Did anybody get NOA2 in the last 2 days?

2 march filers that actually sent it late February are the only 2 I know of

Why, oh why is it always me who is among the suffering?!?!?!

Igor not that it will make you or anyone feel better, but there are still 40 couples from February and God knows many even before that who are still waiting.. Plus all the people that have never found VJ..... What I am trying to say... is... it isnt like you are being singled out and all of us are more or less in the same boat with many of the same issues and problems my friend... and we are ALL in this together... Your day will come... truly, it will!

Thanks my VJ family! Some days it just gets me really bad, the frustration of opening an empty mailbox at the end of the day puts a big toll on me sad.gif . I realize I am not the only one and there are dozens of couples like us, but it is so crying.gif

Igor, take solace that they are processing more apps. They do (roughly) process in order, so being a Feb filer, it should be soon... I know they suck for not doing better, but it is their red tape, you are just one of many caught in it...

Well, actually, I don't know if I am next or not. Jenny has her medical on Monday/Tuesday and an interview set for one week from Monday (Aug 10)...

I am a little more worried about the medical than the interview... we should not have any issues - we have met numerous times in person, i've spent time with her family, been in her sisters wedding, have all the evidence to show it, she has never been married, no kids, i am well able to suppor her etc...

Igor I have switched hobbies. It is just that they allow me to be home more. It's not that big of a deal. I am catching up on my reading. Most of my previous hobbies were costly. I don't mind at all. Sometimes things need to change. I have been doing work around the house and going to the theme parks or the movies as much. I didn't become a hermit I just changed somethings up. Besides it gives me more time to talk to everyone here.

Do you cook?

Usually. My roommate and I rotate that. I am pretty particular about what I eat. Not a big fan of processed foods. Except for mac & cheese. It's kind of a guilty pleasure. I wouldn't say that I love to cook, but I don't mind it. I am kind of a nerd who has to follow recipes to the letter. I lack the knowledge to just whip something up with no real idea of what I am doing. Are you the culinary mastermind in your home?

Yumm! Mac & Cheese....love the stuff...even the processed kind in a box. Now it is something that I can't eat (more than a couple bites) due to it not really being on a diabetic menu...

I guess that means you can eat my share wink.gif

Ok, I'm not going to go into why this has been a bad week except to say that Simon Properties is one of the shadiest, nastiest, unprofessional, unrealistic, unreasonable companies that exists.

I am finally able to report the USEM in Manila has our case and finally has let us get an interview date (Aug 10).

They signed for the package on July 17, I called on the 18th and they told me (after paying $18 for a PIN to schedule the interview via their call center) that I would have to wait 4 weeks or until they mailed Jenny a letter (with the interview date). I called again on Tuesday (the 22nd Manila time) and they said the same thing. Then tonight I called again, figuring the PIN probably does not work (it is supposed to be good for 2 calls only), but it still worked, and the person told me that "your case was qualified to schedule the interview as of the 20th of July" (say what!?!?) and let me schedule the interview. Man is this bureaucracy whacked out...

I would personally stick with the address that you have been using. I would change the address when you go to adjust status. I know that honesty is supposed to be the best policy, but unfortunately you are dealing with a government agency and as you are well aware not the most efficient one either. I wouldn't complicate things this late in the game. It is ultimately your decision, but in my opinion I would keep whatever address you have been using.

I agree with Lee here good.gif - unless the old address is not able to get mail for you (your mom still lives there right? and she still is talking to you and willing to give you your mail?). Keep consistent with the address for now, and change it later (use an updated address when you file the AOS).

Well, our file has been delivered to the US Embassy in Manila (as of about 11pm last night)!!

So it is time to get my package of stuff in the mail (DHL) to Jenny. So organizing the stuff I have gathered and trying to get the last little bits, I call the "customer service" for the calling card that the bulk of my phone calls to Jenny has used (it is an MCI/Verizon one). So I navigate the never what you need automated maze and get to a person and ask how I can get a call history. They tell me they will give me the number of the "subpoena department"?!?! So I ask what, are you kidding how long will that take, days, weeks,...?? They tell me they don't know, and sort of mention in passing, like it is natural that I have to get a COURT ORDER!?? What CR&P. I won't be supplying that...really, a court order to get your own call history...

I have other documentation, including some skype calls, chat logs, emails, USPS receipts from packages, txt msgs, and some phone calls since I signed up for AT&T world connect. Shouldn't have any problems, but having the extra evidence available would be nice...

I think u have enough dont need to go thru that hassle..but thats my humble opinion

No way am I going to go through that hassle (not to mention cost). I figured I could call them and just get a print out. It ain't that simple, and I don't really need it, so I am done with collecting stuff... I'm heading to ship it momentarily.

Either way, it should not be a big problem. It is entirely possible that just a signed affidavit/letter is fine (and if your letter of intent includes such declaration it may be enough). Hopefully the embassy is more prompt with the answer than the mailroom!

