I called the mis-information line yesterday to make sure my address was correct because when I went for my biometrics they were missing the last two numbers of my PMB. (but they know me at my ups post office so did not lose my mail) anyway- the customer service rep had to transfer me to a supervisor and he corrected it but when I asked how long it might take he just said 6 months to a year. (I was kinda hoping to get a better response like maybe you just got approved o something. oh WEll!.

When they update your information like that does it delay anything? blush.gif I hope not becuase I would hate to have screwed myself up by calling to correct my info.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionProcedure for permission for child to leave Colombia
QUOTE (TonyS @ Mar 24 2009, 02:34 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Yes my stepdaughter's father is alive and well. We just need a signed and notarized statement from him. I think it must be within 30 days of departure. It was not a easy decision for him. I have a Colombian VOIP plan so he calls everyday when she is here. I feel it is important for her to know Barranquilla and all her family so the plan is for her to visit Colombia very year. Each time she will need permission. I know this may cause issues in the future. Now if the father is where about unknown the the procedure is different. I believe the mother will have to go to the DAS and they will tell her what needs to be done. My understanding is that it involves placing a ad in the local newspaper. I will ask my wife if she could get more information on this subject if this is the case. My stepmother works for DAS in Barranquilla.

Thanks for the info but father is alive and well just jealous and immature (living with his own family but beinf a hard head)

Pretty sure it has to be Bogota. At least that is how I have read it. Like I stated we had to send to a family member to
get it stamped. They can get this done though when they go for the interview, just get the letter prepared ASAP.

Thanks again, will do!

You can also ask this question in the Colombian thread to see what other members say about it. There's also one in Spanish in the Latin American forum where your fiancé can ask the question in Spanish.

Diana

Thanks, if it not too much trouble can you send me the link please and I'll forwarded to her. Thanks

She will need to go to a notaría with the father and get his permission in writing and notarized. Make sure the document is very recent, within a few weeks of traveling or the DAS will give her a hard time accepting it and may not allow her to let the child leave the country. Since the child is Colombian, she will have to do this every time they leave the country.

Diana

Thanks!

Does it need to be taken to Bogota to be stamped?

QUOTE (NArocks @ Mar 20 2009, 09:42 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hey Diana you beat me to it. Yes this letter has to be notorized and as far as I know it can only be done in Bogota. See this link here http://www.consulado...rmisosmenor.htm for info from the Colombian website here in the US. When my step kids left there mom happened to be here in the US. We did the letter and then it had to be stamped only in Bogota which thank goodness they were already going. When the 16 year went back we had to send the letter to a family member in Bogota to get it stamped ( for his dads signature ) so he could leave again and come back to the US.

Thanks, I relay the information and she could follow up and hopefully it could be done in Barranquilla.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionProcedure for permission for child to leave Colombia
Greetings!

With visa appointment date just around the corner, I have just one more hurdle to overcome. My fiance is having the usual bad luck with a jealous father. What is the procedure for leaving with a child out of Colombia, once she finally get consent? And how long in advance does she need the required paper prior to actually leaving at the airport. Would appreciate some guidance. Thanks

For those who are close to interview dates, get your vaccine shots early. My fiance just recently took her exam and was told she needed to get two shot for $400.000 (pesos), luckily she did them already prior to leaving but just did not record it as of yet for $50.000 pesos, quite a difference! Save yourselfs some money instead of being rip off, there's enough things to try not to worry about.

What vaccines were needed ?
I have a good idea but you just did it. Did she get her shots in Bogota?
Thats where my girl is from .. I plan on her getting some before medical exam as well.
Carl

I'm not sure but I'll asked. She has her interview today...awaiting on the answer. She got het shot in Barranquilla. Based on your shot history, you can tell what you need, just make sure you get prior to the exam or you'll get ripped off.

She text me earlier but I did not get it and I could get hold of her because she was on a 16 hour ride bus back home. When she finally picked up, she told me that happily told me her visa was approved and then we were cut off...cool...Thanks for all the help, much appreciated and GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE FUTURE VISA INTERVIEWERS...stick with it, love wins, love always win! star_smile.gif wow.gif

Translation compliments of GOOGLE translate
Gracias for the attempt, but the precise reason that I asked for someone to translate it is because the Internet translation services turn Spanish-to-English into gibberish. Let's try again and hope that a person will provide an accurate translation.

Here's the translation in English:

I arrived at my appointment at 6:30 AM and there were a lot of people in the lines. I was third in my line and was confident that I was in the right place. After 10 minutes, they called out the cases that were for each line; The day was very cloudy and
so they asked us to get organized quickly before the rain started to fall...At 6:40 AM I was in the embassy in Area 40...Afterwards a woman started to hand out folders to use for organizing documents; In my case,I had to wait on 20 people who were behind me because I didn't have the paper with the invitation and they had to verify...They gave me two folders, one for me and one for my son, with directions for organizing all of the documents and told me not to worry about the wait for the interview with the consul...The order of the papers was Forma DS230, DS156, DS 156K, birth certificate, baptism certificate, green book (DAS), letter for departure and entrance in the country, Form 134, results of the medical exam, tow fotos, and proofs of the relations with the photos, letters...all together there were 6 photos, one for the lab, one for the doctor, one fastened to each form 156, two that I gave that were marked on the back...At 8 AM they called me to the window 31, and the woman behind said good morning, are you here by yourself? I tried to give her an explanation as to why I was by myself, but she interrupted and said to just say yes or no...She wrote something in the computer, then she gave me the form 230, the proofs of relation, and she told me to have them at hand when I would have to give them to the consul, and asked my name and that of my son, our birthdates, name of my fiancee, tlephone...She just asked questions to verify information...She asked me to sign Form 156K and then had me stand by Window two...all of the people who entered the embassy at the same time as me were waiting at this window and after 10 minutes they took my finger prints and though they were calling people at the other windows they didn't call anyone from our group yet at our window...After a little while they called a woman to window three and said good day, how are you and at the same time they called my name for window 6. I got up and walked to the window as calm and self assured as I could be...there was a smiling woman behind the window, who greeted me and asked me to sign Form 156 and asked how I had met my fiancee and if he was born in the US...how many times I had gone to see20him...in what language did we communicate...after listening to my answers, she told me that everything in the file was in order and that she was approving the Visa for me and my son, with a big smile on her face...this was a very emotional moment for me and all I could say was thank you very much and have a lovely day, to which she responded that she wished me the same...The wait at the embassy causes a lot of stress and it was very cold, but the important thing is to stay calm, to have all of the papers in order, and to be very sure about what you are saying.

Good Luck on your journey!

so they asked us to get organized quickly before the rain started to fall...At 6:40 AM I was in the embassy in Area 40...Afterwards a woman started to hand out folders to use for organizing documents; In my case,I had to wait on 20 people who were behind me because I didn't have the paper with the invitation and they had to verify...They gave me two folders, one for me and one for my son, with directions for organizing all of the documents and told me not to worry about the wait for the interview with the consul...The order of the papers was Forma DS230, DS156, DS 156K, birth certificate, baptism certificate, green book (DAS), letter for departure and entrance in the country, Form 134, results of the medical exam, tow fotos, and proofs of the relations with the photos, letters...all together there were 6 photos, one for the lab, one for the doctor, one fastened to each form 156, two that I gave that were marked on the back...At 8 AM they called me to the window 31, and the woman behind said good morning, are you here by yourself?

Europe & Eurasia (except the UK and Russia)ROMANIAN MEDICAL
Well I am going through my medical soon. I already checked with my family doctor about required vaccination. Well HPV is one of them and pretty pointless as my doctor told me! You'll get 3 shots within 8 month and a shot is about 159 Euro. Well I'll call the doctor where I'll have my medical to find out how this is continuing. I mean first of all I prolly won't even be here for the 2 shot and I'll have him making me a copy of the medical so I don't need to have another medical for AOS!

Anyways this is very expensive and for Women over 18 very pointless. My doctor said u need to obtain the time requirement from 1 first shot till 2 shot till 3 shot very carfully otherwise the whole thing would not protect you.

Well I'll find out about it more on Monday when I'll get in touch with my medical doctor.

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaI129 and divorce
Here is a rundown of the situation. My fiancee is married. He has been separated from his wife for over 13 years and never got a divorce. Anyway after meeting me and developing a relationship he decided to file for divorce which we are waiting to become final. I am wondering how long after obtaining the final decree should we wait before filing the I129F. I don't want to get denied due to bonafied relationship or fraud. Mostly I'm concerned with the time overlap of our relationship and the divorce. Should I include notorized statements from people stating that he and his wife have not lived in the same house for 13 years and that the wife soon to be ex wife has a baby and live in boyfriend? Really need some advice on how to proceed given present circumstances.

 ! step closer to seeing our Husbands...

This sucks. I just sent in my I-864 and IRS transcripts. Waiting on my DS-230 form. Dont have the police record for my husband so I guess it would be smart to get it.

My question is do we send the original or a copy of the police certificate. If we send these in will he need to take it to the interview also. :help:

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaHow long does it take to get a police report?
I've read that the police report is good for 3 months. Should it be applied for just prior to getting the NOA2 or afterwards? Anyone knows how long does it take to get one in Colombia and what type of paper work is needed or do you just walk in the ploice station and submit the request yourself? Much appreciated!

DAS stands for Departamento Administrativo de Seguridad, which is Colombia's national security agency and they take care of both, the police certificate(Certificado Judicial) and the Migratory Movement letter (Carta Migratoria). Your fiancé can call her local DAS office to get more info on how to get both documents. She will need the Carta Migratoria because the embassy needs to see all her entries and exits from Colombia even if it's blank. When she files to get the Carta Migratoria, she has 5 days to pick it up in Bogotá, so she can pick it up the same week she has her interview at the embassy. It will be sealed and she cannot open it, only the embassy is allowed to do so.

Also, the Certificado Judicial does not need to be apostilled, only people going to Spain need that extra seal.

You can both go to http://www.das.gov.co/ to get more information. Click on the Servicios tab and then on Certificado Judicial to get more information.

Diana

Much appreciated!

You will also need the Migratory Movement letter (Carta Migratoria) from the DAS. I believe you can no longer get it in any other city outside of Bogotá. You can still file for one and then pick it up in Bogotá though. Make sure you also have this as this is one of the extra documents the embassy will require you to bring with you the day of the interview.

Diana

Hello Diana,

Thanks for the reply. I'm a cherry when it come to this, so I have a few questions? What's the DAS? Is the Migratory letter relate to taking kids out of the country? I assume you file the Carta Migratoria as you stated and can pick it up in Bogota but how long is it put on hold for you? Do you just walk into a police station and iniate the police report? I plan on going to Colombia in January (to explain the process prior to receive the noa2) and I'd like to move things in the right direction as less painfully as possible. Much appreciation!
