PhilippinesTrying to get my bearings back... need your help...

Yes or No : After the IV Bill is "Paid" and the AOS is "Paid" you are on your own. You go to the State department webpage with the DS230 instructions and need for supporting documents. NOTHING is going to be mailed to my spouse correct? This websites infers in the "Guide" that something will be sent... Outdated?

Yes. In my case, I (beneficiary) did not receive any single mail from NVC. All mails were sent to my wife (USC) as she was my chosen agent.

Yes or No: My wife is to mail to the NVC the IV Bill Cover Page with the barcode and

DS230 with Part I signed and a copy
Marriage certificate and a copy
Birth Certificate and a copy
Biographic page of her passport
2 passport style photographs per State department standards
NBI clearance and a copy
Police certificates (Korean and Taiwanese already come translated in English) and copies of each

Yes.

Also... Will all these documents be present at the time of her interview? The NVC will mail back for the interview right?

The same DS-230 packet that you are about to send to NVC will be forwarded to US Embassy in Manila. Appointment letter will be sent thru email after completion of your case.

Hope it helps.

PhilippinesVISA CAtegory?
Welcome to VJ!

You fall under CR1(married for less than 2 years) or IR1 (married for more than 2 years) visa. You also have the option to file for K3 visa. You can check the difference and decide which way you should go.

Good luck to your journey!

NBI clearance is enough. If you still have the personal copy of your previous NBI clearance then you can authorize your relatives in the PI to renew it for you. You may check this link for additional information.

PhilippinesHow did u present your pictures during the interview?
I have selected around 70 quality pictures that we were together and printed on a letter size bond paper, 2 pictures in a page, using a colored laser printer here in the office. The prescreener took all of these and selected randomly some pictures and asked me who are those in the photo and where it was taken. The CO did not ask anything about the pictures though. I don't know why, but they kept all the pictures with them.

PhilippinesMy wife to be's cough... medical ?
I was worried with this same thing the last time I went for medical exam. I can easily get cough and it always takes time before it gets better (I am having cough for already a month now) :D. I had cough when I went to medical and the result was clean. Having cough will not determine if she's clean or not. As long as her chest x-ray is clean, then she will be fine.

PPD test is good, but some says it's not accurate. Having x-ray might be better but make sure the radiologist will check thoroughly for any possible problem. I heard St. Lukes are very good in finding dollar marks in your chest, I mean scars on your lungs. :D

Good luck!

PhilippinesFeb.5,2010 INTERVIEW
I took with me around 70 pictures printed on a letter size bond paper, 2 photos each page, greeting cards and mails. I made screen shots also of our emails, chat logs and phone cards. I brought statement of our joint accounts and latest bills on our house in the PI.

During the interview the prescreener asked only for the pictures. He selected at random some pictures and asked me who are those with us and where it was taken. The CO asked only the typical questions as posted everywhere here, but did not ask about the pictures.

I guess the interview depends on case to case. I've known my wife for 14 years already so the burden of proving our relationship was not much. The questions were basically on how well you know your partner.

One more tip, practice. I asked my wife to asked me something about her or about us. Then as we go along she made some corrections/suggestions on my answers. We just did it for fun, and she was really good in acting like a CO  And it was helpful, since most of the questions she asked me were asked on the actual interview.

Good luck!

PhilippinesNO CLUE WHATS GOING ON!
Talk to your hubby about the idea of moving in to other state, far from where you live right now. Maybe if they will be away from each other will change the situation. If that girl is a real "friend", then she will understand that the guy who's always been there for her is already married and has other priorities than her.

Get his attention. Maybe he was just too busy with his "friend" to the point that he's becoming insensitive and almost forgot that he's already married. Ask for a chance. A chance to prove him that you're better than anyone else. And if that chance arrives, don't let it go, be at your best and make him realize that it all worth it.

