Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI-751 August filers, 2010
Please add me to the August filers' list. I've just mailed the packet for my wife from Switzerland where we're temporarily located with permanent address in NJ. I hope it will reach there by Friday. I couldn't get return receipt from DHL but I was told I'll be able to see the name of person in trace and tracking on DHL's website. My wife's green care expires on August 26th but we had to wait due to several variables however I'm glad it's finally out and now hope the process will go smooth. Packet is sent to Vermont service center.

Thanks, MR_S_P.

It's strange how they work. I wish they had a better tracking system.

I will call 1-800 number if I don't hear from them in next few weeks.

Thanks again!!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionOctober filers
Congrats! MR_S_P.

MR_S_P, I'm sorry if I'm being rude by asking you this, but could you share your ideas of why it took little longer?

My process is taking longer than other December filers and I'm desperate for any answers.
I think my documents were pretty solid and not sure why it is taking so long.

Thank you in advance.

Again, Congratulation Mr. SP

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussioncase updated today. Confused. Pls help!!!
I just had issues today with USPS. I got the tracking number from USCIS and it stated card delivered this morning at 9am. 1pm rolls around still nothing, so I am leaving my apartment to go to local postal office, and lo and behold, who turns up? Turns out he scanned the letter before he left his depot this morning. Needless to say, I was a happy camper, although I did give him the beady eye for messing with my emotions. Green card in hand, and am one happy guy. Good luck all.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI-751 Package. Here's what we got. Anything to add

Hello everyone. My wife and I are beginning the process of removing conditions on GC in October. We recently moved from Dallas to NY (sold the house there and rented in NY) and we're not sure if this move a month and a half before we file I 751 will raise any unfounded suspicions.  I've been unemployed since June 2012 when I finished grad school and my mom passed away from cancer this spring across the ocean. It's been a couple of hard years and we decided to move for a change (also not many photos in these past months of mourning).

We compiled a list of what we have so far and are looking to see if we missed anything. Would you add anything else or take out? Too little or too much? Looking for some encouragement here...of course this is just to make us feel better or worse (depending on what scary comments we get).  We thought the Adjustment of Status is stressful but it seems this is not any easier.

Thanks.

From the cover letter written by my wife:

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionMy Biometrics Walk In Experience - Varick St. New York

Thanks for sharing. I read other threads of similar nature, where the LO was completely empty and yet they bluntly refused to accept an early walk-in. Yet there are many other LOs, who does it without any issue. May be it is good to open a thread listing all the difficult LOs for the benefit of others.

I guess these people (the ones you faced) take pleasure in throwing their weight around - we have to just pity them.

I will try to post in some other thread as well. Didn't seem to find the right spot of it, but I could place it in AOS forum as well.

Good luck with your case. I hear the CSC is much more efficient than VSC.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionMy Biometrics Walk In Experience - Varick St. New York

Wow, sorry to hear you had to go through this.  Somehow it's human nature for some that if you work for the gov't you can be a complete jack*** about it and get away with it or something.  I've been to the DMV enough times to make that conclusion and as much as I always give people benefits of the doubt I can't help but judge tongue.png

When I called USCIS for some inquiries the automated system said something along the lines of USCIS strive for great customer service etc.etc.  Not sure if that applies to ASC's? tongue.png

But with that said, customer service is lacking in many industries and I have seen complete jack***y behavior in many non-gov't locations only because they work for some big companies...

I would probably call up USCIS at some point and ask them if they received your biometrics - they should have records of them in their offices when it's received.  The worst thing that can happen is probably if they ask you for a redo.  Your evidence is already in the hands of the USCIS so not like the ASC ppl can tamper with it tongue.png

Good luck!

Thanks for the tip. Just seems to be the luck of the draw when it comes to dealing with authorities. I got to pick the jack*** in the bunch. I wouldn't have walked in at that location if I had not read good things about it online. So by acting like a jack** that guy actually proved that you should never trust blogs or forums, only official gov. information.  Job well done, sir. Job well done.

