IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-130 Proof of Bona Fide Marriage??

'student' isn't an occupation.

Okay, I had a feeling that was the case, thank you. He's filled out a new one and sent it to me, so we'll wait on that one too and then send it all off. Again, thanks for all your help guys :) more than likely you'll see me around for more questions haha

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-130 Proof of Bona Fide Marriage??
Awesome, you guys have been SO much help! thank you so very very very much! :) I've got everything completely set up now, all I'm waiting for now is my Certified Marriage Certificate to get back (because I sent that in to change my name on my passport, got the passport back and now waiting for the certificate which should be here after the memorial day weekend, hopefully) and I've gotta get my mom to write the check for me then we're good to send it all off.

One thing we were wondering about g-325a form is, my husband filled that out with his occupation/job thing being "student" because he's technically a student until July when he's done and he didn't have a job when he filled it out and sent it to me but now he's been hired working as a waiter and we were wondering if he should re-fill out the form or if it matters?

Okay that's great to know thanks,

One thing is, if my parents write the check for the petition fee then should I explain why it isn't my name on the check?

Great, thanks

I know I've been asking loads of little questions but I was just wondering what counts as proof of legal name change? I have a receipt from the Social Security Administration for a new ssn card but it doesn't specify it was for a name change, do I just write that in the info in the cover letter or write a note on the receipt? thats the other thing, do I just write a note for what things are on those things or write it in the cover letter? should I number the pages or use tabs or what for the line-up?

I don't think so. We were worried that ours were only from friends and not family!

Haha! that's so funny, opposite worries

We just really want this to work out fine, we both miss each other so much, hard to be apart especially when it's pretty much in someone else's hands whether or not we can be together with all this. But I'm glad to know I'm not alone in this, thanks so much for all the help! :)

One thing I am still a little lost on is how to compile all of this, there's a little info on here but should I use folders, paper clips, staples? also, for the passport style photos is it okay if I put them in a small envelope so they don't get lost or does it even matter

Once again, thank you so much for being so helpful :)

It looks fine to me. Ours were much shorter but I think having one from your mum is good.

Great thanks, I've got this one for her, and I've got another one we're working on for my brother, it won't matter if these are from family will they? with us being in different places we don't have too many mutual friends that have seen us together that much.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-130 Proof of Bona Fide Marriage??
Thank you all SO much for the help.

We haven't actually had the wedding ceremony yet, just did the court house marriage thing. We were going to have the ceremony this summer but plans changed a bit, my Dad has a weird schedule for work and is gone for months at a time so we're gonna wait till my husband is over here then we'll have the actual ceremony so I can't include any of those pictures, you don't think this will be an issue, will it? I have a few pictures of him with my younger sisters when we were all hanging out, but they are under 18 so I'm guessing they're too young for affidavits? or is there an age limit?

Also, how am I supposed to pay the fee for the petition? just a check? also, can the check be from someone else or does it need to be me? my parents are loaning me the money for it until I get my paycheck from my job so I can pay them back, so I was wondering if a check from them would be alright or if they need to transfer the money to me and I can write a check myself.

Once again guys, thanks so much for the help! :)

Okay, so I found the Affidavit one, and filled one out for my Mom and one for my brother. I'm attaching the one for my mom with this, if someone could look it over and let me know if that's fine or if I should change anything that would be great. The thing I'm not sure about is the number at the top of the page and also to for the purpose of section.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-130 Proof of Bona Fide Marriage??
My Husband and I don't actually own anything together since he's over in England and I'm here in Alaska, so I suppose I'm gonna have to figure out the affidavit of proof of relationship from a few family members/friends, but can anyone tell me the requirements for those? what it looks like and if we need it notarized, I can't find anything about it on the USCIS website which is weird.

It only mentions it in the I-130 petition form instructions. On the page where you get the pdf for the form it has a list of required documentation but an affidavit from someone stating our relationship is genuine isn't one of them...really confused!

Also, can I just send in my regular Consular Report of Birth Abroad? or do I need to get it copied and certified or do I have to order a new one or something? confused on that one as well.

Thanks!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-130 supporting documents and what happens after it is approved?
Okay quick questions again, do I need to send in my original consular report of birth abroad (since I was born on a US airforce base in Japan) or can I just send in a photocopy of it? and same with the marriage certificate? will they send me these documents back? cause it sounds like we might need the again after the petition is accepted and we go on to the NVC.

Also, what is the process after it gets approved? how can we find out what documents we will need for that so we can be prepared for when that happens? I've been looking on the site but maybe it's on VJ somewhere I just thought I'd ask. We'd like to have everything ready as soon as possible so we don't have to go running around trying to make sure we have everything ready when the petition gets approved, which I realize could be a while anyway, but still. It's better to be prepared. Especially with things as important as this.

Oh also, can I send in just a copy of all the pages of my passport instead as proof of citizenship and do I need that notarized? if I need to get another consular report of birth abroad I can, I'm just making sure I don't send off originals if I don't have to.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresVWP while I-130 for IR-1/CR-1 is pending?

