If there is no translator, then how this will work for new immigrants who knows little English as of yet. Also I can understand that for a new person, coming to the US for the first time, it would be difficult to understand the Amercican English at the airport. Lots of people also immigrate at old age with little or no English. How do they handle this? Would it help if I were to go back home & accompany my family coming into the US? That is, do they allow spouses to be present at time of interview at the Airport.

Normally, POE officer will ask just some very basic 1 or 2 questions. Only for certain candidates only, second level interview will be conducted. You, to accompany them is not necessary, but it is your choice if you wish.

Hi,

I have 2 questions. Please advice with your answers and/or experiences:

Q1: After the interview, the officer gave some originals back. In all the tiredeness & stress that comes with the embassy/consulate visit for interview, I briefly checked the originals & thought everything ok. When we came back to the hotel, I realized that all the originals were not returned. There are some definitely missing. Is there a way I can get the originals back? Should I email the consulate & see if they can mail it to me since the consulate is in another city from where my family lives & I'm already back in the US. Or do you think that these originals may be with the NVC & they have not send to consulate?

You should talk to the Consulate and get their response how will they return it, if they have.

Q2: Do we have a list of questions or experiences for the time when they interview at the Airport port of entry at arrival time? Do we need to bring any documents to show other than passport & sealed envelop from emabassy? Any other questions, process to review before hand? Do they have a translator at the airport as well?

I don't think there is a translator at POE. The questions they asked would be something similar to the interview time. Passport & Sealed visa envelope is good.

My name is Shannon and I recently married an amazing man who lives in the United States (I am Canadian). I want to move to be with him but I am looking into non-lawyer options prior to paying the fees for the assistance.

I thought I would be going with the K3 route but then I see the IR-1/CR-1 Visa and now I am confused (already :( ...)

I want to remain in Canada and work until I am legally able to work in the United States. I am looking for the cheapest and fastest way possible. It's really important that I am able to work and get a job as soon as possible as I will have some debt and my husband isn't in the financial position to cover his bills AND mine.

Does anyone have any advice and how to even begin? It's all so overwhelming... :(

Hello:
I have question concerning vaccinations requirements. I had all vaccination done back in 2006-2007-2008.
I went through a panel physician for immigration in October of 2008, in Nova- Scotia. He is no longer an immigration physician as I will have to do Montreal. Now the funny thing is on HEB-B , is some people say it is good for 5 years and another say 15 years? Which is it? Will my blood test that was done in 2006, still be good?
A problem getting an appointment for my physician will be impossible but an after hour medical clinic does all vaccinations. Also there is a pharmacist that does vaccinations a whole lot cheaper. Which would be better? Both give a complete record. I do have my green vaccination papers and titre papers from 2006-2007 and 2008.

IMO, you should present all vaccination records to this third party physician/pharmacist and they will analyze the anti-body for immunizations. If anything is needed, they will advise you. Then you can produce all these reports to the U.S Panel physician.

It takes around 2-3 weeks (even tho they say 6-8 ;) )to get a case# assigned and the NVC wont notify you. I suggest when getting ur NVC number to call, talk to a HumanTM and to give them yours&your spouses e-mails for further communication (it will be quicker that way!)

Hello. I know this info is elsewhere but some clarifications. I'm in the U.S., my husband of 6 years is in Russia. I've just received the approval for the I-130 and they're transferring the paperwork to Moscow (we had to leave London rather suddenly after 6 years). I'm just trying to get a ballpark idea of the timeline. We've received no further instructions, but should go ahead and do my I-864 and his police certificate and medicals, right? How long can I expect it all to take? Is the interview scheduled only after the embassy receives the police certificates or does he have to bring them to the interview? Do we, or rather he, need to bring proof of our relationship? We've been together so long I forgot about having to need this one day, and I don't even have copies of our various leases over the years on me, though I can show PDFs of our bank account and obviously wedding pictures from 2004. There are various emails over the years to landlords as well. Not so much to one another, since we were in the same apartment. We do have copies of leases in storage. Most of the people posting on the forums seem to be fiances or already in the U.S.; our situation seems to be a bit unusual. I'd always thought the green card app would have us going for an interview together, but now we've had to separate and he'll need to bring paper proof, right? Thank you!

Originals will be returned to the beneficiary "by hand" after the Conulate interview. When you fill it up the VFS document for passport with visa delivery, fill properly. Also, fill the address properly in the DS-230 too.

OK so some Dumb A** at NVC added my wife's first name and last name combined as Last name. So now First name now says FNU (First name unknown) and last name shows her first name and last name.

When I called the rep this morning she said it ok and leave it as is since her whole name is there. Also they combined my wife's home address line 1 and line 2 into same line.

Should I send a request to update this info? If yes then it is going to cause further delays at NVC?


IMO, you should correct at least name part. Address would be ok.

If you don't have relatives, please state so in the letter. RFE is to the petitioner (Not to the beneficiary). So, the petitioner can list the details of her relatives in the response to the RFE alongwith all other RFE responses.

What USCIS worries is bona fide marriage. So, it will be helpful if couple of your relatives write letters and include them as well.

The question is : Whom relative are they referring to ? Petitioner or Beneficiary ?

I ordered transcripts but they might take 2-3 weeks to arrive. I don't want to wait that long. I'm going to Submit 2009 Tax Returns, Current Job Letter and previous employer job letter which shows 2 years job record. Hopefully that will be enough?

