I haven't been able to track mine either, but my interviewer said they were mailing them that day or today at the latest.

I think we all had the same interviewer... he said that to us too. yes.gif

Congrats Kristin! That's wonderful news! Small world it is. I was suprised too to see the interviewer in regular clothes, but like Krikit said, it is just a normal office! Then once you get through the POE, you won't be able to relax until TOGUY gets his Green Card laughing.gif

Thanks Jill! Maybe I'll relax when the conditions are removed... or he becomes a citizen... guess it will be a loooong 12 years... laughing.gif

I guess it is just a normal office... but it sure is an imposing building down there in downtown Montreal.

12 years?! Wow, you guys must move slow! laughing.gif

Congrats on the approval!! Doesn't it feel great? Where are you guys crossing? We used the Peace Bridge and everything went great! good.gif

Thanks!!
laughing.gif However long the process takes to citizenship... Isn't it 10 years after removal of conditions? wacko.gif

We are crossing at Peace Bridge as well. I have no idea what time we are leaving Toronto...

I'll write my review when I get back to Ontario, OMG I have a lot to say about the mean lady that prolly was gone for an hour eating babies.. since she ALREADY had a coffee. My interviewer was in a suit and tie, so maybe they just have a really lax dress code. I spent a lot of the afternoon trecking around with my dad and I also went to see the Under the Sea IMAX movie, it was in French but still worth it! But srsly I feel pity to everyone else who had the document check lady that I had. She was most positively the meanest person I encountered along the process. My favourite was when she told me to come back with my reciept, sit down facing her. look straight ahead , don't talk to anyone and don't approach the window until she calls me back to the window! Anyways the interviewer that I had was super nice and almost made up for the nasty lady, he even laughed at my slippery ####### story. And he told me that they will most likely mail everything tonite, or tmrwm biggrin.gif

Did you have the lady in the middle? That does sound NASTY! Congrats on your approval, sorry I was so nervous about the interview, I could barely talk + Fiona was keeping me busy smile.gif Have a safe trip back to ON!

Heres a review! APPPPROOOOOOVVVVEEDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (TorontoGuy was approved, I'm the USC wink.gif )

We were first to the consulate, at 645 AM - someone (that'd be me) thought it was 7 that they opened the doors. We stood there for a few minutes before Happy Cloud & her fiance arrived - we all smiled, knowing who the other was smile.gif Fiona was tired, and was curled up in the corner. A couple more people arrived - I think it must have been MuffinTop & AmberL, but am not sure. We were let in the door, checked through screening - everyone was so polite and friendly! They gave TorontoGuy the letter A & a checklist of things to prepare. We went down the stairs to the elevator, and waited. The next few people came in behind us, and eventually the elevator came. We all got in - and faced the right way wink.gif As the elevator went up, the guard checked everyone's paper. We got to the 19th floor, got out and sat down in the waiting area. Soon we were called back to window 11, where a nice older woman went through all the forms and documents they needed, and sent TG to go pay. By this time, there was already a line at the cashier. He paid, and went back to window 11, where she took the receipt and sent us back to the lobby. We waited and waited. By this time it was after 8. The woman at window 11 called us back a final time to double check everything (I'm not sure why, I was trying to keep Fiona from melting down by this point - a 4 y/o who had to get up extra early and walk 1/2 a mile, now having to "behave" in a gov't building… she did pretty good all things considered . The woman told us then to have a seat, and that he would be called to booth 7 or 8 for the interviewer. I was so nervous, I was a wreck! I've been the calm one this whole time!! A few more minutes went by - seemed like a lifetime, and by now it was 915, and they finally called TG back to booth 7. The interviewer was sooooooo nice! They don't even wear uniforms! All this time, I imagined people looking the CBP folks - police-style uniforms, batons, guns, badges… definitely wasn't expecting a nice guy in a suit! Not only was he nice - but, synchronicity would have it that he was from a town very close to where I live, and where we will be living - we knew some of the same people! What the hell?? What are the chances?!? At that point, we both relaxed. We talked about the area a bit, and he asked where in Asheville I live, etc. Then he asked TG a few questions - when did you meet and how did your relationship progress? (answered satisfactorily). Have you ever had any difficulty crossing the boarder or with immigration? (no, just the standard stuff). Have you ever been arrested anywhere in the world for any reason (nope). Okay, everything looks great, I'm approving this. We'll send the visa out today or tomorrow. He wrote OK or approved on the folder. And then I said, well, perhaps we'll see you around home (soo weird! Really, the interviewer is from Asheville, NC?). We thanked him and left. We gave the thumbs up to the VJ-ers in the lobby, and left. A giant kiss on the steps of the consulate, when we left.
We are so happy and grateful… I don't think I will fully relax until visa in hand.. Of course then, I will say that I won't relax until POE! biggrin.gif We are leaving Montreal on Friday, and may get to Toronto to find a visa waiting for us! smile.gif and then, Wed we pack it up and leave Toronto…. The saga (journey) continues…

We had a nice lunch with Happycloud & her fiance. smile.gif - I'm sorry the other two couldn't join us though!

