Just use the cosponsor. Do not lie, if they ask tell the truth, but you don't need to advertise it. Just answer all the questions they ask and there's really no need to volunteer information.

And look for a job because you will need it for the AOS too.

Am I the only one that thinks there should be a red flag on a country that has enough female beneficiaries of Fiance Visas to the US that there are several sites dedicated specifically to helping with their petitions? Maybe it's just me whistling.gif

Anyway, to the OP, don't pay anybody to do it for you unless you have a criminal record, or prior K-1s, etc., and if you fall in that category, you need to hire a lawyer, not some lame company that can't even make a professional website. Good luck!

He said , he 1st got to meet women at the bars and also there is no language barrier.

I am arriving in Manila at 10:55PM from the US the day that I go. I get to a hotel that is right next to the embassy. Will it be easy for me to get a Taxi from the airport to drive all of the way there? I hear it is a long drive. Should I prearrange a taxi somehow? If so then how? Or should I just wait until I arrive? How much will a ride cost?

This is my "normal" arrival time when I fly from the US. I have never had a problem with getting a Taxi. You can either get a prepaid fixed amount, more expensive taxi to the hotel, or easily get a official, airport-approved Metered taxi in the airport right outside the terminal doors. The metered taxis are a little bit more than the normal fare around manila, but not too bad - I think the trip may run you about 250-350 pesos with the metered taxi to the USEM area (probably 20-25 minutes at that time of night). The third alternative is to walk further out of the terminal to save 100pesos and get a regular taxi, but it is a pain, you have to argue with them about turning on the meter, etc. I just prefer to not waste the time and spend the extra $2.

I been looking at recent time lines ... and most are getting NOA1 by email within 2 days .... I know they got our packet last friday ... so we are on the 3rd day now and no email .... just a little worried now something was missed ... we pray pray everything is there they need. I double, triple checked everything too hehe .... maybe a little too early to start worrying?

Do not worry too much, you should get your NOA1 in the US Mail. You will almost certainly NEVER get an EMAIL for the NOA1. You will only get emails after you start tracking your case online and you need the receipt number to do this which you can get from the back of the check after it is cashed, or on the NOA1 itself (I think it is there too). Just sign up online at the USCIS site after you get it and sign up for email - then you can get an email when your NOA2 is approved.

For example, Sent the application on Feb 23, they received it on Feb 25, issued the NOA1 on Feb 26, but did not cash my check until March 3 (I was able to see my check electronically at that time and sign up on the USCIS site then). So the NOA1 happened before I could sign up for email (if you put your email on the application, they don't actually use it - you have to sign up). I received the NOA1 on March 4. It is normal to take a week or two to get a NOA1.

Troubles is always in our way. I am suppose to fly on the 17th of April 2009 in the US but my visa expired..! The visa was released from the embassy on April 2, 2009 but DELBROS delivered my visa on the 15th of April but my visa expired on April 16,2009. My medical was on October 16,2008 and it's only good for 6 months and thats the reason why myvisa is good only for 2 weeks. Now, i need to get another medical exam and right now I am 26 weeks pregnant. My questions are, do I need a vaccines and chest x-ray? How long do I need to wait to get my replacement visa again? And lastly, can I still get in the plane when i am 7 mos pregnant?

Please I need to hear all ur advices.

Check the visa carefully. The visa is valid for 6 months from the date it is issued, NOT from the medical. The medical is a prerequisite for the approval, but is NOT a visa. The visa validity should be for 6 months (from when you were approved).

If this is not the case, your only recourse would be to get the US Embassy to fix this. I would call the US Embassy as soon as they open and be prepared to go to the US Embassy in person if/when asked.

Hello everyone! It's been a while since I posted a topic and I am now back to seek some advices.

I left some of my clothes in my PI coz I thought I won't need them because of the different weather conditions here in the US.

Now that it's spring and close to summer, I am wondering if I would see any problem sending some of my clothes here.

My bestfriend in PI said that she asked LBC if there's any problem that we might consider if I decide to send some of my clothes here.

They said that it is impossible to send clothes to the US coz it would be hindered by the US Customs. Is this true?

Had anybody tried shipping some of their clothes to the US and received them?

If yes, can you suggest any courier service?

Hope to hear some replies from all of you..

I think it would be wiser for you to just buy new clothes out from the money you will be using for shipping......Trust me the shipping companies might dig your pocket deeper for the shippinig fees.

Shipping via LBC would probably not be worth it. If you want to ship, use regular parcel post at a post office and use the slowest option (via boat/sea). I have shipped clothing from a number of countries this way with no problems. On the customs forms note them as personal belongings/clothes or something like that. And be aware that it will not be super cheap. If it is a larger/heavier box it could be $80, $100 or more.

