Part two......you are allowed to have a co-sponser...

In most but not necessarily all consulates.. Manila comes to mind that frowns on co-sponsors

Right and to clarify another point, a joint sponsor cannot "make up for" your shortage of income unless they are part of your actual household. Otherwise, the joint sponsor must qualify as sponsor; must meet the full income requirements for their household plus the intending immigrant.

you stated that if others live in the household they CAN be used to "make up" the lacking income...is that also true at the embassy level? I know it is true for AOS...my parents live with me...(i take care of them) and my income is sufficient, but i've had times off work due to illness that was documented on the I129F form. With THAT in mind...can they simply "make up" the difference? or be a full co sponsor?

http://www.visapro.c...State-Forms.asp

If you are referring to a OMB dates, you can continue using the forms, it is a date that Office of Management and Budget specifies that suggested changes and auditing by the various departments needs to be completed by, in this case Department of State. OMB date is an internal audit date, not an expiration of the form.

The various consulates use and mail out forms that are much older than that.

example: http://www.reginfo.g...umber=1405-0018

For some reason visapro.com does not show a listing for any of the medical forms (ds2053, ds3024, ds3025 or ds3026). I also did a search on the website with negative results. The DOS website says these forms are unavailable. Any other suggestions??
These forms are not filled out by you or the beneficiary, they are filled out by medical personnel, so are provided in packet 4 to take to the medical before attending interview.

I receive the Medical History form in packet 3 and was instructed to complete and sign it. What the Doctor does is had his remarks a the bottom and send it back to the embassy. Packet 4 had only the appointmrnt letter for the interview.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresINTERVIEW EXPERIENCE
QUOTE (topharry123 @ Nov 8 2007, 07:20 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Well yesterday i had my interview and i have finally been approved! As long as the blood test comes back clear from the medical, which it will i will have my visa in hand ina bout 2 weeks! Here is what happened at the interview for anyone still waiting.

Firstly after waiting in line for an hour, they let us into the building on a first come first serve basis i think. They called my number and took me up to booth 1. Not a room like i expected, just a bloke behind a glass pane like in a bank. He asked to see the documents in order and told me to go and sit down to wait for my interview.

About 15 minutes later i was called up to a separate interview window, again in a line of booths. I was asked how i met my fiance. I answered this and was immediately told i had been approved and to arrange for it to be couriered, as long as my medical (later on in the day) was all ok. It took roughly 5 minutes, and i was never asked for any evidence of our relationship.

A job well done, now i am travelling on my visa on 10th december on a 1 way flight! Finally the hard part is over.

That was quick and easy. Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi,

USCIS 1800 375.5283

That is worrying, so you have no idea if your packet even arrived?

I never got my NOA (I assume this is what you meant by receipt) either, which was worrying enough.... but I knew my packet arrived because I sent it return receipt requested and I recieved the confirmation of the delivery from the post office plus I knew the check had cleared my bank (it cleared 11 days after I mailed it)....so luckily, I was not totally in the dark. I phoned USCIS and they told me the same thing, no help with out a case number...the WAC case number is on the back of the canceled check....but the scanned copy of my check was illegible (and the origional had been destroyed)....so, no letter, no check, no number, no help.... I had to wait 90 days...on the 91st I called again and got thru....got our case number....so they will help you BUT THREE MONTHS IS A LONG TIME!

Fingers are crossed for you, I hope they can advise you.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSeeking advice on K1 process
Hi Mark,

It looks like you've got a lot of helpful answers to you questions, I just wanted to add a quick note.

I am a USC, we filed in July, and I came to the Uk in October to be with my Fiance, so yes, you can see each other after you petition for the K1!

We also found this to be very daunting before we started the process....but once the packet is sent off it's mainly a waiting game.......where you have plenty of time to wish that you had started sooner instead of being intimidated and overwhelmed!

This website is an amazing resource, I am so thankful for it! I agree, if your case is straight forward you don't need an attorney, most any questions can be answered by a quick "search and read" on this site.....and if not you can always ask. It took some time and patience to get all the info together (but we would have had to do that anyway, even if we hired an attorney). We follow the instruction provided on this site, they are very thorough, and as recommended we use registered mail (return reciept) and a personal check. Once it has gone you start to worry, this way we knew that (and when) it arrived and once the check cleared we knew it has been opened at the service center.

I hope you decide to get started soon.

Good Luck!

We were notified last March 15 that our file was being transferred to the local office. We've had 3 infopass appointments, made 3 inqueries to our Senator's office since and all we've gotten is, "your file is here and still pending". We were told to wait 180 days and now its way beyond that already.

Is it true though that when you do an inquiry either via congress or senate, that they are suppose to help you find out what is causing the file to be held up or atleast let you know if there is any problem whatsoever. The stupid part about it is, they just say it's pending. We know that already, but we want to know why it's pending. Does authorizing them in accordance to Privacy Act help them get info of your case at all?

Hello Bungeegirl

I'm a K-3 filer but I see your case is at CSC. When I called USCIS, an immigration officer told me that the only way I could contact CSC would be by fax.. she gave me the fax # (she also advised me to be sure to include my case # and inquiry) but for the life of me.. I cant find it now sad.gif ..But you can call them and get that number. Perhaps you've already tried this..I dont know. I can't even imagine your frustration.. you both are in my prayers.

