Well, I just got off with an extremely rude customer service person. I asked them why it has been a week and I still haven't gotten my RFE letter. They said I had to wait 15 days before they can do anything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can someone PLEASE tell me how long after their RFE email did they recieve the letter??????

Fifteen days from TODAY of fifteen days from the date they issued it? If its from teh day it was issued, it probably just to make sure that you actually did recieve it. Mail at Christmas time, especially, can be a little slower than usual. But if its 15 days from today than I'm more than happy to join in your outrage and go girlwerewolf2xn.gif

This whole process sucks. I'm sorry you're stuck in it for even extra time. Mirla too.


Nah, it is 15 business days from the date they issued it which was December 5th. I just don't understand why they just can't $$##$ mail something without causing additional stress and unnecessary wait time. 15 days for mail! That is just ridiculous. It should take 3-4 days tops. I got my RFE email on 12/5 but still no letter in the mail. It has been a week! Is it normal to have to wait this long??? I am getting nervous.

I love how they give us a deadline to mail in the additional evidence. They have nerve considering deadlines mean nothing to them..... mad.gif

One was approved for Cairo the day before me...I THINK her petition will get to Cairo tomorrow. Melinda, Monday or Tuesday call DOS or the NVC number...make sure they get your petition..ask for the new case number. I did email Cairo...and believe it or not GOT AN ANSWER this morning...I was shocked at the fast turn around time. WOW. Impressed. I can also show you a thread that was written on how to track your petition in DHL...till it gets to Cairo. There is a package on the way right now..that may be the other girls..or both hers and mine...Im not sure..will know tomorrow when DOS/NVC is open again. Cairo will NOT send out packet 3 or schedule and interview till they get the petition. I pulled some numbers....60% of the K visas are approved within 6 months with the majority approved in 3 months or less. (thats since May.) April they had a few that are STILL in AP...and there are 2 or 3 (1 K1 and the rest K3) that have been in over a year...but dont you listen to anyone there in that forum IF you go there....every case is different....

For now girl...LETS CELEBRATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Told you it would come....hehehee...PRAISE GOD FOR HIS FAITHFULNESS. THANK YOU GOD FOR THIS APPROVAL.

Yes.. I am also very fortunate because he came to be with me last week. My father passed away Thanksgiving weekend, and he flew in for the funeral and was able to help my mom and I through this difficult time.

I am SO GLAD they did not give him a hard time about anything on entry.

I am all for having a wedding ceremony celebrating your relationship. The only thing that would make this legal, church ceremony or not, is a marriage certificate. AS long as you do not have a legal marriage certificate you are not married.




Hi everybody

I am new to this forum, which I find very helpful for all of us who are filing fiance(e) petitions.

My fiancee and I got engaged last April '07 but I was waiting to get my naturalization certificate to be able to petition for her. I got naturalized on June and spent the last weeks preparing the application, which I sent a few days ago (July 10th).

Thanks to the information on this website, I was able to put together my application package, which I had reviewed by a lawyer prior to sending it (my company offered help on this and contacted a competent immigration lawyer). The lawyer said everything was fine and answered a couple concerns I have, for which I would like to have a second opinion.

As for the concerns, the first one is about a denied tourist visa application. My fiancee has relatives in the US, who invited her to spent this summer with them. Therefore, she applied for a tourist visa back in February '07 and was denied. At that time, I thought it would be a great idea as I would be able to go see her at her relatives' house and propose (that was my little surprise), but anyways, that did not happen... As for the application, she declared that she did not have a permanent resident/USC fiance in the US as we were not engaged by then (she wasn't even thinking about my intentions : ) )

In any case, I have read that a denied tourist visa application should not affect a K-1 visa application, but that has to be declared whatsoever. But my concern is, I don't know if the officials will get a wrong picture and would think that in reality she wanted to come with me and stay... and that she did not declared having a PermRes/USC fiance on purpose. Like I said, she had no idea I was planning to propose. Just to recall, visa application was in February '07, we got engaged on April '07. I stated this engagement date in my Q18 attachment letter when I explained how we met and all that.

Please let me know you thoughts about this. Lawyer said I shouldn't worry at all about this.

As for the second concern, this is more a cultural one. My fiancee's family is very conservative/traditional and we would like to have a church marriage prior to taking off, also because her parents can't travel to the US. Church marriages are not legal in Mexico, therefore, we would not be legally married. Lawyer said that in case my fiancee is questioned, she would be entitled to say that she is not married and that we only had a religious ceremony which did not have any legal consequence.