You may want to check out the Post office. I have found that sending boxes via the Postal system is cheapest (things do change). It may take 2 months on ships and trucks, but it will get there. If you have to have it right away, carry it on the plane....

You have two ways to go. You can apply at the Philippine Embassy for a tourist visa that lasts the duration of your trip. Or you can go on a 21-day visa and renew. I would caution though that on entry if they look closely at your return ticket, you *could* run a risk that they notice your return is for >21 days and this could cause problems...

If you have the time, I would check into the visa, or book a flight returning in 21 days that you can change.

Moved to the PI forum, for the best response.

In my experience, a one way ticket is always allowed, but costs 80% of a R/T ticket.

There is no law precluding you from a one way ticket, although you may undergo more scrutiny from the Law Enforcement perspective.

Circumstances vary, therefore you may or may not, experience additional questions about the ticket choice.

I'd been going home to the Philippines for the past 20 years and never had a problem with the Philippine Immigration. I was never asked to provide any return ticket to the US. I have no problem with the cost of the ticket. The reason why i am only purchasing a one way ticket is because NVC don't have an interview date set up yet for my wife. And we will be taking a different airline and be upgrading our seats. Maybe i should inquire from a different travel agency not associated with Philippine Airlines.

There are two issues in play I think. First, if you are not a Philippine citizen, you are technically required to have a ticket *leaving* the Philippines in order to be allowed entry. Truth is they often don't check this, but sometimes they do and they can and will refuse entry. This is one reason that some airlines/agents may not allow you to book this. There are ways around it, but they may not be so nice (buy a one way fully refundable ticket leaving the country and then get a refund after you get to the philippines). Also as was pointed out, many airlines charge the same or sometimes even more for a one way ticket than for the full round trip - it is b.s. but it is common.

So why do you need a one way ticket?

Have you tried to book from the Philippines and paying cash (wire the money via moneygram or western union)? This should not be a problem, but I do not know. You should be sure that if needed, you provide the passport/visa number. Maybe try flying in via Philippine airlines and connecting. I really hope you figure this out - I know it is no fun.

Well, actually, that may be true for the IR1/CR1, but I have filed a K1. I understand that for a K1, the US Embassy sets the Interview Date. Also, I believe that the DS-230 is only for a spousal visa (K3/IR1/CR1) but I am not sure of this.

I have already spoken to the NVC, and from their perspective, they seemed to be done with the case (assuming they actually *did* send it on as they said they would be when I called earlier today).

Does anyone know if the DS-230 needs to be filed for the K1 and if I need to complete any part of it??

Umm....there is NO useful info there. I have been all over that, as well as the USEM site and NVC site. Yes, I know I can wait until the USEM feels like scheduling an interview, or maybe I can influence their scheduling. They provide a phone number to call for this, but there is no clear definition of when you can call it. I believe you can call as soon as they do their initial processing, rather than wait 2-3 weeks until a letter gets mailed and delivered.

PhilippinesWhat's needed for interview (and to schedule the interview)?
Ok, the NVC has *finally* gotten my case and assigned a case # (MNLxxxx). I have a few questions on the next steps for a K1 in the Philippines.

First, what is needed for me to call and get an interview scheduled? Is it just a matter of giving it a few days for the case to be received by the US Embassy in Manila? Is there any way to know when I can call? Or do I need to fill in a DS-230? From the US Embassy web site, it seems I don't need this.

Second, with regard to proof for the I-134, do I need to provide W-2's for the last 3 tax years? I only have the last 2 years (the year before that I worked in Japan and did NOT receive a W-2 or even a year end earnings statement). I will provide the last 3 years tax transcripts, plus my last 2 years W-2s.

Third, for my letter of employment, does it matter if it is 3 or 4 months old (I will be attaching my payslips since then)?

Thanks in advance!

QUOTE (rheanick @ Jun 15 2009, 02:06 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Would like to ask if anyone tried sending vitamins to Philippines using USPS.

I'm thinking of using it USPS flat rate priority mail.

I send important documents to the philippines before, using USPS flat rate priority mail and it arrived within 6 days for less than 5 dollars.

Now, for boxes with weight not greater than 20 lbs, price range is from USD 41.95 - 53.95. I find this a good deal.

If anyone tried this, how was it?

I've done this before and had no problems. I find the USPS to be a good cheap alternative. It is not fast, but it gets there. If you are sending to Manila, it should be there in 10 days or so unless customs plays games. If out of the manila area, more like 2 weeks or so.

But my last package go seriously slowed because Philippine Airlines refused to carry it because "it contained liquids" (body lotion). Totally bogus and did not happen in the past. It looks like it will end up taking about 6 weeks as a result. This is *totally* bogus, but you can avoid it.
