Ricardo...I am confused. Your timeline says interview was on Nov 1st...did you have a 2nd one that made it take until Nov 23rd for the drop off? Just trying to get an acurate time frame from the approval/interview to receiving the Passport. Thanks

I know it could be confusing... Alllow me to fill u in. Parents had an interview on Nov. 1 they were approved however my MOTHER not carry her old passport that included her active US Visa so my mom was given given a blue_paper to return to the embassy with her passport on Nov. 23

Hello to All The VJ members and guests.

I'd like to know from those have had the experience regardiing the return of the passport that is dropped off after the interview at the local Consulate when one gets approved.
After the Passport is dropped off with DHL where does it travel to get the visa in the passport for travel? I just checked DHL's web with the tracking number my dad just provided me and something just did not seem right see below.

Origin Service Area: KINGSTON - JAMAICA
Destination Service Area: KINGSTON - JAMAICA
Shipment on hold

called DHL and said that there may have been an error with the true destination of the package and to contact the Kingston Embassy so they can contact the local DHL that is located within the embassy.

Thank you.

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionhusband visit

i have been married 8 months, that was the last time i saw my husband.I had a Consultation with a lawyer because i wanted to know if i was on the right road(track),i was advice by the lawyer that my husband need to come and visit me at least 2 times before my interview and if it is possible he should accompany me to the interview. i was told that my visa could denied because of the small about of visits,it send off a red flag that we are doing a business wedding.

Has anyone here been through this?
what was your result?
should i follow the lawyer advice?

i agree that is what married couples do - they will visit to fill that gap. Skype, email all that just carries you over but isnt major. based on your timeline you were just approved on Jan. 4, 2011 so go make a trip for Valentines... better yet tell him to come see you sorry. IF there's any doubt at the interview then they will simply asked to see/interview him and that would be his third trip.

Ricardo, it's paid at NCB - you have to bring the receipt to the embassy to be allowed in

Ok just wanted to clarify because you made it seem as if i was wrong when I said no payment of such is made at the embassy... the information was not inaccurate but insufficient.
RICARDO4EVA2MaleJamaica2011-01-14 16:43:00

This is incorrect, ALl K1 have to pay for their visa, it's a $350.00 fee.

Ok cool. So help me to understand. I made sure I said "at" the embassy however you stated that K1 visa applicants make their payments at a certain bank (ncb) and u referenced a link. Now... It is conflicting... So is the fee paid AT the embassy or AT the bank.

Thanks,
Ricardo.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionEmbassy Fees

Hello All

I'm a little confused about what fees my fiancé will need when he goes for is interview at the Kingston Embassy. Will there be another $355 application fee he will have to pay, or was that fee covered when I submitted the K1 and paid the $455?

Any help on this is greatly appreciated

There is no fee paid at the embassy unless missing as it relates to nvc/immigration. The only other fee is the fee that would be paid to DHL for delivery of the package which is USD $8.00 or $350.00 JMD (local)

US Embassy and Consulate Discussion14 days wait for the paper

Hi if anyone could give me their advice I would greatly appreciate it.

Just today my fiancé was cleared at his interview (February 1, 2011).

He paid the fee to have the last piece of paper he needs to get on the plane to be sent DHL to Montego Bay from Kingston. They say it will take no more than 14 days but to NOT purchase your plane ticket until you have it in your hand.

My dilemma is just timing and it would be easiest if he could fly out by February 17 or 18th. Would it be completely stupid to assume it will arrive on time? If I wait until it arrives in hand then I will have to wait another two weeks for the best plane ticket price?..(I hope that the 14 days isn?t suppose to be business days)??????

Any advice from anyone?

Welcome

If he's awaiting his visa then there's a High chance he will get it sometime between Feb. 8-10. BUT hey it's best to wait UNTIL it's delivered/ready for pick up.