Please let me know your opinion, I would appreciate it.

Well, before I finalize my message I would like to explain how I put together my application package, hoping that this would be of help. I filled out all the forms in a pretty straight forward manner. I included a Q18 attachment explaining when and how we met, talked about our meetings (I have visited 3 times in one year, have seen her 4 times though), how I got to Mexico (stayed at relatives' house, my fiancee and I are from the same city, I have relatives overthere and she lives in the same city), and stated our egagement date. As for the evidence, I included 2 photographs per visit (8 in total accounting for the time when we first met), in the back I wrote the date in this format: MM/YYYY (didn't put the day, just month/year), and also included the name of the place, and our names. I included my flight itineraries which is all I have, (i don't have boarding passes anymore and I don't have passport stamps as I was still a permament resident with Mexican nationality and was not required to show a passport neither to enter Mexico nor the US, my green card sufficed). Finally, I also included records from my bank which show that I withdrew money at an ATM in Mexico during my visits. Lawyer also said that all this evidence was fine.

I will greatly appreciate any comments, suggestions, and opinions that you can give me.

Welcome to the thread....It is hard to see others move on as happy as we are for them. I really hope we can find some positive support here, yet keep it a haven to whine, cry, and stomp our feet in as needed. Some have waited even longer like you have. My prayers are with you all as you handle the emotions that are going with this. We each understand this rollercoaster ride we are on...so its easier to sympathize.

I have called every week checking on what the status is...trying to get answers....but we all know that the customer service folks can't really answer any questions....we have a congressional inquiry by our congressman....you would think that that would get some answers, but it has been 6 weeks and we keep being put off with their office saying that it just takes time... we have had some friends of ours email senators and congressman also....no answers there....basically we have hit the wall with these folks...and they say the same thing....not anything they can really do....there is a person assigned in the VSC that congressman can send their questions on cases to, and they have to wait for that person to get back with them.

Basically we have no voice in this big mess...I will be calling the White House on Monday and will voice the concerns that the other email suggested and I am up for any other idea people have.

I called the USCIS and told them that I was at 201 days past my priority date and they said that I would have to wait 60 days since the last communication that I had from the USCIS before they could officially look into the matter...that will be Dec. 19. So WE WAIT!!!!!

I called the WHITE HOUSE. Was advised to call the HOMELAND SECURITY DEPARTMENT and ask for the NATURALIZATION AND IMMIGRATION DEPARTMENT. 4. That most of us are nearing, at or OVER the processing times while others filing months after us are now being worked.

The number to call is 202-282-8000. Please...if you really mean what you say about tired of waiting, or if you have offered support...call....

I'll call first thing Monday and see who we need to address these issues to.

Any more suggestions?

My ex-husband was getting his PHd and writing his dissertation so I was always waiting for that to finish (8 years later...), then because he was going to be a professor we never knew what part of the country he would find a job so I wanted to wait for that, the list goes on.... Now I am ready and so is Darren.

Have a baby. We really want kids and I ain't getting any younger....

These are big things for me and I hate that everything is on hold!!!!

When I called on Monday they had said that the crate containing my petition was in the hands of an adjudicator as well- not yesterday as they told you. Their standard stock answers for all and sundry are not acceptable. This is a service that we as American citizens pay for. Like all monetary transactions the customer pays for goods and/or services rendered. We petitioners pay this fee to USCIS in return for their time, effort, the cost of background checks, and labor costs, within a timeframe of six months. I am not the only person who is within days of this six month deadline.

We understand that we are only a very small sampling of a much larger set of petitions, however we are fairly representative of filers across the United States and beneficiaries around the globe.

And you and anyone on VJ are welcome to adjust this to fit their situation and representatives.

I was just thinking about that. I may just extend my stay so I am there for the interview. Maybe take next week off. Not sure-I can't think straight right now......I am SOOO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't believe I am STILL waiting for an interview date and that is all they do. Why can't they bypass that part? Such a waste of time. Darren was notified today he passed his medical so now its just the waiting game.....

Hey guys my visa is also approved without an interview blink.gif
The officer just made me sign the DS 156, took my finger prints and ask me to swear, not a single question about how Mel and i met or about my daughter. I was very suprised and i asked him weather he does not want to see the DS 230 part II and he said that they do not need it for the K-Visa blink.gif How ever i had a 2 minutes "interview" i spent 45 min at the consulat including security check, standing in line and everything. kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif
