United KingdomApplying for permanent residence and K3/K4
I believe you have to apply for a K3 visa for your wife to enter the U.S., then you apply for an Adjustment of Status.

As far as I know that is the only way your wife and child can move to the U.S. Of course they can visit on the VWP--but if they enter the U.S. on the VWP with intent to live here permanently, that would be fraud.

United KingdomUK medical data advice
Some people schedule their medical for the same day as their interview to avoid making two trips to London. Then they have to wait until their medical results get to the Consulate before a decision is made about the visa. My husband's interview was two weeks after his medical and they had the results, so it doesn't take long for them to arrive.

I think it is less stressful to have the medical done ahead of time. Then when you go for your interview, they can tell you right away if you're going to get the visa.

We were approved this morning too!

Congratulations to Tim and Bethanie!

 Congratulations!!!! You guys have the 30 minute delay as well?

Yes, Stephen said he didn't get to enter the embassy until 11:00, although his appt. was for 10:30.
After he called(and woke me up--it was 5am here in California) I ordered our wedding invitations. There is so much to do now that we are done waiting!

As long as you are updating....
pnd629 sent in packet 3 today--6/16 and the medical is booked for 7/26.

I am going over for a visit in July, so we are going to play tourist in London for a couple days when Stephen goes to do his medical. I've never been to London, any advice?

United KingdomMarrying in USA, then settling in the UK - HELP!

You should not need a K1 visa if you do not intend to live in the USA after the wedding. A friend of mine recently went into Texas on a visa waiver for his wedding (with evidence of his planned return ot the UK) and they were both back in the UK 2 weeks later.
I would suggest exploring this option as it is A LOT easier!!!!!

I agree. If you are not planning to live in the US, you don't need a fiance visa--but the USC will need papers to immigrate to the UK.

it all comes down to patience guys...there must be a good reason they are not processing quickly. i mean we have no control over how long it takes so we might as well learn to be patient, although its a pain in the ### sometimes. blah.

USCIS Service CentersFor my fellow CSCers in waiting
I did this twice within 2 weeks and was told not to do it again because I had emailed them again so soon after the first time. I think its better just to wait because it seems that if u keep pestering them they don't like that.

USCIS Service CentersCSC People in waiting!

For all of you waiting out there, here's a little something I heard when I got lost in CSC's automated phone system:

They "process cases in the order they are received so as not to make customers wait." I found that very interesting, given how many NOA2s there have been lately for people who submitted in late February or March!

I still don't understand. I probably never will.

I don't think its even worth the time to try and understand how CSC operates. It's a waste of energy because there is no consistency to anything whatsoever. I'm still waiting from Jan 26. To think there is someone waiting from Jan 4 (visrit) is just gut wrenching. I really don't know if they realize they are toying with people's lives here or what. Ah well......guess the name of the game is patience.

:( I'm still waiting too. Jan 26th.........so looong ago man!

I know... someone else is still waiting from January... the good thing is that your cases have been touched recently which meaaaannnss... NOA2!!! so keep up the good faith.... and maybe when they approve you they will move to Feb cases!

They seem to already be doing some February cases. I swear the system they use sucks. Do it by date...that's my suggestion. Oh well. You know with the government they rarely listen. Blah. Good luck to ya.

Hi stacey,

How do you contact the CSC? And what should I ask them. I would like some answers too, when it comes to the visa. Its like you keep looking each day for something, but still NOTHING. All I want is to see a little change in the process, even if it's just something small.

Um . . . didn't you just file - LESS THAN 30 DAYS ago? Your NOA2 date in in JUNE. Are you kidding? Try a little patience.

Since you filed in Nebraska, why would you want to contact California?

kitkat-June is her NOA1. Big difference!

June, you are freaking worried about an noa2 already and u just got ur noa1 in JUNE?? LOL Sorry I had to laugh. I get a kick out of ppl complaining who haven't even been waiting that long. You are going to need plenty of patience if you are to go through this honey. I've been waiting 144 freaking days! Ya big difference.

 I emailed CSC again. They didnt respond for a few days and then today they did only to tell me to wait another 45 days again. Sigh. I know its an automatic responce or whatever but geez!!!! I don't think Jon has heard from his senators either. I don't like to whine about it but damn its not easy!!!!

I'm sorry. Has he tried his congresspeople AND senators? Your case should be a top priority!

Well his congressman was kicked out of office and jailed so they had to swear another one in and there was no contact info for him yet so the fiance just skipped and went to the senators.

I don't know but they better not process the May petitions and start handing out noa2s or I'm gonna blow a gasket. Seriously, deal with all the ones that are still waiting and don't skip ahead to the chosen few.

Okay, apparently, my husband tells me the beans we got at our Safeway (which were Heinz and look just like the ones he would get in England, which he excitedly bought when we saw Safeway selling them) tasted nothing like the ones from England and were too sweet *grin* I stand corrected. Anyway, House of Windsor is another possibility, and my husband did say the have the Proper Beans for sure at the Cost Plus World Market down in our area at least. There is one in Boulder as well you might try:

1685 28th Street Boulder, CO 80302

Thanks! I did find them at world market on 28th st.(you can read all about this exiting shopping trip upthread), but sad to say I was there yesterday and they do not have them now - must be a once in a while thing. So I am going to maybe try some of the online places suggested here - thank you!

Wow five pages, eh?? I now know that if I need some fun reading, all I have to do is come over here to the UK forum and start a food dialogue.

With that said, I mentioned to Mum that I had found Heinz beans, and she asked if I saw any of the Heinz Curry Beans in my travels, because she can't even find those in Canada. Although I just usually put some curry powder in them and I think they taste the same.

Also, what about self raising flour (I have not looked very hard for this yet though)?

I love heinz beans and I didn't think I would find any that tasted the same.... BUT I bought some Bush beans... They were a certain flavour.. I can't think what now! But they really didn't taste all that different! They could have been the original ones...

And yes... We do like talking about food biggrin.gif Not as much as duvets though kicking.gif

So true - and I love it! This is the oddest forum, but I like to think it reflects what is truly important in the average Briton's life. tongue.gif

Well, I am glad I could bring about this discussion on such a relevant and important topic....thank you all so much for your insightful, timely commentary on this hot-button issue....I clearly came to the right place!

If any of you are ever interested in lively debate over Tim Horton's coffee and the lack of US equivilant, the wonder of never-ending soda refills, the weather, or the correct way to spell things or use your knife and fork, please feel free to venture over to the Canadian forum.

ohmy.gif How did I not realise that the Canadians are so similar to us?

We are a very confusing blend of similar and not similar:)

Okay, I just got some at World Market. They only had two tins left and they were dented and they were $1.79 each but I still bought them. And I am eating some RIGHT NOW on toast and they are delicious. I also bought a Turkish Delight which I ate immediately in the car despite my "only eat chocolate at home" rule. You can only get that at specialty shops in Canada too, so it was an extra treat.

I kind of agree with what someone said earlier about Target being kind of just a bit glossier than Walmart with fancy marketing, and cleaner, but not *really* that different (maybe a bit trendier stuff) but I don't care, I still love, love, love it:). I can spend hours in there and I often do, since I'm not yet working. Sad, right??