I'l take your advice and call USCIS in the next few weeks rather than show up at the original ASC center I was scheduled for next Friday and ask if they have my paw prints in the system.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionMy Biometrics Walk In Experience - Varick St. New York

For giggles you can read what happened to me here: http://www.visajourn...ost__p__5360118

I'm taking my kids to Dallas for a couple of days over Thanksgiving; we're going to go to the Perot Museum, Dallas Museum of Art, and maybe the Aquarium too. Should be interesting.

Fun. I mean the biometrics experience, not the museums. Kidding. It seems there was lots of southern hospitality at that center in Fort Worth. I got some NJ NY mix of hospitality, something worthy of the Sopranos.

Don't forget all the art and all the fun at NorthPark Mall.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionMy Biometrics Walk In Experience - Varick St. New York

Sadly I experienced similar treatment at the ASC in Fort Worth, TX. Some kings really enjoy ruling over their particular fiefdoms and don't let you ever forget it.

In retrospect it was a ridiculous scene but hopefully he can't screw around with whatever file I'm in... and if he does I hope the middle finger print pops on the screen.

Oh and the personal reason for the walk in was that I was/am planning to drive to TX and see my wife's folks...as a way of remembering my mom who passed away in Spring and her birthday was Nov 20th (my appointment was for Friday, the 15th). Nothing that couldn't be changed but I thought a decent enough thought for a walk-in especially after reading about folks with the most random (legit or not) excuses.

Cheers from NY. I always liked Fort Worth more than Dallas (shhh, don't tell my wife).

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionAfter a Greencard is granted. What are the things i need to comply and Do?

Hello... How are you.

I was a conditional resident here in United States based on marriage to a US citizen. I need to remove 3 months before my conditional permanent resident card will expire.

Does any body who process the same thing with me? or knows about this who could help me how to process this, and the papers that i need? forms that i need? i need an idea from you and your idea is such a helpful to me on this process. I hope you could help me with this and I would appreciate it very much. thank you and may God bless you and more people you can share the knowledge that God has given to you.

Have a good day!!!

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussionabandonment of conditional visa
I'm not too sure of the laws on this but I found this on the USCIS website:

Maintaining Permanent Residence
You may lose your permanent resident status (green card) if you commit an act that makes you removable from the United States under the law, as described in Section 237 or 212 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) (see the “INA” link to the right). If you commit such an act, you may be brought before an immigration court to determine your right to remain a permanent resident.

Abandoning Permanent Resident Status

You may be found to have abandoned your permanent resident status if you:

  • Move to another country intending to live there permanently
  • Remain outside of the United States for more than 1 year without obtaining a reentry permit or returning resident visa. However, in determining whether your status has been abandoned, any length of absence from the United States may be considered, even if less than 1 year
  • Remain outside of the United States for more than 2 years after issuance of a reentry permit without obtaining a returning resident visa. However, in determining whether your status has been abandoned any length of absence from the United States may be considered, even if less than 1 year
  • Fail to file income tax returns while living outside of the United States for any period
  • Declare yourself a “nonimmigrant” on your tax returns

You might want to consult with a Immigration Lawyer

You can start filing ROC as long as you are within the 90 days of expiration. You might have a interview so you might want to hold off booking a ticket to travel.

Im so sorry for your loss...yes that was a lot to go thro...
I shouldnt be complaining for something so simple

I try not to talk about it other then what I say here,
since no one can realy do anything to spead things up and all it will realy do if you talk about it how you realy feel
is create unessessary stress ,
we had enough stress the last 1 1/2 years that will last us a lifetime ( we lost 4 family members motherinlaw grandma and 2 of my brothers ) and all while we where in the middle of buying our first home , yeah stress
but we are ok now and this pulled us even closer ,
so if USCIS wants to take its time with my file well i have time too :)

In my case its the opposite...
My husband sees a silver lining on every cloud...however dark it is!!! ..he is the eternal optimist!!!!!
He says im paranoid for no reason.....easy for him to say but Im the one that needs my GC.
People born n brought up here take it for granted.
Everytime i bring it up which is about 8 times a day he asks me to stop and not get all crazy!!! but I cant.

Lets wait..atleast we have some company to vent too....

