Asia: SouthPacket 3/4 question
We are going to send it to the address that Parul had posted on here, I think Dilbert also posted it:

U.S. Consulate General,
Immigrant Visa Section
Shantipath, Chanakyapuri
Chanakyapuri, New Delhi, Delhi (state) 110021, India

He will be sending it via DHL so we can track it and he's going to send it overnight because the faster we can find out about our interview date the faster I can book tickets to come there for it. He'll be mailing it out first thing tomorrow morning and hopefully we can call mid next week for an interview date.

Thank you to all of you for all your information. It's nice to have people that are going through this same process that can guide eachother!

Asia: SouthPacket 3/4 question
Hi Classic,
I had asked about the engagement ceremony letter because over the past few months there have been some 221g's coming out of New Delhi and part of the reason was because there were no Engagement Ceremony pictures, basically because there was no Engagement Ceremony at all! They were still asking for them though so I was worried because we didn't have a ceremony (my family couldn't travel there for various reasons). Parul had suggested that we write a letter explaining why we didn't have a ceremony. If you had a ceremony I wouldn't worry about the letter.

Also, can you guys tell me what I need to call the DOS for? Which number am I trying to get from them?

One last thing, I had asked my lawyer about the applicant's statement and he said to just copy it from the website into a word document, print it and have your SO sign it and turn it in with the DS230 Part 1.

Hi Parul,
I just wanted to say thank you for all of the information you've been providing. My finace and I are also going through new Delhi and are at the 3/4 packet stage and reading all of your responses has been so helpful! I am going to join him for the interview (waiting on a date) and even though I've been to India 6 times in the last 2 years and we have tons of relationship proof I am still so worried about the interview...we didn't have an engagement ceremony and it seems that they are being quite unreasonable about that these days! Do you have any suggestions for either my fiance or I when it comes interview time?

guys, quick question, I called NVC this morning and put in my reciept number in the automated thing and it said that they didnt even recieve my file yet, I was approved back on Jan 26th!! Did anyone else have this problem? They dont open for another 5 mins, so I will call and try to speak to one of the people a little later, hopefully the automated system is not correct...

Harsh - don't believe @NVC K1 status can be obtained via the automated system (think I have also seen a VJ post on it). You need to talk to a live rep. Also, it can take a few days (at least a week if not more) before it shows up on NVC systems (mail time from USCIS and NVC to scan into their system and generate a case BMB number). In my case, it took well over a week before NVC confirmed receipt/gave me a case number. Don't worry, things move pretty fast from this point on.

On a different but related note guys, my fiancee just called. My packet 4 arrived in the mail today !!! good.gif
Just keeping you guys posted...
Cheers,

Asia: SouthPacket 3/4 question
I will post my seq of events again to help folks here. Keep in mind, my case went to the Mumbai Consulate not Delhi. Not sure if they are equally (in) efficient and follow similar procedure/timelines.

My packet left NVC Jan 6. Mumbai Consulate recd it electronically on Jan 8 (hard copy recd on Jan 10 - guessing this date from DHL tracking info). I was informed by DOS that Pkt 3 was sent Jan 8 itself. I had called a couple to times to confirm that it was indeed sent. I wanted to make sure that if and when I sent pkt 3 myself, they would know who I was. In any case, I gave it a few days and waited. Did not do anything till Jan 19, the day I decided to overnight my pkt 3. They received it on Jan 20 (courier tracking). Incidentally, that was the day, i.e., Jan 20, the consulate mailed my pkt 3, which I received on Jan 24 (Saturday). The letter in the packet was indeed dated Jan 8, but the pkt was not mailed till Jan 20. In any case, I called DOS on Jan 22 to check if pkt 3 was received in their system. I was told it was in Adm processing (I asked what that meant and the rather rude rep hung up before I even finished speaking). This call had only lasted a few secs. I gave my case number and she looked up and said it was in AP and simply hung up. In any case, I was going to wait for a couple of days before I called back. Realizing Jan 26 was a holiday, I decided to not wait till Jan 27 and gave them a call on 1/23 and lo and behold, they gave me my interview date. So, in 1 day, it went from AP to here's your interview date.

