hi i am new to this forum and am also a june filer. my fiance is coming in to visit for a couple months this weekend and i had a question maybe someone can answer. we are both pretty nervous about him getting past immigration since i have already filed the visa. the reason why he is coming is we just had a baby in august and he has yet to meet her!! does anyone know if mentioning this to the officer can hurt or help getting past? should he just keep his mouth shut about it?

It is very important to be sure to NOT tell them he is waiting on a fiance visa. The reason to turn someone away is if they feel there is reason that they are at risk of staying illegally. A child is definitely a reason and they will find him a risk. Whatever he does he should NOT tell them about seeing his kid, you or anything. If asked he should say he is there for a vacation to visit friends.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

A June filer approved from Vermont....WOW.....Maybe us May filers really did get a very lazy officer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT IS GOING ON??????

I am going to call USCIS today to see whether "the office is open".

I think it's closed... crying.gif

Yes, its closed. So I really do not have patience for the system saying they are doing all they can when they take a day off. I am at work today and I do not have the future of someone's life in my hands. LAZY and MISMANAGED-ALL OF THEM!

I have a question for anybody who can answer it for me. I've already emailed some lawyers but they just give you ####### info until you pay them a fortune..

My fiancee is in panama and is a panamanian. However, Her mother is british, so she holds both a panama and a british passport. Now for panamanians to come to america they need to obtain a visa thus going thru the system like us. However, Brits don't need a visa and they can come here for that 90 days or so time period.

My question is: Do you think my fiancee can travel to america on her british passport as a tourist. Would this hurt the chances of her being granted a fiancee visa when the time comes? I'm kinda scared because i'm planning on going through the panama system rather than British because she IS panamanian.

Would be good to have your input. Thanks ... and i really hope this is the week... its starting to be depressing..lol..

My fiance is from England. He used his tourist visa a couple times-flew in the country for 3 months, went back for a few weeks then came back on another tourist visa and flew back to England again. The third time he tried to use a tourist visa they stopped him and here we are.... At that point, we filed for a fiance visa and now we wait...

I can tell you one thing for sure. If my wait goes ONE DAY OVER 6 months I am hiring a lawyer right away. I am sick of this government just doing what they want without any regard for its citizens.

Hey!

I wanted to share my news with you all....that we received our NOA 2 in the post last saturday smile.gif !!! So far I was only a quiet reader of this thread because I think my english isn't so well yet tongue.gif .
We were already approved like it seems on october 2nd. That is the date which stands on the NOA 2 letter. The only thing is that i didn't received an e-mail before and when i look at our online status it still says case received and pending huh.gif . But we had it in the mail!!!! And our NOA 1 date was june 25th.
I have no idea why it went so fast for us. We are a normal couple like so many other here. I feel a little bad for that when i see that so many people who had filed before us are still waiting!
But I am also very very happy and maybe this will be a sign that it goes on also for all the june filers wink.gif !

I wish you all the best and a lot more approvals for this week !!!!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I actually thought the same thing. Call me immature, but I also thought that they shouldn't get a gift for CRAPPY WORK! The fact that we have to bribe them to actually do the right thing is disgusting, but its the way of the world I guess.

I'd never call you immature, because I understand the response, but as I've said before - just because they're not working on OUR petitions doesn't mean they're not working at all, and I'd be willing to wager a rather hefty sum that they're actually all over-worked rather than the opposite... see it not as a bribe, but as something to lift their spirits wink.gif

Good point. They really just need to hire more people. I don't wish that job on anyone...

By the way, letter to Oprah will be going out today!!! I also wrote to my senators, et al, but have gotten NO RESPONSES from them. I will be emailing them again reminding them of election time.

I am DEFINITELY up for a March. I think we will get a lot more people on board once it is organized. People sometimes shy away until the organizational bit is done and they just have to show up. I think it would be great!

What can I do????

amrssnowangel,

Thanks for sharing that article and web page.

Unbelievable how many things are working against us right now...300,000 high-skilled-employment VISAs, other VISAs with less processing goal times, US commitment to process 1,000 Iraqis into the US each month this fiscal year, AOS requests, our inflated 6 month goal, etc etc...

I sure am glad, (sarcasm of course) Satish Kumar is happy with the Government handling of VISAs because I sure am not...“It reinforced my belief in the American way of government,” said Satish Kumar, 31, a visa applicant who is a software programmer from India working for a California technology company.

