PhilippinesScheduling a appointment

it sounds like to me that maybe the NVC is going to process your IR1/CR1. did they say anything about closeing your K-3 visa cause NVC set the appointment dates for IR-1/CR-1 visas.??? have you paid any fees to the NVC yet??

Hello,

They did not say it was closed only that it is now completed and awaiting interview scheduling in Manila. I have paid the AOS fee of $88 and the IV fee of $404 but not the fee for the interview yet. I was thinking of paying that online today if it would help speed up our appointment date for the interview. Thank you.

PhilippinesScheduling a appointment
Hello everyone,

My wife's K-3 visa application being processed at the NVC was completed on July 5th and according to the information given to us by operator they are now awaiting scheduling for her interview in Manila. The operator I spoke to said there are no appointments remaining for July and to call back on July 15th and see if a appointment has been scheduled for August.

My question is can I go online and pay the fee's and schedule a appointment myself? I have registered and created a account with all my wife's info on the schedule a visa interview website. If I pay the fee's online will I be able to get a interview date sooner than if I waited for the NVC to do it? Thanks in advance............

PhilippinesSons birth certificate is wrong, listed as female

I think if there is something wrong with the gender, it will be more costly than just corrections on spelling of the name because the gender is not a clerical issue(they assume that whoever typed it did misspelled it), just like if there is wrong age for example. But all in all, I don' think it will cost 50k. I will give you a link so you can prepare for the steps you need to take to change it now, coz, last time I heard, change in gender may take a while since it will go to court, and they schedule cases based on 'raffle'.

Great link!!!!! Thanks a million.........

PhilippinesSons birth certificate is wrong, listed as female

50,000.. wow! You can have it corrected with just an affidavit which only cost 300-500. Is there someone from your family that knows someone who works at National Statistics Office?

HI,

I thought 50,000 was a little excessive too. They don't know anybody at the NSO and to complicate matters her son was born in Pandan, Antigue at home and they are now in Ormoc, Leyte. I will have her call the NSO and see if she can find out anything form them.

Thank you!!!

PhilippinesSons birth certificate is wrong, listed as female
Hello everybody,

As my wife prepares for the final stages of her visa journey (medical and interview remaining) we have began her eldest son's paperwork for his visa. He is currently in college and our plan was for him to finish his second year then come to the States, he just turned 18. We have discovered that his birth certificate is incorrect, his gender on the birth certificate is listed as being female. We spoke to a attorney yesterday about this matter and he said it could be fixed but it'd be 50,000+ php. I don't mind paying the attorney if this is the only way to get it corrected but wondering if anybody here has experienced anything similar and could give us some advice.

Thank you.

Yes the x-rays are for comparison purposes only and really were done for our piece of mind.

Philippinessputum test...Anyone get xrays prior to St lukes exam to avoid delays
Yes we got x-rays done last week prior to my wife's medical at St. Luke's next Monday. Very inexpensive insurance to make sure all is well before she goes all the way to Manila for the medical since the majority of Filipinos have been exposed to TB at one point or another. We also had the doctor sign the x-rays to and included his business card with name and contact info too.

PhilippinesCase Complete atlast
Congratulations...........

We too are awaiting scheduling for a appointment in Manila, our case was completed on July 5th. I called the NVC yesterday and instead of the usual "there are no available dates for August and please call back in the second week of next month" the man (really nice) said to call back every few days and check. Even though they do most of the scheduling in the second week of the month they also do it at other times too.

PhilippinesLocked Up Abroad
There are quite a few westerners in Filipino jails, money won't always get you out. A Brit by the name of Kevin Taylor is a good example of this. He and his Filipina wife ran a Visa and Travel Consultancy business in the Philippines and are accused of running a recruitment business instead by a disgruntles employee. They basically locked him and his wife up and threw away the key but in the process bled him and his family back in England dry of all their monies. They have released the wife realizing they could get no more money from her family so now are focusing solely on Kevin.

Get caught with drugs or get caught (or set up) with a underage girl and you are going to spend a very long time in jail.

When out on my motorcycle I always carry 200 peso next to my license, if I get pulled over this will get me out the ticket but if I were every to get in a accident, even if the other party is involved is at fault it would cost me big money. My neighbor (Canadian) there was hit by a motorcycle while driving his multicab, the motorcyclist was on the wrong side of the road, passing a bus, driving at night with no headlights and they said it was my neighbors fault. Their reasoning is if the wasn't in the Philippines the accident would not have happened, the police actually said that to him. He had to pay for the guys hospital bills, buy a new motorcycle and pay for his family's expenses until he could work again.

PhilippinesDo we need to wait for Manila #
My wife just had her medical done in Manila this week. She does not have a scheduled interview at the Embassy yet, only had her MNL number, scanned copy of the NOA2 and the online St. Luke's appointment letter. No problem at all they just said the medical is good for three months and make sure that your interview is in that time frame.

PhilippinesIR-1 visa appointment scheduled today
Just got a email from the NVC saying they have scheduled my wife a appointment at the U.S. Embassy in Manila for September 6th. I guess them saying that all the appointments are scheduled in the second week of the month is not correct. Good luck to everybody else here too who is waiting.