Just my opinion. :)

PhilippinesAge Difference
QUOTE (sojen @ Jun 5 2009, 08:25 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
QUOTE (Steve and Grace @ Jun 5 2009, 07:45 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hello everyone!

I know there's a poll somewhere on VJ about the age difference between filipinas and their husbands/fiances. I've seen it and saw many with large age gaps between the man and woman. I'm just curious. Did the consular officer bring this up during the interview? Did it cause anyone to get denied? I've been worrying about this the last couple of days. Her interview is June 16th. She just needs to do one more thing for her medical related to her recent surgery. We have a legitimate relationship and proof of such for three and half years now. Maybe I'm just worried about nothing but any reassurance would make it easier to sleep at night. I really don't want anymore delays.

Thanks everyone and good luck with your visa journey.

Best wishes,

Grace & Steven

It's not a problem if you can prove that it is a legitimate relationship. Though on my interview the consul really ask me about why I wanna get married to this person 13 years my senior , but I answer ed him calmly. It doesn't mean your fiancee will be ask about this, it's up to the CO what he/she wants to ask.

tongue.gif Well I am a 39 year old woman and my fiance is 27 but its a complete role reversal as he is the "older" one & actualy acts like he's 49!!! I am the one everyone thinks is the 20something LOL...Love knows NO number (as long as its legal) so do not worry. Best of Luck on your journey!

PhilippinesIf tension becomes worse between The USA and North Korea...?
Visa's wouldn't be sped up at all. If war broke out with North Korea it would probably slow the process down. Besides the Philippines asked the US military to leave the country--which we did not desire to do because of tensions on the Korean penisula and China's growing projection of power at sea. The two countries are not as close ally's as they once were.

Don't see anything happening with North Korea and if it does the US military needs to worry about South Korea and Japan--not the country(s) that kicked out their perfectly good free defense force and one of the largest contributors to its economy.

PhilippinesFOR PINAY FIANCEES
Question for pookaphilus--How did you get information that the Embassy received your package on the 23rd of July?

I did get in touch with NVC and they said they mailed mine to the Embassy on the 19th of July as well. I tracked the date using DHL tracking but not sure in fact if ours was 1 of the packages mailed (since letter from NVC was dated 20 July saying they received my case). Did you call or email the embassy to confirm receipt?
dluke77MalePhilippines2010-07-28 12:34:00
PhilippinesUSEM Manila
You can email the embassy if you'd like from the link in their website. I did and received a response the next day. But yes you can call the embassy Call Center and go through the process of scheduling your interview--using the procedures on this thread. Just make sure you have your Department of State/Embassy case number that will begin with MNL (for Manila Embassy).

I got through last night appointment for 20 August... they had some early as 17 Aug but we have a name issue and medical to make sure we get through. As long as she's here by mid-September--what a birthday present that will be.

experience exactly the same as yours....and i do not understand why would they do that? usem system broke and cant be fixed in a day or two? impossible....this is us of a embassy..waaaaaaaaa.......what is goin' on????????

Its because it is a 'Call Center' contracted out to a Philippine run business.
dluke77MalePhilippines2010-08-02 08:54:00
PhilippinesUSEM Manila
I called the Embassy last night and had the same thing happen.

First use of PIN the operator picked up and hung up.

Second call was told they are updating their database and to call back end of the week. She could tell me though K1 Visa appointment should be between 17 and 26 August? Didn't refer to it as a systems technical problem though.

Kinda thought it was strange that the database is being updated. A few hours into a Monday morning beginning of the month when the website says their stuff is updated middle of the month--but yet she could tell when appointments are available. And what kind of database could they possibly be using that it takes days to update?

Maybe reading too much into it but what when the your being charged $18 through a Call Center it seems like a scam in itself. 1 hang-up, 1 sorry dbase is updating for a week--and don't know when it will be done, should I assume their will be another delay so that they can get another $18 out of me?

Wow can't imagine a US company having a dbase back up on a mid-Monday morning or even a technical problem that management would let employees tell customers to call back in 4 or 5 days. Someone would be joining the ranks of unemployed here thats for sure.