Karri - my guess is that they have recd it (based on your DHL tracking you posted) just not entered into their system (since that is what DOS has access to).

Dilbert - in your case, my suggestion would be to get confirmation that it was mailed in their system (when it actually is mailed should not matter). So, I would mail pkt 3 without waiting to receive it but after confirming that it has been sent. Clearly, they are not going to give you an interview date, if they have not even sent your pkt 3 or received a copy from you. The interview date would only be set after they receive pkt 3 would be my guess. AP in your case could mean that they are in the process of sending pkt 3 out to you.
Gagan - think this would apply to you as well.

As far as interviews go, I think they schedule them by the 15th of the prior month. So, if you want an interview sometime in March, as long as they get your pkt 3 before Feb 15 you are fine. After 15th, you would get April. In my case, if I had sent it before Jan 15, I probably would have had an interview by end of Feb. By I was close enough to Jan 15 is why I got early March.

Good luck guys.

Moksha - you can call DOS and find out things like.. is your file at the Consulate, has pkt 3 been sent, has pkt 4 been sent, has interview date been set. Off course, you would need your case number.
Ideally, you should get any info on your case from the Consulate, but.. getting them to respond is like pulling your teeth and hair.. you get the idea...In my case, I had not even recd my pkt 3 from Mumbai, but already know my interview date (I sent my pkt 3 instead of waiting to get one from the Consulate). They schedule your interview date after they receive pkt 3, but won't mail pkt 4/appt letter till maybe two weeks later. But by calling DOS, you can find out well before that....

See we had an engagement ceremony among family. However, since it was a south Indian style with traditional dress etc...I am a little bit worried whether we need to show the pics. It can easily mistook. Please advise. What sort of letter do we need?

Dilbert... I sent you an email on your gmail account on how to track on dhl and how to call DOS to find out your info on your case number.
DOS tel no. is 202-663-1225. Try the following options in this seq (1x4x2x3x0), it will save you some time to listen to the automated options. You will get there in secs. Need your case number for them to look your case up. They will ask for the applicant (not petitioner) name before they release any info.

What letter are you talking about here by the way ?

We had an engagement ceremony, too. I just wore a tie and a sports jacket. But the floral arrangements behind our chairs made it look a bit formal. In fact, I did send some pics with my petition. It did not create any issues. I have asked my fiancee to take the engagement pics to the interview. If asked, your fiancee can explain.

I fedexed my Affidavit of Support package to my fiancee today and also bought her plane tickets to Mumbai from Kolkata for the interview. Moving along slowly but surely...

Oh boy, I missed the Kolkata part. THe good thing is once she gets the appointment letter, scheduling the medical will only take a day or 2 and she will be done in one day. She will be able to collect her report after 1-2 days too. So there is still hope. Also Like I said, she just needs to mark her attendance at the VFS and submit the fee so no harm done if she doesn't hv her medical either. Good luck to you both. Are you planning to be there during the interview?

I have asked my fiancee to call the authorized Kolkata physicians to see it they would make an exception and also the VFS office to find out when she needs to drop things off there. At the VFS office, she submits the packet 4 list in the order it is listed. What about proof of ongoing relationsip, pictures etc,.. I take it you would take those yourself to the interview including originals of whatever docs are submitted at the VFS Kolkata office. Is that correct ?
What about the Affidavit of Support form. Does that also need to be dropped off at the VFS office ?

I am not planning to be there for the interview. Do you think that helps? I have read they don't let you in and even if they do, you can't really go up to the counter with her when she is interviewing.
I would like to but I just came back from India towards the end of December. I can't turnaround and leave in <2 mos. I will go soon after the interview to pick her up and bring her back with me. Unfortunately, can't take time off without risking my job (this is not the time to be looking for a job).