I could care less what some immigrant worker already living in our country thinks...what happened to taking care of our own citizens and our ability to be with our loved ones??? What a load of BS!!! ranting33va.gif

I must admit that I am really starting to get scared. How long will this take...a year??? What are we supposed to do?

Employment visas should be put on hold indefinitely until family visas are taken care of. Has it come to the government prioritizing work over family??? We have the people in this country that can do the same jobs. There is nothing spectacular about the skills of these people-give me a break! Familys need to be together. That is priority one. Why are family visas the first thing to get cast aside for something else?? Work visa? refugees? I am really scared. sad.gif

I'm facing something similar. I can't go back to visit my fiance until maybe February and it makes me feel even more sad. I'm trying to be happy and he keeps reminding me to be faithful. I'm not being very successful I must admit. Please, Please God, make a miracle happen and send my Bassi home for Christmas.

dont worry my friend, the time flies when you keep busy! i remember when i came to the terrible realization that i wouldnt be seeing my baby for 6 1/2 months...i couldnt even fathom such a long time because prior to this current seperation we had only been seperated for a maximum of 4 months...i didnt think i could go any longer...we have just now reached the 4 month seperation mark and only 2 1/2 more to go! im getting pretty close, right?! lol dont sweat it, you'll be together soon enough, and very soon you will be together forever! how wonderful...i know that both you and i simply cannot wait =) hang in there troops

Thanks!

I saw a quote in the kitchen at work today that said " Worrying doesn't lessen tomorrow's troubles but it does lessen today's strength." Isn't that deep? I like it. So I wrote it on a sticky pad and put it on my computer next to my pic of my daughter and my fiance. (soon I won't be able to see the screen to work) good.gif I'm tryin'!

Hang in there. It is going to happen for us. It will.

I found this story while browsing immigration laws the other day. It's on the process of legal immigration and how much it sucks:

http://www.npr.org/t...storyId=5398818

Basically the average american seems concerned about 'illegals' coming in. So, if we can pitch our story as "This is why there are so many illegals... because THE PROCESS SUCKS and is MISMANAGED like everything else in the government right now" then we have a story that MIGHT catch the eye of the major networks.

Basically any sensational (remember.. journalism doesn't care about facts anymore) story about "This is where YOUR tax-money is wasted and THIS is why so many illegals are circumventing the system" to cause anger and fear in the viewer and then pan the camera to one of us crying and pining our fiancee, in order to get the 'emotional porn' factor into the story, we _may_ just have a the perfect story that one of the major news networks would put up. idea9dv.gif

Hell.. we should just make our own video news story. As long as it's minimal cost to them, has high emotional but little news content, they'll take it!

Not to discourage anyone relative to contacting the media however, I would be very surprised if any one of the producers at MSNBC took an interest in this particular topic relative to VSC. I understand that VSC is a nightmare, been there done that and posted it in the RFE thread, however VSC will back themselves up with "they are in the posted time frame".

If you are interested in the media route I would try CBS Evening News as the first step. They are National and they have a segment on the 6:30 Evening News entitled "Eye on America". A few years back I did an interview for that segment entitled "The War at Home".

Keep in mind that before any reputable journalist or producer takes on a story you need to provide them with concrete proof (not just in words) that there is a problem. Although we are protected under the Constitution of the United States relative to Free Speech and Freedom of the Press...we are ultimately a law suit happy Country. I think to some it is an instant guarenteed lottery!

Your best bet is to start with your Representatives Office. Demand that as a constituent you want your concerns addressed or you will be looking at a new candidate at election time. Remember they work for youyou do not work for them. Your hard earned money pays their salary. My favorite to use "my time is valuable yet I took the time out of my already busy schedule to vote, as my representative can return this in kind by taking the time to address any concerns that I may have".

You may also want to research those Senators that are taking an interest in Immigration Policy, Practices and Procedures......

starting with the Library of Congress....

http://thomas.loc.gov/

http://immigrationfo...amp;topicid=678 FYI

http://www.whitehous...us/immigration/ FYI

http://www.cbsnews.c.../main3420.shtml

On an ending note..it took over four months for our NOA2 but as I have said at the end of the day the material point is regardless of the wait (as hard as it is) we will ultimately be together.