PhilippinesWife's 8/4/ 2010 Interview
Congrats. Really cool that it seemed to go smoothly.

My fiance will go through her interview 20 August. Went to her medical at St Lukes yesterday and she told me that she was surprised at how smooth things flowed and that in her opinion (albiet a long day) that it was very organized and simple process to get through.

PhilippinesExpectations
El Buscador so you have a softer non-political side. I loved the dialogue your post on the Filipinos Against Arizona Immigration Law created—even though we ‘may be’ on two different sides of the issue it was a good post and made the work day here go by quicker.

What have I done to help my fiancé prepare for coming here? Well I am Catholic although don’t go to church—she does every week. Simply going to have to man-up, stop making excuses not go, and go because I actually enjoy going (just like sleeping in or the Playstation 3 better). But I know this will be good for both of us to go and another avenue to minimize the effects of her big move abroad.

I will or have given her advice and encouragement to:

a) Learn to drive. My visit was vacation (all free time to devote to her), here in US I am at work 10 hours a day. She will be on her own when I am at work or even extended alone time when I am deployed. You can’t just jump in a trike or jeep for a few pesos and get to where you need or want to go here.
b) ESL (English as Second Language)—she speaks good enough English for me but written English needs some, ok a lot of improvement, even though I love her emails and adore the broken English—just don’t think employers will.
c) Philippine Cultural Center (PCC)—we have a large Filipino population here fortunately that is big enough that they have a large PCC with good community support and fellowship.
d) Filipino Package: Yep already called cable and got the Filipino cable package… like $14.99 per month and has three channels—ok I’ve had it for 3 years and don’t understand tagalog but don’t need to know it to look at the wowowee dancers ? so maybe the Filipino package is more for me than her ? hate to see the show go and become something else now.
e) Computer / Internet Access / Web-Cam: Yes I have these but her family doesn’t. I know they don’t have the resources to have them either. I will be getting her family this stuff there so they can stay in contact as much as possible.
f) Job/School: Provide encouragement and resources to help her do what she wants in order to become what she wants (she has degree but doesn’t like the line of work). If she wants to go to school and learn new career/trade that is great… doesn’t matter to me if that career is homemaker, wal-mart greeter, lawyer, dentist or doctor. My job is easy—just provide her loving support and encouragement.

We have talked about her move and she was surprised by a lot of things that will be different. Communication is the key… don’t assume anything here is the same as there in Philippines.

If I missed anything major let me know???

PhilippinesDoes anyone know any online dating sites where you can meet Americans looking for a wife in the Philippines.
cebuanas.com is a decent site--although decent for meeting ladies--not so sure about for ladies meeting men :)

Understand both sides of the fence here. For the original poster:

It would be wise to advise your best friend and sister to make sure they truly fall in love first before they ever consider coming to the US (which I do recognize you didn't mention--but I think we are all assuming unfortunately but that is human nature). I have seen far to many of my friends filipina and Americans hurt becuase the filipina married to come to the US with hopes of falling in love.

PhilippinesMedical Exam Problem
She went to her medical exam at St. Lukes and was told she needed a sputum test. So she had her appointment on the 20th of August resheduled :( indefinately until sputum lab results come back. She will be taking the sputum test on 16, 17, 18 August.

Can anyone give me an idea of how this process works and how long it takes for results to come back?

They told her two months--but so far everything, luckily, has been a lot less waiting times then the 'advertised' waiting times.

PhilippinesFilipinos Against Arizona Immigration Law SB1070
I like to think I consider both sides Tahoma and the issues the three issues I included are pretty well defined as truths (not just in the media)--yes you are right innocent until proven guilty--problem is sometimes regardless if it is Bush or Obama in office the State or Federal Government just ignore any evidence and doesn't try to prove one guilty in the courts or even implement disciplinary actio--because of the Administrations agenda.

