Two years until you have to lift conditions on the green card. It's conditional because they haven't been married for more than two years (same for all fiances of course).

If you check any hotel website close to the consulate in CDJ you'll see information on the cost of taxis from either airport to the hotel.

http://www.ichotelsg.../transportation

Abraham Gonzalez (CJS)
Distance: 7 MI / 11.27 KM South to Hotel
Taxi Charge (one way): $20.00 (USD)
Time by taxi: 15 minutes

El paso international airport (ELP)
Distance: 9 MI / 14.48 KM South to Hotel
Taxi Charge (one way): $50.00 (USD)
Time by taxi: 20 minutes

The big cost is going back to ELP because the wait at the bridge.

We crossed the bridge last month and they DID NOT put a specific time you had to go. We went at 1:00AM and there were over 50 people there. Right now the average time to cross is over 2 hours most of the time, then you have to go inside. You will wait in line for however long it takes, it is always busy because B1/B2 visa holders are always trying to get I-94s so they can travel in the US.

That looks like the immigrant visa information - it has references that don't apply.

In any event, the assumption is that she hasn't been married before (the OP has never mentioned this) and doesn't have a criminal background. CDJ doesn't require the USC's birth certificate for K1s and based on experience here , it's never asked for. It's also not included in the Fiance Packet list. That said, it wouldn't hurt to take it, but it's they don't normally even look at it since US citizenship of the petitioner has already been proven.

FIRST: Fill out in DUPLICATE, but do not sign, the enclosed DS-156 Non-Immigrant Application, if your unmarried
children will apply with you, two copies of form OF-156 for each child must be completed in full.

from your country.

2. Follow instructions to apply for a medical exam; see attached Instructions for the Medical Examination form

3. Original and photocopy of applicant’s birth certificate (applicants with non-English or non-Spanish birth

5. Persons convicted of a crime must obtain a certified copy of each court record and any prison record,

clemency.

6. Complete, but do not sign the attached Intend to Marry Affidavit (CDJ-401 form).

7. Two un-mounted full-face photos, taken within the past six mont

If I have all the evidence/NOA notices and:

1) Filled out the DS-156 online and printed it out
2) Have her original Mexican Birth Certificate and certified English translation copy
3) Marry Affidavit (CDJ-401)

then the ONLY thing my fiancee needs to bring to the interview is her Mexican Passport?

Is that right?

The medical, payment, and photos will be done in Juarez.

I just want to make sure there is nothing else SHE needs to bring. I see to remember reading something about the need for immunization records. Anybody know?

Thanks!

Proof of relationship and for K1 dont you need proof you met in person also? The is the evidence you stated right?

When my wife went to her interview all they needed was my tax return and W2. I made way over the minimum so they told her that was all they needed. I am all for providing more information than is needed but don't worry about other income information if you dont have it as long as you show that you can easily support your spouse.

If you have time ask someone how to get to Viva Mexico and see the show. It is a restaurant but at night it is a dinner theator. They sing and dance, and a little comedy too. It isn't too expensive and you will have fun.

Can one of you please link the URL from the CDJ website that shows what items aren't allowed (cell phones, mirrors, metal, etc.)?

Thank you,
nm

The directions you received from the consulate with the appointment letter lists everything not allowed.

My wife had her interview on the 25th of July and we flew out of El Paso. One thing to remember is that she has to go to the border crossing to get her I94 and stamp her passport. Depending how busy they are it may take a long time.

Is your wife from Juarez or another part of Mexico?

How was everyone's POE at Juarez/El Paso ? My wife hates the border patrol there because they are rude and disrespectful to Mexicans. They are nice to me only because I am an American but all her friends and family are usually treated bad especially if the officers are Mexican. My wife's family and friends are all middle class just like most of us Americans but they say the border patrol treats all Mexicans like low class people. I can't wait until my wife has her US citizenship and crosses the border then I won't have to hold my tongue when they are disrespectful to her. She always tells me to be calm and do not say anything because they have the power to take any visa away whenever they like.

This is a little unusual as Allie said. If they send the results electronically, how will he get his xray copy? Just something he should be sure to ask about.

I just called him back and asked him about that and he said they were doing that with everyone - hmmmmm. I will talk to him after I get out of work and get the low down on everything. Hope I'm not driving you all crazy with the blow by blow's, I can't even concentrate on work right now I am so pre-occupied with this.

Ay! I'm so glad he is with friends though and not alone.

I read this and it sucks that all the money we pay in to SS we won't get if we save for our own retirement. It should be our money no matter what. This is why they want us to plan for our own retirement so the government gets to keep all the money we pay and we get nothing in return.

