So you should have it any time now. smile.gif

If I don't have the hardcopy by the time i'm ready to send the package next week i'll just scan it when I do have it and create a pdf that he can print at home since you only need a copy anyway. wink.gif If yours isn't there soon you could just do the same.

Hey all, how long does it take to get NOA2 hardcopy? I still haven't recieved

Jon, all depends where you live in relation to Vermont I think. How long did it take for the NOA1? I sure hope they're not holding the approvals up as well. I plan on sending out my package to Russell just as soon as I can make a copy of my hardcopy.

Well #######...I'm 12 hours late for the PARTY blink.gif

GO KIM GO RUSS

Pass the tequila. star_smile.gif Belly up the bar folks. star_smile.gif Drinks are on me.

Love ya Kim. heart.gif Congratulations.

mmmm tequila! laughing.gif Thank you mama Nich... for everything. smile.gif love ya back kind lady!

Sandra, how exciting for you!!! I'm glad you're moving right along. smile.gif

Thank you so much to everyone else. It really means a lot to be able to share our excitement with so many wonderful people who truly know what we've been through. It's not over yet folks! wink.gif But oh how much sweeter the process will be now that we can at least be in each others arms! smile.gif

I'm not sure how much sleep I got last night but I seem to have a permanent grin stuck on my face now. Russell didn't end up online until 5:30am est this morning so that's when he found out and nearly ran out of his house naked to share it with his family. laughing.gif Of course, I wanted to share it with him so I got up and we chatted a bit...he's walking around with an extra spring in his step and grinning all the way as well. smile.gif We're both just ecstatic this part is over with! I'm very well prepared for the next step... just need to have the avidavit notorized on Monday and put some other things together then wait on the Noa2. Russell will call for his medical as soon as we have our new case number and then he will contact the Embassy about expediting the interview (possible in NZ wink.gif ). Wont be long now!

Had another check-up this morning since my blood pressure was high. My blood pressure is down and so is my weight (11 pounds in 3 weeks!). wink.gif The doctor knows about our visa journey so she was thrilled for us as well and agreed that, even though it was ok, today probably wasn't the best day to check my bp. laughing.gif

Only one thing missing now.... SUZY... BRIAN... am I forgetting anyone???? I will hold vigil until I hear some happy news from you guys who have been so great to all of us along the way! wink.gif

Thanks again friends.

jer.... the Embassy in New Zealand told me that I need to supply last year's federal income tax return 1040, and proof of current income/ongoing employment. I'll also be including a copy of my 1099, a letter/contract from some of the people that use my services noting that it is an ongoing job for me as well as copies of pay checks from them. I own rental property and collect child support that I will add proof of that to the avidavit as well. Thanks for the congrats. smile.gif

Thank you Kristen & Alex. smile.gif

rofl.gif Joe! You always make me laugh! I appreciate your ummm 'stalker-like' attention to our approval! laughing.gif Bye Bye xin xi lan!!!

Jenni, it was more like a happy SCREAM and then a happy CRY and now it's in the form of a permanent smile! smile.gif

Suzie! Of course I was coming to tell you silly girl! Actually, I thought I'd just post it here as i'm not so much into the whole starting threads thing, but then I thought it a bit unfair that the April thread be full of posts about us so I made it seperate. wink.gif

Thank you milo! I hope that darn adjuticator got too much sun on vacation! laughing.gif

I'm just dying to talk to Russell. The poor thing is just so stressed out about all of this and I know he's at work now just dreaming of that approval! I wish I could see his face when he gets home and opens his email!

It's gross income and yes you are correct about the numbers. I have no idea why people who make way above ask... I guess everybody is concerned about it. Each Consulate is very different in what they expect to see and what they will pass on so your best course of action is going to be checking with those folks.

The higher fraud posts will scrutinize 'newer' relationships more than others. They're not supposed to re-adjuticate the petitions..but that's basically what they do. If you can be at the interview at a Consulate like Thailand..especially after only having been together once.. I would surely go! Even if you can't go into the interview 'room'... be sure your fiance carries your passport in to make sure the officer knows you're there. There is an entire thread dedicated to Thailand in the General K1 forum. Check with those folks.

Thanks for the well wishes. It sure is getting to be a bit much.

No clue why it's taking so long. There's still a small group of us April folks waiting and even a couple late March so who knows. Slow adjuticator??? Figures. I find it quite ironic... 10 year relationship... 3 years just to file... all the time we've had together.. and we're left waiting. Oh well.

