^ Wowsers. $2000. He'd better start collecting popcans. But hockey is a great team sport. Make sure you buy him a mouth guard to protect those teeth. good.gif

Hockey isnt cheap!! Guess thats why soccor is picking up steam in canada, so less $$$$ Be happy he isnt a goaltender, even more $$$$$ I played out all my life for the most part, but filled in at goal from time to time! When I moved down here,i switched to goal. As well goalies normally play for free in the adult rec leagues, as well as drop in hockey, so wife thought that was a good deal, lol I didn't bother to mention how $$$$ new goal equipment is,lol
Best of luck to the little guy!

I heart.gif Degrassi! I met Joey at Fairview mall in Montreal like 17 years ago, I got his autograph and thought I was soooo cool!

I had a such a crush on him growing up. But when he cheated on Kate, I lost my love.

Thanks for the coffee charles, that sign doesn't seem very friendly.

Well I was up at the crack of dawn, woke up a bit then started to think about houses.

We went to see this one last night - a foreclosure - what they didn't mention in the description "A few repairs will bring its charm back" is that before the people left they tore out the kitchen and the central air-conditioning/heater.

When I say tore out I mean the kitchen is empty - they even took the cupboards, counters and sink (and cut some of the wiring).

Now normally I would just allow for that in the offer and fix it up myself - however! - the bank will not lend us the money for a house in that state - they are really tight - kind of a 'big brother'-ish thing.

Good morning!

Thats very common for a foreclosure!! Just before people loose the house, they gut it--and sell what they took out!!! As well dealing with banks on a foreclosure can be a big pain in the butt, things tend to move at a much slower pace!! Best of luck

I agree - you have done well Flames, I hope you are very proud of your accomplishment!

I know you have worked hard and yet, like Carla mentioned, you are always here for everyone - even if it's just to share a laugh - I certainly do appreciate you.

And just remember when you head up to visit the homeland in May:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. Never lie to the POE officer
2) Be confident in your replies
3) Keep your response short and to the point, don't tell your life story!
4) Look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lying and have been trained to find them
5) Pack light! No job resumes with you.
6) Bring proof of ties to Canada (letter from employer showing when you are expected back at work, lease, etc etc)
7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get you anywhere, and could make things worse!!
8) Have a plan in case you do get denied (be polite). It wont harm your visa application if you are denied, that is if you're polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

well (unfortunately, lol) am a USA citizen, so I can lie now, and they can't just kick me out, spend time in jail/fine, sure, but can't kick me out, lol. thanks all

oh okay... I knew we have to do something...
So we do that after we have been married 2 years??
Thanks so much for all your help TM!!

congrats!! Nope, not if u enter the POE with less than 2 yrs of marriage, ur stuck with it good for 2 yrs! On ur greencard--which u get in the mail--there will be an EXPIRATION date (which should be 2 yrs from the date u entered the USA) 90 days PRIOR to that date, you will file the I-751, too easy to do. But thats down the road! Now if you enter the USA 2yrs or more oh being married, then u should get the 10 yr greencard!

CanadaPOE Experience - fun but left me w/ questions
When I crossed over in dec 2004 to activate the CR-1 (maine) they had no clue either. They had to get out this big book, then they decided they best contact another POE and ask them, lol But it all worked out in the end, and they were very friendly

cr-1 does NOT need EAD, the K3 DOES need EAD!!

I was a cr-1 so not sure about the EI thing for a K3. Others that have gone the k3 route have ahd to wait til they were work authorized to collect EI. BUT you should still apply right away, its just that you won't get any $$$$ until ur legally able to work, and that is when u get the EAD.

CanadaCONFESSION TIME....NEED ADVISE!!!
Ok, I didn't go the K1 route, but the CR-1 route. When the time came for me to file the I-751, my lawyer emailed me and stated she would do it for $1000.00. How nice of her. I took me at MOST 20 minutes to fill out the paperwork! Again, thats at most, more likely 10 minutes! Plus I had to put together some evidence of our relationship, some utility bills, mortgage, again, maybe took me 20 minutes to put together! Very easy, and on my OWN!! You can do it!

CanadaGood Immigration Lawyers in Montreal?
We used a lawyer, she was good, but what a WASTE of $$$$$$ In straight forward cases al they are are $$$ proof readers, that is it! They do NOT speed up the process--my lawyer even old us that! Look over the guides here ,as ask all the questions you want for free, and save the $$ for a holiday!

Most immigration attorneys offer a free consult, contact a few of them and see what they have to say, if they all say the same thing, then should be a close case

Really? 2 months....that would be fine by me.

I still have some debts to pay off and although I don't want to be away from him longer than i have to at least that means I would still have some time to work and make some more money to save and pay off those bills.

I guess if its 2 months and I sent all my paperwork in by august that I would have an interview in somewhere in oct.
Thats not so bad.

keep in mind the above poster isnt going through Vancouver or Montreal.so time wise things could be different. A zillion posts on Cdns visiting while undergoing the POE process, and the majority never have a problem, just tell the truth and don't tell your life story, and ties to canada. best of luck
