Hi Everyone................ It's been a while since I've been on here and man has it changed!!!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO KIWIANA AND HUBBY for St Paddies day...... hasn't the year just flown

Kiwiana didn't you get your drivers license after you applied for the state ID?? I thought the D/L, when you get one, took the place of the state ID, if so would you need to renew it yet?? Just thinking out loud.....lol.

Cdneh it's been ages how's everything going for you? I see you're tossing around the idea of moving to Searcy. It takes a bit to get used to small town life after living in a big city for so long. The town itself is nice enough and the people are very friendly. I was a bit burnt out from the stresses of work and moving and all the rest when I got here, so a year of peace and quiet and a slower pace was very welcome. Now I'm working and have been here nearly 18 months, I find I'm missing a bigger variety of shops mainly, that's about it. But in saying that, Little Rock is only an hour away, probably no different to driving from Pukekohe to Auckland City. And guess what........... there's minimal snow here in winter time.....lol, we had about 3 snowfalls at different times and the most was 8" or so and even then they all said how it was unusual to get that much

Hi to all you newbie's......you're in the best possible place to get help with the craziness that is immigration to the U.S.

Hi Kim....sure is a different looking place :)

We are thinking about the move, my husband has parents there he would like to be closer to..they re 96 and 80 ..I am thinking I would like to work, after a year off I am finding things a bit tedious lol...where are you working at?

Spring...well we have rain, and Michelle was under a tornado warning last night. She is okay, just got a new job and they have moved into their own apartment!

I could do with minimal snow..we were getting nearly 2 feet every time it stormed last year :)

Hi everyone!!
I have a quick question and wondered if anyone could help me here (before posting on the main forums). When i first came to USA, i applied for a californian state ID.. Then months later i got my GC. Anyway, I got a letter from DMV and they said that my state ID is going to expire soon and to renew it for a limited term extension, i have to send them a photocopy of my legal presence document.

Now do i HAVE to renew the state ID? Or do i not need it. now that i have my GC? Will anything happen if i don't renew it?

Now that's a question I have never seen! Is it possible to email the DMV there? I sent them an email here locally and they did get back to me in a few days.

Did you need to get forms needed for the medical before, and take them in with you, or were they able to give them to you when you went for the medical? I've tried to find copies of them online but haven't had any luck so far.

I got the forms from packet three. I had been in conversation with the people at the consulate in Auckland for a while. I emailed them, which they are quick to answer btw, to ask initially about my police certificate from Canada. I am Canadian, and at the time was a permanent NZ resident, so I had to apply for a police clearance from Canada. It took months to come, and as they always say that sort of thing is only good for a year I got worried when we got stuck at NVC that it would expire before the interview came around.

I emailed them a few times while we were stuck at NVC as well. K1's are not usually held up there, and even they were surprised at the length of time we were in limbo. My SO here in the States was in the habit of calling them once or twice a day to see how we were going, and as soon as they said we had been sent on to AKL I emailed them in Auckland. ( Oh happy day :))

They answered my email to say they had the E copy, and based on my having the AKL number (which we got from NVC on the phone) they were happy to send packet three out to me. I rang Dr Stone's office and made an appointment and got it over with. I know Dr Stone used a different bit of paper for the shots record, from memory, but the AKL number has to be on everything, so you would need that in advance.

I was all about lining up ducks at the time, so as to avoid any further delay. I didn't have immunization records either, so had the titre test and the only shot I needed was tetanus, so I had that done in advance of the medical. I had all the bits returned to the consulate and was ready to go as soon as I was able to get an appointment.

We arrived at NVC in early November, and we were shooting for Christmas together that year. As it was, I didn't arrive here until March :(

Congrats Kiwiana :) Glad to hear you found a job and it;s working out so well!