I've entered three times since I got married, twice after the I-130 was filed and had no problems. There is no law against visiting on the VWP while an I-130 is pending. Keep in mind that some CBP officers can be hesitant about letting him in from suspicion that he might try to adjust status once admitted. I never had to show anything at all, but it is advisable to have him bring some documents proving ties to the UK.

Whether the UK will allow you to visit is entirely up to the UK Border Agency. They might suspect the same, you visiting and then attempting to stay, although I don't know how they work exactly. It's my assumption that bringing your NOA1 with you as proof that he intends to move to the US might help out tremendously.

How long did you stay for? a few weeks? a month? just curious, its good to know that that will be a possibility if it takes a while, which it sounds like usually this process does take a while.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresVWP while I-130 for IR-1/CR-1 is pending?
Hey, so I'm applying for an I-130 for my british husband and I've been looking around a bit and it almost sounds like if the I-130 is pending he could come visit on the VWP for a bit then return to the UK and after it's approved apply for his visa and it would break up the waiting a bit, is this true? or has stuff changed, I think some of the things I was looking at were older posts, but does anyone know if this is true? also, does anyone know if there is any restrictions on me going to the UK on the VWP to visit him if the petition takes a while? or do I have to stay in the US for all of that?

We're trying to be patient because we know this whole thing takes a while, and we don't have much money for trips back and forth anyway but if there's a chance we could have him come here for a few weeks or something in a couple months when/if it's still pending then that would be EXTREMELY nice. I know the rest of you know how hard it is to be so far away from your other half so I don't need to explain this much.

Anyway, thanks :)

US Citizenship General DiscussionSame Day Interview & Oath at Anchorage Field Office?

Will the Anchorage Field Office of the USCIS do an N-400 interview and a naturalization (oath) ceremony on the same day?

We live in a remote part of Alaska and it is difficult and expensive for us to travel to Anchorage. In the past, the Anchorage Field Office has allowed walk-in biometrics as a courtesy to residents of rural (bush) Alaska. Thanks to their courtesy and efficiency, my wife has done walk-in biometrics twice which has saved us thousands of dollars in travel costs.

The USCIS website (see link) says that "You may be able to participate in a naturalization ceremony on the same day as your interview."  http://www.uscis.gov...tion-ceremonies

Has anybody had experience with same day interview and oath, particularly in Anchorage?

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionINKJET PRINTERS
I'm done with inkjet printers. They clog, they're slow, the ink is very expensive and smears if it gets wet. The only reason I can think of to use one is that they do print color photos very nicely. My advice: do yourself a favor and buy a laser.

PhilippinesGot our NOA2 today :)

<img src="http://www.visajourn...DIR#>/good.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="good.gif" /> I'm happy today I saw a surprise in my mailbox. Our NOA2 approval.

I was regularly watching the USCIS website but it never gave me a mobile text or email of our approval. When I logged in today it still only shows as "touched" 3/10. I guess they just forgot to update there.

Anyway, so happy to have our NOA2 hardcopy in hand today <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/kicking.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="kicking.gif" />

Now I just need to figure out how to track the NVC recieving and the NVC outgoing tracking dates.

I want to say that the timeline was pretty accurate for predicting our approval between March 11th to March 30th. Our approval was 3/10.

"Your I-129f was approved in 56 days from your NOA1 date."

Glad that step is behind us.. on to the NVC <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> I wish everyone the best that's still waiting for NOA2

Congratulations!

PhilippinesIs Bukidnon reasonably safe?

I lived in one of the barangays in Valencia, Bukidnon for 12 years before my family moved to Cebu City in 2001.

Which specific area in Bukidnon are you visiting? That province isn't made of mountains alone. :P

Well, you can create your own safety and enjoy the experience.

I'll be in Kadingilan.

PhilippinesIs Bukidnon reasonably safe?
Hi Everybody,

I'm going in May, first to Davao City then up into the mountains of central Mindanao, to Bukidnon to meet my fiance's family. Is it reasonably safe there? Davao City doesn't worry me, and I've been around Manila quite a bit, even rented an apartment in Tondo last summer, so I know what precautions to take as far as that goes. But up in the mountains of Mindanao? Should I be worried? I like to get off the tourist trail, and I'll be with locals. It looks really beautiful there.

Thanks for any advice.

PhilippinesMy boyfriend is coming to Manila

Hi there, I've browsed around this forum for a while before taking a deep breath and finally deciding to register. I think you guys are really friendly and helpful, so I've come for some help.

I met my boyfriend online and he is coming here to Manila next week. He is flying Continental all the way. Are there any special instructions or tips we should know? For example, I know for domestic flights, PAL charges a terminal fee of 200 PHP. Will NAIA charge my boyfriend for something similar? Would it be a good idea for me to send him local currency through Western Union?

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks in advance! :star: :star: :star:

There is no fee coming into NAIA, but he will need 750PHP cash for the fee when leaving Manila (the 200PHP fee is for domestic flights only). You could meet him at the greeting area right after he clears customs (you'll see lots of people with paper signs bearing the names of people they are meeting), which would be the closest you can get to the gate.