US Citizenship General DiscussionDo I need a visa or something...
http://travel.state....is/cis_998.html

A valid passport is required to enter and depart Peru. Tourists must also provide evidence of return or onward travel. U.S. citizens may enter Peru for short-term tourist- or business-related visits of up to 90 days; however, the actual period authorized is determined by the Peruvian immigration officer at the time of entry into Peru. After admission, travelers may also extend their visa for an additional three months. Persons who remain beyond their period of authorized stay without obtaining a visa extension or a residence visa will have to pay a fine to depart Peru. Visitors for other than tourist or short-term business visit purposes must obtain a Peruvian visa in advance. Business workers (under contract) should ascertain the tax and exit regulations that apply to the specific visa they are granted. Peru does not require any immunizations for entry, although it recommends vaccination against Yellow Fever

My sister and brother-in-law had this exact problem and yes USCIS will have a big problem with it for citizenship. Go to a CPA right away and file ammended taxes as well as pay any penalties or set up payments. You will have to have this all done before they approve you. You could try to reschedule if at all possible. My brother-in-law went to the interview and they gave him all kinds of problems. They gave him until Aug 6th to correct the problem and that is when he has to go back with proof. Hopefully he will be approved then?

What if I go to the interview without my tax trasncript, so far I have not been requested to provide them.
For your brother how did this come up. Can you please let me know.

I assumed they required the last 3 years of tax returns for the interview? Whatever reason they saw that he filed single. He has been in the US for 25 years with his greencard. If it is not anywhere on the list of things you need to provide for the interview then maybe it won't be a problem but make sure 100% before you show up without them. I guess they could do everything and then ask you to provide them later before they can approve you?

HA HA HA !! Oh.. hubby & I are COMPLETELY on opposite sides of most issues!! :) tee hee..

He's very "right" of right.. I'm a Lefty leaning hippy socialist. :) NICE one!! We have some SUPER debates at supper though!

He is a great listener though.. so I"m blessed.. we can hear each other which is refreshing!

As an American I am very proud of my country. Unfortunately alot of Americans take for granted everything we have over the rest of the world. My wife is from Mexico and I would move there in a second to make her happy and I would be happy there with her.
The reason why so many people desire immigration to the US is because of economics and security. Canada is basically the same as the US for economics and security. Canada's economy is dependent on the US to purchase its goods.
Canada is beautiful and I can see why people from their will always love it.

I am a permanent resident (just under 3 years) living in Texas. I am a Canadian citizen. My American husband would like to study abroad in Canada, and I would like to go with him. However I understand this will mean I have abandoned my US permanent residency, forcing us to start all over and re-apply for return to the states as husband and wife.

Obviously I dont want to jeopardize my permanent resident status, and I dont particularly want to go through a whole immigration process again...

What options do we have?

(Re-entry permits appear to only apply to travelers... I would be employed in Canada...)

Just travel back to the US when needed? too bad you haven't gotten citizenship yet.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionFee Waiver for I-175 removal of conditions.

Hi,

I have been posting recently regarding my application to remove conditions on my greencard. I have yet to do so and the second anniversary of the receipt of my green card will be coming up in September. I was going to file it this week but how now just found out that the fee for doing so is a ridiculous $545 and as I have been out of work and on unemployment for about four months there is no way I will be able to submit it at the moment.
I considered filing for a fee waiver but have read that if you do so and are rejected you have to file the whole thing again. I'm sure by that time my original green card will have expired. Will the initial filing count if I file it with a request for a fee waiver?

Also what are the chances of getting a waiver? I would be lying if I said I was experiencing 'extreme hardship' but we are only barely keeping our heads above water and paying the mortgage at the moment. honestly what is the likelihood of me getting a waiver. Should I just bite the bullet and take out a loan or something?

Thanks in advance.

I am curious what part of the country do you live where you can't find a job for 4 months? I am not being critical, only curious. Are there jobs available that are part time just to save enough for removal of conditions?

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionUnemployment Insurance for US Citizen

I have tried searching the forums to my applicable situation but I will just go ahead and ask and I will really appreciate if you people can provide me some guidelines.
1.) My wife, who is the US Citizen and my sponsor, has lost her job. We are about to file for I-751 by the end of the month. If she applied for UI, will that affect the outcome of the decision in any way at all?
2.) Since she is the sponsor (along with my Father-in-law), are they required to pay it back in any way the UI that she might get?

Thanks a lot for all taking time to answer!

Question 2: They are sponsoring you, not the USC. Unemployment benefits are based on how long she had worked for the company and her salary. It is payed by the employer, not the government.

Question 1: It may or may not allow you to fall under the 125% requirement above the poverty level.

Don't worry, I have sent many packages USPS and tracted them. They are not the best at keeping records electronically. The only real proo you will get is the return receipt they mail back to you. Sometimes the electronic tracking works but sometimes they don't do something so it doesn't give you all the information. Remember this is a US government agency, they don't have to do things correctly like private enterprise.

Ok let me understand, your ####### ####### wife sleeps with someone else while you are working your ars off to make her happy and gets pregnant. The child is innocent but this guy should not be held responsable if the child is not his. If they want to work out the marriage that is great but still do the DNA test and put the real father on the birth certificate and man him pay support. If you accept responsability for the child even financially some judges will make you pay support even if the kid isn't your own.