THANK YOU VJ for all your advice, input, and good wishes. This forum has helped us so much!
Cheers :-)

Hello to the July-8th-interviewees! LOLOL

I just wanted to suggest a great little place for lunch. It's called "Café L'Étranger" (don't worry, they speak English there!) It's a little walk from the consulate...about 3 blocks or so on Ste. Catherine Street. It's at the corner of University in front of the Archambault store. It's in the basement so you have to look for the sign.

They have amaizing food and very affordable. If you don't feel for that, just walk west on Ste Catherine and you'll find plenty!. If you walk East, you''l be able to enjoy the Jazz fest. Enjoy Montreal!! and hope all your interviews go smoothly!

Can't wait to read your experiences!

That sounds lovely.. I am sitting not too far from there right now, at the Second Cup on St. Catherine Street. What an amazing city! (now, if I could find Toronto Guy & Fiona.. tongue.gif )

The drive was long (2 days) but we made it to Montreal in time for Rush Hour today! (yay - at least we got a nice slow view of the city! laughing.gif ) the border crossing was pretty easy, the border guard was not too sure about my child-custody court order for Fiona (because my county courthouse doesn't believe in seals) anyway, here we are! We will probably scope the consulate tomorrow. For now, I need to catch up on work! tongue.gif

I totally want to live here. Perhaps its a little too late for that rofl.gif

Hi everyone

I have returned from my absenteeism on VJ! I really needed to take a break from all the obsessing on the interview and enjoy the time I had to bond more with my future family in Asheville as well as getting used to the massive culture shock of pick-up truck hillbillies and organic hippies living together in peacefull harmony (for real!)

It's been one hell of a long rough ride. Here it is July already and we filed back in October '08 - it seems like a lifetime ago. So much has evolved and changed since October and now we're about 4 days off from the end-mark. I told Kristin, she has every right to jump and down and say " I told you so!!" because I've been so dang paranoid about the interview. Truth is - this visa will used for 2 days (after waiting 8 months for it) as we will get married emmediatly after crosisng the border to begin the AOS process. My poor frail mom is alone living in Toronto and I can't dilly-dally on the Adanved Parole.

I'm excited to meet the people from this forum on July 8th! b]Anyone up for a pleasant celebratory group lunch on the 8th?[/b] It's the "Canadian" thing to do afterall, eh!?

My fiance and I are deffinetly game for having lunch after our interviews!! Would be so great to celebrate with other people who have been going through the same process!! Can't wait to see everyone in just 5 days smile.gif

We are close to Quebec, in a little hotel in upstate NY. Fiona is the most amazing 4-year old car tripper in the world wink.gif
Amber- youch! 20 cents a page!

HappyCloud - great for lunch! Hopefully there is a place nearby.
Anyone else??

smile.gif Excited??!!

Hello all you VJers!

Toronto Guy & I have been enjoying our long visit together, and have been busy dealing with all types of real life. Its funny, now that we don't have an internet-based relationship, I am not on the computer as much in the evening ;-)

Last night we were up til 1230 booking hotels and planning out route... I'm the only driver and it looks like a long road. He has promised to entertain me and Fiona (my 4 y/o)... we're looking at a trip to Atlanta (from Asheville, NC) to get my dad's truck, and then back to Asheville to sleep, and then from Asheville to Montreal - via the Adirondacks ;-) I'm glad that the truck has satellite radio!! laughing.gif

We are arriving in Montreal Monday afternoon/evening/night and will be staying right downtown ($48 a night, found through Kayak.com). Tuesday will be working/touring/finding the consulate and mapping our route, including potty breaks and 4 y/o 6 AM meltdown preparations laughing.gif Wednesday is the big day (guess the 4 couples will be racing to see who gets there first? :lol) and then we are staying til checkout on Friday - then on to Toronto, where we are staying in N. York at a really nice hotel ($34USD/night THANK YOU Hotwire). Hopefully we'll have the visa by the next week and will be on our way.

Papers are almost together, just need to finish assembling/copying my I-134. We're starting to pack and sweat ;-) Assembling some evidence, just in case my presence is not convincing enough rofl.gif

We can't believe our interview is next week!!!!! But we are so glad to have spent so much time together while waiting, it's been truly amazing and rewarding. kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif

So, refresh the memory - who all has an interview on the 8th? blush.gif

Best of luck to everyone who has an interview next week!!! kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif

One question, is it possible to change this date?

