*sigh*

I don't think Captain Ewok intended for this thread to be another source of bickering and personal digs.

So, I'm going to lock it. He may re-open it, once he gets a chance to review it.

QUOTE (Rocketta @ Jul 1 2008, 01:19 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Well I think allowing certain posters to derail threads should be a violation of TOS once someone posts their opinions then that should be it but apparently some get to post them over and over and over like their word is the truth and law. Seems to me if you stopped allowing the trolling certain groups would be allowed to bicker? I know I would never go into a thread I didn't agree with and spend the majority of my time but hey that's just me. smile.gif

This thread is just a request for ALL who frequent MENA to have a bit more respect for one another. No one is being singled out, it applies to everyone.

This thread wasn't started so people could continue on with the bickering started in another thread. It is a polite request for members to have a bit more respect and if they don't like someone steer clear of them and their topics.

So, move on and don't use this thread to continue the previous subject.

Ditto. For a country I adore living in, that is home to some wonderful people, you have the worst IO officers in the world. I think the USA was voted the worst of all the countries in the world for the attitude and unwelcoming nature of these officers. It's shameful.

We are DEFINITELY going to proceed with a lawyer. My mother works for an international law firm and already has had counsel with an attorney who said she DEFINITELY wants to get involved. We are in the process of documenting everything and getting her all of the documents so that she can proceed. We think it's best to hold off from contacting the media until the lawyer has been in contact with Homeland Security and gets the information she needs.

I promise that I will keep you all updated on what we find out and how it proceeds.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresE-mailing London Embassy...

When you email the Embassy in London, you now get a message back saying something like

"If you were told to email this address you will recieve a response shortly, if you were not you will receive no further correspondance"

So can I no longer email them to find out about an interview ?

I've emailed them a couple of times and there seem to be two different messages that you can get.

The first is:

"Your message has been received by the Consular Information Unit. We are
currently averaging three to four days to answer email correspondence.

There is no mechanism for "status checks" while a nonimmigrant visa
application is being processed. Inquiries concerning cases which
require administrative processing or background checks, and which have
been pending less than 60 days, will not be answered.

Please do not, under any circumstances, send a duplicate or follow-on
e-mail. Repeat messages slow down our response time, and we reserve the
right to permanently delete all e-mails from senders who transmit repeat
messages or status checks."

The other one is:

"This e-mail address is solely for individuals who have been authorized to contact the Consular Information Unit about a specific matter.

This address is not for general inquiries from the public, attorneys or agents of record. Unauthorized inquiries will be deleted without response.

Highly detailed visa information is available from the Embassy's website at http://london.usembassy.gov. Due to our heavy workload, we cannot respond to email inquiries when the subject matter is addressed on the website.

We also cannot respond to requests for expedited processing, or nonimmigrant visa "case status" inquiries which are still within the estimated time frame given on the website, or by the interviewing Consular Officer, whichever is longer.

If you still have questions after reading all of the content on the website, please call the Embassy's Operator Assisted Information Service for personalized service. Contact information can be found on this
page: http://london.usembassy.gov/cons_new/visa/index.html."

As to why there are two separate responses I don't know. I emailed the same addy twice.

Incidentally, they average a 10 days reply time at the moment, not the three to four they state. Must be busy...

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedureswhat happens

You'll get quicker and more responses to general questions if you ask them in a general forum rather than keeping them in a regional forum. Had you asked this same question in the CR1/IR1 forum, you would have had a quicker, more accurate response.

yeah I guess. funny enough I didnt even know if my visa fell under CR1/IR1 category even though I filled all the forms myself from beiggining. hehe. thanks for advice. I'll fire this question in approriate forum now.

It is also important that you fill in your information as well, if you had of done, my answer to your question would have been more appropriate. ;)

We are happy to help here, but we DO need some basic information to enable us to give the correct info! Seeing as this is a CR1 question, I'm going to move it to that forum.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedureswhat happens

hey brits

I'll soon be making plans to move to states on my immigration visa. I wonder what happens at the port of entry.

what sort of documents you have to present and fill at POE?
What document do u get obtain from officials at POE?
How do you get green card and SSN?
How long it takes to get green card and SSN?

I'd be grateful for the help.

Regards

jigar

POE ~ You're given a brown envelope from the embassy, you present that, your I-94 (which you fill in on the plane) and your passport. POE will take the envelope, stamp your I-94 and passport and you can go on your merry little way. :P

To get your GC you need to apply for AOS. Check out the AOS forum and guides here on VJ and then, if you still can't find any answers, please feel free to post a question.

There is also a forum here that deals with SSN/AP/EAD questions, again, have a read through the guides and post a question if you cannot find the appropriate answers.

I just had mine done in Snappy Snaps. The have a special type of photo they take for visas and passports. There is a Snappy Snaps in most towns in the UK.

In packet 3 it specifys where to get them done; it gives you a list of places that are approved by the Consulate. I actually can't help but think you made things a little difficult for yourself... :)

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionNotice Time for Interview

Hi,

Can anyone please tell me what the notice period is for the K1 Interview?
I've had my NOA2 since August 19th and still no interview date. All the paperworks including the Checklist have been sent to the Consulate in Britain in mid September and we've still not heard anything.

Thanks
Sacha

Well, my NOA2 was dated 31st July. My paperwork was sent in mid August and my interview was on the 3rd of October.

I think you should email the consulate or get your fiance to phone the DOS to find out what is going on. I'm sure there is nothing to worry about but it might put your mind at ease. :)

mags,

One filing fee for what - the petition (correct) or the visa application (wrong, unless you were extremely lucky and someone in the consular section made a mistake).

Yodrak

My son (K-2) was on MY petition. We only paid one filing fee.

We paid one fee for the initial I-129f application. Then, we paid for each visa (the K-1 AND K-2) with the payment slips provided in packet 4; £63 each if I recall correctly. £126 in total.

Sorry, I didn't make myself very clear did I? :)

No, you can't assume anything AT ALL. Never assume you won't have any problems. I am mystified by people who book plane tickets for a few days after their interviews....but before they have actually had the interview itself.

*shakes head*

I mean, there is being confident and being overly confident. To me, it would be like tempting fate to do all of this.

Alot of people do all right and pass the interview...but there are a few who encounter problems and you can never guarantee it won't be you.

 So true! Look how long your visa took to arrive & ICE2005 is stuck in name checks now.

Yup! *agrees wholeheartedly*

I don't mean to frighten anyone or get them even more worried. Gawd knows it is stressful enough. BUT it is a good idea to go in with the idea that you could potentially get a delay or hold up of some description. There is no reason to think it will happen to you...but no reason to assume it won't either.

It doesn't happen often, but it does happen.