Derek,

That is great news! I think it is something different. It sounds like it is a statement that you or she is legally able to be married (in the Philippines, the National Statistics Offices issues a "CErtificate of NO MARriage" called a CENOMAR).

Maybe email them for a clarification.

First, you have to call the NVC... Once they tell you "we sent your file to the US Embassy on xxx" then you can use the date ("xxx") to find the package and track it - see my earlier post or pm me when you know the date...

It will probably be on a plane to Ireland and then arrive either late tomorrow or the day after...the midlands is just where the next DHL distribution hub is. I looked back at old deliveries (isn't it great being able to see the package!) and this is the normal route.

My package is on its way to Hong Kong first, maybe with a stop in Alaska. Then off to Manila. It will probably be there Thursday, but it could be longer sad.gif

I just called NVC and our file was sent to Dublin yesterday. woo hoo. I hope the rest of the journey is plain sailing star_smile.gif

For those who might want to track their package from the NVC to the embassy, I found a good wiki on the whole process for IR1/CR1 which had details on how to do this. The following is how you can do this (I tested this and it works ok as long as you include the spaces in the reference as described and use a date that is a workday - so if your file was sent yesterday, you may need to put in friday's date):

" * 1. NVC sets an appointment date for you and sends out your package to the US Embassy.

If you're really #######, paranoid, or just a busybody, you can track the package status. You can use the date after your interview was assigned, as the tracking reference date, and then do a search on DHL. The format to use is "EXP 07 OCT 2008A" don't forget the spaces...and to set the date range on the tracking page. The website for tracking is. http://track.dhl-usa...?nav=TrackByRef The package may not go out on the next day, but the reference code will still be for that date. When your package is able to be tracked, it will make more sense. You'll see a list of packages going to different embassies. You'll know which one is yours. "

So for those sent yesterday use the reference of "EXP 10 JUL 2009A" and enter a date range that includes yesterday. then just find your embassy and click on the tracking number...

Thanks Dave, I'm going to check it now

it is in transit and left OH this morning, scheduled for next day delivery kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif
thanks again Dave

Susan, it definitely looks like you and I were in the same pile of applications. I just called them up, and they confirmed that it went out yesterday. So it looks like we went to Wilmington, OH together (where DHL has its central sorting and flight operations) and then split up...

Now it is time to get Lee and Chelartie out of the extra processing!

It has been since last Nov 10 for me sad.gif

I wish I had more vacation....I would be there every couple months! And you guys should not complain - from where I am, it is $1100-1200 round trip just to Manila. I could get that down to about 980 if I am willing to add a stop and 8+ hours to a 22-24 hour trip, but it is not worth it to me! I would rather spend the extra 200...

JeremySusan - guess what? I called the NVC today and my case made it to the NVC on Friday too! (even though when I called COB on Friday they said they had NOT received it!). They told me it was "supposed to be mailed to the US Embassy today". We will see what happens - I won't count on it just yet!

Now I have to figure out:
a) if i can track it to Manila
cool.gif what I need to be able to get the interview (I have the case number assigned by NVC)
c) if I need anything else beyond what I have together for the interview...

WOW content.gif just yesterday I was on here whining about us not receiving our approval notice (receipt was back in late February) .... then a half hour later I decided to check the status of our application online 'just in case' and *ping!* approval! I couldn't believe my eyes. Perhaps it was good luck, writing on this forum! This is clearly a good sign for all Feb filers.

Thanks for the mojito. happy.gif

Congratulations! Awesome news! Hope the rest roll in now too!

ok so that people don't get mad that we aren't talking about k-1's. today's topic open for discussion. if anyone of you didn't get approved what would you have done next? marriage, gave up? moved to SO country?

Great question. We will try marriage and then if that doesn't work we would look into me moving there and teaching English. Try again once a year until we get approved. I don't think that will be the case for us though.

Thanks Liz I am doing good. I expect to be out of AP this week. I did a bunch of reading on K-1's in AP at NVC and they don't seem to last for more than two weeks.

I actually have thought about this...I would likely move to the Philippines (and take all my assets with me) and refuse to pay taxes ever again. I am likely to retire there with my sweetie in another 5 or 10 years if I can anyway, and having the "benefit" of paying $500 to be denied would tick me off to no end. Of course, there is no reason to be denied for most applicants - though the USCIS taking their grand old time is all too likely...

I also thought about it from the stand point of the IF we didn't get approved. It would be very difficult for me with children and my job... not to mention I don't speak Polish. There is no way I could earn what I earn here and that would also be problematical.... So, I hope we don't have to ever find out! Dave, agreed, there is no reason for most of us to be denied it is just the painstaking process we have to go through.

I hear you! If I had kids that would change everything! As for my job, it pays for the lifestyle I tend to live here, but the Philippines is a cheaper place, and I already know from my travels, I can be pretty comfortable with a fairly minimalist lifestyle. If there is a my sweetie, a nice beach, nice ocean, and scuba I will be quite happy and content. I might even buy a guesthouse or something to keep me busy and offer modest income. I expect that my savings and money from either renting or selling my house will help keep me going...