Thank you all

NO!! Don't even try to change the date. Of course, it's possible but it will be regretted as you'll be put to the bottom of the pile, and wait another few months to be re-scheduled.... so don't, unless it's a matter of life and death, try and change the date!

So I called the DOS again today hoping that I’d just called too early on Wednesday and that I’ve been scheduled as well, but there was nothing. Looking at everybody’s timelines, I think I should have had a date by now and I don’t know if it’s because there’s a problem with my file or if the file has been misplaced. I spoke to our attorney and she said that since we are still within the 4-6 month time estimate to interview that there is nothing we can do. So now I’m officially falling apart. I don’t mean to sound like I’m ranting, and I’m very happy for you guys getting your interviews (we all wait too long for Montreal as compared to many other consulates around the world), but I do wish there was some sort of order or at least transparency in the process. It’d be nice to know that I’m at least still in the queue. Oh well, I guess I just have to wait maybe and start re-vamping our wedding plans again. crying.gif

Aww, Sparky!! I'm sorry sad.gif they are so cruel with their unpredictable ways!! Maybe there is another stack that will be scheduled soon.

Sooo I missed calling last Friday because I had to work and head to the airport right after work because I flew down for a 4 day weekend to see my hunnie.... Crossing at the Peace Bridge was interesting, it was the first time I ever had any trouble from the immigration people, the officer wasnt going to let me into the US until I dug out my p3 and went through it with a magnifying glass. He didnt believe me that I met my bf on World of Warcraft and brought over 3 other people to look at me and point and say that I play WoW. Finaly after like 15 mins of being lectured about how I have to return to Canada and cant stay in the US without a visa he let me go and I was on my way to the airport smile.gif So it really does pay afterall to keep your documents with you at all times, he even told me to do so. Anyways I had a really nice, relaxing weekend with my hunnie, especially when he surprised me with a ring at our favourite spot at the beach. Was soo totally worth the sunburn. I got home late yesterday and tried to call DoS but they were closed sad.gif So I tried today after work and ..... JULY 8, 8:30 am!!!!!!

YAY!!! That's GREAT!!!! finally some movement! I'm glad to see Montreal's moving! I hope they keep giving interviews this week...so if they got you in their system in April and you got a July interview, that means I'm getting an August interview...that sucks i was hoping for July...oh well, can't do nothing about it....

LOL, I would have done the same thing, I am on pins and needles today, I just want to know the date, I don't care if it's not until August or something like that, just tell me the darn date smile.gif

Happycloud I feel the same way! I might try to visit my fiance to wait the rest of this out once I have a date to buy the return ticket for.

Looks like you are a March early April filer, did you think about calling today to see if you have an interview scheduled? You just might have it since the trend for the past two months has been the last friday of the month which is TODAY!!!! blink.gif

Where is the pacing emoticon???

So anyone have any news yet? I am waiting until 4pm to call DOS, give them all dat to schedule interviews. I hope you early April people get good news today smile.gif (And me too but I am an end of April person)

I saw you posted and so I rushed in to see if you had called and gotten an interview laughing.gif

no news yet smile.gif

I hope we all get scooped up and given interview dates, but would be happy knowing that at least those that have been waiting since end of March/early April get theirs. good.gif

We are hoping tomorrow is the day as well! It would be nice to end May with some dates...

We anticipated trouble at the border, which is why we brought so much stuff. Julie, I'm surprised to hear that they hassle you so much - hello, you have kids!! I guess they are just doing their jobs - but it was gut wrenching having to go through the border like that... but so worth it!!! (I say as I listen to the lovely sound of TG reading to my daughter...) Makes it allllllll worthwhile. smile.gif

Kristen/Tguy, congrats on making the POE!!!! And how exciting that you guys are now together! Kinda makes the waiting easier!

I'm hoping my POE will go smooth on Friday smile.gif im activating my visa and plan on crossing early to avoid waiting smile.gif

Good luck to interviews next week!

Thanks to everyone for your well wishes!! It really does make the wait easier, though we are still anxious for things to be "official" and are anxious about the "what ifs".

We (TG) called DoS today and there was no interview scheduled as of yet.

Good luck Poprocks on your POE!! and everyone else, lets hope for some more signs of life soon!! wacko.gif

I don't mean to hijack the conversation, so please don't let me - but I wanted to let everyone know that Toronto Guy & I were successful in him coming to visit me for a month while we wait for the interview. he came in my car with me & my daughter, without a return ticket. Paperwork saved our @$$!

