps.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsMultiple/Subsequent RFEs Possible
I would imagine that if you sent in documents that raised a question that had not been previously considered you might get another RFE. I would think though that if they told you what they needed and you sent in less than what they asked for they would more likely deny than send out another RFE for the same information. Just my opinion.
Robert de BondaMaleColombia2011-01-21 13:14:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsVisa Approved

Congratulations and thank you for your detailed review!!

I have a couple of questions after reading your review:

  • You mentioned leaving the embassy to get photos (pictures). What pictures were you referring to? There were photos the embassy asked for? Were they passport photos or photos showing you and your fiancee and family?
  • With regards to divorce decree, you said they kept the "certified copy" but returned to you the "photocopy of the certified copy", right?
Thank you! :)

The fotos that I left for were the 100 or so that we had selected to support the proof of relationship. We went through all of the paper things that we wanted to submit the night before and forgot to put the fotos on the pile. Luckily they were not needed.

With regard to the divorce decree, I had submitted a copy of the decree that had been certified as true to the original by the ex-wife's lawyer. I read somewhere that they were expecting a certified copy (certified by the court or the County Clerk) so I readily spent the $5 that it cost to get one. Would have hated for this to hold things up and incur additional expense.

Are there still a lot of K1 July 2010(CSC) filers on here who have not been approved yet? We filed on July 19 and we havent gotten any news from USCIS until now. Starting to feel so worried....it's been almost 6 months now. :(

Did you at least get your NOA1? Was your check cashed? If not you should definitely be on the phone talking to an Immigration Officer and no to a Customer Service Rep.
Robert de BondaMaleColombia2011-01-15 10:33:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsJuly 2010 CSC Filers

See?! We have the same NOA2 date. A notification is only sent if they've updated your status online. Since they didn't do that for either of us, it wouldn't have generated an update which is why we didn't get them.

My case arrived at the NVC yesterday, which means yours probably did as well!

Talk to an operator (even though you have to hold for 20 minutes), the automated system won't have your case on file.

You can get the same information from the Department of State at 202 663-1225. As soon as the automated message comes on dial "1" and then "0". You can ask a Visa Specialist whether your case has been sent to NVC yet. If it has, they can give you your new case number; the number that you will have to use with the Embassy. You also have to wait; but the wait seems to be shorter than at NVC.

After a couple of weeks of document gathering, I filed today.

OK, so in my haste to let the world know that I sent in my I-129F, I reported it on a thread for California Service Center filers rather than on a thread for Vermont Service Center filere; since I sent the petition to VSC.

My bad! I'm still happy, anxious and everything else.

Thank you, folks! I saw the flow-chart before. However, I am trying to figure out what to expect. I have received NOA2 and called NVC. NVC said that they have sent package to Moscow embassy on January 31st and that embassy should receive it by now. I called embassy and the embassy said that it takes a month to arrive and that NVC sends documents via regular mail while NVC states that they send documents via DHL. Nuts! Should I expect to be contacted (USC)? My fiancee? What are the next documents that I or she should receive? Flow chart does not specify. I am just trying to make sure that there is no delay in interview scheduling so I am trying to nail-down possible bottle-necks.

It's really hard for most of us to specifically answer your question as we all deal with different consulates. It would be best if you asked such a specific question in the Russia-Ukraine-Belarus forum. Should you need specific information regarding the status of your petition (i.e. whether received or when received), I have found that information available from the Department of State. Their number is 202 663-1225. Since you cannot access K-1 visa information from the automated menus, you will need to press "1" and then "0" to speak to a Visa Specialist.

Good Luck!!!

Are there any unapproved July Filers out there? I know Igor's List says there are but are there any wandering around this thread? Lol. All the recent approvals on Igor's List seem to be mid August and up. I feel like they skipped over the rest of July! >_< Just wanted to see if people aren't updating their timelines or what. :P

I wondered the same thing. Apparently there are a few; but there seems to be some duplicates and most seem to have abandoned VJ if not the whole process.

so maybe VCS was closed today as well with all the snow.

Try calling the Department of State (DOS). They have the same information that NVC has. Their number is 202 663-1225. I forget what the routine is to get out of the automated menu but you will have to speak to a Visa Specialist as the status of K-1 visas are not available through the automated menu. I'm kind of remembering "1" and then "0".

I've heard quite a few members here said that once the NOA2 is 'approved' things move relatively quicker. I don't get what that means. Is it quicker because it is psychological? Whereby a definite timeline exists and some activity is evident. Because I've started to be concerned that once the NOA2 kicks in, I might have another 3 month wait until the interview.

You should check in over in the regional forum that covers Japan. They will have information specific to Tokyo embassy. In my case, Bogota embassy seems to be a little backed up and then add the holidays so it has slowed down somewhat. Our NOA2 was received on Oct 18 and the embassy did not get the petition package until Nov 12. We sent in the forms but because they had a lighter caseload for December they gave us an interview for January 19. So for us its going to be about 3 months from NOA2 to interview. Without the intervening Christmas holidays, I'm sure we would have already had our interview.

At our embassy, it is said that if you get your Package 3 forms in before the 15th - 20th of the month, you will get an appointment for the following month. Remember though, this is specific to Bogota.

Good Luck!!!