S&D you can try the RFE option to get a real human being. My guess is they're going to tell you the same as the automated line but it's worth a shot. Do let us know.

Raff, if it's covered by your insurance there then i'd say yes. If not, it may just be easier to have them do it at the medical. Chances are most from developed Countries are good to go with their shots... most just need tetnus. good luck!

I just feel bad that we've waited so many years already... then having to wait for that stupid decree and even more years... it just seems so unfair.. but... it is what it is and me stressing about it even more isn't going to do any good. I already know what it's like to live with this man and I just want our life back... that is what's keeping me going! I know it's coming! I just hope it's very soon!!!!

QUOTE (Fernanda O. @ Aug 10 2008, 02:28 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I´ll tell you my point of view, if that helps. I´m the beneficiary and I´m from Brazil. Brazil has lots of problems and America might be a a better place to live in many ways. Lots of brazilians move to the US looking for a better life, and lots of brazilians do the marriage thing for a GC (though the most commom situation is actually paying somebody for marrying them).

But those are usually people who had a hard time in Brazil. I have a bachelor degree (my fiance doesn´t), a wonderful family, lifetime friends, and a comfortable life, a lot more comfortable than I´ll have with Joey on the beggining.

I think in Orlando I´ll be able to get a good salary quicker than I would in Brazil (being just out of school), but I wouldn´t think of moving away from all I know, my country, my parents, my friends, my language, for that.

I wouldn´t give up the dream of living 5 minutes away from my parents and having them see my children anytime they want. I wouldn´t give up walking on the beach with my mom everyday. I wouldn´t give up having my kids go to the same school I went to. I wouldn´t give up having a maid (hahahaha, I know, shallow, but common and cheap in Brazil and hard to get used to not having them). I wouldn´t take the risk of my kids not speaking portuguese and thinking about Brazil as a far away thing. I wouldn´t give up the afternoons laughing and enjoying the intimacy of a lifetime of friendship with my girfriends cause of a little more money. I wouldn´t give up knowing my best friend will be with me in 10 minutes, even if it is 4am if I need her to. I would´t give up my window with a beach view. I would give up brazilian barbecue, beaches, underwear, people, lifestyle, food, night outs, for living in America. I wouldn´t move to a country where people ask me if Brazil is in Africa... or Europe... or don´t even ask, even though they don´t know. I wouldn´t move to a country where most people don´t care about learning about my culture. I wouldn´t cry so very often just thinking of the possibility of never making such good friends as I have here. I wouldn´t be scared with possibilty that my parents are denied a tourist visa to see me. I wouldn´t be scared with the thought that if I ever break up with Joey, I´ll have nothing. I wouldn´t try so hard to move to a country that obviously wish I woulnd´t. I wouldn´t go through that stupid K1 process. I wouldn´t be scared to death when people are rude to me on the embassy. In fact, I wouldn´t take it. I wouldn´t give up family lunches on sundays. I wouldn´t give up calling America a imperialist ###### (hahahahahahah just kidding). I wouldn´t go somewhere I have nothing but ONE person, when here I have everything.
I could go on and on about things I wouldn´t do if it wasn´t for Joey.

I´m sure all the other foreign fiancees will have a list of things they´re not happy to leave, from people they love to everyday silly things that do make a difference.

So if we ever hear anybody say we´re after a GC, we can kick their butt!!!!

I´m sure there have being people who married a GC... But I think the risk the us citizen is taking is as big as the risk the foreign is taking, leaving everything behing.

Fernanda.. my life here in America sounds a lot like your life there in Brazil. smile.gif I'm sorry you will missing all of that... I can only imagine how difficult that will be for you. sad.gif This is the main reason Russell is moving here but we honestly hope to live in both Countries at some stage. Maybe that will be an option sometime in the future for you as well.

btw.. I know where Brazil is. wink.gif
Once you've become acclimated to the US, I think you'll find that we're not all imperialist ####. laughing.gif You will make some good friends, i'm sure. smile.gif

QUOTE (Wei&Shu(Joe) @ Aug 10 2008, 01:12 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I know how irritating that whole line of reasoning can be. I feel like some dp it out of ignorance while they truly care for you and some just to feel superior and hear themselves talk. I think we must remember that we live in a country where we've now been bombarded with the idea that no matter how irrational and unfounded your opinion may be it carries as much weight as reality. We now call that "fair and balanced", whereas it was formerly called "insanity." So many people seem to now feel that asserting ignorant positions as fact is the right thing to do.