Terminal 1 also has a fairly decent meeting/waiting/pickup area outside (this is labeled "arrival extension area" on the map below) with parking, food vendors, seating, etc, which can be convenient; the pickup area has signs designating letters of the alphabet which I think are supposed to correspond to people's last names, so for example you could meet him at the "S" area if his last name were Smith. This is outside baggage claim, he would cross the street, then go right or left depending on if he wants to get closer to the beginning or the end of the alphabet, just look for the signs. I usually go to this area and get load for my cel phone so then I can text whomever I'm meeting up with, but even without a cel phone it should be OK as long as you know what he looks like (or else you could make one of those paper signs).

Here's the map: http://www.filipinot...s/map_naia1.php

Hope this helps!

PhilippinesTravel Tax
I have always been charged travel tax, included in the price of the ticket. The terminal fee only applies upon DEPARTURE from an airport in the Philippines. So:

US-PHL, travel tax but no terminal fee
PHL-US, travel tax and 750P terminal fee
PHL-PHL, small travel tax and 200P terminal fee
AKteacherMalePhilippines2010-04-12 21:15:00
PhilippinesTravel Tax
I flew to the Philippines from the US 4x in the past year, each time the travel tax was included with the airfare. The terminal fee is P750 for international flights, P200 for domestic (within PHL).

Best of luck to you! I hope to be at my fiancee's interview in Manila (or at least there at the embassy for moral support). Hopefully the NOA2 comes through with no RFE's, then the interview should happen this summer when I'm there. Anyway, let us know what happens. I'll be hoping for you!

PhilippinesChine airlines and first time immigrant discount
Hi Scott,

I've flown China Air ANC-MNL and back, twice during the past 6 months. Each time it's been fine. Clean planes, decent food, more legroom than either Cathay or most US carriers. I do prefer Philippine Airlines (better food, slightly more legroom), but spending hours less on the plane (vs flying down through the west coast) make this by far the best choice, in my own humble opinion.

United KingdomImmigration to UK?

You know that if your husband comes on a IR1/CR1 visa, he'll be able to work immediately as he arrives in the US, right? Just asking.

Yes, I realize that, but in order to get one of those I need to sponsor him, correct? and in order to do that, I need to be making a certain amount of money and also I need to be 21. I'm just about 20, so that won't work. Not for a while anyway...we're trying to figure out the quickest way for us to be together.

Thank you, everyone for your replies. Doing more research. Any more input would be most appreciated! cheers

United KingdomImmigration to UK?
I posted a while ago and have been still looking into things a lot, thinking maybe trying to see if I can immigrate to the UK easier than him to the US because he'd be able to work. Here's the run-down: My husband is a British citizen and I am an American citizen. He is planning on joining the RAF police and we're trying to work out how to get me immigrated over to the UK. Will him being in the RAF help us out any? I know it'll give us security as far as him having a job and housing but will it help things? I've been doing odd jobs mostly for farmers around my area in Alaska so I haven't had a solid employment to prove much in the way of finance, and he's been a student at Uni so I'm really not sure how to work the whole proving of funds thing...I could really use some advice from someone who understands all this better.

Thanks!

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresMany K3 visa questions...
Hi there,
I'm extremely new to all of this and am feeling a bit bogged down with all the legal speech, but I'm working hard to understand all of this because I love my husband and I want to figure out how to be with him. So, anyway. I have a few questions but I should probably do a bit of background so y'all know more about the situation.

Alex and I met on facebook about 5months ago, we had a few friends in common and wound up talking on Skype A LOT. As crazy as it sounds (but I'm sure there's a few of you on here that can understand through semi-similar stories) we fell in love. We decided we wanted to get married and started looking into everything. He came for a 3-week visit (just left yesterday actually :(] and we processed the marriage paperwork so now we are married. I need to go and get the certified certificate before I can start on anything else, but he's back in Wales now finishing up at Uni.

The "plan" is for me to go stay with him until he's done with Uni and then come back here in about May or so, have the actual wedding ceremony because that's important to both of us, and then live here in Alaska. He would like to join the US Coast Guard but as far as I can tell he needs a green card first.

So, my questions are:

1. Should we apply for a K3 visa, then apply for a green card/citizenship?? or just go for a green card?

2. How long will it take?

3. Can he work in the US on a K3 visa?

4. On some of the applications we have to provide proof of income because they don't want him to come to the US and be on welfare and all that which is fair enough. He doesn't have a job as of yet, because he hadn't needed one while he was going through Uni, but he is planning on getting one in the evenings so an after-class job pretty much, would that work fine on one of those applications? neither of us have careers yet, we're both 'old fashioned' and want to work it where he works and I can be a stay-at-home-wife and eventually mother. But, I'm going to be looking for a job soon so we can get some more money saved up as well as hopefully help with the paperwork.

I think that's all...at least for now.

Thanks so much!

-Rebecca