My husband is more relaxed about this than I am and he is the one the green card is for :crying:

i wish the same thing for us too Susan! This is driving me crazy

FYI, September VSC filer GabachaYucateca received RFE on 2/2/10 and she filed I-751 on 9/4/09....
So, their is still possibility to get RFE like 1 month later... :(

Yes I noticed their RFE...but I did send all the important evidence already and dont have much else to send.
Tax transcripts for the last 3 years
Credit card bills
Phone bills
Medical insurance cards
Cards from family and friends addressed to both of us
A few photos
Joint bank account statements
and some other stuff I cant recollect....what else can i send.
We dont own a house so no papers in that regard, but can send a letter from our landlady.
I wanted to send it that time but we had to get it notarized and she was undergoing surgery so couldn't come to the notary office.
But for my AOS I did send a letter from her indicating that she knows both of us and that we live in her rented apartment.

So if they do send a RFE Im not sure what else to send.

so candelari, how many times have you logged into the USCIS online and checked your status??? heheheheeee I did it a million times before I accepted that it is not a prank!

I hope the weather is not causing too much delays for everyone else!!!

I log into USCIS 2 times a day once at about 10.30 am and then again at 5 pm...but its always the same old INITIAL REVIEW....now Im scared that they lost my papers.....a lot of people after me have been approved.
If they had to ask for RFE they would have done it already...right???? or are they waiting for the 6 month mark to ask me for more evidence..i sent everything possible.
NOA dated Nov 4th, FP Dec 10th and Not a touch or update since dec 11th after Finger printing.....
I am starting to lose my mind now.....

I didn't read the entire treats... No, no need for info pass, all you will get is " you are still in 6 months time line, no further action required". It is stressin but not so abnormal for USCIS to make you wait for no reason, I expect you to get it soon. You may be one of these people who already got approved but never got online update. Your mail may suprize you (I hope) cheer up lady, it will happen and it will happen soon....

No nail biting here...as a kid i was told that my fingers will swell up and fall off so that scared the life out of me and I never bit my nails since grade 2....
As for grey hair...yes the latest is 1 grey eyebrow..lol....

No info pass here...not till i cross the 6 month period.....

I do not think there is any rule for taking Infopass..i am not sure though.. it has happened many times that some letters get lost in the mail and USCIS responds with a BS letter saying you did not send this did not send that did not attend interview so on and so forth.. I am not saying that this indeed will be the case , but if I was in your shoes , I would book an Infopass and just check.. does not hurt...but thats just me..you may have a different way of thinking

Staying off from VJ will not bring in your approval sooner , it will rather help to gauge the timeline , what I have seen there is a general trend of 10 -11 weeks wait from your biometric appointment date

Also when you check your case status online what date does it mention there ? in my case although my notice date is 7th december 2009 , it says /"on 10th december 2009 we received.." I think you have to follow this date rather than just the NOA date

I think you will get approved soon

This Thursday it will be 11 weeks since my Finger printing.
Yes past experience with AOS tells me Immg will have some excuse of mailing out letters and me not getting it.
The very first NOA I got at the start of the AOS process was according to them sent to me 3 times..i never got the 3 letters and finally after calling them a million times got the 4th copy of NOA...so that explains a lot.
They sent my papers from Nebraska then to CA and finally to national benefits center ...however I wasnt on VJ so i never knew what was happening and wasnt really worried...and it all worked out pretty well.

For this Adjustment of Status process, I was told over the phone twice that an NOA was sent but I never got it till i called and pestered 1 lady on the phone and she was nice enough to send it again.

When I check my case status, it says we received your blah blah blah on Nov 4th.....INITIAL REVIEW crapola....

Susan , you and all other November Filers will get approved soon , if it helps , take an Infopass appointment to check as to what is going on with your case..but I think you and all other November filers will hear good news soon

Its too soon to take an infopass...dont you have to wait 6 months?
I think i need to stay off Vj...coming here and seeing approvals makes me anxious. if i didnt come here I wouldnt be so worried and let things take its course atleast for 6 months....like I did for all my previous paperwork....