State returns are NOT needed, only Federal returns.

Again, if you have tax transcripts, you don't have to worry about all other things, they are not needed.

You shouldn't get an RFE. I ordered transcripts for our AOS package but they didn't come in time, so I sent a copy of my 2009 return+w2s. I do not believe you need 3 years of returns, just the most recent year and the adjusted gross income from the other 2 years.

2009 tax return is mandatory, 2007 & 08 are optional. But fill out the income of all the last 3 years.

Hotzone, you can call IRS line to get all the tax transcripts by fax or visit local IRS office to get them, if the time is the constraint.

Also, 1040, its all schedules plus W2/1099 can replace the tax transcripts.

But I presonally prefer just to send only tax transcripts plus employment letter and this year's paystubs.

Certified copy is the extract from the issuing agency.

Original is preferred to NVC, but certified copy is fine too. However, consulate will need to see the original.

From now onwards, start collecting all the documents that reveal your true intention to find out a new job, such as resume postings, correspondence to the potential employers etc.

Just before her Consulate interview, send all to her. Also, ask her not to mention anything on this. If CO asks anything particular to your current job, then just "casually" mention it and provide all those documents.

yes when i filed last week, i was over poverty guidline easily. 33thousand a year and i was employed and everything is correct. i even got a cover letter form the employer.

are you sure unemployment conversation from the govt can be claimed as income? cuase this gets reported to Social security. Cause im not sure if im to file unemployment tomorrow cause i really need it at this point while i job search. a

lastly hopefully, they dont question anything cause of the time of my filing, i was employed.

unfotunetly i lost my job today. i have filed my AOS with NVC which was received last week with my employment confirmation letter when i was employed.

If i collect unemployment, would this effect my case? does the immigration find about this?

Or should i start looking for other sponsors?

Or should i not collect un-employment? do the NVC check the current status? or do they go by the tax records and employment letter i sent them and dont look further? my wife interview should be coming in one-two month.

Unemployment compensation is also regular income of the petitioner.

Did you already overcome the poverty threshold as of now in this year? While sending the AOS packet, you were employed and the info is correct.

i think the counter collection is collection of your passport with the visa sticker in it directly from the VFS office the next day after 4 pm i believe. that's what I did with my wife. she went for the interview in chennai (you CANNOT attend w/ her, btw - be prepared to stand outside for 3-4 hrs with all the other people in front of the giant tree and the bus stop - you'll know what i mean when you get there and see; make sure you click on my timeline and read the chennai interview review for all the gory details. actually the CO was pretty nice and chatty). at the interview, make sure your wife asks (prob not necessary, but ask anyway) after the CO says "you're approved!" that when will the visa be ready and if she can pick it up herself rather than have the VFS mail it out to you. The CO will say "everything should be ready after 3 pm or so tomorrow afternoon" (that's what he said to her when she asked). then rejoice that day and party it up! the next day afternoon, go to the VFS office in govindarajapuram (? forget the exact location, or is it govindapuram, i forget - anyway, you can google the exact address) and start standing in the line for the collection counter. once again, you'll see all the other folks who are also there to collect or have some form of bizness with the VFS already forming a line. there are 2 separate lines - one for men, other for women. your wife will stand in the women's. the counter opens at 4, i believe (at least it did for us and i dont think that's changed in the last 3 months). make sure you have your VFS receipt with you, as that's how they will id your packet. collect your packet and verify the contents inside - it's a large silver-ish plastic like envelope which will contain a welcome letter, a brochure, your passport and all the visa applications and all other evidence sealed inside a large brown envelope. this is the envelope you DO NOT open! you will give this to the officer at your PoE here in the US. the passport will contain a sticker which is the visa in one of the passport pages. that's your cr-1 visa.

I just became a US Citizen recently and I am filing I-130 for my wife.

May I know what should I put in File Number A in the 1st row (last column) in Form G325A?
If we become US citizen, is our Alien Registration number still valid? If not, should we leave it blank?

In your G-325A, you should enter your A# (yes it is valid even after Naturalization)
In your wife's G-325A, she should enter "N/A", if she has never got GC before.

I'm trying to complete i-864ez form for Affidavit of Support. Question #16 household size states in section (16.a) to count yourself and the person you are sponsoring.

Then in 16.b it asking to enter 1 for your spouse. What if the person you are sponsoring (16.a) is your spouse? Should I still enter 1 in 16.b.

So currently I have 2 in 16.a and 1 in 16.b. Please let me know if that is correct?

It is requiring value of adjusted gross income from last 3 years. I could not find my tax returns and transcripts won't be here for another 2 weeks. Can I enter value for 2009 only and send the form or are there chances for RFE?

You and your wife, so household size 2. Under spouse column if you are married, you can enter 0.

You need to enter all the last 3 years AGI.

Website will publish the interview dates for the next month during the middle of the previous month. Some consulates will do a final update during the 3rd or last week of previous month too.

Im a little confused with that Math. In Sep list there are cases with 708, however in Oct the last one is 704. There is no pattern! Mine is 729.


No worries. Here is the math.

708 in September created NVC Case# on July 27th
704 in October created NVC Case# on July 23rd

But 708 completed NVC very fast. 704 though entered NVC on July 23rd, they didn't finish NVC faster due to non-aggressiveness or RFE!

But you 729 was aggressive in NVC completion and you are early to mid November bird :star:
