Hello Everybody
Has anybody applied for Police Clearance from CID, Mumbai. Need to know how much time and format of the certificate?
Thanks

"Jigi" one of the VJ members had applied for ploice certificate in Mumbai. I would send him a personal message.

Hey did you guys have to show interview letter to the local police station or regional passport office to start the clearance certificate paperwork? I was told they need to see this in mumbai local police stations before they get the paperwork started. Is there an alternate document one can show to substitute this interview letter document? Can anyone verify?

How is the medical process? If one cannot get their immunization records. Can they just simply pay for the whole check up needed by the authorized medical panel and complete all the medical check ups in one day?

Thanks!!!

For PCC - I emailed scanned copy of NVC letter, covering letter and a document about NVC appointment processing. you have to inform police department that there is a process change and you need to mail the pcc to NVC through ur spouse. it worked for us, we got it same day from commisioner's office. from regional passport office with 10 days, my spouse had submit her original passport.

Medical you need appoitnment letter....rest don't whether it could done in same day.

cheers

My wife (from Ahmedabad) got her police clearance certificate from police commissioner's office for which she had to provide a passport photo and show her passport. Process starts from your local police station.

After getting her police clearance certificate from police department. She applied for police clearance certificate from regional passport office. Where she had to submit her original passport and there is a fee involved. Regional passport office would mail the original passport and certificate within 10 days. Also, she submitted in person.

In both cases you have mention that you seeking this certificate for us immigration visa.

Hope this helps...

First, tell her to call the Chennai Embassy and explain them your situation and also ask for the case number. Also call AOS and ask them about your case number.
Second, tell her to go to the Passport Office with the interview letter and tell them that she needs the passport for the interview. And that she can't attend the interview without the passport. They don't have a choice but to speed up the process and give her passport back.
Worse case scenario, which I'm praying will not happen, she might have to reschedule the interview because she doesn't have her Passport Clearance yet.
My personal opinion, if for some reason she can't get the passport back on time from the Passport office, tell her to call the embassy or email them and ask them for a future interview date instead of going without the original passport. But as always, you can ask the Embassy if they would allow her to attend the interview.
Good luck with everything.

Hi Isitasham,
According to your situation, my personal opinion is that you should be present at the time of interview even though they won't allow you to go in with your wife in the interview. Like others said, give your passport to your wife so she can show them that you are here to support her, which also helps with bona fide relationship.
Since you need to get married within 90 days of her arrival, you can go there early and make plans for the wedding and stuff, and she can show that stuff at the time of interview.
I wanted to be there with my wife on the interview day but I wasn't able to due to my work condition. I wish I could go. But you should definately be there with your wife. That just shows the support and care for your wife. It is totally worth. If I were you, I would go. I would say talk to your wife. Get her opinion. See what she has to say. That's just me. :)

 Wishing you the bestest of luck with the interview process and everything

In Packet 3 for K-1 visa they will send you:
1. DS-230 Part I (Send 2 pages back to Consulate immediately)
2. Checklist/Applicant Statement (Send back to Consulate immediately)
3. I-134 (Take to interview)
4. Passport photos instructions (Take to interview)
5. Instruction package for visa facilitation office (To prepare for interview)

Check the following web-site for the above forms: http://mumbai.uscons...ov/ivforms.html

What to submit with K-1 Packet 3:

1. Checklist (Page 4 only) - http://mumbai.uscons...k1_packet_3.pdf
2. DS-230 Part I (2 pages) - http://www.state.gov...ation/81807.pdf
3. DS-2001 (1 page) - http://mumbai.uscons...xFQ/DS_2001.pdf - DS-2001 is not required but good to send just in case

It is also recommended to add one page cover letter when submitting these documents, stating your contact information, case number, and that you are applying for K-1.

In packet 4 for K-1 visa they will send you:
DS-156
DS-156K
Appointment Letter
Police certification (http://mumbai.uscons...rtificates.html)
Medical Instructions
The medical instructions in Packet 4 can be found on the following site, but you need the Appt letter from the consulate to get the medical done.
http://mumbai.uscons...amination2.html

Packet 4 is actually mailed out in an efficient manner when they have scheduled your interview date, so there is no need to pick it up at the consulate. If you do pick up Packet 4 at eh consulate, a consulate employee will move anyone with an interview date to the head of the line so they can pick up their paperwork.

**K3 - They are asking for both support forms for us I 134 and I 864

I got this information from: http://www.visajourn...ndia&cty=Mumbai

Post all your questions regarding K1 Visa in the forum "K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures". That way you can get your questions answers appropriately and correctly.

Hope this informations helps.

Asia: SouthSubmission of documents to VFS before the interview? Or ok to submit on date of inteview?

Chennai website for Packet IV says one has to submit documents atleast 10days before the interview date to VFS. It also says one has to atleast pay the courier fee even though documents could be submitted right at the time of interview .

The problem for us is that my wife is atleast 12hrs away from the nearest VFS office and we have an infant child. So it is hard for her to go with all the original documents to submit to VFS office 10 days prior to the interview. I mean we will do it if we have to and do not have an option, but I am not sure about the wording on Packet 4 (information to appicants on Chennai website) as it says we can even submit on the day of the interview. So if it is optional we would just like to give them on the day of interview instead of making a trip to VFS office 10 days prior to our appointment.

Can anyone who has finished their Interview in any of Indian consulates , tell me on their experiences and let us know if it is required or if it is optional to submit all original documents to VFS? Could you also let me know if the applicant has to be present when paying the courier fee or if we can have someone else with our permission pay that VFS fees so we can avoid the travel to the VFS office.

Regards.

I highly recommend you turn them all in to the VFS early. I know it's difficult, however they want that information early so they have time to review it. If they don't have time to review it they could feel like you have information to hide. You want to give yourself the best chances possible, not give them a reason to delay your case. Maybe your wife could find a cousin or friend who could go with her to help care for the baby. She could treat it like a little mini vacation and if possible you can give her a little shopping money to buy something cute for herself and the baby. Set it out to be an adventure. Get her a motel room there if you have to, take some of the burden off the trip.

Ok, first everyone Sorry, if I have'nt responded to you, just been totally out of the loop...

So, today my wife received her passport back! Finally! Last Monday, the police came for the inquiry. Then, a few days later she went and got the reciept from the police and took it to the pasport office, they said they'll dispatch it, and it's ready.

These Jacka**es, actually had the nerve to send a letter last week dated January 22, 2010 stating they won't be able to get the pcc in the normal 15 days. The postmark on the letter was Feb. 24th!!!!!

Oh well, she has it now. Just emailed the consulate requesting a interview date. So hopefully everything will go well there..

Ok, this is taking to damn long... the police situation is totally f'd up there. The passport office is totally F'd UP there too. SO FRIGGIN P.O'd.

Does anyone know anyone in HYD who can get the process moving faster... Please PM me...I'm so damn frustrated, I'm here she's there in Hyd, and I can't help from here... I dont care if I have to run around all day all night to figure this ####### shoot out, but I just want her to get this damn pcc already. I mean wth, she was born and raised in hyd, never broke any law, so why the hell is this damn pcc so damn hard to issue. They've already done two damn police inquiries (1 in July for the passport issuance, and another for the hyderabad district level pcc). And those RPO a-holes are inconsiderate and rude to anyone and everyone... SO #######!!

Also, the agents cant do anything because they have nothing to do with the PCC, it's a "Self" thing...

ok, now im done venting, and thank you for listening to my vent... but seriously, any ideas on what i can do?

On a bright note, the Chennai Consulate was understanding and said to just let them know when she gets the Passport Clearance Certificate and they will re-schedule her at that time.

Thanks Everyone for you input... My wife and I called the consulate yesterday (3-Way Calling), and they stated you can't gain entry into the building without a passport, so just re-schedule if you don't have it in time. My wife also went to the passport office yesterday with the interview letter, train reservations to chennai, they refused to give her the passport back with or without the clearance and told her she has to wait. p.o.'d. I was told that the clearance was done and they will dispatch it today, which means if they use speedpost, it should take a day to get to her. So, If she get's it before 4p tomorrow, she will be on the train to Chennai, if she gets it Thursday morning, she will be on a plane to chennai...

Otherwise, it's re-schedule...

Thanks everyone!

As sachinky said, I would email the Chennai Consulate giving your case number details and asking them to confirm your interview date and time.

Then, I would go in person to the Hyderabad passport office with the interview letter, requesting them to expedite the process and give your passport back (perhaps with the encouragement of a "fee"?).

If you don't get the passport back, I guess I would try going in to the interview with just a passport copy. Did you get a paper from the passport office saying they have your passport? You could show that, too.

Good Luck!

Thanks, Emailing the Consulate for Interview Appointment verification, done yesterday, they did'nt email back so I called them... it turns out MLK Holiday today and consulate closed... As for the PCC that's a good Idea, I'll ask her to make that trip tomorrow... Yes, she has the reciept from turning the passport in with a file no. that allows us to check the status online.

Asia: SouthFrustrated - K3 Interview this Friday, and still no Passport Clearance!
So, my wife received her Police Clearance Certificate and she applied for the Passport Clearance since her passport is 6 months + a few days old. She was a Tatkal applicant and now that she is trying to receive the Passport Clearance in Hyderabad. The online status enquiry states "Police Report Not Recieved" for her application. This is frustrating cause she needs to leave Hyderabad and head to chennai on Wednesday and we don't even know if she can go. Her interview is on the 22nd of Jan.

So my question is,
Can she attend the interview without her passport, but with a Xerox copy of all pages in Passport? I know she won't get the visa but atleast she can have the interview and just come back with the passport as soon as the passport office gives it back to her with the clearance in it...

And,
She has an interview letter for Chennai on january 22, 2010 at 9:00 AM.. However, on Chennai's website's appointment schedule we dont see her case number anywhere...

This is getting quite frustrating!

Someone please help or advise.

Thanks

My fiancee has received her interview date end of this month at New Delhi. Ours is a second-time (refiled) K-1 petition. The first K-1 was refused last year (after being in AP for several months) as the CO was not convinced about our relationship. Since then I had visited India and spent several weeks with my fiancee and her family. We have addressed and made up for any deficiencies that may have been there in our first petition -- our refiled I-129F petition was over 3.5 pounds with tons of photos and documents, bills, affidavits etc. etc.

My question is:
Since New Delhi is a high risk (high fraud) consulate, I had emailed the embassy about my willingness to travel to Delhi and be present for the interview along with the beneficiary. Their reply says that due to a large volume of visa applications they receive, they will not be able to meet with any one else other than the beneficiary.
What should I do?
Many have suggested the importance of being there for the interview with your beneficiary especially at New Delhi consulate, but how does it help if they do not let me in or don't talk to me.
Any suggestions please?

I went to my wife's interview in India about 2 weeks back. I was stopped at the gate of the consulate and was not allowed in. They just let in my wife and said I cannot go in with her. That was in Chennai. So basically make sure with the embassy that they will let you in before making any travel plans . They did let me go into the waiting area of the consulate that was on the other end of the building that was a few blocks away. I do understand their point of view since there were a lot of people queued up at the embassy and I can understand them letting only the beneficiary cuz of the high volume of visa applications ( The line my wife had to go through outside also had other visa applicants like H-4, H1, Tourist etc).

I say do it, because it gives the consulate some additional time to review the documents.

Hello All,

I just wanted to share our experience with submitting documents to VFS in India. We were not able to get the passport for my daughter until 4 days before the interview. So we couldnt submit any documents to VFS due to lack of passport for my daughter. Further nearest VFS was 800kms away from where we live. All we did was pay the VFS fees 2 days before the interview. We did not submit a single document to VFS eventhough the packet 3 we got from consulate said we had to do it before 10 days. However we did not have any problem at the interview when we submitted all the documents.

Just wanted to share this everyone in the group so in case you have a problem like ours in submitting of documents you still may not have a problem at the consulate allthough you should submit if it is something you can do easily.

Regards.

Asia: SouthChennai packet 3 and 4 combined?

I have heard people say that Chennai embassy sends K1 packet3 and 4 combined, but seems like outdated information. can anybody who went through recently through Chennai confirm and explain how the process is different from separate packets? Thank you.

For K3 about a week to two weeks after embassy receives the papers from NVC they will send out a combined packet that has all the forms including the interview date. We just had to fill those and go directly to the embassy on our interview date. We did ours about a month back. Hope this helps. Also Chennai consulate has very friendly staff and if you call them they will help clear any questions. We had called them on phone a few times and they were very helpful on the phone.

Asia: SouthApril Interviews

Dear All,

I've received a call for the K1 interview at the Chennai Embassy on April 27th 9.00 am. I'm not sure if all my paper work will be in order by then, But encouraged by what I read here, I'm going to either submit only the ones that are ready before 10 working days and take the rest to the interview or submit it all together a lil' later at VFS. Any idea on which is a better approach?
And if there are any more April interviews lined up for VJers, do pour in.

Sowmya

If your docs are not ready to submit it to VFS then you dont have to stress over it. We did not submit anything to the VFS except paying the money for courier charges. We paid the courier charges two days before the interview and got our medical done 3 days before the interview. We submitted everything in person at the Chennai consulate and they did not say anything. In my opinion you should try to submit if you can but if there is something that prevents you from not submitting at VFS dont stress too much about that.