*todays disclaimer....to tired from work to care about any typos wink.gif*

AMEN TO THAT

Yo, what's up? Just found out about this site from another retired military buddy of mine. Sure is some bullshit how the VSC is providing us ####### service. Sure is looking like we will not be having Christmas with our future better halves since it is October now already and hell the way the NOA2s aren't getting from VSC to and out of VSC timely, not to mention the embassy wait for the interview. Unfreakenbelievable!!! I've got to keep it real and not candycoat this. Damn, we had so many plans for Christmas too. Anyway, good luck to ya'll. I see some of you have been waiting longer than me...unreal.

Well, I just booked another trip to England for a million dollars. UGH-VSC is going to make me go bankrupt!!!!! It is worth every penny to see Darren, but geez....if they would only HURR Y UP!!!!!!!!!!

I figure those of us that filed in mid june have about another month to wait for noa2's. So..........I plan to print off more evidence. Create a list of things we need to do as soon as that precious email arrives..plan my next trip for the interview...lose weight...make him cookies and a care package...and think of ways to "persuade" VCS to hustle it up....heheheeh

Ohh, maybe find a cheerleading outfit to match those pink pom pom smiley's....ohh..umm not a sight for anyone to want to see....ughhh... whistling.gif

All good things. I sent off a care package this past Friday: books, magazines, cookies, hershey kisses, etc. I have been trying to lose weight and will continue. Treadmill tonight! Although without Darren around I find myself wanting to eart everything! I also did some research on what I need to put together for the next steps once I get the approval. What I didn't realize is, your fiance will need his police record from EVERYWHERE he lived since he turned 16. I am glad I reread everything this weekend.

Don't you need to show that you can support your fiance for approval? I thought about quitting my job and going to England to wait with him, but thought I couldn't because I needed to have employment. Does anyone know?

If you are not employed you need a co-sponsor who meets the poverty guidelines.

Great, thanks.

Thanks for replying amrssnowangel!!! smile.gif

Nope. If it meant that, then the mass of petitions coming in would be interfiled by date. "Bulk" must have some meaning. Of something that is being processed specially. Not simple quantity.

Well, I thought that the meaning of bulk was like size, mass...about quantity...but if there is another menaing for that...I don´t know...anybody has a dictionary handy????? Hahaha! biggrin.gif

I HAVE NEWS..................

I called the Service Center RFE trick....WOW...she was soo nice and GAVE ME INFORMATION!!!! Can you believe it??

I told her I received an email that "looks" like it was from them asking for passport information and was concerned to verify before sending it. She looked and said it was not from them (really???). I said..ok thanks soo much...then using my past sales skills complimented her on being so nice...obviously this isn't the IRS I was dealing with cause I can't get that good of service from them...she ate it up...soooo I asked:

So, we filed in June and knew you were so fast...what happened? Here is the information I got:

1. They are slowed down from BULK petitions they recieved.
2. They are working to date on May 21 petitions as a general rule
3. Our June 19th NOA1 date should be worked in about a month.

I hope this gives everyone a bit of information to go on...to give you an idea when yours may be approved. She didn't know when they'd be finished with the back log...BUT if she was confindent mine would be worked in about a month...then they aren't expecting it to be caught up soon.... But the main thing is I felt I got information that I could use. And an estimate of what I can expect....Isn't that all we really want???

GOOOOOOOOOO VCS.............GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

FANTASTIC NEWS!!!!!!!!!! Thank you so much for posting this. COME ON VSC!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, when you start throwing around blanket statements like 'it's my right!' and 'it's a free country!' I had to assume you meant the process was your right.

We do have a right to get information and we should have at the very least, adequate service from the system since we do pay for it. That's why I and others have written letters essentially asking "####### is going on?' good.gif

No, you really didn't have to assume anything.

I have also written letters stating the same.

No offense, but I am kinda glad you don't work for USCIS. A privilege?? It is a "free country" so I am told.

Um, yes, it is. It's a 'free country' to its citizens.

Nowhere in any important document (IE: The Constitution, Declaration of Independence) does it say "All foreign nationals have a right to enter our country provided they do it legally".

Immigration, even legal immigration, is a privilege, not a right. Period.

Look around, there are plenty of people who'd be happy if we shut the borders today and not one more foreigner entered the country. I am not one of those people. I believe in the legal process, and if you follow it, and learn the language if you don't already speak it, welcome to America as far as I am concerned.

But if you think that the right to bring foreign nationals into our country is one of those 'inalienable rights' granted to us, you are unfortunately, mistaken.

Please don't misunderstand, I am not trying to cause trouble, I have written letters, and I am trying to get the process going better for all of us. But I believe if anyone goes around calling it "our right" to have our loved ones enter the country through immigration, the government just might laugh at you and tell you it's not. And that's not helpful to anyone.

