I like to give myself these little challenges...because i'm so stubborn! I've done the same with other things as well. Because of my blood pressure, I just stopped using salt as seasoning and limited a bunch of other things. I also have this rule.. must have at least 8 glasses of water before I can have a diet coke. Usually I end up having just one diet coke around dinner time now. Big difference. Splenda is a great choice (or so we think) but I honestly think that sugar substitutes increase hunger. At my heaviest weight I did not eat all day long... it's still my greatest challenge to this day. It's not just about less calories and more movement. It's about the kinds of calories your'e putting into your body. I eat a lot more when i'm 'on program'.. just much differently. My mom was about 40 pounds overweight when I was growing up but she's also a WW and has lost 40 pounds and had it off since 1990. She's a rock star! Like you, i'm extremely busy with work and the kids and the house... taking that time to be sure my diet is in check and making sure I exercise isn't always easy but it makes such a world of difference and effects every other part of my life! That's what keeps me doing it. I really could care less about the numbers now tho. I just want to be healthy and feel good... I want to be that grandparent who's out running with my grandkids... not sitting on a rocking chair on the porch. Thanks for the well wishes. I certainly hope it's soon too. Even now my online USCIS account says pending, last (and only) touch 22nd February! That happens at CSC quite frequently. Not once in a year have I heard it happening at VSC. Desenchantee... I know you weren't trying to be mean ...but I am a woman who has lost more than 200 pounds. I have to pay extra special attention to my food and exercise in order to stay fit. It's not just as easy as not eating burgers for me...don't think that has a lot to do with being in America. Has a lot to do with genetics. I understand not being attracted to 'big girls' but It's when you start putting criteria like that on your 'relationships' that they are doom to failure. I would love the man I am choosing to be with regardless of his size or shape or anything else. suz, good for you girl! I know the skim milk is gross to me too but eh. I found I was drinking a lot less of it! I'm actually drinking my coffee from home this morning with splenda (which I also try to limit) and a bit of french vanilla creamer. Yesterday I hardly ate anything at all ...but boy did I make up for it in drinks! Recovering today! I heard from a little birdie that if you include a 'wedding date' in your info that you send back to London they will try to get you home by then. I'm sure you could come up with something. This trip is going to do you both a world of good! Ooo the baby will be able to hear you from outside the womb pretty soon (23 weeks)! Well i'm up and about to work out and then spend some time cleaning and washing bedding. I have company coming from Maine either today or tomorrow to attend my family's annual Luau tomorrow! One of my closest friends and her fiance... we do an awful lot of giggling when we're together (shocking I know ) so it will do me good to spend some time with them! You need to call NVC 603-334-0700, 1, 5 to talk to someone and they can tell you if your package has arrived and if/when they sent it out to the Embassy. It usualy takes just a couple of days to get to the NVC and it's often sent out pretty quickly. After you know it's there you can track it to the Embassy using DHL. It wont state it's 'yours' but it will state a shipment to Uruguay. Here's a quote from Nich explaining how... QUOTE My package left NVC on 08 May 2008. This is what I did on the site http://track.dhl-usa...?nav=TrackByRef In the "reference" box, I put EXP 07 MAY 2008A (notice that's the day before they said it left) They may generate their reference and do the packing the day before pick-up because EXP 08 MAY...didn't work. Below in the "shipment pick up date range" I put May 8 2008 to May 8 2008 (I wanted to see things leaving NVC on only May 8) If you put in a range of dates, you'll see packages show up that are halfway there that actually left a couple of days before yours. Then click the red arrow that says "track" There were three pages of shipments, so be sure and click "next" which indicates if there are more pages. I noticed that there were 67 shipments leaving NVC on May 8, but each was to a different country (no duplicates) which tells me that they combine petitions going to the same Embassy. Looking at details on some shipments, the London package was 3 pounds and Manila was 40 pounds, so there must have been many petitions from Manila going together. I did the same steps above for the previous day (May 7) and there were 16 countries, but they were all different from the May 8 countries. Thats 83 different countries in 2 days, with multiple petitions in many boxes! It kinda gives you an idea that many more petitions are being processed than just the timelines we stare at here on VJ. I still use all of them! You dont need to give up DD's just use skim milk ...it will be tough to get used to at first but you will ...and once you do you wont be able to drink cream anymore. For a while I added powdered french vanilla cream to it for just a few more cal's. I was on a coolata kick (tropicana) for a while until I went to the website and found out how many calories they are! Haven't had one since. Same thing with their hot chocolate. So exercise sets me on course for the day. Just seems that no matter how much I don't want to start..i'm always so pumped when I do and it just sets me up for good choices the rest of the day. Helps relieve a lot of frustration as well! Endophins are awesome! I visit my forums at g2g every day and the people there are just awesome...like all of you. Many have been on this road with me for a decade so they know me and they know when I need a word or two to keep me going. Come post with us anytime! I'm starting a new challenge over there very soon. Journal your food. See what you're eating.. even though you think you know.. there's something about putting it on paper. No BLT's (bites / licks / tastes) ..those have calories too! Plan out your meals... stay balanced...and eat throughout the day. Fruits and veggies are very important to your body. Choose high fiber.. lower fat foods and don't get stuck in a rut of eating the same things over and over. Most of all... EVERY DAY IS DAY ONE! K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	APRIL '08 Vermont K-1 Filers	hi guys this is Russ, just a quick update on my way to bed, i am sure kim will fill in any details i missed , got my visa in the mail today, on the second day after the interview, was very exciting for me, more so then the interview because now i know there is nothing between me and getting on that flight next wednesday and being in my baby's arms by wednesday night , with all going according to plan *knocking on as much wood as i can find*,...... so close. after the grand opening i jumped on line and promptly woke kim up i was a tad impatient. After a year of waiting i think i can afford a little impatience . So you will have to forgive her if she seems a little vague ok guys last day of work tomorrow, then i am all steam ahead for getting ready for my flight. i hope everything is all going well with you all. They did look over all the paperwork and asked Russell a bunch of quesions about our relationship (as they should) but nothing really arduous or taxing. Just conversation really. One thing we went over and over for months was the police report from AUS. Russell worked there for 9 months in 2006 and I was under the impression that he needed a police report because he was there for more than 6 months. Well, he mailed the Consulate early on and asked them and they said that he did not need one...only if it had been over a year. I asked him again several times over the process just because it kept coming up in my crazy mind but he had that email saying he did not. It's also noted on their p3 (information packet) that it's only needed if you lived somewhere over a year. Anyway, the CO asked if he had it. He said no and noted the email and their own paperwork. She let it go but did say that he should have had it. Ugh! It's very frustrating to me that in something so very important that people are not on the same page and that this could have really slowed us down had she chosen to wait for that. Especially since we checked and double checked. I guess you get that everywhere but ...still frustrating! I'm sure Russell will come chime in and give you his report and I know he'll be filling out an Embassy review for the benifit of others. So, we're both kind of in awe that this part is done with. Soooo many years of long distance communication, tens of thousands of dollars in travelling all over the world. The heartbreak of being denied entry. The year apart after living together for so long and this crazy process to get through. We can hardly believe that this time next week i'll be getting ready to go pick him up for good. mama Nich, so glad things are settling in for you now. The rest is just fluff and stuff! omg people... less than 7 hours until his interview!!! I can hardly believe that after all of these years and all the heartache we've suffered that we are finally at this point. Neither of us is nervous... more anxious and excited to be done with this part. I think that comes from at least thinking we are very prepared. I also got a call this morning for Russell from a headhunter about a geologist job in our area and found out from my ex that my tax returns (which he initially screwed up) are finally in as well! Just in time! Let's hope all this good news continues! I have plans to celebrate with friends tonight so I certainly hope so! the rest of you are awfully quiet... come make yourselves crazy with me? It's really just a matter of more forms, marriage certificate and, of course, $$$ Hopefully you got a vaccination sheet at your medical to send along with the I693??? If not, you will most likely need a letter signed by a civil surgeon here in the US stating you've had them all. Although, some people seem to get through without that. We plan on having everything ready to roll and send off the Monday after we're married...October 20th. It seems pretty basic actually and shouldn't be a problem...especially for us K1's. Just be careful where you get your information because the process is different depending on how you're adjusting. I'll be happy to share what I learn as I go. Should we stay here or move to the AOS forum? Raff... email them until they give you an answer...better yet, have your fiance do it too. Afterall, he is the US citizen and it is him they are suppose to be serving. Brian, I hear your gripe. The process can be so difficult because the Consulates are so different, there is so much misinformation from those who are suppose to know. The system needs a complete overhaul! Krystle, you fill out 1 I134 and include your total income. Every source of income just gets put on the same form. As far as the interview goes, it has everything to do with the Consulate..each one is very different in how they handle the next steps. So you're going to want to ask specifically to those who have gone or are going through Rio. Normally a package 3 (information packet) is sent out including all the forms you will need... you can find most of them online (normally better quality than you will get from the USEM anyway) and get t hem filled out ahead of time. They normally request that you wait until you have p3 to schedule your medical but all you really need is your A# that will be listed on your NOA2 (I797). Again, check with others who have gone through Rio to find out just how it's all handled there. Be sure when you go to your medical that you get a signed vaccination sheet to use at AOS. It will save you time when you are adjusting status later. Kristen, i'm sure it's going to be just fine. It's sad that we almost expect another bump. My phone lines at home went completely dead last night which means no phone and, much worse, no internet! Noooooooooooo! As you know, I do a lot of my work from home not to mention it's basically my only connection to Russell. Just one more thing. Hopefully they will sort it today and i'll be back up and running. I suppose I can wash the rugs and furniture instead of working... I have this nesting instinct going on like an expecting mom just knowing Russell is coming home soon. Graham's experience was the very first I have heard of this in all my time here so my guess is he got the oddball CO that really didn't know what he was talking about .....just like our luck really. Hopefully it wont effect anyone else. Perhaps if you are concerned you can get in touch with the Embassy to confirm. We are still flying pretty high. Russell booked his flight last night and we got our get-a-way for Boston sorted as well. I will confirm with the JP tonight about officiating at both of our ceremonies. The first scheduled for October 18th. I can't believe the time has finally come! Russell is like a little boy on Christmas morning all silly and giddy with excitment...it's adorable really.
