IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - March 2014

That's not my wiki, it's Darnell's. Looking at the history date, it hasn't been updated since August 2013, so no, it's not up to date.

1. DS-3032 = DS-261, DS-230 = DS-260

2. Yes, I believe this is still recommended.

Added!

Yes, send it all. Everything that was sent to the IRS should be sent to NVC.

You can't bring original tax returns anywhere as those were sent to the IRS. The only ones you can possibly bring are copies wink.png

It's up to you if you include additional evidence in the IV package or not. This is typically only recommended for MENA countries though.

Added... for now. Please create a timeline or I'll remove you.

Updated.

And yes, it's taking quite awhile to assign case numbers. If you looked at the spreadsheet, you can see this for yourself.

That's not enough information to tell you if you need a joint sponsor or not. Are you currently working? If so, are you above the poverty line for your household size?

Since you quoted INSIDE a quote, this didn't show above, but you mentioned your service center was CSC, not NBC. I'd like to point to both your profile and timeline that both show NBC as your service center. Please update if California was indeed the correct location.

Saylin,  Am a medical physician by proffession and my 11 & 12 tax returns were way over the poverty guidelines ...

though i have not been working since past one year - so would i be needing a joint sponsor for my spouse.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionRemoving Conditions evidence question
The more evidence you have spanning the last 2 years the better.

We plan to send a range of months over the past two years, and then also got a letter from the bank that shows the date we opened the account and what our average monthly balance has been over the past 2 years.

I'm pretty much done with my package. Just need to copy a few more things and then scan it all and photocopy myself an identical package to keep. I'm going to mail mine out tomorrow :)

I'm looking forward to getting this done so I can take a nice break from all the paperwork!

Do you remember me from the k1 visa time????

thanks for your post. However we dont have a life insurance...

Hi! I do remember you! Can't believe it's already been 2 years!

A few more things I just thought of might be joint health insurance plan information and 401k beneficiary information.

We're also including a letter from the bank that lists when we opened our accounts together 2 years ago and that we've held a balance the entire time. Another item would be a credit card, if you are an authorized user on any of his cards, you can get a letter from them that says that and a range of statements from the past two years.

The only thing you might want to consider (if you have it) is a copy of any life insurance beneficiary information as I read that is considered a strong piece of evidence.

Otherwise I think it looks good!

You're not eligible for a greencard if you don't live in the US. You'll need to maintain a US address if you intend to keep residency (aka a greencard).

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionAOS and ROC Related Questions

Thanks for the input! :)

My passport was stamped from Nov. 2010 till Nov. 2011 though, which probably means I will have to re-apply for another travel permit or make an info-pass appointment to clear the issue. May be it was an IO mistake... But at the time I thought all AOS Filers go through the same thing.

You don't have to reapply for a stamp or travel permit. Once you have the greencard, that stamp on your passport is meaningless.

Once you apply for ROC, you'll use your expired greencard and the NOA1 for the I-751, which states that you may travel and continue to work for one year.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionFirst year in US - can I travel internationally?
I'm assuming you have a greencard? If so, you're free to come and go as you please! You just need to maintain residence in the US, which equals being in the country for at least 6 months/year.

You would use your passport and then show your greencard when coming back into the US.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionCalculating the 90 days
My 2 year conditional greencard expires on November 9th, 2011. We were going to send our package on August 9th, which we considered to be the 90 day mark. However, we realized that since there are 31 days in August and October, the literal 90 day mark is August 11th.

Does it matter? Should we wait until the 11th to play safe or are we fine to just usu August 9th as our date?

Thanks!!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionCruising with Extension Letter

Tens of thousands of people take a cruise from the U.S. every year. You are not the first one doing it with a Green Card which expiration date has been extended, and you need not to worry about this.

I totally agree with you. I'm pretty laid back, but my husband was a bit antsy, so I booked an INFOPASS just to be safe and they stamped my passport for me.

:)

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionCruising with Extension Letter
For those who have travelled with their extension letter on a cruise, when you had to show your greencard to the ticket counter before boarding, did the cruise terminal crew know what the extension letter was?

I know that when I travel by plane from Canada into the US they ask for my greencard to verify my status. My husband is worried that the staff of cruiseline for our upcoming cruise is not going to understand what the letter is and give me problems boarding.