PhilippinesAugust Interview

What date did they close your case? I had seen people get early August already when their case was closed on the last day in June. I bet that most of the appointments were taken up by the K-1 since they can schedule themselves and we have to wait for NVC to do so for CR-1 visa.

They closed our case on July 5th..........................:star:

PhilippinesAdvance Medical in SLEC
HI,

Before my wife had a interview appointment I emailed St. Luke's and ask them if it was OK to get her medical done before her interview was scheduled, they responded with........

"Normally, appointment letter is presented to us during the medical examination. However it is your discretion to have the medical examination without the appointment letter, for as long as you know your case number and visa preference category.

For other information and requirements, kindly visit our website at <http://www.slec.ph/>...h/>www.slec.ph"

My wife went prior to her having a interview appointment and brought with her a valid passport, NOA2 with MNL number on it, filled out online registration form from St. Luke's website, IV bill and the email they responded back to me with. It was no problem and the only thing they said was it was valid for three months and to make sure that her interview is within three months or she'd have to re-do her medical.

Good luck................

Philippinesinterview stage in manila! what documents needed?
Hello,

The means the "O" means the document were received and accepted. "Y" means the required document was received (you may still need to bring supporting evidence) and "F" means the document is not necessary for your case.

Even though you already supplied the required documents that are marked "O" and the NVC received them and then forwarded to the Embassy for your interview I would suggest that you still bring a long certified copies of the items marked "O" (birth certificate, marriage certificate and NBI clearance) just in case they are needed.

Good luck on your interview!!!!!!!!

PhilippinesVisa delivery
Hello and good day to all!

My wife had her IR-1 interview yesterday and was approved, really happy about that but am concerned about one thing. She said after the interview she did not fill out any paperwork, they just told her and a few other people they were done and could go now. She said that before the interview she filled out a paper that had her address on it and they did ask her if this where she lived and if this was her delivery address but that's it. She did not pay a fee for 2Go or anything. Is this normal or something I should be worried about?

I heard/thought that after her being told she was approved she needed to fill out her 2Go delivery form and pay a fee for delivery. Is this correct? Thanks for any help in advance................

PhilippinesCFO sticker in Cebu
Hello,

My wife needs to go get her CFO sticker in Cebu on Thursday. She has already taken the required courses there, received her visa, has passport and has all required paperwork.

I looked at the CFO website looking to get a address as to where she needs to go in Cebu to get the sticker. The website only shows one address, the one where she took her
seminar. Anybody know if this is the same place that she picks up her sticker too?

PhilippinesXOOM money transfer
We have used Xoom on and off for two years now. I like it because I can deposit the money directly in to my wife's bank account and it's relatively cheap compared to Western Union.

I do not like the exchange rates Xoom gives you, if your sending a large some of money their low exchange rate makes a big difference and it's cheaper to use Western Union with a U.S. Dollar pay out it those situations.

Sometimes Xoom can take a little bit longer to actually get the money into her account, especially if you do the transfer near the weekend.

All in all I like Xoom and do not hesitate to recommend them.

PhilippinesMEdical using the MNL case #
I am in the same situation as you, we are approved (IR-1 Visa) and only waiting for the interview date. After asking here the same question I was told that as long as we have the MNL number my wife can go take her medical exam. I also emailed St. Luke's and asked them the same question, here is the response I received from St. Luke's.

"Normally, appointment letter is presented to us during the medical examination. However it is your discretion to have the medical examination without the appointment letter, for as long as you know your case number and visa preference category.

For other information and requirements, kindly visit our website at <http://www.slec.ph/>.../>www.slec.ph".

I am having my wife go on the 24th with only her MNL number and with her visa category. I hope this helps.

PhilippinesEmbassy interview immediately following St. Luke's
Yes, you can fly to Manila just a couple days prior to their visa interview and take the medical, chances are you will be fine. Say if your visa interview is on Thursday you can do the medical on Tuesday/Wednesday and IF there are no problems all is good.

This is what my wife and I did. .....

At the time she took her medical she did not have her visa appointment yet, only had the MNL number which is all St. Luke's requires besides the $214. I had heard lot's of stories of people having to stay there longer because St. Luke's saw something on their x-rays and required them to do the spit test, that can take three extra days and turn a two day thing into a five day nightmare. I did not want her to have to deal with that before her interview so I had her fly to Manila and do the medical separately.

She flew to Manila on Monday, took the medical on Tuesday and then went back on Wednesday morning to finish up and get her vaccinations and then flew back home later that day. It did cost more to do the medical and interview on separate trips but if there is a problem it is well worth any extra cost. Since we had plenty of time I found a good promo on PAL for 1,200 peso for tickets and booked a moderate room at the Casa Bocobo Hotel about a block away from St. Luke's for about 2,000 peso a night.

Good luck.......................

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresIs this going to be a problem? IRS 2010 filed single but married...
I did the same thing and I don't think it will be a issue. I did write a explanation letter as to why I did not claim her due to the fact she had no social security number and my wife will bring that with her for her interview.
