K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	APRIL '08 Vermont K-1 Filers	If you go over the timelines you will find that historically it is not uncommon for any of the centers to go from processing in a matter of weeks to taking a few months. Vermont has always been the fastest of all centers but still we see fluxuations in processing here and there. We learned from a former adjuticator that those who process the honey-bunnies (k1's) are not the same that process other petitions. But who really knows if things have changed since then. Naturalization only makes a pit stop at the uscis and is handled more at the local service centers so I dont think that's what is holding us up. The H1's would make sense as the deadline for those was early April but again, not sure it's the same adjuticator's doing the work and past years haven't really showed a major slow down during this process so it's hard to speculate. Although, that's where i'm putting my money. It's really hard to even guess at what is happening because the process we find ourselves stuck in is relatively new. Up until mid-2007 there were more service centers processing k1's. After the rate hike and re-distribution of everything to just two centers last year there was such a backlog... new adjuticators hired... etc. This is the first year that there are just two centers now processing the K1's and they are both just over the backlog caused and onto 'regular' processing.... so it's hard to know what's going on. Everything we see and know historically is out the window. If the assumption that the H1b's are holding us up is correct, we wil probably see things speeding up before too long as they've all been chosen by now. Time will tell.... I like Igor's list too but the numbers mean little to me. Regarding the lack of NOA1's.... no clue. The people who process the petitions are not the adjuticator's... perhaps they are constructing a new system and we're the guinea pigs? I know how much it meant to finally get that petition sent out and to have confirmation that it was in the works. I certainly feel for those folks. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	APRIL '08 Vermont K-1 Filers	My guess, as it's been all along, is that the April deadline for the H1B visas slowed us up. Those are all decided now so perhaps they are finishing up which is why we've seen an increase in approvals the past couple of weeks. Hopefully that will continue for summer filers! Just my luck really. The only problem with that assumption is that the H visas come through each year at this time and it's not slowed the K1's down before... also I read somewhere that the adjuticators who process K1's don't process the H1B's...but who really knows? So many changes with the USCIS in the last year so it's hard to know for sure what's going on or what's going to happen with processing times.... I do tend to agree with you as far as some of those still waiting... perhaps an RFE or some extra scrutiny, but then you have to ask yourself why wouldn't they at least send out the request notice.... it's like torture for these poor folks. Dale got his in a timely manner so it makes you wonder. The whole thing is just such a ####### shoot. It could very well be that those still waiting from the end of March are just stuck in a box of the slowest adjuticator in Vermont. Wouldn't be the first time. I'm all for fairness and doing things in order... and i'm definately for CSC processing as fast as VSC. It's only fair really. Having been tracking all of this for almost a year now and through the backlog, I have certainly seen an abundance of uncertainties.... I guess that's why nothing surprises me anymore. I had a good long sleep in this morning after a long day in the hot 95 degree sun yesterday. We did a collection downtown for the 3-day in memory of a friend who died last year of breast cancer. She was just 39 and left her husband and 2 small boys. Keeps things a bit more in perspective, no? I do hope this is our week pip! I'd love to see them clear out the end of March / early April filers tomorrow.....and then have an explosion of mid April approvals..including ours...on Tuesday! I'm always so interested to hear the stories about how people met and the steps they've taken to get here. People don't take that into consideration so much when viewing your timeline. It certainly wasn't easy for us but we have done things because of 'the rules' that we wouldn't have done otherwise. I got to live in another country with my children, we've travelled all over the world, we depleted our savings. The wait apart is so excruciating ....but it's been a heck of a ride! I feel we have a much better base for our relationship than many couples have. Sure some of that just comes with wisdom and time but there's a whole lot to be said about the experiences you've had as well. This wait is hell but I know just how lucky we really are. If only my ex woulda signed those darn papers 3 years ago...or even just a few months earlier... we were living together for a year and a half and early on we planned on just marrying as soon as my divorce was final. Then he was denied entry...then I started reading. Last year the petitions were taking 6+ months from NOA1 to NOA2 because of the backlog and then in January they were being approved in less than a month. What a roller-coaster it's been! I have a few regrets, which i'm not so good with, but I keep my focus on moving ahead and not looking back. Although, after watching some of those fools on American Idol thinking they can sing I did ask my love.... I'm sure I have a cut of my voice somewhere i'll see if I can find. We used to go to concerts all the time (having a cousin in the biz is helpful) but it's not so much my thing anymore. I much prefer a lounge in my pool or a good hard run with good music in my ear now. Umm I actually have over 1/2 a terabyte of hard drive space almost completely full up of movies and music from every genre and generation. My love is HUGE music fan ...and a downloading fool. I host my own server as well so if we ever run of out space.... Awfully convenient, no? I do enjoy an ice cold coors light and perhaps a shot or two of tequila here and there ... although I don't seem to need it .... but I gave up the cancer sticks in the early 90's. I've noticed many mistakes like this at this stage and others have only had to call DOS and the USEM to have it corrected. I think it's harder because we know it's closer. When I start to feel like i'm just going to crumble and can't hold on.... I often think about that moment that I am able to leap into his arms after he gets off the plane in Boston. How in that moment we will know that we never have leave each other again. Even after 10 long years and all we have been through... THAT is the moment we have worked toward. The thought alone takes my breath away and fills my heart with so much joy I can barely stand it! In fact, our own EWOK posted about processing times for the Philippines just this morning. There is the doc verification and cemonar but I don't think that holds you up too long.
