VietnamPersonal issues re my Viet Nam girlfriend
; The "R" ratings you just mentioned, OP, are tons of RED FLAGS!

The fact that she had, so to speak, her "X-BF's" shirts in her closet after she said she moved on a long time ago and still have these in her "new" house.. Although, everyone keeps a little thing from their former GF/BF, right

Anyways, the fact that she hides so many things incl. contact with other guys from all around the World, sexy clothing, etc. Maybe she gets her money thru an online, you-know-what.

And also that she had contact with this guy she said she missed him and visa versa while she sent a picture, that you took, to him and yadee yadee yadee..

I mean, are you that blind to actually see what is going on?

& you don't have to tell each other all about your past, but the head lines from your past are more important. Detailed information ain't neccessary. And if you have a heart-to-heart conversation, maybe she'll make up things to cover her past.

All I'm saying, since she hasn't been honest from the very start, it's hard to believe what comes out of her mouth now

If I were you, I wouldn't file the K1 yet, or cancel it, until you both are ready to do so.

She lives way above from what she can afford, and there might be a big chance that other guys pay her as well (webcam sex, or whatever), SINCE she only get paid +/- 350-500 dollars a month, like you mentioned before.

GOOD LUCK, and listen to your guts!!

VietnamGot pink at HCMC?
Scott,

My wife is from the north, and we were originally given a blue slip. Then we got the best lawyer in HCMC involved. I flew to Vietnam around the time period he thought she would get her Visa. So we flew to HCMC and waited. The lawyer met with the CO and discussed our case, and was given a pink slip. He gave us the slip and was told to come back the next day to pick up her Visa. We went back the next day and the Visa was ready.

So my point is you can get the Visa the next day, because we did. Just don't know if our laywer was the only reason, or if your circumstance would dictate that. Our flight scheduled to come to the United States was 2 days after she got the Pink Slip. So the only way we could catch that flight is if they gave her the Visa the next day, which they did and we flew back to Hanoi that night. We woke up and had one day to say goodbye to everyone and flew to the US later that night.

Congrats and Good Luck!!!!

VietnamIntroducing New Expieriences to Fiancee
Like I said before my wife and I are in the Pittsburgh area if you decide to head down this way. There are a few places here, but for some reason I remember hearing Cleveland may have a bigger population of Vietnamese therefore they may have larger markets their. When my wife first arrived we took a trip out to Philly thanks to our friends living out that way. They have a large market area in Philly. We were able to get all the neccesities and stock up on a lot of the other stuff. It would probably be around 6 hrs for you. It was also great to show her another City.

Good luck on your journey together!!!!!

Congrats - thats awesome!!! I suspect it will take some time for her to adjust. It always seems like it is much easier to adjust going east than when traveling west. Give her all the time she needs!!! I'm heading home shortly because my butt is dragging big time today, I figure it will take a full two weeks to be completely adjusted back after 6 weeks in VN. I also hear Avatar is really good, sounds like a great idea. Were working on ways to integrate Eastern and Western foods into our new life together. I love Asian food so I'm looking for a good place to buy supplies, may have to travel to a larger market like Buffalo, Cleveland or Pittsburgh to get them (they are all about 1,5 to 2 hrs from Erie).

Will you be bringing her back or will she be making the journey here alone? Best Wishes for a safe journey. Let us know when she arrives and how things went through POE.

VietnamIntroducing New Expieriences to Fiancee
I know you must be excited about Tran coming to live with you. It is a great feeling. Your journey together can finally begin.

This is just speaking from experience. You just need to remember how fresh the seafood is in Vietnam. I remember taking my wife to Red Lobster for the first time. It does not compare to the fresh seafood she was used to eating. We haven't been back since. Also most Chinese restaraunts in the US have Americanized their food to our tastes. My wife prefers the more traditional Chinese food that isn't so sweet. We found a great Tokoyo Sushi buffet that serves a lot of Sushi and traditional Asian dishes that she loves.

You and Tran will have a lot of learning experiences after she settles in the US.

Tran will be here in 31 days on Feb 19th we do plan on going to a few of NAHL Hockey games. She is going to try and stay awake that day so we are on the same scheduleas far as sleeping. We are going to celebrate valentines day on the 21st. and then our annaversay a week later. She loves sea food so we are going to Red Lobster one of those days and the other day I will take her out to a good Chinese resteraunt. I hope Avatar is playing I heard it was good in 3D I would like to take her to that.

VietnamThuy's Interview @ HCMC
Scott,

I asked my wife what she submitted to prove no relationship existed between her and her ex. She said that she went to the local justice office where she lived and got a single status paper from them. It was signed by the justice and they also had the local guy that goes around to collect the money for the electric and water to sign this paper as he is very familiar with who lives with who.

