Totally, there is nothing you can do so you might as well not get all worked up. Stuff happens.
Enjoy your coffee! I like watching the people there. I sit quietly, listening to my ipod and watch them bustle back and forth, I try guessing where they are going or where they are coming from. I'm a total people watcher..lol but not in a bad way.

My hubby and I totally do that too! Our last trip had many delays so I just sat there knitting my purse and watched people go by...way too much fun.

We couldn't get phone records either - cause I was in an apartment when my phone line was linked under the owner's name - so my name was no where on the bill. I always called my hubby - so we were without records for the most part..

I did bring MSN chats and e-mails though.. do you have any of those?

Yes and I am in the process of printing out 2 years worth of emails now.

Honestly, you don't need to print all of them! How about a selection spanning the length of your relationship?

Like flames said, Montreal rarely asks to see any of that kind of thing, but that didn't stop me from being prepared LOL. The first bill from when you started talking would be an excellent piece of evidence to indicate the start of your relationship, and it should also prove why you went the more frugal route with the Freedom plan! wink.gif

CanadaHas anyone moved their case from Montreal to Vancouver?
QUOTE (Nini & Bee @ Nov 18 2007, 03:10 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Awhile back they used to allow these kind of transfers, but now it's now extremely hard to get cases transferred from MTL to VAN. From what I heard, the only reasons they'll allow it is if you show residency within the Vancouver consulate jurisdiction (Manitoba and westward).

You can always email the MTL consulate to check though. You might get lucky smile.gif

And even then Vancouver has to agree to it. Lately they have been really cracking down on transfers.

CanadaShipping holiday gifts to Canada
QUOTE (Kathryn41 @ Dec 3 2007, 01:10 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
The USPS no longer offers a Parcel Post rate outside of the US, Cassie. The cost nearly triples unless the gifts are really small. I recently sent a 4 pound small box to my brother - (8' x 8 ' x 8') and it cost $26. I regularly used to ship things to Canada via USPS but no more. I'll be using UPS this time for my 20 pounds of gifts.

I've never sent through Parcel Post, it's always been Priority Mail International, so not sure if there were be much of a difference. I just checked the rates on usps.com and they seem about what I remembered them to be. smile.gif

I'm not a big fan of UPS or Fed-Ex, but if I have to use them, I go with UPS, it's the cheaper of the two evils.

I've never had problems shipping boxes from the US to Canada and vice versa. I am not sure how the changes in the postal rates will affect sending my Christmas boxes this year -- if there will be a huge difference in costs.

I learned to love hockey early on in our relationship. Just one more thing that we can do together. smile.gif

As for the cold part...my husband says "cold is cold no matter where you are". The 39F here is just as cold as the 39F in his part of Nova Scotia. Of course, he gets teased (good naturedly of course) about being a Canuck and living in the Deep South. "I s'pose you find the winter quite warm down here doncha?" Or "I didn't think a Canuck would need a coat down here, being we're so far away from Canada and all." smile.gif My husband wears a coat - our winters are pretty darn cold even if we are in the Deep South. biggrin.gif

Hehe my hubby tends to complain about when it does get cold here in Tulsa (currently hovering around the freezing mark) and says "I'm not moving to Nova Scotia, it's cold and snowy there" To which I reply, "Yes honey, but unlike Oklahoma, Nova Scotia believes in using neat things like winter tires, road salt, snowplows** and sweaters" tongue.gif

**I think Tulsa has 5 for a city of approx. 400,000. Seriously. When a weekend storm blows the city's budget for snow removal, it's sad. I just laugh.

LOL! Is Tulsa like it is here in Georgia when it snows? Here, one snowflake can fall and the whole city goes insane! The school system closes down, the local supermarkets (we only have TWO major chains) run out of bread and milk, and gas stations run out of gas. It's just too funny!

The cold in Nova Scotia is way different than here. It's a drier cold and to me it's easier to handle than the cold here. I've experienced winter (a week and a half at a time mind you) twice and it was not bad at all...at least to me. smile.gif

yep, Tulsa is soo bad dealing with ice and snow storms. Last year there was a pretty bad ice storm that basically locked up the city for days. It was so bad, people were using pool sand for traction because they couldn't get any trucks in to the local hardware stores with ice melter stuff whistling.gif the sad part was that there was a fire and they showed on the local news how even the EMS guys couldn't get their ambulances down the side street to get the injured people -- they had to get their gear in the back of a half ton truck and drive it in reverse down the street to the house. It was crazy.

Aye, winter here is different than home -- way more wind!

Mephys, Joel can certainly commiserate with you on the job thing. He has a degree too, and experience to boot but has that helped him so far? NOPE. He has a job, definately not doing what he's trained to do (Computer/Network Administration) but at least it's a job. He's volunteered for the school system's technology department here but no openings...at least not yet. Thankfully they were VERY impressed with him so there's hope yet. Still, some find it easy to break into the working environment here and some don't. I think there should be something out there to help new immigrants find work related to what they've done and experience SHOULD count.

Hope you find something soon...I can only imagine how disheartening it is. *hugs*

Hehe, I know this is a weird question to be asking on this forum but it is the only place I have at the moment to get this kind of info. Once my fiance (the Canadian) and I (the USC) are married, is there a way I can go about getting dual-citizenship? I know it's silly to think about after going through all this with US immigration, but I'd like to have the option of living in Canada if we ever wanted to. After the many trips there to visit, I've grown a little attached to the country. smile.gif

I don't think it is silly at all -- we plan on doing the exact same thing, as well as a number of us on this forum. smile.gif

I haven't received a letter like that from RBC, well not yet anyways. And I have had it in my American address for almost 3 years. They send me my monthly statement all the time no problems. I will be interested to see if I get one of those letters as well. RBC has been great to work with all along, I am sure if you contact them they can help you clear it up.

My parents deposit money in it all the time, maybe the next time I am home I will inquire and see if it would be prudent to have them added to my account.

Either you contact his company and get their HR/lawyer type people on the situation to figure out if he can work for them, or consider having him work for a US-based company once he gets his EAD. I'm not sure AP will do him much good for work purposes. methinks you need to do some heavy-duty research on that one.