Hey all,

My name is Tom and I've been on the hunt for as much K1 information as possible since I proposed a couple of months back, what I am now looking for is some opinions on my situation as there are no definate yes or nos.
I have been to the USA twice to see my girlfriend, once in november 06 for 2 weeks, then again for 3 months at the very end of April during which time I proposed. Now I've been back in the UK for a while, and the main reason I'm posting is because both times I went out to the USA, I was 'flagged' and my stuff was searched and they asked a LOT of questions.

Now, I'm English, from the UK and there is no way I look suspicious. I did not lie when they asked me what was my reason for entering the states, and I said it was to see my girlfriend. I thought this was perhaps it but many people have done the same and been let straight through.

Either way, getting flagged twice definately isn't good, and while the fiance visa is being processed (for which we are hiring a lawyer) I want to go back out there on a VWP again so that I can see her while it's being processed.. lets face it, waiting 6 or even 8 months to see your fiance is not nice sad.gif

Does anybody see that there will be a problem? I will have proof that I have no intent to get married on this visit (Lawyer bill showing us filing for K1 the right way) and that it's just a case of me not being able to wait so long before I can see her.

Thanks for taking the time to read, and please let me know of your thoughts smile.gif

I'm a bit confused, did you file the K1 already, or will have by the next time you go back??

In terms of being "flagged", I am Australian and regularly get the 'SSSS' on the corner of my boarding pass. This means you go through the crazy extra extra security. This has nothing to do with what you say when you go through immigration, happens (supposedly) randomly before you even check in...

You can enter on the VWP, it's completely fine. Just remember: don't lie, but don't offer up any extra info. Have a return ticket and proof of ties to the UK, (a copy of the I-129F packet is a good idea too), and you should be fine.

In the "Last 5 Year's Residence" section, several of the city names are too big to fit into the space allotted.

How should I handle this? Just fill it in and have it truncated when printed, or leave it blank and hand write it in (It won't be very legible)? Something else entirely?

I tried doing a search before posting this, and didn't see any similar questions.

We attached a supplemental sheet to mine, writing "See Attached". I live in central america and my address is more of a description! 100 metres past the supermarket, 200 metres east of the house with the red roof....etc etc

I thought they were talking health insurance. I don't think I could add my fiancee as the beneficiary for my life insurance as they ask for a ssn.

You can add whoever you like as a beneficiary. When I was on a J1 visa a few years ago, I had life insurance through work. My Mother in Australia was my beneficiary. If they don't have a SSN, you just leave it blank. Easy good.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 in process, now possibility of L1
I knew this would happen!

I have been waiting and waiting for 5 months for an appropriate opportunity to transfer within my company on an L1 visa (from Costa Rica to FL). Nothing came up, so we started the K1 process instead. Now, not even a month after we filed the petition, the job I want has come up! ARGH - damn those evil powers who play with us!!

So my question is:
My understanding is that you can file an immigrant petition and a non-immigrant petition at the same time (not sure if that's true), however I'm pretty sure L1 is "dual intent" or at least it was, so does that negate the "two at once" theory?? Anyone have a clue?

Hello all! Someone mentioned something about CFO training on this board and, from what I understand, it has something to do with a passport being stamped?

My fiance received her K1 Visa yesterday and was told by the delivery man that she must attend some "counseling" that she was supposed to have before her passport was issued. She's to go to Manila and, from what she told me, visit two different offices.

Is this "counseling" meant to be CFO training?

Hi Vann!

I bought my ticket from my travel agent in the Philippines last April and it cost us USD 895.00 plus Php 1620.00 travel tax. My route was MANILA to LAX then LAX to Jacksonville and I used Philippine Airlines and Delta. I entered with K1 Visa without any problem. LAX POE interview was very smooth. They usually asked same questions as the Manila USE interview. That's my experienced till my AOS interview.

I suggest let her buy the ticket in the Philippines because its much cheaper. Just tell her to search for at least 3 travel agents and compare the prices.

Relax smile.gif her visa is good for 6 months so its ok you have lots of time to prepare for her homecoming.

God Bless

Lily

Thanks for your help! I noticed by your timeline your arrival in the US was April and you said you bought the ticket in April. What date did you buy it? I'm asking because my baby is coming at the end of January and she probably won't be able to buy the ticket until the end of December. When it rains it pours, I tell you *Sighs*....

My fiance heard reports on the news about some filipinas being turned back once they land on US soil even though they had visas. Well, in this situation it was two women with tourist visas.

My fiance (and now I) is worried that she may be detained at the first US port of entry airport because of hearing all this news.

Does she have any reason to fear? Should she be fine? How do they generally look upon those who arrive with fiance visas?

I have something new to worry about now. *Sigh*.... unsure.gif

This process can bring about such unbearable stress at times...

Also--I'm looking for the best flying method. Is there ANY website that would allow ME to purchase HER ticket so that all she would have to do is get an E-ticket from Manila airport or will she be required to buy a ticket from Manila airport herself?

I need advice on these urgent matters, please, as I trust those who went through the experiences much more than anything else.

I hope to put my worrying at ease. sad.gif
