Every few years, the fee for Naturalization and/or Biometrics and/or Passport goes up by certain amount. I know that the entire process of becoming a US citizen is too expensive, but I would do it sooner than later. I'm not really too concerned with a few hundred dollars if and when they increase their fees. I just gave them $500, why should I go and give them another $595 right now if I don't really need to? A few hundred dollars will not make or break us at all. And, if and when they make an announcement that they are raising the fees, I might even have some time to get an application in before the price hike if it's worth the savings. Thanks~ I wouldn't bother. They just updated the processing times to may 2011, so we're still within their processing time (which is more than 6 months). looks like by the time or before we receive the new GC, we would be eligible to apply for citizenship!!! Yes, we'll be close. I'm planning to just wait a bit and get my money's worth and just use my 10 year greencard for a few years minimum. I think I'll apply in 2014 or 2015 before the next election and right before my Canadian passport expires. I know I'm in no rush to do more paperwork AND pay another fee!! Did you apply for the greencard in 2010, but not physically receive it until Feb 2012 because you were abroad and didn't receive your mail from the US in that timeframe? If you applied for the card in 2011 and just received it in Feb 2012, you should've contacted them about the date error as soon as you received it. If you did in fact apply for the card back in 2009 or 2010, and just haven't lived in the US, you are not fulfilling the requirements of residency. You'll need to file to remove conditions 90 days prior to it expiring. Biometrics will also need to take place in the US. So you may need to move up your "move" to July or August. It is out of your hands... The law enforcement will prosecute because there is a chance that the child could be endangered. His mistake was hiding, if your friends can find him, let them tell him there is a warrant for him and advise him to get a lawyer. Then turn himself in willingly on good effort and conduct.
