I was wondering how that turned out for you! If I may, did you get a super great last minute deal???? I find my plane ticket to BWI from Air Canada has SKY rocketed lately. I hate those mangy bxstards at Air Canada.

Anyway, glad you guys worked something out, it's horrible having the weather and canceled flights have an impact on your visiting with your spouse.

Good luck< Wyatt and have a super fun time.

as if you won't!!!

Yeah, Anna and I haven't been apart for more than five weeks since we got married...and we won't be. I'm flying down to Washington D.C. tomorrow (totally last minute...she was coming here, but her flight through Denver got nixed), then to spend Thanksgiving with her and her parents in Buffalo. Then she's got a flight booked to come up here for Christmas...but if some sort of progress happens with our immigration case (i.e.: I get an interview) then things will change, of course.

But despite the fact that we're both very independent people, we can't stand to be apart. I mean, we tolerate it since we have to...but it does eat at us. I'm sure the same is true for pretty much everyone here though or else...well...they wouldn't be here!

Hey, it's fine. Honestly. I have my days where I feel all lonely and clingy etc. and I miss her horribly. And vice versa. But usually we can just steel ourselves to the process and take what we can get.

Nothing beats being together though. I've always been comfortable in my own skin, but never in the same way as I feel when I'm with her.

YOu guys want to hear something odd? I am not a phone person at all -- in fact I hate it! I used to call him a lot more often but since we're both not very into the telephone, we rarely make calls. I will once in awhile but yeah, anyone else find that?
I find the phone has always made me feel a little awkward!

CanadaThings you do with your spouse / S.O. while apart
We are in contact pretty much all the time, every day and I keep him posted as to where I am and what I'll be doing just in case something happens to me. Exchange funny things we've read or seen that day, we used to play Cribbage on line but haven't for awhile. But just basically chat all through out the day and such. I'm much more chatty than he is though! biggrin.gif

I think that's pretty much it. It's funny hearing/reading all this but it just goes to show that if two people are compatible and have the gumption for it, you can make it work. But, I will also reiterate that living in fairly close proximity makes it easier to deal too -- I'm not sure if I could go months and months or even a year without seeing him -- I always find that when we see each other again, it's such feeling of relief.

you know?

That's a really nice thing to say huggles -- I don't begrudge anyone anything but it changes a bit once you're married and I agree, why wouldn't they hasten the process just a bit for those of us who already are and especially since, there is never that many of us compared to Fiance visas. Not to say give priority or anything because things should be fair. But, if they can process close to 20 K1 (only off this site) should they not be able to process a similar number of CR1s?
That's all.
It's all I'm saying.
smile.gif

QUOTE (Hugglebuggles @ Oct 30 2009, 11:47 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Ya know, as a K-1 I feel like I can say this, and no offense intended against my fellow K-1 visa holders out there... But I don't understand why a fiance(e) would be given a priority interview date over a husband/wife. Sure, the waiting is difficult no matter what the nature of your relationship is, but I can only imagine how difficult it would be to live the first year of your marriage (sometimes longer) away from your spouse. You'd think that they would offer CR-1/IR-1 interviews at a little faster pace. I understand there were a lot of K-1's who waited an awful long time to be granted an interview, and they deserved the date, absolutely, but seeing K-1's who sent their packets back this past month having dates while there are still Cr-1 people waiting from August/September even makes me a little ticked off. I didn't really care or understand the distintion when I was going through the process, but now as a married woman I couldn't even imagine living thousands of miles away from my husband. Life as a newly wed is great, missing out on that would be so crappy.

Sorry you're having a hard time with this Lgg. I can only imagine what you're feeling. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! Hopefully you get a December date, you deserve it!

It's so, so weird but my husband and I just finalized plans for his visit up her to see me in a few weeks and I always find that when the plan is set and we have great, fun, rollicking conversations about what's to come with us, it makes me miss him and our little family even more!!! It's crazy! I'm such a heaving weirdo!

BTW, you and your wife are adorable. I peeked at your picture.
I am thrilled when I hear people being able to see and visit each other -- that is one the one great thing about it, we're not THAT far away, a visit is always possible.

I feel like a hell lamenting my own situation knowing full well what yours was like. But I do suppose that this journey makes us more auto-focused than we'd normally care to be.
I do shed many a tear (at work sitting at my desk unfortunately). I keep myself focused though and move ahead and I wish us all like despite our short or long timelines. thank you very much for your kind/generous words. I am also very happy to know that your journey is almost complete.

You guys are the best.
I hope you're all right -- sometimes I get so angry and frustrated with Montreal but as you know, there's nothing I can do. I can't read any other thread where people complete at NVC and get an interview assigned like a week or so later.

But all in due time I suppose. And thanks for all your kind support, it actually means quite a lot....

I'd tell you all I loved you but that would just be SO weird...