My gosh this place looks SO different this week...having had a heck of a time to even find out if I am logged in LOL

Searcy...well it seemed okay while we were there for the wedding...and his parents are there. Not like they would be on the doorstep all the time, he is 96 and she is 80 this year. It would be a big change though where we are..big city to small town. And I hear Kim on the heat :)

Hey,

I'm making my way throught the NVC, but was wondering if any of you guys knew the deal with the medicals in Auckland. Is there any way of going and getting the medical out of the way now, even though my case is still with the NVC and hasn't been sent off to the consulate, or is it better just to wait?

Also to those that have gone throught the CR1 process through Auckland, how long after the approval at the NVC was the interview scheduled for?

Thanks

Hello:)
I got held up at NVC on AP for over 7 weeks. I went ahead based on having the AKL number from NVC and had the medical well before I was even out of NVC. You will be able to see by my timeline below the story :)

May 18th? That's ages away! I guess ours was about 3 weeks out when we were told of it... I'm afraid I don't have any answers about the likelihood of getting it moved up, but it's worth a try. In our experience, the consulate is really good about answering email promptly (i.e. same or next day). Good luck!
Our news is that Ewan was APPROVED ( ) for the K1 yesterday! He said that the interview was a breeze (so don't worry, gwdenton!) and the CO told him to expect the visa by Saturday! We're hoping for him to arrive early next week! Wahoo!

WOO HOO!! Congratulations!!!:dancing::dance::dancing: Not long before you will be in each others arms again!!:)

Also, if your maiden name is used in NZ passport and married name is on the GC, what surname do you put on the airline ticket? Do you show your NZ passport when leaving USA airport to go to NZ? And then do you use your NZ passport when entering and leaving NZ? Then on your return to USA airport, you show your GC?

Kelvan: I'm not sure what you have to take with you when going back home for visit to NZ.But I would assume you only need your GC to be able to enter USA again?! plus, I wonder what line you line up in when you arrive back at USA airport?? I would assume you would stand in the US citizens line? If anyone can fill in the answers, that would be great!! As it is very vital information to know! :)

When i went for my medical with the forms the consulate had sent me.. Dr Stone told me that they had given me the wrong form and he had the right one there at his office to use. You do need a case number to write down for the medical. I think it is called #ack (for auckland i'm guessing).

You could email the embassy at Auckland if you have any questions as they are really good and FAST to respond. I think most of us here that have emailed the consulate have had speedy replies and they are VERY helpful!!

Hello all!
I'm expecting our NOA2 any day now, and I just have one quick question for those of you who've gone through the K-1 process. What can Ewan, the kiwi fiance, do now to make everything go quicker from here? He's convinced he can't get his police report without something official from the embassy; is that true? If not, what does he need to do to get it?
Thanks so much for your help!
Megan

Once the NOA2 arrives, the process usually goes by pretty fast! :star: Generally, you have to wait for the package from the embassy to arrive to fill in the form that allows them to do a nz police report. But if your SO has lived in another country for more than a year,(they may have changed it to 6 months or more now.. not sure) then he will have to get a police report from that country as well. The ones from overseas can take a few weeks so it would pay to get them now while waiting for the NOA2.

Obviously, each interview is different, depending on what the interviewing folks at the embassy ask for as evidence. But generally he will have to show an I-134 from you, your recent pay stubs, letter from your employer.
At my interview, i had to show my bank account with my funds in it, birth certificate, divorce certificate, evidence of our earlier meetings and our latest meetings like phone call bills, photos, hotel receipts etc.

That's all i can think of at the moment off the top of my head :) Hopefully others here will be able to tell you more, if i have forgotten anything.

At the moment, it seems like the process has stood still with the waiting, waiting for the NOA2 but once it comes, It is generally full steam ahead!! and you find that before you know it. It is time for the interview!! ;)

Hey everyone,

By the looks of it most of you went the K1 way, but I was wondering if anyone knew what I need to be sending to my wife for the NVC stage. We're still at USCIS, so the petition is probably still at least a month away from reaching the NVC, but I wanted to get everything ready and sent to her early so that there's no hold up when it finally gets there.

From what I understand Auckland is one of the Appointment Post NVC Processing countries, and I need to send a copy of my Birth Certificate, and Police records, but should I be sending her anything else?

Thanks
