Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionRequest for more evidence - what else can we send them?
Merp, we had the same thing happen recently with an RFE. and we had a lot of evidence too.
So all we did was send in copies of exactly what we sent prior, chucked in a few Xmas cards from Australia, updated and current copies of our bank account statements and a current electric bill in both names. 7 days later got the 10 year GC in the mail, no updates showed on their website for it.
I personally think they had lost some of our info, so just needed it again.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Checking in at NVC
Hello everyone. My question today is, when checking case status at NVC, they ask for NVC case number or CIS receipt number. We are filing for K1, so is this our LIN number? If not where do we find a case number?
Thanks for your help.

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionaffidavit of support
We are in the final stages of out K1 visa, have sent DS230 back to consulate along with the checklist, and are awaiting packet 4 and an interview date. My question is, my US fiancee is above the poverty guideline but as we have had many financial committments this year, she currently has no savings in her bank account. She is a full time student and also working full time, and her wages are enough to keep her above the poverty guidelines for this fiscal year, so am I worrying unnecessarily about her current lack of savings in the bank?
Thanks for any advice.

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionaffidavit of support
Love to hear some opinions on this.
I have submitted the DS230 and checklist to the embassy and now awaiting the interview. I have stated that I dont have a job to go to upon arriving in the US, (to be determined upon arrival), but have since received a job offer. If I can get the details in writing, would it be worth taking it to the interview. personally I dont see it doing any harm, do you?

Do we need to take the x-rays?

Nope. Just have them in your luggage when you fly out. At my medical they wrote this on the front of my x-ray "Take to the US, not to interview"

thanks again, see you on monday

What time is your interview? I have an interview Sydney on Monday 5th June ....8am :D

A photo copy should be behind the corresponding original. They will sight the original and take the photo copy.

Andy.

Im excited/nervous as we are nearly at the end. My last question, (probably), before the interview is do I hand over the completed package of original documents, and a completed package of photocopies separately? I have seen one member state they put original/photocopy/original/photocopy etc.
Which is correct?
Many thanks

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussionfingerprinting
Sorry if this has already been discussed. My questions is, do I have to provide fingerprint cards with my I-751 application paperwork, or is this round of fingerprinting the biometrics which is done after I submit the paperwork?
thanks for your help.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-134
Hi, my Us fiance is working casual/PT in a restaurant while putting herself through college. Her hours vary, thus does her wage. And of course she makes the majority of her money from tips. She makes reasonable money in the restaurant
She has just relocated to go to college, and in doing so has little savings i the bank. Would it be advisable she use a co-sponsor?
 Gotta love the red tape.
Thanks

I want to make sure of some details.
According to timelines, my K1 should be approved around may/june, and i will enter the US directly. My fiance and must be in japan early july, but this is before we plan on getting married. Should i be applying for advanced parole when i arrive in the us, so i can then leave again, or have i got this all wrong?
many thanks

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat do you do to keep from losing your mind ?
hi there, here's one for you if you have a hi-speed internet connection at each end. go to www.skype.com and download the free skype software. so long as you have inbuilt speakers and headphones, or you buy a cheap plug in set, you can talk via your computers for free.
my fiance and i had been spending plenty of $$$ on phone calls but this way we can talk for however long we like, and not worry about it. if you want to go a step further you could also get a webcam. i know not everyone can access this technology but if you have it, it is so very worthwhile.
good luck

Well Nebraska must be on the move with NOA2's at last. While their processing time remains at December 21 2005, we have just received our NOA2 after 67 days. I have noticed a few other NOA2's from Nebraska recently too. Good luck to all others still waiting.

G'day Aussies. We have received our NOA2 and expect to be hearing from the embassy in the next couple of weeks. My question is, does the Sydney consulate require the I-134 or I-864?
Thanks for your help, and for those not this far yet, hang in there.
Best wishes

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresInterview successful in Sydney
Well I want to say a big thankyou to everyone on VJ, and a very big thankyou to Aussiewench, (Lorelle), for all your valuable input and information which has culminated in me getting my K1 visa in Sydney today. I was fortunate enough to meet Lorelle herself, and (hope you don't mind Lorelle), she was also successful getting her visa today.
Of course the process is not over and I will be using the VJ site for a while longer yet. However if I can be of any assistance to others Ill be glad to help.
Good luck to all of you still waiting to get this far. Its long and sometimes arduous but of course worth all the hassle.
Many thanks

And since I have studied and worked in the States for 7 years, I will need a clearence from FBI and that takes a while.

I studied in the US for four years..... will I need to get FBI clearance and a police check from the US? I thought it was only from countries OTHER than the US that you had lived in for over 6 months that you needed police checks from.... am I wrong??

Sorry, cant help you there. Mine is very straight forward as i have only ever lived in one place.

Might be worth looking around to see if there is guidance anywhere or starting your own thread to see if you can get any help from members more experienced in those areas.

Becky....

You could look into getting them now, but some country's put a 6 month limit on them. You'd need to find out the specifics of applying in pakistan. I know in England our certs are good for 12 months for the purposes of a visa, but like i said....check your own embassy out to see what the rules are.

It's all good... found out that US police checks are not needed... guess they do all that in security checks!
Thanks though and good luck

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCo-Sponsor accepted by Sydney consulate?
QUOTE (mingus_drake @ Feb 19 2009, 07:39 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
i've read that some consulates don't accept co-sponsors, wanted to make sure sure that sydney australia does? i'm worried, by fiance is a student and will graduate in may then come down here until the visa comes through, he isn't working and won't be until we head back to the usa. his mum's co-sponsoring and fulfills all the criteria but i'm still worried!

Hey man... I'm in the same boat.
I was looking through the Syd Consulate websites, and on their FAQ page there is a question about joint sponsors for the affidavit.

Q.I need a joint sponsor. What are a joint sponsor’s responsibilities?

A.The joint sponsor’s responsibilities are the same as that of a petitioning relative. The affidavit of support is a legally binding agreement to provide financial support to the person(s) immigrating to the U.S.

Thus I assume that they accept co-sponsors.

Hope this makes you feel a little more confident.
Good Luck with your journey!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionTwo Biometric Appointments?
i don't post here much but i came to the forums to ask the same thing today.

i received two biometrics appointments for dates one day apart (5/30 and 5/31 - saturday?). they arrived at my house about a week apart. i am wondering whether it would be better to send them both back and reschedule just to be safe. otherwise i will just go to the first one and hope that they do whatever it is they do to cancel the second one correctly but if they don't it could get nasty.

interested to hear if this has happened to other people..