I don't remember who said it (I think it was Lee, but maybe not)... he was talking about a moth to flame... it was a very good analogy, at least from my perspective. My ex dragged me through 3 years of emotional torture... for which I can only blame ME for allowing her to do it to me... The best thing I ever did for myself, my sanity and my children was to STOP allowing her to do it. That said... it did take me three long years and a tremendous amount of heartache to get there. I only hope that, for you, you can do it much, much sooner!

Yup, it was me talking about moths going up in smoke...

I agree - two "problems". The immediate problem is this chick - it is a well understood solution - kick her as$ to the curb and don't open the door again.

WOW sad.gif

All I can say to u my lovely Jawi is that U described me better than my mother..every single thing you said describes exactly how my mind is working right now....*sighs* U made me teary

Just to show you how much I relate to you....here is a picture of my ex-husband. I am a sucker for a beautiful man!

wow very handsome girl...damnnnn
he has been the only man I have made love to in 24 years and the only one I am attracted to...may be cus we grew up together and those memories have something to do with it I dunno....and also because I found the ideal reason to make my family happy after all they have suffered with my past

I think you are attempting to change your basic make-up sweetie. I believe you care deeply for him...but your heart is not there. It may be why you found little things to start arguments over. Just because you can stomach making love to him...doesn't mean it will always be that way. You have always been attracted and drawn to women I am assuming. Do you think a wedding ring or baby will magically stop that attraction? It won't. I want you to be happy...you deserve it. But, he deserves the same happiness.

I know most countries have 6 months to enter the US after the K1 visa is issued. Is that the same for Cuba? Maybe, that will give you a little more time to weigh your heartstrings. It would be truly unfortunate if he gives up all his possessions and you can't bring yourself to marry him.

Well, I have to say I agree with what has been said. Maire, I just hope that you do what is right for *you* and ensure a life of happiness for yourself. Because I want this for you, I am worried that you are in emotional turmoil over this. This girl sounds to be truly bad news, and I am absolutely sure you would not have true happiness with her (maybe a few hours of happiness here and there, but lots of misery as well). The question is happiness to be found in your SO? I can't help you with this question, but I wish I could...

I just asked USCIS for my NOA 2 monday. They told me i would get it in 5 days. Well today I received this email

The status of this service request is:

The Vermont Service Center is in the process of validating your expedite request on the grounds of United States Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) error. To do this the center has to review the petition/application that you submitted.

A review of our records indicates that your petition /application was forwarded to an offsite storage facility. Your file has been requested and USCIS will review your application/petition and respond back to you with our determination of your expedite request.

Please allow 30 days for receipt of this final decision.

We should make a movie out of this, first time you emailed you got a response regarding a I-130 petition that you have never filed, and now this... I'm sorry but I'm laughing out loud lol

I think you should do an info pass, which is making an appointment with one of the local offices of USCIS around your area to discuss this matter. Direct feedback is better than nothing

is there a fee for that info pass thing?

There is no fee (except I had to pay for parking). However, there is a very good chance they will not be able to do anything. When I tried to do this to be sure I got a misprint in a form corrected, they just said, "we don't have access to your file, it is in another office. Go Away" (ok, they did not actually say go away, but told me there was nothing they could do to help and would not see me even though they let me make the appointment.

I would follow up in about a week before wasting your time with an InfoPass appointment.

Well, my file still is not at NVC, so I called the USCIS. After negotiating the maze of options, I somehow managed to actually get to the VSC and get "Officer Norma" at the VSC on the phone. Yes, as in a real live person at the Vermont Service Center!!! good.gif

I was very polite and apologized if I was being pushy and aggressive, but I wanted to know if they could track where my file was in it's journey to the NVC. She took my receipt number, and after a bit of typing and associated pauses, she said that it had not been mailed yet, but had arrived in the mailroom today. She was friendly and professional enough and did not get too upset with my calling, but I always think that trying to disarm folks first with some extra politeness helps.

So with luck, it should be in the mail today or tomorrow and arrive (finally) at the NVC early next week. I hope that the others waiting to for them to mail are also in the mail room smile.gif

I am still in shock, that somehow I got transferred to the VSC and not the customer (lack of) service line! Not sure how that happened.

Morning Everyone!

Derek, I can't believe the tragic state of your case, it's really disheartening. So the USCIS screws up and now it's in some storage facility?? I hope for the best for you and your honey till they figure out how to get their head out of their ####...

Richard, My Lampros has never been to the states at all, and a good chance he won't til he moves her permanently. He lived in the UK for 7 odd years, so it's not going to be a harsh change... What all did your SO find strange? Curious what his culture shock will be like..hehe.

The fact that it is in a storage facility is pretty much expected. The VSC approved it and (thought) they were done with it. If the NOA2 had been correctly delivered, the file would not be needed for many months, and then would be needed by a different office (the local field office, not the VSC) when they process the AOS. So until then, they need the space for all the other pending cases, so they put it in storage.
