IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresjoint sponsor
Thank you very much for your answers. Infact I had interview already but the consular told me that I needed a joint sponsor. We thought that our I 864 was perfect because my husband current annual household income is above poverty guideline. I am still confused because it says (on 24 page 4 of I 864 Form) that the current annual household income will be compared to Poverty guideline, then why I still need a joint sponsor. Anyway it might be our misunderstanding.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresRe-submit I -864??
I had interview, the consular officer told me to get a joint sponsor. Until now we haven't got one yet. Actually , I did e mail to the embassy once (after that they never reply me nomore)and they even told me that my husband can re submit a new I 864 with a new tax return that show the petitioner’s sufficient income according to the Poverty Guideline. I don't want to wait that long.I have few questions to ask you guys
1. Do you think that my husband can re submit a new I -864 with the value of his assets to the embassy instead of using a joint sponsor or new tax return?
2. If I get a joint sponsor, will his/her obligations end after I removed my condition ?
Please advise. Thank you very much.

Thanks Fedup but let me ask you last question about this. As my husband is USC so the value of his asset is reduced to 3 times. What about mine, mine is reduced too or must be 5 times? Thank you very much smile.gif

I don't think that would be allowed, unless you transfer your money from your account to your husband's account. Petitioner is the one who is the main sponsor and he can take help of any joint sponsor who needs to have a United states domicile.

A few countries do allow the immigrant to be the sponsor but I doubt Thailand does that.

Are you the only beneficiary or you have any child/ren too?

Hi Silent Thank you for your reply. No I don't have any children.Infact I e mailed the Embassy and they told me that my husband can submit financial documents that demonstrate that his finances are three times the amount of poverty guidelines such as stocks and bonds, bank accounts with savings . I am not sure if they are gonna accept my asset or not in Bangkok but I saw in theI 864 form that intending immigrant can add the value of his/her asset.I's like to try. I just hope that they will.

Thank you very much for your reply. My husband is going to use his asset and the value of his asset is enough to meet requirements but I am just afraid that the support documents of his asset might be not perfect and if it's like that . the consular can use mine. I put mine just in case.

Oh and I have another question. Must I need the bank statements covering the last 12 months?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedurescurrency exchange
I haven't been to the bank to get bank statement yet but my husband needs to put the balance of the sponsored immigrant's savings and checking accounts into the form. I am wondering if I need to convert it into $. Can I do it myself or I need to wait for the statement from the bank? Please give me some advice. Thank you.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresquestion about DS-230
QUOTE (salamat @ Jul 5 2008, 05:31 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
on thursday i recieved a letter from the NVC asking me to mail the D-230 to this adress Att Dr national visa center 32 rochester avenue portsmouth,NH 03801-2901
today i recieved another one asking me the same thing except that adress has a little change instead of Attn .DR it has ATTN CMR
what's the difference? between the two
i hope i haven't make a mistake by sending it to the first adress.
thank you

If you received the one with CMR ..send that one back along with the IV package, but ours , we sent the one with DR( we changed DR to CMR with black ink) back with the IV package because that time we hadn't received the one with CMR yet.