Yeah. That's actually what makes me the saddest -- like I said, my husband and I? We're golden but that little girl waiting for me? I cannot explain how it wrecks me inside. I don't have my own children and she may be the closest I'll get. I feel like I'm letting her down by not being with her because though smart, she's still young enough that she doesn't understand why I'm not there yet.

Biggest heartache ever, that.

And again, I thank you all for letting me vent - I know I come across sometimes as a whiny baby -- and I hope not so much so but t his is the only place where I can say these things
where I'll be understood, save for the conversations with my guy....

smile.gif
Thanks everyone -- I appreciate it.

CanadaDid Montreal Forget About us...
So, was talking to my husband today and he was saying that his daughter, (whom i love like no other person) was asking why can't LGG just come and live with us? Why do we have to wait so long?
When is she going to get here...

I have to tell you? It freaking broke my heart into a million pieces. I mean, it's crappy enough when my husband is like, "gaaaaaah, we didn't get an interview AGAIN?" but he and I, we deal with it. It's depressing and hard but we're fine. But thinking about my little sunshine girl saying stuff like that and not getting was totally heartbreaking to me.

I'm only going on about it here because I know you guys can relate. I know you all understand what it feels like. It also feels like to me that it's going to be one of those months that NVC doesn't schedule any CR1 interviews and such. Most months when they do, they've started already by now and well... it feels like we've been forgotten about again. I'd even be happy if I saw some of my other Canadian CR1s who finished before get an interview.

With the influx of people on here lately talking about how they are A.O.Sing, whether they are legitimate or not, I don't care anymore, sometimes makes me so envious that I almost can't read the posts without feeling sorry for myself. There. I said it.

Anyway. Its' getting really hard, this waiting. But I just wanted to say something -- you guys get it. I know that no one can tell me anything to make me feel better but sometimes it just feel good saying it to people who understand.

Thanks for listening.

Thank you thank you thank you everyone! Thank you for all the good wishes and kind words.

I got home to TO really tired and sleep was what I needed most I guess smile.gif Not sure it really registered with me that I was approved yesterday...until maybe my first coffee today smile.gif In a sense the long wait and all the stress of unknown dates and outcomes builds up like a plot in Greek theater and few minutes of an interview and brief congratulations from the consul just doesn't cut it for good catharis laughing.gif

Let me comment on some of your congratulations wink.gif

Lgg, the moment you get your interview I will be jumping up and down with you! Drinks in Lil Italy included!

Trailmix, not getting married for all these 7 years wasn't that difficult wink.gif and definitely saved me from going though a few divorces cool.gif

Steve Treible, I guess we did have the same CO at the interview. One way or another, I still do not understand why he said you would need advance parol to return to the US if you leave before your plastic green card arrives...doesn't make sense. Btw, did you get your passport back?

Darkchilde794, as soon as I get my envelope back with passport I will let you know if NEXT AM is worth the money paid for it wink.gif

CanAmerican, it seems like everyone was really nice at the consulate, starting from the guards on CO finishing...I guess if you come early enough they will not be pissed off yet by all the disorganized applicants wink.gif Truth be told, it is so obvious who was from VJ in the consulate...we had our docs in order to be presented, we knew what will follow so no need to be extra anxious, etc.

IR5FORMUMSIE, that's pure luck I didn't have to wait longer wink.gif Watching Visa Bulletin each month is like looking into a crystal ball smile.gif You never know what you gonna get...or was that a box of chocolates and life...I am so confused from all that long wait LOL

Ant+D+A, yeah family-based aren't as straight forward as it seems and neither are the issues of citizenship...It's just a mess and that's why they need a reform! One way or another I ended as the only one in my family who was without the US passport...with all the changes at the border we were made acutely aware that it might have serious consequences for our family if this situation continues...one day some border dude might just say that I can't come back home to NY and that's that...

Hugglebuggles, and this links to your question of whether it was worth it...I guess I will be able to tell you in a few years smile.gif At this point it just felt that it needs to be taken care of as soon as possible...coming back to NY from a visit to Europe always was a painful memory...my whole family swiftly going through the immigration for the US citizens, and me lining up somewhere else to be admitted to the US as a tourist...not to mention that at the border you are always an intending immigrant, so if traveling to the US to visit your SO is difficult while waiting for your interview and visa, this is even worse coz it's taking so damn long. Luckily throughout all these years there was only one time when I had an incident at the border (driving to Boston-Peace Bridge), and not because I didn't have the right paperwork, I actually had too much wink.gif

Milimelo, it's true but there are other cases when kids born to US citizens (meaning being US citizen at the time of a child's birth) aren't US citizens...I never thought of myself as an immigrant, my great grandma was an immigrant when she left Europe for the US...but actually going through this whole immigration process bureaucratically boxed my identity into 'an intending immigrant' category LOL

Again, thank you all for all the best wishes...and don't ya hope I'd be leaving VJ any time soon smile.gif My mad theories (like almost forgotten MAST) and the bad jokes will linger on wink.gif