Bush took responsibility and didn't pretend to know all the answers--had made it clear he had advisors for that. And when those advisors didn't get it right he had no problem holding them and/or himself accountable.

And no I do not blame the BP oil spill on Obama--its BP fault. I don't blame Katrina on Bush--its a natural disaster. I think folks in both situations were given the best possible treatment and assistance--under the circumstances... Name one country that would have handled either situation better than the Good Ole US of A!!

I am neither Republican or Democrat--some of what was done in the Bush administration was no more or less appalling than what is being done in the Obama administration. Obama is the Kennedy of our error (yep meant error/era used together), winning in part due to their unique charisma and the ability to get minorities out to vote-and no it is not racist statement. It is a truth, by virtue of his color, people of every color (including more white voters) got out and voted. That is a positive step forward in this country where not enough people excercise the wonderful right to vote.

PhilippinesFilipinos Against Arizona Immigration Law SB1070
http://www.investors...&obref=outbrain

Good article on how the US has violated Arizona's constitutional right to function as a replublic.

Obama obviously is just stubborn and on his own agenda: Three examples...

1) Forced the health care issue--even willing to violate the Constitution by giving special rights to Nebraska so they would vote for it.

2) Pushing against states and their fight against illegal immigration, but not offering a federal solution or valid push against the issue. Ex: Illegals being turned over to ICE and being released then manslaughtering legal residents/citizens via DUI's.

3) Refuses to replace NOAA head Jane Lubchenco and kept the New England Fisheries officer on government payroll even after Inspector General Report stated vast unaccountability of forfeiture funds collected through criminal treatment of fishermen during what should have been 'administrative' enforcement--and done through the use of illegal search and siezure and caught red handed after being told not to destroy documents--had documents shredded.

This is a prime example of why our forfathers wrote the Constitution--to prevent the certain folks in government from instituting and furthering against laws their own agenda.
dluke77MalePhilippines2010-08-05 08:42:00
PhilippinesFilipinos Against Arizona Immigration Law SB1070
Business's can be easily fooled--false documents can be easily accepted by even a business that is paying correct wages. And the federal government does go after the businesses but it is a bogus and silly front. Example: The meat packing plant in Omaha, Nebraska that was up the street from my house had FDA Government workers working next to illegal immigrants (guys that spoke 0 english)!!! ICE would come in to a plant every 18 months or so just to make a showing and cart illegals off--my neighbor illegal was in custody 4 hours and back at work the next day at the same plant. My other neighbor a legal mexican immigrant--had been laid off and without work from the same plant for about 4 years.

One more good reason to issue National ID Cards; with finger print/DNA verification system built in.
dluke77MalePhilippines2010-08-04 12:08:00
PhilippinesFilipinos Against Arizona Immigration Law SB1070
http://bearingdrift....jures-2-others/

Link to another good reason why Arizona and other states should be allowed to assist the federal government in applying the federal law in their own states!!!!

Illegal immigrant let go by ICE for the weekend, AFTER HIS 2ND DUI AND MULTIPLE ARREST/CONVICTIONS, hits and kills a nun injures 2 others at 8 a.m.

This is not the first time this happened either... happened a couple years back in Virginia Beach too.

Give the states the right to fly illegals back to their country of origin. Set up a national database the state can document illegals sent back at the federal level. And give the state federally reimbursed funds for cost associated with sending illegals back--and throw in a bounty of $1000 per head making it worthwhile even for illegal loving cash-straped states to reconsider their harboring of lawbreakers--I mean you can get a drivers license even if you are illegal in Washington and other States...

Hi, I didn't receive packet 3 from the US embassy. As soon as you have your MNL case number, your fiance can go to St. Luke's for medical anytime she wants as long as she doesn't have her period. You or your fiance can call up the embassy to schedule for an interview whenever you are ready with your documents. The interview should be at least a week after the medical to give them ample time to submit the medical results to the embassy. Goodluck!

Ok. Thanks alot po.