I always feel like getting upset is just what they want from me, so I try to do my best to stay calm and not give them the treat they seek. Not that I always accomplish that! Sometimes it is just too much! When someone is attempting to trigger you, it is good to practice a response ahead of time and be prepared. To them it is a game and they have practiced. You should practice as well!

My strategy is to first admit the truth in what they say. "Marriage fraud is a significant issue. One must be very careful...and I was." Then I offer some facts (which you could research about your particular country). Chinese women in America have about the lowest divorce rate of any other group and that statistic contains a majority of new immigrant wives. So, you may wish to marry an American, that's fine, but the chances that your marriage will fail are much greater than mine... if you really want to talk about risks. Then to pretty much end the conversation, "I'm not sure what you know specifically about my fiancee, but please if you know something about her that I don't, I'm all ears."

That is usually followed by red cheeks and a reply that starts with a stammering, "Well, well, well I..." If I'm feeling generous I will let them stammer. If not I will add, "No really, did she try to use you to get a green card? You must tell me!" That usually brings the admission that they know nothing about my fiancee specifically, to which I can say, "Oh so this was a psychic reading you were giving me. You should have said so up front. Really, if I want a psychic reading I'll ask you! At this point you must make your biggest and phoniest smile, then casually move on to the next topic while the psychic reader licks their wounds.

Try it! It's fun. yes.gif

Kristen,

“He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would surely suffice.” - Albert Einstein

.... this person knows nothing of your relationship...as I suspect is the case with the rest of the ignorant people who make these remarks to you. They speak only to hear themselves and to make themselves think they sound important. I know it's painful and I know it makes you angry but the comments have no basis other than the bad wrap 'some' have subjected the rest of us to. wink.gif Perhaps a good comeback would shut it down quick.... 'well that's ok, your wife told me she only married you because she felt badly about the size of your manhood ....and you're still working out fine, aren't you?' ... smile...walk away. wink.gif Let it take nothing more from you.

Graham, very excited for you guys!

Gaura, I think you got some good advice from Nich. I'm not sure I would have them extend or change the interview date.... you're probably better off going to the interiew and leaving it pending until you can get them the additional documents.

Well another weekend is upon us without any good news or forward progression. *sigh* I think it's that much more difficult because we waited 3 years just to file the petition... it was sent out the very moment I was legally able to do so. The extra long wait is frustrating for sure, especially when those a month after you are being approved. It's just a roll of the dice I suppose and I've known that all along but it doesn't really help as you wait. Only 3 out of 20+ with NOA1 4/23 have been approved so I'm thinking our adjuticator is out on summer vacation for a couple of weeks... helps to expalin the disparity anyway. They best be back to work on Monday!

People like sara (estadia) surely do help me keep perspective. Sure, she gets frustrated but she is still here routing everyone else on as she waits her turn. She's still very young but I wanna be like her when I grow up! laughing.gif

Well off to get busy and keep my mind off what I long for most. You folks enjoy your weekend!

Kim, I am just thankful that you took the high road.

Alex, you got great advice ... call early morning or later at night to be sure to get a live person to help you. Chances are your petition is already off to the Consulate and you'll be able to track it using DHL. Good luck!!!

Nich.. welcome home. smile.gif when is 'Nick' flying home for good?? Thanks for the well wishes.. getting a little impatient over here!

No offense, but a couple of you sound like you found a good shoe store overseas ...that takes returns. devil.gif Whatever floats your boat tho. wink.gif

Graham, I was delighted with London's architecture and took loads of pics (errr from the top of a bus mostly because I broke my leg and was on crutches laughing.gif)! I have them online...I will upload some to my server for Megan and send ya a link. wink.gif Some of the people on the tube were just so rude! And the folks drive like madmen on those roads downtown! laughing.gif I've not been to Scotland...yet... but i've got a dear friend from Edinburgh and would love to see the countryside and castles there some day. Russell would love to go to Austria as well... might have made it had the VWP kept working. laughing.gif I know... so not funny! tongue.gif

Well... off to the office... and trying not to check email all day. Not sure my heart can take it!

