Overcast and muggy day here in RI! Plan to study outside today. Nothing like being outside with a cup of coffee, studying and hearing the waves smack against the shore. Later on, go and get me a XL Timmies coffee. I must admit, they taste a lot better this yr. $2.11 gets a 24 oz coffee.

When I got the narcotics question my husband said I should have counted my fingers and answered, uh, no, not in the last 6 months! - I think it's funny but I would never dare to say it!

Thank you, I am sure we'll have a good time - especially if the sun comes out.

I can send free fog to anyone interested, the weather is horrible here. I left Montreal, it was warm and sunny... and I saw Boston under the worst fog and cold, haha, it's... refreshing!

I'm visiting RI, and the weather has been cool, with lots of rain!! suppose to be warm/sunny for the weekend

Hung out at The Tim Hortons in Newport RI while my car was at Toyota getting serviced, and got to de-virginize a new employee! I was the very first customer that she served coffee to, I told her no pressure, I'm a Canadian that loves his Tim Hortons, lol and they now have a "XL" hot coffee size, and it is BIGGER than a Canadian XL. I guess to compete with Dunkins XL, they required a bigger size. And I must say the coffee did taste better than the last yr. I'm on my second XL of the day, lol. I think she stated it was 24 oz.

Beautiful day in RI, prob around 17C, slight breeze by the water and no humidity. Had my Awful-Awful from the Newport Creamery yesterday, yummy!!!! http://www.newportcr...om/icecream.asp

Canada10 months to citizenship. I am going to do it.

Hi Everyone,

If you're interested, you can read about my Citizenship Ceremony Experience here....
ANT IS AN AMERICAN CITIZEN! OATH CEREMONY DETAILED STORY…., (11/23/09) My Immigration Journey Is Over…3+ years and 2500 posts later
http://www.visajourn...h...=230818&hl=

Words to the oath, as mentioned in the above link...
DO: Now this is the part that you repeat after me. I’ll go through this line by line…
Ant: Ok..
DO: I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen
Ant: (repeats after the DO…)
DO: That I will support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic
Ant: (repeats after the DO…)
D: (takes a photo with the camera)
DO: That I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same
Ant: (repeats after the DO…)
DO: That I will bear arms on behalf of the United States when required by the law
Ant: (repeats after the DO…)
DO: That I will perform noncombatant service in the Armed Forces of the United States when required by the law
Ant: (repeats after the DO…)
DO: That I will perform work of national importance under civilian direction when required by the law
Ant: (repeats after the DO…)
DO: And that I take this obligation freely without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; so help me God.
Ant: (repeats after the DO…)
D: (takes another photo with the camera)
DO: Congratulations. You are now a US Citizen. Here is your certificate and flag (gives me the certificate, a USCIS brown envelope to put the certificate in, along with a small American flag).

(note: mine was a private oath ceremony that was conducted one-on-one and only lasted 15-20 mins total, which was somewhat 'different' from the traditional group oath ceremony, but nevertheless, it's almost the same thing...lol..just imagine a traditional oath ceremony wiht 30-2000 people instead and with more hoopla and pomp and circumstanes, and lasting for much longer for about 2-4 hours for the actual ceremony..)

Maybe this will help you decide as to whether or not you want to "take the plunge to US Citizenship" or not...;)

Hope this helps too. Good luck on your immigration and citizenship journeys...

Ant

I do not believe the traditional oath ceremony is 2-4 hrs! Mine was little over 30 minutes in the fairfax VA office with around 100 people. I htink the whole whole process lasted just over 2.5 hrs! 2 hrs of it was just sitting around, lol When u first got there u sta there, then u lined up and handed in the 1 peice of paper, showed ID and hande dover ur green card. then more waiting and waiting. then ushered up the the ceremony room, wher eu waited and waited, and the actual ceremony was little over 30 minutes in length. Bring a good book to read!

Canada10 months to citizenship. I am going to do it.

For me personally, I could not take citizenship, any citizenship if I had no plans to uphold the oath of citizenship you take. Becoming a citizen for convenience I find a bit crass, but that's just my opinion.

I highly respect that!!

Canada10 months to citizenship. I am going to do it.
As i said before, a few of us have no choice and I will leave it at that. So if I don't live up to the "pledge" not my fault, but I'm an honest tax paying citizen and have no prob bearing arms to defend the USA, but, yes, as i have stated before, i consider myself 100% Cdn. Biggest benefit, no more USCIS. No more worries about being denied entry to the USA. Now able to work some of the Gov't job only open to USA citizens. Gaining citizenships is a fairly easy process, best of luck. I type this in my Ruinning Room shirt that has "CANADA" stitched on the back, lol

CanadaResume post-immigration
On my resume I added a line at the end that stated i was legally able to work in the USA. Does 1 have to do that, no, BUT with all my work experience in Canada an employer may wonder if one is able to work in the USA legally. This let them know I could work legally,AND that they didn't have to do any extra paperwork to get me a "work" visa.

CanadaActivating K3 Visa

You don't need an EAD - K3 is multiple entry.

EAD has nothing to do with Entry. She wil need EAD to work. I'm sure other wil chirp in about the EAD with a K3, i was a cr-1, so not sure how that process goes
Flames9_RNMaleCanada2010-01-17 16:46:00
CanadaActivating K3 Visa
Jut to keep in mind, each POE experience is different, lol Each POE/guard at times seems to interpret the rules their own way, which just adds confusion/frustrations to the process
Flames9_RNMaleCanada2010-01-17 13:18:00
CanadaActivating K3 Visa
Not very familiar with a k3, but do believe you do not need AP to travel back and forth between USa/Canada, it is a multiple entry Visa. If thats the case you could enter in MArch and activate it. Keep in mind you have to activate it within 6 months of the date it was issued. Some have had Mtl just delay the issuance of the visa, but if you already have it,they may not be able to do that.
K3 and Ei don't mix very well, lol one has to wait til you get ur EAD before you can collect EI. Hindsight is 20/20,but in ur situation you prob should have went with the cr-1--as u applied in June 2009 and had a yr to do immigration. Best of luck

One shouldn't quit their job too far in advance of departing canada, as you may NOT be eligible for Employment Insurance (EI)!

CanadaNeed Help Deciding on Visa Type
I'm soon out the door, others wil chir p in, but since ur on the East coast, your interview will be in Montreal,Thsu that pretty much makes the k3 obsolete as it takes about the same time as the CR-1 and the CR-1 is a far superior visa, and its cheaper!!! k3 at 1 time was a faster route, BUT that hasn't been the case in awhile now! So u can pretty much cancel out the k3 route, lol in my lowly opinion anyways.

Ur options:

1) get the USA citizen to contact their congress person and have them inquire for you. Should be a real easy thing for them to do. And they like easy!!

2) email Mtl daily with ur case # in the subject line!! maybe send it from a different email, ie hotmail, as maybe its getting caught up in the server
