You just totally contradicted yourself in your two statements above. :P

I've always thought of it as "shuffleboard on ice". NTTAWWT...

To fully respect curling, one has to go and give it a try! They pros make it looks soo easy, but in reality it isnt! and to be a good sweeper, 1 has to be in shape, but yes the skip can be a fat bum,lol Well thats not totally true. But their was a huge uproaring yrs ago when Eddie the wrench Werenick was a bit too chubby, lol http://en.wikipedia....iki/Ed_Werenich

Hehehe. That's gotta be a thrill for you. :)

Yeah, I guess it's like me and baseball -- I love playing it, but I have a very difficult time sitting through an entire game.

I love playing ball too, but its far too slow to watch!!

CanadaHOOOOOOOOOOOCKEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEY

Exactly. At least in men's ice hockey, there are seven teams that I personally feel could challenge for Gold. And even the five "lesser" teams can put up a very good fight, as evidenced by Switzerland against U.S.A. yesterday.

Having said that, I DID just turn down a ticket to watch Switzerland vs. Norway yesterday... If it had been virtually any other pairing of teams, I would have jumped at it!

The (mens) Swiss placed higher in the last Olympics than both Canada and the USA!!

I'm just not sure how 1 can justify womens hockey allowed, when only 3 teams are competitive, but take out womens ski jumping when more countries are competitive!!
Flames9_RNMaleCanada2010-02-17 10:58:00
CanadaHOOOOOOOOOOOCKEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEY

I kinda wish the hockey teams would suck a little more ... would make the games a little more exciting ..
unless you think a blowout is exciting ... but to me it makes it boring i'd rather watch a nail biter of a game ...

don't get me wrong it's good to win ..just don't like being bored watching it

Prob get flamed for this, lol but womens hockey should NOT be in the Olympics! There just isn't enough quality teams! Its pretty much a 3 country tournament, Sweden, USA and Canada! makes more sense to have the women ski jumper competition than W. Hockey in the Olympics! Canada kicked butt on what team was it this week 18-0! And that team beat another team 87-0!! crazy! Just isnt enough skilled countries for womens hockey to be in the Olympics as of right now.

Canada Men played well last night, some real nifty passing took place.

Canadainterview in montreal
As many have stated, the interview is 99.9999% of the time the easiest part of the whole process. Most of ur time at the consulate is spent waiting around! The interview itself is lucky to last 10 min, and most of that time is spent by the officer looking over ur paperwork! What some have done to calm their fears is list the on VJ what stuff they have ready for the interview, and others chirp in to see if they have missed anything

That was in Jan 2003. Didnt make the best time as was driving thru a blizzard thru a portion of it!! If ya have a GPS, one can download all the Tim Horton stores into it,lol

CanadaWhy Canada Sucks....
Grew up in PA sask, "city" of 25000, so not much traffic there, or anywhere in sask. really, lol! Then resided in Victoria for nearly 10 yrs, and again not much traffic, more so that at I ran the 2 miles to work and back. Then resided in Greenwood, NS, town of 5000, def no traffic. Now live in DC ouch!! lol! But funny story back in 2003 when wife and I were visiting New York for a few days enroute Newport RI. First day in downtown New York was at an intersection trying to make a right hand turn--that had no right hand arrow, and even though i was at the front, i just could not make the turn! as the people coming at me, seemed to be a steady line and it seemed as the light turned orange, they kept coming AND the people on the left were making the turn coming across from me! Just seemed like I had NO time to make the turn, lol I think I missed a light or 2, and the lady behind me gets out of her car, knocks on my window and states "I see your from out of town , welcome to new York, but honey, you have to move!! trust me, they wont hit you, they will stop!!!" lol Sure enough I followed her advice and they did stop!! Wife has stated from that day one I became just another jerk on the road, much more aggressive and have found the love for the horn, lol

CanadaAmerican Banking
lot of the banks in the USA will give ya a $100 or more to open up an acct. Some orf them you have to make at least 3 or more transactions, keep the acct open for a certain period or use the auto bill pay feature, nothing thats too hard to do. Suntrust has a $150 offer right now I believe

what i stated above--was to "fool" that tax software program into not giving you any credits/deductions!

CanadaYay for filing taxes in two countries.
yrs ago when i did my Cdn taxes, and was married (wife in USA,, never worked/lived in canada)--I called revenue canada, they told me to put in 000 000 000 for my USA Wifes sin and to ensure her income was more than whatever the personal exemption was. Think it was around $12000??? Doing it that way ensured I would NOT get any credits/deductions from her or for her! I put in 40,000 just to be safe and I attached a letter explaining the situation. cant recall which tax software program i used!

CanadaPurchasing Property in USA?
One use form 8891 to report to the IRS that you have RRSP's! If ya have them one has to use that form! The IRS won't tax you on them (that is until/// if you withdraw them) BUT I have been told some States may tax you on them even if you just leave them untouched in Canada!

CanadaCanadian Degrees in the US?
One usually has to send their Cdn schooling to be assessed. A Cdn diploma program does not always equal an Associates degree in the USA. There are Diploma program in the USA as well. Many companies provide this service.

CanadaWelcome to USA Letter?
I dont recall getting anything from the consulate! One does get a 'welcome to the USA" letter in the mail 3-4 weeks after you enter the USA. many get multiple copies of it! Usually a few days later ur actual greencard appears, that is if one went the cr-1/ir-1 route

CanadaPolice Check and long form birth certificate questions

Hi there, I just want to confirm both sides of the record check form your fiance got are correct. I used to work in an RCMP detachment and those are the 2 main forms. :-)

Did ya work at the one in Nunavut?? The RCMP treated us well when i was there. We would bring in fresh produce for them! We would be at the hotel chilling and the locals would bring up art to sell to us at an inflated price--the RCMP would dicker for us,lol

no SSN after 10-14 days, just head to the local SSN office and ask about it! Be prepared to fill out a new application! 1 can download the form at http://www.socialsec...nline/ss-5.html The line at the SSN can be long, so best to get their early in the morning and wait for the doors to open!

Did ya stop at Wheeling WV for a timmies? lol Thats all I really saw of wheeling! I drove straight to the timmies, then left for home.

At least the weather is back to sunny now! Enjoy it now before the humidity hits.

CanadaWaiting, waiting and still...
It is best to wait 10-14 BUSINESS days after entering the USA! Many of us have taken our passport (with the visa in it)to the SSN office and had no problems, thats exactly what I did here in VA. They stated that no application had been received. She was about to send me to fill out a new application, which meant waiting more, but I gave her my already filled out form, showed her my visa and that was it. 1 week later the SSN came in the mail. made out of paper! Wish it was made out of plastic so it could be a bit more durable. I keep mine in the safety deposit box.