Have a great Friday April. Happy things to all who wait! smile.gif

Way to GOOOOOOO!!!! I am so happy for you. But what I am most proud about is the fact that you did not give in to Jerry's conspiracy theory that your file was destined to fall into a USCIS black hole because of your previous filing.

Thanks for staying positive and not giving in to the dark side!!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations on all the new approvals!!!

I sent in my RFE today, easy as pie ! I hope it gets approved quick!

Hey here's a question for all of ya:

Me and Luis communicate in Spanish, it's the language we both speak perfectly so it works.

How do some of you guys with language barriers manage to communicate? I heard 'love' knows no languages (or boundaries), but I'm curious.
I'm a foreign language major so it interests me smile.gif

I'm studying the interactions of the indigenous people of Latin America during the colonización when the conquistadores made their first contacts with people who spoke another language, and trying to understand how communication was possible. Don't know how VJ can apply to that, but LOL, just curious anyway.

Also, FYI Peruvian Spanish and Puerto Rican Spanish are so different in so many ways. We use a lot of English words and in Peru they don't so we had the 'broccoli' incident that one time where I made a fool of myself. Or the hangear incident where Luis actually thought I was talking about actually hanging from something as opposed to "hanging out." So we have our own boundaries. LOL

I just take the u's out of everything he spells! laughing.gif Really, like you..even though we both speak English..it's a different kind of English so every now and then we come across something that we have to pause and wonder about ...explain...and then have a giggle about. And this after 10 years of communication. Although I have to say, one of my greatest attractions to Russell is his intellect. I just can't imagine not being able to converse with him easily.

So glad you got that rfe back so quick! Wont be long now!

Regarding the RFE... yes, you would think the government would want to fix that..and the issue regarding not enough spaces in the biographical forms...but noooooo, why reduce frustrations and workload???? That would just make too much sense.

Brian, I really feel for you. In all my time here i've never heard of this happening to anyone else. I do hope that, at the very least, someone with some compassion gets hold of your file and pushes it back through very quickly for you.

Oh Suzy, that's a tough one! I come from an extremely close family who actually all still live in the area. I think I even mentioned that I actually own the house that they all grew up in on the street named after them. Many of them also built houses on this street and still live here too. We call it the Amico Compound. laughing.gif Because I've known Russell for 10 years, my family already knew of him as our dear friend before we began our relationship. When my marriage fell apart it wasn't a big surprise to anyone that Russ and I hooked up. After he came to spend a year with us it was just as though he'd always been here and now my friends and family are looking forward to him coming home almost as much as I am. smile.gif Ultimately, my family trusts in my judgement. All that matters to them is my happiness. That's how it should be. wink.gif

So, here's my two cents for what it's worth..only because I know it would matter to me too... invite them and kill them with kindness. Let them see with their own eyes how much love there is between the two of you. If, after that, they still have comments to make (which it sounds as though they will)...they obviously are upset for different reasons and have their own demons to face. Then it's just about pity for them... and never you mind. wink.gif I'm so glad that was your RFE... it bothers me that they wont fix this!

laughing.gif @ the Norman Rockwell reference. We actually had a N.R. calendar in our home every year growing up. Up until my 20's we probably fit into that mold.

crs... the example forms (link above) really explain it best. wink.gif

Damian.. wth is 'er indoors'????? laughing.gif @ your comment to Raff.. a month less than yours! Up until a couple of weeks ago if you weren't approved at Vermont by this time it was cause for concern. CSC has always sucked. laughing.gif Don't get me wrong, i'm soooo delighted that they are equalling out with processing times but it is a little disheartning to see CSC'ers with my filing date being approved now...mostly because I dont think it's a case that they sped up..more that VSC just slowed way down. sad.gif

Raff.. sweetheart, you made my day!!!! Congratulations!!! I couldn't be happier for you and Michael. smile.gif I'm with you... S&D's turn next!!!

milo.. I see you lurking. wink.gif Still keeping our fingers crossed for our approvals this week. I just know we're in the same lazy adjuticator's box! As I lay in bed sick last night talking to Russell he said there was an approval and I said "it's not milo is it?". laughing.gif Yeah.. we're getting desperate over here. laughing.gif

I want to apologize for not being so upbeat yesterday. I was sooooo very sick for a couple of days...so much so that I could not keep anything down and could barely lift my head. I work for myself and i'm very busy lately.. I have a couple new clients that I could do nothing for... then Russell having his cell phone stolen...grrrr ya know? So after almost constant sleep since then I seem to be on the mend (knock on wood)... mentally and physically. wink.gif

Never did we think it would take 4 months to get through this part. I know, as well as anyone, how unfair the process is and it really is just our luck that we get stuck in the slow box but we were really hoping for a break since we had to wait 3 years to file in the first place. Well..apparently, we're once again taking the long road around and we're just going to need to find a way to deal with that the best we can. Stressing ourselves out even more isn't going to do us any good.

