As the Captain has mentioned before, the OP of a thread can request having it locked or removed.

That was what was done in this case. Thanks for understanding. :)

Middle East and North AfricaConcerns and Trust

I don't get this "planting seeds of doubt" idea. I mean, how much power does a person have over another? If the story is made up, does it really matter? If it's someone's true story then that's all it is. Anyone who takes this story and makes rash decisions based on it is either really out of their minds or was already looking for a reason to get out and now this is serving as their excuse.

You know, the more I think about...

I'm really touched by your kind words of support Peezy. Thanks! :)

In addition, today has proven that there are clearly two sides to every story and that must be considered before applying it to our own personal situations.

Jackie, I am dissapointed in you.

Mohammed has every right to share his side of the story and I'm glad he did. You know very well that if you are questioning Islam then he has every right to leave- especially if you were questioning it to manipulate him to include you in prayer.

Thank you Mohammed for posting your side of the story.

Do not bring issues from other threads here please, Sarah.

This is my post that I was working on when the entire thread was deleted. Thanks.

Then perhaps sending it via PM would have been the better action to take.

Middle East and North AfricaMENA BABIES

The kid's going to grow up in the U.S., so it's not bad to pick something sort of pronounceable for all the boring Anglos, if having people mispronounce your kid's name would drive you crazy. (if it won't drive you nuts, go for whatever you like.) I like Zachariyah (or Zachariah) off of your list. It can nickname to 'Zach', useful when the boy is a moody American pre-teen.

Oh, and little 'Anas' will be '#######' on the playground very quickly.

My own name isn't that odd (it's Welsh) but due to the American accent in general people aren't able to pronounce it. I get called Sean most of the time. I love my name but I find having people unable to pronounce it properly very wearing.

I'm all for having a name that is easier to pronounce. It doesn't have to be a common name, it can be different, but if it is one that means your child doesn't have to say his/her name out loud five times every time someone asks about it, then I think that is a good idea.

I find it a pain and I'm 34!

Middle East and North Africawhat is your opinion??
QUOTE (LaL @ Sep 12 2007, 07:26 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Just for clarity - I think Jenn is correct. No good will come of outright contacting them. If it is a text reply to a concerned mother in law, short & sweet about her son soon return to home maybe that would suffice.

I have to agree.

It is a rare situation when a family stays in touch with the ex-wife or husband, so it shouldn't really matter what they think of you. He is their son, they are 95% of the time going to side with him, it's a family thing.

I, personally, would just do my damnedest to forget it, not let his lies get to me and move on. Get him out of your life and get on with yours. Don't dwell on the things he has said, or is saying, just ignore them. YOUR friends and family know they are lies and that is the most important thing.

Sometimes it is really hard to ignore when falsehoods are being thrown around about you, but you can show that you are the better person for ignoring them and rising above them...

Beef ribs are awesome. My slow-cooker 'recipe':

Tomato sauce
Brown Sugar
Apple Cider Vinegar
Salt
Pepper
Red Onion

Chop the red onion finely. Mix the tomato sauce, vinegar, & sugar & spices to taste. You're looking for something sweet and tangy, so start with the tomato sauce as a base and add the vinegar and sugar slowly until you get the consistency you want. You can also add cloves or nutmeg if you want to.

Pour mixture over:
Beef ribs

Put them in a slow cooker on low. Come back later. Eat.

I'm writing that one down!

Happy Sunday! kicking.gif

Well, Saturday was indeed an adventure. I gassed up the car about 1pm and hit the road.

Destination: St Louis Missouri
Mission: Suprise everyone at the VJ meetup
Travel Time: 3 hours 47 min (before Rest Areas)
Entertainment: Several newly burnt CD's

I settled in on I55 South and hit the cruise control. Pack of smokes and a bottle of water and I was ready for my journey. I was going to meet more VJ'ers in person! I have a hard time passing up rest areas, so I had to check them all out. I love the French Vanilla coffee from the vending machines.

I get to St Louis (saw the arch!) and I was kinda nervous walking in the restaurant. Everyone was so nice and it was really special to meet people that I have talked with over the years. Thank you Carla and Gene for organizing this meetup. good.gif

So, it gets to be time to drive home and as I leave St Louis, I call Amal. We talked, and talked, and soon I had gone 50 miles. Well why hang up now, I have free weekends. We talked for 155 miles til my battery died. Man, did I get sleepy driving that last hour. It sucked. I was all nodding off. I rolled down the windows and changed the CD to Metallica. Nothing like some heavy metal to wake ya up.

That was my big adventure. If you ever get a chance to go to a meetup,,GO!

Jackie rose.gif

I reckon we need a meet up in Indiana somewhere. There are a few Ohio, Illinois and Indiana VJers and I reckon we are long overdue for a meet up at some point. good.gif

No explosions here please. I'm cooking dinner.

Oh, she has done so already, don't worry.

How else would I know that about her?

Has she done so in this thread?

does it make a difference if it was in this thread or one yesterday? is that like a TOS thing?

If something happens in another thread you should leave it in that thread and not bring it into another. Especially if it is used to make a dig, sly remark or deliberately used to bring more drama into the mix.