Heres the details:

Waiiit! You and Toronto Guy are a couple? Wow, I hadn't caught on to that. Good to hear you made it!

Hey guys,

I just called the state department and there’s nothing yet. I did find out that our lawyer was much more efficient then we thought though. Apparently my package 3 was logged on March 23rd, so it looks like they’re definitely taking their time issuing the dates right now.

I’m pretty stressed with the wait right now too. Though we made it harder on ourselves then it needed to be I think - I moved and left my job planning to spend a couple months with my family on the east coast before leaving for the US. I personally try not to think about all the people who’ve filed way later then us and are already finished, it’s just frustrating. It could also be worse. I’ve seen people on here whose cases have been lost by the USCIS etc….

WOW! March 23rd? wow.gif

Kristin is actually referring to the DS-156 - not the 156k. Do we still need to prepare a DS-156? The packet 3 never asks for it except in tiny little print on one of the other DS forms at the top.

We're not even married and you're already speaking for me rofl.gif

I think you guys will have June interviews too, I haven't seen anyone scheduled for June recently.

And, if you're feeling down just look at my timeline, I waiting 3 months to find out my date! Not a lot of other people had to wait as long as me!

Yikes!!

I just wish they wouldn't do that to anyone, let alone us :-)

So... question - 156K? what is this? blush.gif

Would be great if we heard something by the end of this week, though I am still guessing it will be May 29.

I am hoping to hear something by May 29 as well, if not I am going to ask them for the next possible interview date, this is getting rediculous. You'd think someone else would have had a date by now, or maybe they are waiting until the end of May to schedule all of us, since I did notice a lot of fillers got their p4 at the end of March. Has anyone noticed a NOA2 expiring before the interview was scheduled? I know I read somewhere that they can just extend the expiration date... just wondering because mine expires in about 6 weeks...

:-( I'm sorry yours is about to expire, that stinks! but yes, they automatically extend it from what I've read. perhaps you can e-mail them to be sure (better to have it in their writing laughing.gif)
I can't imagine that we won't all have interview dates by the 29th. but I'm the optimist blush.gif

Alright! Here's the list for the next while until we start getting interview dates! Whether or not we get a date, let's keep each other updated on YES or NO for each of the days we've volunteered to call the DOS.

HAPYCLOUD: MONDAY
TORONTO GUY: TUESDAY
SPARKY&ME: WEDNESDAY
KRISTINL: THURSDAY
RUBY_MTL: FRIDAY

Next weekend I'm going to go visit the love of my life until the stupid interview gets scheduled. I'm sick of waiting for this B.S. to finish. Nonetheless, I will still call on the day I said I would and report back to the forum.

We’re thinking about doing the same thing, we’re sick of being separated and I’m in limbo here anyhow because I left my job way too soon thinking that I’d be in the US already. I’m hesitant to try to enter with no return ticket though - and I can’t buy the ticket until I know the interview date so I’ll probably hold off. Let us know how it goes at the POE.

We will! I (USC) am going up there and bringing him back. he won't have a return ticket either. Someone told me today in another thread that they crossed without a return ticket - they did it by car and said they'd be returning in January, then bought their bus ticket while in the US.

We'll post our experience for sure. :-)

I am not sure exactly how accurate this data is because it hasnt been updated in over a month but I think that based on the lack of interviews scheduled for May, that May is another February with like only a small number of dates. Maybe everyone decided to book their holidays for this month and they are severely understaffed. Im kinda kicking myself for not pestering for another p3 more when my first one never arrived, otherwise if I would have actually gotten the first one I might have actually had a date by now...

Hey there! This spreadsheet is definitely outdated. I've got the task of getting it back up to date and I've got the original file from the original creator... so that will be my task for this upcoming week! I'll be checking back in here to get everyone's dates! smile.gif

good.gif biggrin.gif

Thats very sweet of you, thank you!!!!!!!!

Just called DOS for the 1st time...They said our date of eligibility was May 5th (although Montreal received it on the 1st...oh well!)so I guess I should recalculate and count the 6 weeks from May 5th...we'll see.

How can I be added to the spreadsheet?

I asked a couple of days ago if anyone still had editting priviledges to the spreadsheet, if no one still does I might try and make a new one on Monday.

I think July Bride was editing the document... I know we are not on there because we were over enthusiastic about our timelines (okay, me) and we each filled one in and then I linked mine - so it confused the system & my pestery PMs have gone unanswered. So, if the spreadsheet happens again, let me know and I'll fill in all our info. biggrin.gif

Hopefully it won't be much longer star_smile.gif