I agree...its not a foreigners "right" or "privilege" to just waltz into America. However it IS MY RIGHT to file for this and use this service. I AM an American Citizen. I PAY for this service as I pay for my cable, my electric or any other service I need. I dont HAVE to have electric to survive, its a privilege...but its my RIGHT to have it. AND its my right to get answers when I call regarding any service i pay for. THIS is the issue. NOT if its a right or privilege for someone to enter our country. Its our right to voice our issues. But I agree its NOT the privilege or right of a foreigner to just waltz in. But that wasn't even the issue.

I never said it was my fiance's right, but it is MY right. I pay taxes, I paid for this service, etc. It is probably better off I don't discuss this topic.

You may be right...but do you think Adam Walsh made changes over night??? No..he had to get LOUD to be heard. This is an election year coming...one thing for 60% to be against a war..another thing to start making huge media waves in an election year...anyways..no one said change happens overnight...maybe not with Bush..maybe with the next group....not the point...point is we have a right to be heard...to speak...so I say SHOUT IT OUT....be heard..and who knows...MAYBE...just MAYBE change will come.... What do we have to lose by trying?? WE've already lost something very precious...our time with our loved ones...we can't get that back...but we CAN be movers and shakers and make a difference for someone else...TRY..

We start with a dozen today...tomorrow a hundred...Adam Walsh was ONE man..on a mission...if you can believe it, you CAN achieve it....

SOOO LETS GOOOO...

I didn't catch this earlier, but I think your analogy is a bit faulty.

For starters, Adam Walsh's son was violently killed as a child. He lost his son, and will never see him again, at least not in this life.

Adam Walsh was able to campaign to help stop something that will not be going away anytime soon, violent crimes and criminals.

Now...

Us, trying to get heard on a matter of immigration, which is a privilege, not a right, is a little different. We didn't have something taken away from us, we just happened to fall for someone who is of another country.

Am I saying that a lot of us cannot make a difference? No, not really. But to compare our fight to the fight of Adam Walsh...well, it's really not even in the same ballpark IMO.

Besides, what happens if by the time we even mustered enough support for this, and half the people got their NOA2's or visas and stopped caring?

Once the immigration process is over, I'm not sorry to say it, I am not exactly going to worry about anyone else's immigration journey anymore, except maybe Amy's parents if they decide they want to come over, and even then, they aren't the ones I love the way I do her, so it'd just be like, something that was happening.

It's real easy to keep caring about a dead child because there are lots of people who have lost children way too early, and never want to see it happen again.

No offense, but I am kinda glad you don't work for USCIS. A privilege?? It is a "free country" so I am told.

Does anyone have a copy of a letter I can send to the media, not the politicians, i.e. msnbc?

May I suggest sth similar to what we have jointly compiled???

Dear ________________ (call the media find a name to give this),

I belong to a group of people who have filed for K1 visas through the Vermont Service Center. We meet for support and help online through a website. Many of us filed for K1 and K3 petitions as early as April and May and are still waiting for our approvals (NOA2).

There is a growing concern amongst us about the lack of approvals we see coming out of our service center. We understand USCIS has a handling time of 6 months or less allocated to process these petitions. And we understand there are many reasons for delays.

Our issue is that up until May of this year, Vermont was the fastest processor of visas our country had and it has almost come to a complete stop this month. Some petitions were approved in less than TWO WEEKS! It's difficult to see the California Center turn out 30 petitions since September 18th, while Vermont has turned out merely a single approval in almost 10 days within our group.

We understand our group is not a complete representation of what VSC processes but we are an accurate representation. We use real facts from real people to determine about when we can expect our approvals... and it's usually accurate. But its so discouraging to see our dates move further and further away.

Many of us call the service center, but the customer service is appalling, as many operators are either unable or unwilling to provide any information. They can't tell us why the delay or what is being done to fix it... or when we may see a pick up in processing. This is information that would take the director 15 minutes to put into memo form and post on the USCIS website.

We pay for this service, making us a CUSTOMER of our own government. There were, in fact, significant fee increases to this process so that these delays would end, but they have not.

We aren't asking for status of our cases. All we want is some transparency from the agency. We want to know why the petitions are so slow in adjudication (been slowing down more and more since June), what is being done about it, and WHEN can we expect a pick up in results.