Just for the record, my wife is from the North also and was also treated rudely when being interviewed. She used IOM to organize and prepare her for the interview and can you believe that they took out several key items, Divorce Decree, Tax Transcripts, my birth certificate and a few other items and told her she didn't need them and threw them in the trash can. My wife grabbed them out of the can, but did not include them with the other paper work as the lady told her she didn't need it.

Just remember, in the end you will be together as long as you stay focused and submit everything and anything that you can to address their concerns

I see the light, it is Pink.

It sounds like the kid or kids are hers from a previous relationship. If you read this original post again, he states her kids twice in his post. Also it mentions something about her kids and a biometric appointment. If that is the case I really feel bad for the kid or kids, since they probably have in the past and will continue to be raised by their mother in a bad environment.

well it was good while it lasted . i felt pretty lucky and happy except for a few thing i didnt agree with that we talked about the other night. first off theres alot of low class paople and druggers that work for her boss at chinese chef but my wife is friends with all of them and they all have her number becoz they are the only vietnamese in town.second she started going gambleing about a month ago on weekeds with her boss and boosses brothers all who own resterants and bosses brother in law and all the worker wich are all men that live in thwe bosses machines shed they have made into room for the workers
. my wife would get all sexy looking and go out and not come home until 6 am in the morning
. she says the boss gives everybody mone when he wins and she would come home with 300 dollars everytime. i work 3rd shift and really wasnt good for our relationship. i wanted her to be happy but i told her i didnt like it. my only nights off and she spend with them. I told her if she wanted anymore to do with them she didnt want me. iI said if i didnt trust her so much i would think she was a #######. she hit kicked me threw things at me and i swear i thought she would kill me. we have aloaded pistil in our house and i thought if she got it she would kill me so i toook it outside and out it in my truck . when i came back i layed down on my bed and later got up and the little girl asked wheres momm? i looked out on the front porch and every cop in town had a shot gun on me. she had called the police and siad i was going to kill someone and was in the house with a gun and her kids.thats when i knew we were done. the cops heard my story and found the gun in the truck unloaded and let me go. but now my wife left. she just got her 3 year green card and her kids just got there papers talking about there bio appointment. will she be able to stay in usa??? could she divorce me and remarry and stay. im so sick of wha she did to me i cant beleave it.

Sometimes it is so difficult for someone to see things clearly when they are blinded by love. What would be your opinion if this situation was happening to your friend?

I know that my wife or I would never put up with the other one going out with people of the other sex, whether it is for 2 hours or all night. More importantly neither of us would do so, because we both know that our marriage comes first in our lives and we both would not do anything to jepordize that.

Please don't blame yourself for someone elses actions. She is probably trying to make you feel this way.

I believe that you really need the support of a close friend during this time.

I really wish the best for you.

VietnamI-130 for Step Son
Good morning VJ family!

As you can see from my signature my wife is from Vietnam. When she was approved for her Visa her ex would not sign the release form for her son. A few months ago I posted that he finally agreed and I filed the necessary paper work. Yesterday I checked the USCIS website and the petition was approved  I posted this in the US citizen bringing family members to the US, but was hoping maybe someone from HCMC consulate had some experience with this.

I have a question in regards to the actual interview for my step son. My wife and I are living in the US and her son is living with her parents. Do we need to be present at the interview or is it possible for my wife's mother to take him to the interview and for us to arrive after he receives the visa? We were hoping we could come after he gets the visa because my wife's brother is getting married later in the year and we were hoping to make 1 trip for both.

Also any info about the actual interview would also be helpful.

Thanks as always!

VietnamIs it legal to bring certain gifts back from VN?
If I was dealing with simple items as these, I would not even question it. My concern is that there is a much bigger fine for trafficking endangered species. That is the issue I am worried about. If the snakes are not endangered I would definately not even worry about it, but I can't find a clear answer if the specific snake is endangered.

Here is the article I found online:

http://www.cnn.com/2...wine/index.html

The problem with the cobra has to do with endangered species list. I gues I shall contact homeland security, US customs, and border protection. The last thing we want to do is to do something illegal. We don't need her to get into any kind of trouble when trying to enter the US.

Thanks for the information.

i brought back both in my check in and no problems...if anything, check with the dept of homeland security...

Good evening my fellow Vietnam Visa Journey Members,

My wife wants to bring a few gifts back from Vietnam and wanted to know if any of you have any experience or knowledge.

At first she wanted to bring back a bottle of Snake Wine, but after a quick search, I found out this is illegal.

Now she is asking about a bottle of Scorpion Wine. I have not found any information whether it is legal or illegal.

VietnamHave you learned your SO's language?
I checked into Rosetta Stone also, and thought it was expensive. When I mentioned how much it was, we both felt it was too much when my wife can teach me for free. There are a few reasons I want to learn the language. First it would bring me and my wife closer, it would allow me to be closer to my in laws, and I am very involved in the Vietnamese community in our area.

I am glad that I am not the only one wanting to learn the language.

I am very interested in knowing how many of you have made a full effort in learning your SO's language? I am not just talking about how to say hello and goodbye, I am talking about being able to have a full conversation in your SO's language.

It has been something that I really want to do, and have bought a translation book and CD, but neither have been much help. My wife and I both work full time jobs and we haven't given this enough attention. We are setting aside time for her to teach me.

Has anyone had success in learing and if so what were your sources that taught you, if you don't mind sharing?

Thanks,

VietnamFIlling out address for someone in Vietnam
I have always had a difficult time figuring out how to write a Vietnamese address on the Immigration Forms.

We need to fill out the I-864 and DS-230 and would like input on the address:

The forms ask for:
Mailing address street number and name
City?
State/Province?

The problem I have is with the city, state/province
Do you list the ward and district andif so which box?
What goes in the city box and what goes in the State/Province box?

VietnamHello scottThuy
John, I am sorry, but how do you know this? Do you experiences with lawyers to prove this?

I have first hand experience using a lawyer with a very similar case as Scott's. Without using the lawyer I probably would have waited much longer for my wife to get her visa, and who knows, maybe denial. My wife was given a blue slip first interview. She came back and submitted what was asked and was given a green slip. At that point I hired a lawyer. Thankfully I did, because they had our case mixed up. He was able to help get the facts straight and provide the consulate with the needed paper work and VISA was approved!!!!!

He can sit there and wait and wait or hire someone that can keep things moving. That is just my opinion.

Whatever you choose Scott, I wish you the best of luck.

VietnamHello scottThuy
I am really sorry to hear the news. This is the time when you need to be most focused and level headed. Going to the consulate and making a scene is the absolute wrong decision. Of course things don't always go the way we think or wish, but we can't lose are calm and focus. Don't give them any more reasons to deny you the visa.

It is time that you make a call to the lawyer I mentioned to you. He will get to the bottom of all of it and make sure everything is understood and what is needed.

Good Luck!!!!

Thanks for the great advice.

My worries were this:
As for the mail, I am sending my Tax Information which shows my personal information. I just want to make sure that it gets to my step son without someone getting their hands on my information. I know when I sent stuff to my wife when she was still living in Vietnam the post office in Vietnam would open it up before she was there. I have heard that if they see something they like, it disappears. I think FedEx may be the safest.

As for the DS230 and supporting documents. This has been debated before that the decision of approval or denial is made before the beneficiary even interviews. If that is the case I want to make sure they have the information I stated to prove my relationship with the beneficiaries mother. So I think sending a copy of the information and stating the originals will be provided at the interview will be the best way to go. If NVC decides they want the originals of those documents, I will send them in.

Thanks,
Mike

Good Evening,

I posted this originally in the US Citizen Sponsoring a relative, but also thought it might be also a good idea to get input from those dealing with the specific Consulate I am dealing with. After concern about what document to submit taking into consideration what papers the HCMC Consulate requests at the interview and what papers I thought needed to be submitted with the DS230, I called NVC. This is what I was told:

Since my case is for a step-son (Age 9) relationship the papers required are as follows:

Copy of Biographic page of Beneficiary Passport
Certified Copy of Birth Certificate
Original or Certified Copy of Custody Paper regarding Beneficiary (Child Quit Claim and/or Custody Paper)
Passport Pictures

That is it. I asked about the Divorce paper between the Beneficiary's Mother (my wife) and her ex, and Marriage Certificate between Beneficiary's mother and the Petitioner (me). She said that they are not required to turn in with the DS230 and can be presented at the interview, but if I wanted to submit them then I could do so. I am concerned about the originals being available for the interview if I send them to the NVC. Any Suggestions? Also any suggestions on the safest mail carrier for sending AOS and DS230 info to Beneficiary for the interview????

Thanks,
Mike

Below is directly copied from the USCIS website. Please read the bold sections. If he mailed it by carrier or express delivery should be sent to a differnet address. So please read the instructions carefully. I am not sure if he sent it expressmail or not. Also if he sent it with I-485 there is a separate set of directions.

Petition for Alien Relative
Purpose of Form :
For citizen or lawful permanent resident of the United States to establish the relationship to certain alien relatives who wish to immigrate to the United States. Note: A separate form must be filed for each eligible relative. USCIS processes Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative, as a visa number becomes available. Filing and approval of an I-130 is only the first step in helping a relative immigrate to the United States. Eligible family members must wait until there is a visa number available before they can apply for an immigrant visa or adjustment of status to a lawful permanent resident.

Homesick Mother,

I sent the I-130 to the Chicago Lockbox which it was then forwarded to California. I know I definately did not send it to the local office. The only time dealing with the local office is for Biometrics.

Did he send everything to the Chicago lockbox at the same time? Maybe there was some confusion.

Dear Mike n Huong

Thank you for your prompt reply and sharing.
Regarding your case, when you filed I-130 for your stepchild, where did you send it? USCIS Chicago lockbox or USCIS local service center in your local residence? Could you tell me more details about that ? E.g. you're living in PA, and which USCIS office that you send I-130 for your stepchild.

Thank you very much for your help.

VietnamDS230 and Interview for Step-Son
Thank you for the information. I kind of understood the part about the household registry. When I submitted the previous forms that was the current address and they still own this property. I just don't if I should put the adress that is still registered and on the previously submitted forms or the new address.

As for the filing location you asked about. He should refer to the form I-130 Instructions. There is a section in there as to where to file.

Good luck on having your son join you soon, as I know the pain my wife is going thru missing her son.

Dear Mike n Huong

My husband (US citizen) is filing I-130 for his stepson who is living in Ho Chi Minh, Viet Nam. However, I-130 of my son which was sent to Chicago lockbox was rejected and returned. They said this I-130 should be filed at the BCIS service center with jurisdiction at the place of my husband's residence, not mentioning exactly which office to file. As you two have gone through this procedure, please kindly let me know where to send the I-130 for my son (is it USCIS in Santa Ana, as he's living in Orange County, CA). He's also sent AOS file for me (I-130 concurently with I-864, I-765, I-131, I-864) and received NOA today.

Regarding your querry, as I've been living in Viet Nam for long time, I know that when a person changes house, he has to register to the local authority about address change, then a new household book will be issued for him, in which it mentions clearly about his previous registered address.

Thank you for your time and hope to receive your reply soon.

Homesick mother

VietnamDS230 and Interview for Step-Son
Good Morning to my Vietnam VJ Family,

I am at the final stages of filing for my step son who is living in Vietnam with my Wife's parents.
My wife moved to the US in 2006 via me filing a Fiance Visa.
We got married and are very happily married and living together.
Unfortunately at the time, her ex was unwilling to write the child quit claim.
To our happiness, he finally agreed to do so and we are ready to submit the DS-230.
Here are the questions I have:

In the appointment package instructions for Item 13 (Present Address of Beneficiary) it states to provide the address and phone number where he is actually residing, not addresses once used for household registration. So if you use the household registration address on previous forms and place the new residing address on this form, will this be a problem? My wife's mother will attend the interview with my step-son. They both reside at the same place which is a requirement. They are both in the houselhold registry book at the same address we used on the previously submitted forms. We just want to make sure if we put their actual residing address which is new and different from the one submitted previously, will this require a change of address or is this common in VN?

Also reading the required documents for my 9yr old step son is a Timeline needed?

Thanks in advance

VietnamStep-Son I-130
Good Morning fellow VJ Family,

I filed an I-130 petition for my Step Son living in Vietnam. The case was approved by USCIS and forwarded to the NVC. Paid all fees at NVC, filed the Agent form and I-864EZ. Got a response for checklist and missing DS-230. At that time we were waiting for a few documents from Vietnam. We received them and mailed the DS-230 to NVC. NVC stated they received the checklist on June 22 and they needed 6 to 8 weeks to review. I called this morning and to a great suprise I got the following message:

This case was completed on August 5th. Please allow 8 weeks for further Instruction.

I would assume they are saying it has been approved?

Could anyone please advise me on what is going to happen next? For looking at peoples timelines it seems people are getting the interview about 1 1/2 months after approval. When will we be notified of interview date and what method of notification? Also, when should my son get his medical? He lives in Hanoi and would need to fly to Saigon for the medical and interview. My wife fley there 1 month prior to interview and stayed there.

Thanks for any advice you can supply.

Hello My VJ family,

We are getting all required documents together for my step-sons interview. Unfortunately my wife's interview was about 4 years ago and she can't remember a few things from organizinf for the interview. Here are the questions:

Can you staple sets of documents together if the document is longer than 1 page?

Can you highlight specific data on the documents?

How should the originals and copies be organized? Should they be separated with 1 set of Originals and 1 set of copies? Or should it be 1 set with the Original and copy together?

Is a timeline required in a step-son case? If so is it limited to how many pages?

I think that is all for now.

Thanks in advance as your guidance is greatly appreciated.

VietnamMedical Exam
I am sorry for the confusion. My step-son and mother-in-law would fly into HCMC a couple days before the interview and get the results a day or so before the interview. For some reason I thought it took a week or two for the results.

What is needed to get the medical? Just the interview letter?

My wife used IOM. She had no problems with the medical there, but had proplems with interview prep.

Thanks for your help.