** It's unclear when you say he mailed a certain document from montego bay to kingston.. this is to be delivered at the embassy..? Did he get an approved case pending the receipt of a certain document that was sent on after feb. 1, 2011? IF yes then dont expect a visa to be ready super fast.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionShould I extend NOA2 approval?

My case is past the NVC stage. It's at the embassy, just waiting for interview date. I'm filing a k-1 visa. Thanks.

That's good.. there's nothing that you can do then it's out of your hands.. at this time you are waiting to be contacted. If it helps keep in mind for those cases who were say approved in 2009 and just got their visas in 2011 or who will not get it for the next 5= years like those in the brother/sister or child of US Citizen who are over 21 category

The NOA2 expiring..? nothing for you to worry about. While at the NVC stage as long as you're in contact with them and one year has no passed then YOU ARE OK.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionTax returns for Interview

1)Do I have to sign copy of tax return if e-filed? Anyone with experience on this one? No
2)Can I block the first couple of digits of my bank info on tax return? It won't hurt

Why not just get the tax transcripts sent to you instead, much easier than trying to collect all the tax papers and W2s etc.

I agree that's what I used and will use.... but she said she didnt want to know.

First of all I'm not a he, I'm a SHE. Second, I'm not asking advice on taxes. I'm asking advice on presentation of tax returns for embassy at visa interview for my fiance. I don't want my fiance going to interview and they say I didn't sign tax return, when it was electronically filed. My banking information is confidential. There's nothing wrong with wanting to know if I can block it out. None of my questions are tax related. If you don't know the answer, then don't respond. What an #### you are!

be Nice.

It would be great if someone would answer the OP's question.

Do copies of the tax returns need to be signed?

I have the same question. It would be much easier to just sign them than request a summary. However, since they were electronically filed, is this appropriate?

By the way, I was told to have a complete copy of the taxes by someone I trust to know what they are talking about. He told me to make sure to include all forms, schedules, W-2's, and 1099's. I don't think a summary would even come close to that.

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionco sponsor with jamaican tax return

Hi, once again VJ, so blessed to have this community.here is the deal my co sponsor did his taxes in jamaicabecause that is where he was working in 07-08, so my question is, do you think those tax returns would be acceptable by the US government, or would he still have to file those back taxes in the US? because that is what the CO is asking me for, his 07-08 taxes.

thanks all!

There is a tax filing requirement in Jamaica..?

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionpetitioner and interview

I am just wondering how critical it is for the petitioner to be at the interview? I am planning on going down a week after the interview and staying for a week after he gets his visa approved. Just too much money to fly down for one day if there is no bearing on whether or not you go to the interview with your beneficiary.....does anyone know if it affects the outcome whether or not the US citizen is at the interview???

Nope it does nothing.....! Please click on the link below and let us know if that helped. (reviews about the embassy and letting in the petitioner)

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionWhen can you start gathering things for packet 3?

I know people say to go ahead and gather things for your packet 3 so you save time but..If for example we got the police records and the medical examination now..And get our NOA2 2 months later, that leaves a 2 month gap in those records when you send it in. So how early can you start getting these?

I would say 2 months prior is good enough.. dont know how long the police clearance issued in Canada is valid for though. You can get any missing shot records now.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionAre tax Returns really needed For completeing I-134

Hi, they gave a blue slip to Vett for not having her tax returns for 07 08. I sent nattoy my co-sponsor's taxes for 07 08 09 and W2's for 10 and I marked out the social security number with a black marker. Nattoy said they were giving out blue slips on the day of his interview for people also not having enough far back taxes. It is confusing becuase the embassy checklist only says last years. I think if you use a co-sponsor you will def need atleast 3 years back. Nattoy also said that in window five on his interview( the person who goes through your paper work and takes out what they what) That about the only thing that the person took was my co-sponsor's tax papers.

That is not so Nicole. if a cosponsor is involved the 3 year tax doesnt kick in. Matter of fact the last year of the tax return is all that is required.

Correct the embassy will keep ALL the paper work which is sent to USCIS.