If the service being provided by USCIS were being provided by any other American business, they would be readily condemned, and we would have the option of going elsewhere for our requirements. However, we must work through USCIS in order to achieve our desired results, and right now, USCIS is not transparent at all to it customer; the customer service representatives have no answers and we are put on hold with our Senators and elected officials and told they can not interfere. Where ARE we to go for answers? We deserve an answer

Therefore I am asking you to help us make this issue public knowledge, and to use your available means to investigate this story. Human Interest stories generate a great deal of attention from not only the public, but our lawmakers in Washington, DC. We are asking you to help us make a difference in the lives of thousands of petitioners just like me, who are lost in this tangled web of red tape. We ache to be united with our loved ones; the wait is hard enough, but this lack of information is simply unacceptable.

What we request from you, our media representatives is to investigate this very important matter, make the public aware of the pitfalls of immigration. We ask that USCIS be held accountable, and that they provide information to their own customers, United States Citizens who desire nothing more than to share the American Dream with those they love. We want them to answer for these delays and provide us with the service we paid for and need.

I respectfully request your investigation and intervention in this issue and anxiously await a response.

Thank You,

Make sure to include your personal information and send to as many local and country wide media as you can. The collective efforts we have exhibited here to put this letter together is awesome..if anyone else has any thoughts..please share..Its one thing to sit and complain..another to stand up and be heard. I know it may not change anything today..but what about future generations? Our children who may fall in love with a foreign national.... where will this madness end...I encourage you to post these letters and your efforts in other forums and for CSC'ers as well who have undergone delays or inadequate answers...remember..this isn't for status of our PERSONAL petitions..but a start to make a CHANGE....

This is great, however I think we may need to dedicate a paragraph explaining what K1 and K3 visa's are.

I emailed my congressman asking for help...we'll see what happens....its not as professional as US Wendy's was..although I did mail those out to...I wanted a more personal touch as well...asking for INFORMATION:

Dear Senator Webb,

I belong to a group of people who have filed for K1 visas through the Vermont Service Center. We meet for support and help online. Many of us filed for K1 and K3 petitions as early as April and May and are still waiting for our approvals (NOA2). There is a growing concern amongst us about the lack of approvals we see coming out of our service center. We understand USCIS has a handling time of 6 months or less allocated to process these petitions. Our issue is that up until May of this year, Vermont was the fastest processor of visas our country had and it has almost come to a complete stop this month. Its difficult to see the California Center turn out 30 petitions since September 18th, while Vermont has turned out ONE. Yes..ONE. We understand our group is not a complete representation of what VSC processes but we are an ACCURATE representation. We use REAL facts from REAL people to determine about when we can expect our approvals..and its usually accurate. But its so discouraging to see our dates move further and further away. Many of us call the service center, but get RUDE representatives. They can't tell us why the delay or what is being done to fix it..or when we may see a pick up in processing. This is information that would take the director 15 minutes to put into memo form and post on the USCIS website. We pay for this service, making us a CUSTOMER of our own government. We aren't asking for status of our cases. ALL we want, is to know why the petitions are so slow in adjudication (been slowing down more and more since June), what is being done about it, and WHEN can we expect a pick up in results. Therefore I am asking you to make a simple call, or write a simple email to find out this information so we may direct it to those of us who are so discouraged and heavy hearted. We ache to be united with our loved ones, the wait is hard enough, but this lack of information is simply unacceptable. If we were dealing with an American BUSINESS this would be considered unacceptable by anyone of us. We deserve an answer. I respectfully request your intervention in this issue and anxiously await a response.

Thank You,

Registered Voter

Just had to do more...say more....who knows...maybe ONE of us will get an ANSWER that is accurate and straight.... crying.gif wacko.gif blink.gif

Good letter. smile.gif

AWEEEEEEEEEEE coming from you I take that as a great compliment....thanks...

I just sent a copy of this letter to my state Senator and 2 Assemblymen; one of which constantly leaves ####### under my door to read cause "he cares". I guess we will see how much now.

You see my problem is that they dont balance things out....like say...do 5 k1's , do 5 worker visas, 5 student visas..etc....a day...then atleast everything would be balanced....but then again god forbid making the new working "Taxpayers" wait...nah never...make the stupid romantics wait.. mad.gif

Seriously, I want that job. Lets see, I can picture it... sit around at their desks all day, gossiping as they polish off their daily box of doughnuts.... Oh wait, lunchtime.... oooh, 4:00-time to go home!

really what it seems like...i wonder if they have a quota to meet?

Are you kidding? No way. This is a government job.