1. She can collect her packet 4 from the Consulate just like she collected Pkt 3.
2. You will need the Appointment letter to schedule the medical hence - Just go and collect it from the window.
My fiancee is based in Kolkata. Don't really have the option to go to the Consulate to pick up the appt letter. Wonder if I can ask them to fax it to me. Although, getting them to respond to emails/phone calls.. the chances there we all know are zippo, zilch, nada.....
3. The important thing is to make sure you go to the VFS and submit whatever you have and submit the fees. I did not have my PCC from the Police station till a day before the interview. There's Another one who did not have any documents but she just submitted the fees and took all the documents to the interview. Its ok to not hv a document to submit at the VFS as long as its documented and the VFS gets the courier fees.

That is good to know that I can submit whatever docs I have by then. Phew !!! That definitely puts my mind to ease. Thanks for sharing that. All the best in your praparation. Ask me if you have any other questions.

Thanks. I will reach out as I move further along. Just worried about getting all ducks in a row in time. Need to tell my fiancee that the interview process is admittedly nerve racking, but be confident and remember to breathe and utter 'serenity now' every now and then. Just need to put our heads down and stay focussed. The moment of truth is just around the corner...Can't wait to tell her.. Go break a leg honey as she goes for the interview......

Thanks Parul. Your note helped calm my fears a lot. Much appreciated.

Asia: SouthPacket 3/4 question
Tell me about it. In fact, my fiancee received packet 3 today. The letter enclosed in the packet was dated Jan 8 (the date DOS told me packet 3 was sent), but it was not mailed till Jan 20. What's funny is that I had sent my packet 3 and they had received it the same day that they mailed P3. Go figure.
DOS now told me that pkt 4 was sent. Don't know the date, but they may physically mail it out much later (going by my pkt 3 exp). I am not worried about the getting pkt 4 as much as the fact that I need the appt. letter to do the medical.
Parul - can you confirm if that is true. Or Can I go schedule it with some other document. Now that I think about it, I need to send my documents to VFS Kolkata at least 15 WORKING days before my interview. I am not sure if I will be able to meet that deadline. Based on my interview date, I would have to have everything ready, INCLUDING medical, by Feb 9. I don't even know if I can get packet 4 by then. I am really gonna have to get creative on how to go about this:unsure:

<< Packet 4, K1 from Mumbai Consulate Webpage >>>>
BEFORE COMING FOR YOUR VISA INTERVIEW THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS SHOULD BE PRESENTED AT YOUR NEAREST VFS OFFICE (A LIST OF OFFICES IS ENCLOSED). VFS WILL GIVE YOU A RECEIPT FOR ALL DOCUMENTS LEFT WITH IT. AT THE TIME YOU PRESENT YOUR DOCUMENTS YOU MUST ALSO PAY A COURIER FEE OF Rs. 365/-.
ALL DOCUMENTS MUST BE PRESENTED AT YOUR NEAREST VFS OFFICE (SEE ATTACHED SHEET) NO EARLIER THAN TEN (10) WORKING DAYS AND NO LESS THAN SEVEN (7) DAYS PRIOR TO YOUR INTERVIEW. FAILURE TO SUBMIT YOUR DOCUMENTS BY TEN WORKING DAYS PRIOR TO YOUR APPOINTMENT MAY RESULT IN LOSS OF YOUR INTERVIEW DATE.
EXCEPTION: Applicants submitting documents to VFS Kolkata should do so FIFTEEN (15) WORKING DAYS PRIOR TO THE INTERVIEW.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>...

Dilbert - Sorry to hear about your experience. My fiancee got the PCC from the regional PPO. It took about a week. I believe they kept her PP and mailed it to her. She did use an agent. However, for the PCC from the District PS, she had to go in person (did not need to drop off her passport for this). I am still waiting for that. The Local PS guys came in for verification and said everything was fine and that she would need to go after a week to the District PS to collect her PCC. However, she got a call from the District PS now and they said that they also need to come to her house for the verification. That happened today. They said that the Main PS that has control over all the District PS's needs to do its verfication also. So, I am not sure what the process is at this point.

In your case, I would think you would need the District PS clearance from B'bay and Delhi (since your fiancee has lived in each of those places) and as for the PCC from the Regional Passport Office. I would guess that would be Delhi, since they issued her PP. Again, I don't know for sure, I am only trying to rationalize here. Don't know if you can find someone on VJ, where the applicant has lived in two different cities in India.

Karri/Parul/Dilbert - My packet 3 update. I went ahead and mailed my packet 3 today. It should be there Tuesday. I should be able to track it. You are cutting it too close right now. The possibility of her getting an interview date by mid feb is slim and if she did, what are the chances she will get the visa in hand in time. Tell her to call the Consulate, they will tell her if her case is there or not. The Consulate receives the case electronically before they get the DHL package so she probably will be able to collect pkt 3.
Still don't count on her travelling to the US with you coz its too close. Not discouraging you but you don't want to end up buying tickets etc and wasting all the money and also being disappointed. All the best.

Dilbert - I agree with Parul. I would not send it till you have confirmation that they have received it. You don't lose anything really except that it may be lost in the 'abyss' there and not find home. You can always resend. But they do receive it electronically. In my case, it left NVC on Jan 6 (it arrived at the consulate on jan 10 I think ..dhl tracking info). NVC's letter to me was dated Jan 7. I am guessing, they sent the case electronically on Jan 8 (that would be instantaneous) as I was told by the DOS that the Mumbai consulate received it electronically on Jan 8 and mailed packet 3 that day itself. My fiancee has not seen the likes of it yet. As I told Karri, based on what I know, I have decided to mail my packet 3 on Monday. Keeping my fingers crossed. Wish me luck.

My NOA2 was Dec 28 that should give you some idea about timelines. My suggestion would be to call DOS Jan 22/23 and find out if Consulate has received it and whether pkt 3 was mailed. Good luck

Boy, I am tapped out. I am going to shut down and go do my quick 5K at the gym and pump some iron. I know I need to get away from my computer yes.gif

Is there anyone that submitted packet 3 to New Delhi without waiting for it to arrive in the mail? How did you handle the checklist since there are no boxes to check on the form online?

Karri - when I called DOS, I was told they received my file electronically on Jan 8 and that is when Pkt 3 was mailed, but my fiancee has not seen it yet. I have decided to mail it on Monday anyways, given it is at the embassy.
we printed the checklist as it is not a write-able pdf on the Mumbai website. On Delhi Consulate's website, I believe is a page not a separate document that can be printed.

I do have a Question. Are you checking ALL items. Specifically, what about
1. MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE: Applicant, my fiancee, has never been married before. I was, but it refers to the applicant. Should she still check that ?
2. TERMINATION of PREVIOUS MARRIAGE: Again refers to the applicant. She has never been married. I was and have a divorce decree (which she has and I had submitted on my K1 petition with the USCIS) ?
Should she check that as well. I have read that you should check everything or they make you. The checklist is just an acknowledgement that I am aware you ask for all these documents (which would apply to me needless to say) to be brought to the interview

By the way, has anyone seen the Notification of Applicant Readiness form, DS 2001. I have not seen anybody mention that as part of packet 3 or 4. Does that need to be sent in with packet 3 ? Does it hurt if we do ?

Parul/Dilbert/others.. your thoughts/input ?

Thx

Dilbert - sorry for the confusion. All I was referring to was that you can call DOS and get the information that you can get from the Consulate (except that it may be next to impossible to get anything from the consulate). For instance, they can tell you if packet 3 has been mailed to you, whether it has been received if you have mailed it back, etc. etc.

Parul/Karri/Dilbert/CJVasani/Siyaram/others - I was looking at DS 156 and had the following questions. Hoping you guys can shed some light..

Here goes
Q14. National Identification Number --- My fiancee has an Election Commission of India ID Card and also, something called the PAN card (Permanent Account Number). What did you put there ?

Q22. When Do You Intend to Arrive in the US ?
I am assuming you don't know as it depends on the outcome of the interview. So, leave it BLANK ?

Q28. Who Will Pay for your Trip ?
I plan to go down and bring her here and pay for both of us. Should she say Herself or Myself and Fiance. If my fiancee says, she will pay... will they ask for proof ? Again, she will not have bought the ticket at this point.

Q32 Do you intend to work in the US ? Do you say Yes or No ? Example form on VJ says Yes and with work authorization, employer unknown.
I am trying to tie this question to #22 on DS 230, which says to list your employment history and then at the bottom asks In what occupation do you intend to work in the US ( I put N/A there).

Last but not the least,
Q34. Names and Relationships of Persons Traveling with you ? Example form says NONE. But I plan to go down after her interview to bring her back here. Should she then say, my name/fiance, right ?

Sorry, for the long list of questions. Appreciate any help/input you can provide.
Thanks

Sorry I haven't gotten to that form yet, Currently working on packet 3 requirements and trying to figure out what I need to bring over his family for the wedding, I'm buried alive in paperwork!

Ok, if the pkt has been mailed to you, you can still go collect another one, there is nothing official in the packet.

N/A for Indians.

Q22. When Do You Intend to Arrive in the US ?
I am assuming you don't know as it depends on the outcome of the interview. So, leave it BLANK ?
Put 1st week of march etc, whatever you think it will be, it does not need to be a specific date.

I could probably put a date sometime after the interview date, since I will know that before my fiancee takes this form to the interview.

Q28. Who Will Pay for your Trip ?
I plan to go down and bring her here and pay for both of us. Should she say Herself or Myself and Fiance. If my fiancee says, she will pay... will they ask for proof ? Again, she will not have bought the ticket at this point.
No they will not ask for proof whether she says she will pay or whether you pay.
I had someone suggest to me that I should say I will pay as it shows more proof that I will fully support her (since I am submitting the Affidavit of Support form, anyways. Know what I mean. On the flip side, if she says herself, she is indicating that she is self sufficient/is gainfully employed and is marrying for love and not money..

Put what the example form says. N/A is fine

I am thinking saying NO. As the (immediate) purpose to go there is Marriage and Relocate to US not to go work there (I am looking at Q27 on DS 156). Granted she will work down the road but the reason/intention for visa application is to go there to marry within 90 days and stay permanently, right.

Last but not the least,
Q34. Names and Relationships of Persons Traveling with you ? Example form says NONE. But I plan to go down after her interview to bring her back here. Should she then say, my name/fiance, right ?
Put none, it refers to any other person like family, children, friends traveliing with her.

I have had some time to reflect since I posted yesterday (it was very late). I rationalized 34 the same way you do, it refers to other applicants who will apply for visa and travel. The answer should be as you put it NONE.
Sorry, for the long list of questions. Appreciate any help/input you can provide.
Thanks

Need help with Question on DS 230, #22

22. List below all employment for the last ten years.... and at the end it says,

In what occupation do you intend to work in the United States?

How are you guys answering that? I had someone suggest to me to put N/A (since DS 230 is used for other visa categories, too and this one does not apply to K1 necessarily) and another suggest to put your fiancee's current occupation ?

Any thoughts/ideas there ? What are you guys doing ?

1) NVC phone number=603-334-0700
2) For DHL tracking, you need to know the date when it left NVC (you need to call NVC to find out). NVC will give you your case number and the date it left for the consulate. Next, go to the dhl link below

http://track.dhl-usa...?nav=TrackByRef

and use that date in your ref using this format 'exp 20 jan 2009a' (if your file left NVC on Jan 20, for instance). Don't think you need the quotes.

It will pop all packages that were shipped to different places around the world. If your case is going to New Delhi and you only see 1 file slated for Delhi delivery, it is very likely that package is your file. You can then track that. Usually would take 3/4 days to arrive at the consulate.

there is a link in one of the threads that goes into a lot of detail.. believe the aug 08 csc filers...but it boils down to what I am summarizing here in this post.....

3) As for receipt at the consulate, don't think you can get much out of the embassy. You would have to get in touch with them first and we all know how easy it is to get them to respond to emails or get them on the phone. blink.gif You can however, call DOS @202-663-1225 and they can tell you if the consulate has received your file and if pkt 3/your interview is scheduled. You need to give it some time before they can look up the info. DOS has access to the consulate databases. So, once the info is entered by the consulates, DOS can view it and share with you.

Hope that helps.

My fiancee will go to New Delhi consulate as well...

Dilbert30 - See that you got APPROVED good.gif . WOOHOO. You must me really excited to get it just before your trip to India in Feb. You should try and take all your documents (Affidavit of Support docs, NOA2, NVC letter (you should get this in a week or so), etc. Also, try to keep all your receipts when you are in India. I left mine with my fiancee when I visited her last month.

For the PCC, they needed a copy of my NOA2 when my fiancee applied for the PCC from the District PS. Fortunately, I had scanned and emailed it to her. For the Regional Passport office, nothing was required and there was no issue there. I am still waiting to get the local PCC. They came in for the verification today and said it would be ready next week for pick up. Excited about that. Think she applied a week ago. So, looks like it didn't take that long.

My case reached the Mumbai Consulate on Jan 10. Tracked it through DHL. I just got off the phone with the DOS. Pkt 3 has not been sent yet but the Mumbai Consulate has received my file from the NVC. She wouldn't tell me the date they received it as she is not allowed to. She just said it was this month. But when I inquired if it was Jan 10, she said that sounds like a good date (which I am taking it to mean .. YES). She couldn't tell me when Pkt 3 would be sent.

Cheers,

DanielParul/Others:

I am in a similar situation as Karri. K1 visa. I was approved on Dec 28 and did get a letter from NVC a week ago. I got my case number from NVC and they did inform me when my file left for the Mumbai Consulate (Jan 6). I believe the Mumbai Consulate received my file on Jan 10 (I was tracking DHL assuming that packet was mine blush.gif). In any case, how do you know if the Consulate received your file ? Do you call/email them and are they responsive. My fiancee is still waiting to receive Packet 3.

In the meantime, I have looked at their website and downloaded pkt 3. Do you check all items on the checklist and fill out the applicant statement at the end. And send that back along with DS 230 Part I. Can DS 230 be legibly 'Hand Filled' or has to be typed ?
Also, saw an Applicant Readiness Form (DS-2001). Does that need to be sent in with the Pkt 3 ?

Thanks,

Thanks Classicrock68, just spoke to a rep, they said they have it but it has not been sent to the consulate in New Delhi yet, it is under "Administrative Processing" and there is no time frame for that... I guess I might have jumped the gun a little since I jus got approved a week ago... how long should I wait before I call them back? How long did it take you guys before it left NVC for New Delhi?

Did anyone else have this problem? They dont open for another 5 mins, so I will call and try to speak to one of the people a little later, hopefully the automated system is not correct...

ok wow... MOKSHA told me bout this forum and I could not be more thankfull... I started on page one and read every single post and learned SO MUCH.... As for me... here is my sequence so far....

Jan 26th --- got my NOA2 electronically
Jan 30th --- got my NOA2 in the mail

my friend on VJ who had the same dates as me for APPLICATION SENT, NOA1 , AND NOA2, called NVC yesterday and they said that they had sent his application to the Embassy already... I checked on the DHL tracking website you guys had posted and sure enough, his was sent to Islamabad (I did not come across ANYONE other then him that had a Pakistan application, so it had to be him)... I also saw that a package was sent on the same day to NEW DELHI and that is where mine was suppose to go.... As of today morning 7:21 am, it is "Transit through DHL facility"/"NY CITY GATEWAY, NY"... I am praying my stuff is in that package... I will follow all the advice you guys gave and wait until a few days after it arrives, then call DOS, and see if NEW DELHI recieved it in the system yet... as soon as I get a yes, I will have my fiance mail out packet 3... we plan to get married in MAY so we are still ahead of schedule but it would be nice to get all the paperwork and interview out of the way as soon as possible... Thanks again for all your advice and help guys, REALLY big help so far...