Besides... how can I feel too badly when there are still March filers waiting!??! We've probably got that same slow @ss adjuticator!!!!

Well hell!!! ranting33va.gif don't feel too badly Brian, that is the most common RFE i've seen in my time here at VJ. When people are wondering what their RFE is for, it's the first thing I advise them to check. I've checked my own form no less than 15 times since we filed just to be certain I checked it! You're right, it's worded and structured VERY poorly and something should be done about it. Good luck buddy, I hope it flys through for you!

OMG. I didnt check that off because I thought it was only for military personnel. Damnit that's probably why I got a RFE. LOL
I hope that's all it is then.

However, I am excited about being married this fall/winter. star_smile.gif

My SO has been a true source of strength for me. I know this sounds gay for a guy to say, but she really helps me stay focused on the truly important things in life. I was just hoping to have a more lavish wedding/honeymoon. But you know the great thing is that my SO will consider our wedding day to be the most special day of her life, even if we just do a small wedding or even a courthouse ceremony.

I told my friends years ago that I was looking for "bus stop" love. You know how you drive by the bus stop and you see a loving couple waiting on the bus. I would always think, "wow", that is such a pure and honest relationship. Heck, the guy cannot even afford a car, yet she loves him like he placed the stars in the night sky. Okay, maybe that makes me sound jaded or crazy. But I am so thankful to have found a my own version of "bus stop" love.

Brian

That doesn't sound 'gay' at all, Brian. It sounds like a real man comfortable in his own skin...and deeply in love. smile.gif That's the thing about true love... doesn't matter where you live, what you do..or what you look like. wink.gif It's just right. I'm happy she helps you find perspective. You're a great guy and i'm sure she is just lovely.

It just seem so unfair this RFE. I guess I was 'lucky' in that I had to wait so long to file that I saw others getting rfe'd for this. I followed those example forms like they were scripture and was able to learn from others mistakes. Of course, there could be something else wrong on our forms. *sigh*

Kristen, you can call DOS to see if the Embassy has received your file and/or if they've scheduled an interiew. (202) 663-1225 Press 1, then Press 0 You will usually receive a packet 3 and will need to send it back to get your interiview date but every Embassy works differently so your best bet is to check with Chile. The benefit of filling out the forms and having your documents early is that you can send it all back in asap and get your interview date.

Sorry Anastasiya...maybe this is common at your Consulate? Perhaps they just haven't put you in the system yet.

Raff, i've been thinking about you. I think our petition is in the bottom of the same box yours is in. Glad to hear Michael is calling. Sorry you had to part ways without good news... never fun. sad.gif

Well I was very sick last night, not sure why, but it's still there. sad.gif I also found out this morning that Russell has his phone (cell from the US that let us keep in touch all day/night) was stolen by some low life thief. So just one more thing gone wrong. I'd hope for some good news today but i'm tired of getting my hopes up.

The poverty guidelines can be found here

I read a somewhere on VJ that it is not required?

At most USEMs it is a requirement. They have to be sure the beneficiary does not become a public charge. You're their insurance. If you do not meet the minimum you can 'usualy' use a co-sponsor who would complete all of the same documents as you and provide all of the same evidence.
You can read more about that here.

What all is required with I-134?
Please help I’m stressed out now about this!!!!!

On this page read the section about what to send your fiance and it has a link to the I-134 form. Here is an example to help you fill it out. DO NOT use that form and just change the information. Download a new form to use just use this one for reference.

Take a deep breath, grab a cup of coffee or a glass of wine do some reading and then fill out the form. Then begin to gather the evidence you will need to go along with it. It's all spelled out in the links provided above and if you get lost along the way just search here on VJ and you are sure to find your answers. wink.gif

Past 5 and still nothing. Guess our adjuticator is having his/her summer break. sad.gif Soon. smile.gif