He's worried because as many of you know, the letter is not worded very specifically. It says that my greencard is extended, but it doesnt't really specify the dates or anything (although there is a date on the letter). We're also cruising out of Tampa, FL, which doesn't not have a customs area and customs officers actually come onto the ship to check all of the non-US citizens documents. We're not so much worried about the border agents as I'm sure they much have some experience with the letter, but we're more worried that the agents that check us in might not understand.

Anyone ever used their extension letter to cruise?

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI-551 Stamping needed due to EMERGENCY - Please help

As other have stated you do not need the stamp, however it is not true that they won't stamp your passport just because the extension letter. Since there are plenty of stories here of how people were asked to go into secondary inspection or simple were held longer at customs because the immigration officer was unfamiliar with the extension letter I decided the stamp in my passport along with the extension letter so I would minimize my probability of this happening. I made a infopass appointment in my local service office and the lady who helped me was very happy to give me the stamped, I was in an out in 10 min. She even told me she encouraged anyone that was going to travel to get the stamp. I'm not sure if that's just the police of the service center in Miami, but I do know it's possible. If you're like me and likes to have all your bases covered I think it doesn't hurt to give it a try.

Yes, I also got a stamp, mainly for travelling and uncertaintly and they gave it to me. It was slightly reluctant, but he still gave it to me.

Can't hurt to try, the worst they can say is no and then you just use your NOA extension letter. Better to be safe than sorry.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionDenied Application for Driver's License and State ID While I-751 is Pending
Have you guys tried making an Infopass appointment and getting a stamp in your passport instead? I had to do a lot of travelling and so I got the stamp due to the letter being a bit vague and just not wanting to deal with any hassle.

The officer at my InfoPass reluctantly gave me a stamp... again it was reluctant, but he gave it to me.

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussiondelay with time
The updates are a benchmark, not really an exact timeline. I would check out some of the processing times from the current threads in this section. You'll see that there are both June and July filers from Vermont being processed right now, so it's just a matter of time. I also sent in my ROC in August and am still waiting.

If you don't get your card before 9/1/12, you can make an Infopass appointment and have them stamp your passport with another extension.

I think August filers will start seeing approvals in the May/June timeframe so we're almost there.

Nothing we can do but be patient.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionGreen Card - change back to maiden name

Great! Thank you so much.

Anyone know if going back to maiden name can be an issue with the immigration folks? Or is it no big deal?

You need to legally change your name back and show proof. When you got married, the marriage certificate was the proof. If you get divorced, you can probably use the divorce certificate. I don't believe you can just flip flop between names. You should do some research into how it works in your state.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI-751 August 2011 Filers

Hello everyone,

I'm a long time lurker here, but now i need some help from you guys who got RFEs. I'm freaking out since i thought I have included more than enough evidence. I guess i give you my basic info. USCIS received my i751 on 08/26/2011, Got NOA on 09/07/2011, biometric on 10/05/2011, and yesterday 06/06/2012 i got a RFE. On a section of the letter it states, "..... This is not enough evidence to prove joint financial responsibility or joint residency during the span of your marriage." I sent in joint filed taxes for 2009-2010, medical insurance of both, joint credit cards, Joint bank account (1 bank account, we really don't have any more at that time). We are still students at an university, same university. So we lived at my parents house, and its close to school(10min drive). I didn't provide a lease/rent cause we don't have it. Cell phone bill only shows one name even thought that will definitely show the span the ENTIRE time of marriage. We sent in 3 notarized affidavits from close friends.

I think the only thing i did wrong was only sent in only the recent statement (1 month) of the only bank account, rather than the entire span. But i will send that in, along with 2011 tax returned, new credit cards, new joint savings account( but we recent just opened that back in April 2012). Titles of the car( we just switch it to our name since yesterday after we received the RFE notice, since my parents insurance rate is MUCH lower than ours.) Is that sufficient enough? I'm not sure what else i can include. I have in my hand a copy of my parent's house deed, maybe sent that in as well along with a written letter from them? Do i need any more affidavits? Will those last couple thing help since we did them rather recently? Please help, I am literately pulling my hair out from this RFE.

Sunny

All of this will help. We don't have a joint lease, but supplied them with a letter explaining why (I didn't have enough credit to be added when we first got the apt) and also included a span of our joint account statements over the past two year. A letter from your parents stating you live with them would be good. The car title will also help.

Have you made any other large purchases that show both your names on a receipt? We showed our wedding ring receipt since it was a large amount. Also, if you have been on any vacations together, if you have an itinerary with both your names that might. All the things you mention though will help.

Do you have life insurance? That would be good to include as well, but I'm guessing as students you might not have that yet.