Asia: SouthPCC Problem - Ahmedabad India
I'm reviving this old thread to ask about the specifics of getting a local PCC from a police station in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
My wife inquired at a local police station there and they said to follow these steps:
1) go to shahibag police station
2) take 3 true copies of your passport, photos, and original passport
3) they give you a paper
4) go to local area police station (maninagar in my case)
5) take witness and their ID and residence proof, and give the paper from shahibag
6) they do the inquiry and send the report to shahibag
7) shahibag station gives you PCC!!!

Does this sound right? Has anyone experience this process? How long does it take to get the PCC?

I haven't seen the details of this procedure posted anywhere, so I hope this helps someone.

Hmm re-reading what Parul had posted before from her experience, she mailed out Packet 3 as soon as the consulate received Packet 3 rather than wait for them to mail it out. So maybe there is no issue atleast based on her experience.

Are you not going to wait to get an indication that the Consulate has actually mailed out the Packet 3? I was gonna wait till they say that than just the fact that it has reached the Consulate. Of course there is no real need to wait for Packet 3 to be received by your fiancee but I am not sure what they do if they receive a Packet 3 before they even mail it out.

I think they send all the applications for a particular location in the same package. You can tell because the Phillipines package was soo much heavier than all the others. But yeah I guess the package sent for 26/27 ended up showing up in Delhi without any in between scans. Seems like they are delivering it today to the Consulate.

Moksha so are they really not letting people drop off Packet 3. Hmm, I was gonna ask my fiancee to do that once I figured out from DoS that they had mailed Packet 3 out. I wonder if you can mail the printed out Packet 3 in. That would still be faster than waiting for the packet to come in mail and then mailing it in.

Bah, of all the packets sent out of NVC on 26th and 27th, only the New Delhi one is stuck in transit to DHL facility in Ohio. I think that New Delhi packet is probably mine and Dilbert's in there. Every single other location one has passed through Wilmington Ohio a day and a half ago. Sigh. I hope they didn't lose it.

I know it probably something stupid but this is what happens when you can track the packet to Delhi.

I am in the same situation. Had my NOA-2 approved today 1/14 (I am the petitioner) and was trying to figure out Packet 3/4 for my fiance in Delhi.

I had a question. I will be there when my fiance has her interview. I read you have to mark somewhere who will come with you to the interview. I was wondering if that was in Packet 3 or packet 4?

Thanks

Just call up one of the doctors listed on the panel and tell then according to the instructions on pkt 4 this is your appointment date and time. Most likely they will still schedule you for an appointment according to what is available. Nothing to worry about as long as you get the medical done and have the report before the interview. Good luck!

Thanks Parul! I'll have my fiance call them. Do we need to wait for the appointment letter before making the medical appointment? I hope all is well with you and that you're feeling okay...it's getting close to baby time!

He will need his appointment letter for the medical appointment. Also 2 passport size photographs. Tell him to take any medical reports or any treatment records of past illnesses. I carried my thyroid reports etc and since i had them they did not even look at it. Just be normal. Its not a medical like in some countries. Its pretty easy. A psychological evaluation, blood test, chest x-ray and a physical and he will be done.
As for the baby, I am just hanging in here till Daniel comes home for 2 weeks in about 18 days. I want to do this with him, he's missed most of it but we are sure he'll make it in time for the baby's birth. Everythings going alright for now. thanks for asking.

Congratulations ppl!!
Anybody going to the Delhi Consulate for interview, try the doctor in Bhikaji Cama Place since its not a big hospital they will schedule it for a early date and give the report in 2-3 days. Also its an elderly couple, both doctors. It was a pretty pleasant and hassle free experience for me and a few others I know of.

Petition expiration is 4 months from the NOA2 date and New Delhi will also extend the petition if need be. I got my NOA2 on 11/20/2007 and then the file was lost coz it was wrongly filed so my case got to the Consulate in february and got the interview date for early march (03/04/2008). My petition was going to expire on 03/20/2008 but everything happened before that. They know when the petition will expire, If you are still worried all you need to do is write a letter stating the same and asking them to extend it about 7-10 days before it does. They will do it. That should not even be one of your worries right now. Just concentrate on your interview and everything will be fine.

So I called DOS today and STILL no interview date. The operator told me that the Embassy received our paperwork (packet 3) on Feb 5th, but they haven't scheduled a date yet!!! It's been almost 2 weeks! I'm starting to get a little stressed. Our petition technically expires on April 17th so I'm worried that by the time they schedule the interview, if something additional is needed, we won't have time to submit it!

But, like Karri said, they still haven't posted March's interview schedule yet so I'm holding out hope that we will be on it!

If you petition is going to expire the consulate will extend it. Dont worry though April 17th is still 2 months and you will get a interview date much before that.

So let see how does it do . smile.gif

Any thing in paticular that I should be looking for my medical exam . And did the guys who had their medical exam , got any form filled so that they wont be needing medical for AOS.

Thanks

Don't forget you still have to phsyically call one of the authroized locations to book your medical. The letter they sent was just a suggested medical appt. You do get a copy of your medical, some things not all when you go. Sam got an immunization record I believe.

Sam - welcome and don't believe a word of what Karri tells you about me roughing you up and talking sense into you. wink.gif ..I am taking the Fifth on that. Jokes apart, good luck to you and Karri.

Moksha/Karri/Dilbert/gagan/harsh/others.... Good luck to all of you. Y'all (as southern as I can get even though I am based in NC) will be fine. I just know it.

Cheers,

snickers. Classicrock loves to pick on me lol. Actually it's "all y'all." Someone from Kentucky corrected me once wink.gif

Sam, I'll have to explain to you sometime what taking the fifth means when we go over US history etc lol.

Dilbert - Considering that they send outdated forms for people to fill out that should be a red flag right there not to believe every written word you are given in a packet. Because the vast majority of interviews are immigrants and not people who have "fiances aka honey bunnies" they don't separate out the information in a more personal sense for each group. Does that make sense? The visa fee is posted on the packet4 section of the New Delhi website if you still doubt, give them a call or email them to get more info. Hope that helps some. Perhaps if you rub Sam's shoulders the right way he might post a listing of what we are submitting to VFS vs. what to bring with us to the interview to all to see as an example.

First of all hi everyone. Now some intro. I'm Sam. Yeah Karri's Sam. wink.gif
Now congratulations to all who got their interview date. And those who haven't got their interview date yet then call embassy sharp at 10 am. You will go through in first try. Since we all know they like to sit at their table for atleast 30 mins before they can go out and have fun lol. Anyways jokes apart.

So today I got my medical done. It was easy. Some things to remember when you go for medical. Take photocopy of your passport, appointment letter and 2 pics ( 50 x 50 ).
Now next most important thing since we indians don't like to go to hospitals or clinics for regular checkups so please ask your parents whether you ever had MEASLES or MUMPS ( MATA in hindi ). Some ppl have that as a kind but as they forget that they forget abt that.

Okay ok lets make this short. If your report is normal then most probably u'll get it the same day in the evening. The medical process takes 2 - 3 hours and try to go their at 9 a.m. If you go there at 9 am then they will free you by 12 pm or earlier than that. But still u'll get ur report in the evening.

So in my report I got 1 envelope ( which is for me ) and 2 other big envelopes ( which I need to submit at embassy don't know if I can submit that at VFS yet ).
I'm not going to open those other 2 big envelopes since they are sealed.

Mokhsa
We can meet up at the interview. What do you say? I'll be nervous. whistling.gif

Dilbert
Dilbert if you have any confusion regarding visa fee then call embassy they are so helpful. =)

ClassicRock
I wonder how did your interview go. Try to post your review soon since we are waiting for that eagerly.

And lastly my regards to all who are active members of this thread. =)

Just to add to Sam's post, he got 3 immunization shots done today. They are not required for K-1 but will be required for AOS when you come to the U.S. It's cheaper to get them done in India so if you have the time and money do it sooner than later. Also be advised that some shots are a series so you have to go back a month later to get next dose.
