T-Mobile USA Waives Call Charges to and From Haiti
Joey Samaniego, PCWorld

Jan 14, 2010 8:53 pm

T-Mobile USA, Inc. announced that they will be doing what they can to lend their aid in the wake of the magnitude 7 earthquake that shook the Port-au-Prince area on January 12. The company will allow current T-Mobile customers to make phone calls to Haiti free of charge. T-Mobile is hoping to help unite family members by enabling phone calls without charges retroactively from January 12, 2010, until January 31, 2010. And any T-Mobile customers will also be able to roam free-of charge while in Haiti.

President and CEO of T-Mobile USA, Robert Dottson explains that “Our company and our employees care deeply for our customers, and we know that many customers have been directly impacted by the disaster in Haiti. While our thoughts go out to those in Haiti who are suffering so greatly at this time, our promise is to help people connect with those who matter most. I can think of no better time to demonstrate this commitment.”

Additionally, T-Mobile committed itself to helping to restore the wireless communications infrastructure maintained by its partner networks, Voila and Digicel, that was damaged in the earthquake. T-Mobile will also donate wireless equipment such as generator equipment and cellsites.

Any cell phone user who wishes to help can simply text “HAITI” to “90999” to make a $10 donation to Red Cross. The donation will be charged to your T-Mobile bill. Don’t worry if you’re out of text messages for the month, there is no per-text fee for this service, even if you don’t have a text messaging plan. So far, Americans have raised $5 million for the Haitian relief efforts, surpassing the $4 million total donations made through texts that were raised in 2009.

Good Morning Yardies....I have donated to Yele and I am prying for the ppl of Haiti. I watched CNN & Good Morning America and cant stop crying at what I am seeing. With each passing hour its getting worse. It is so sad.

Well today was our big day and we were approved! Excited doesn't even begin to describe the feeling!! Everything went very smooth. 7:30 appointment, went thru the document check-in by 7:45 and were out the door by 8:15!

Asked my hubby when & how we met, when we were married, if he'd met any of my family. Asked me if I'd met any of his and if they were at the wedding. Asked me how often I come, looked at my passport, and we were done!

Hope all that had interviews today (and upcoming) have similar experiences. My thanks to all for helping us get to this point!

Congrats Sam & Rasta.....

how much is medical exam in ja

It all depends on if and how may shots your wife needs. The exam it self is $100 (us) I think. My fiance need 3 shots so it cost him $16,000.00 JA about $181.00 US

Good luck on your interview and good luck with the driving. I think that is one thing that I will nevery try to tackle...especially driving in Kingston.

I had to brave it and drive in JA. I used to drop Garfield off and pick him up at work and then I would take him mom to Falmouth to run errands. I also drove from Mobay to Negril a few times. Its no joke driving down there. That is why G is having a had time with driving here. He does not understand the speed limit and the cameras at the stop lights makes him nervous. I had to tell him not to go so close under the car in front of him to pass. He says driving over here is wrecking his nerves.

I second the luck on your interview -

I have driven in JA many times, although I am not crazy about it - On my first trip ever to JA, I don't know how we survived - we stayed in Mo Bay, and by the second day my friend and I were miserable - so we rented a car and went all over - Ochi, Negril, etc... - this was before the roads were fixed - we would pull up to the gate, and ask the security which way to where we wanted to go - we usually got told "Take a left" - and off we went, LMAO -

Congrats!!

Thanks Sus and good Luck on your interview Myjamwifey

Well still trying to catch up but wanted to thank everyone for their positive encouragement and Prayers ( Lawny I love you! :innocent: ) where my boys are concerned. Last night I nearly dropped when my oldest son told me he would sign the behavior contract I implemented for them and that he was ready to become a part of the family again. Praise GOD, it has only been almost a year and I had no idea where the light a the end of the tunnel was I had faith that the Creator would pull me through. I was so happy at that moment and although Motherhood always presents its challenges with a stronger family unit we can work through anything in the future.

This past year has been an emotional roller coaster from happiness with my husband arriving, disappointments with two miscarriages and turmoil with the never ending drama with both boys. I thank my VJ family from everyone still on the board to Yardies that now live on FB for always having positive words for me and keeping me strong with their own stories of adjustment and letting me know I am not alone! Each and every one of you Ladies have touched my life in a special way I want to say thank you ( perhaps with some FEVAH Haaa a joke mi a mek hush Dillon LOL :jest: ) for having my back and letting this board be an outlet for all of us going through the process.

I know yall were like where are the updates but let me tell you all that drama was so emotionally draining even to type it and some of you have seen the saga so you know it was a hot mess LOL ( although I need to chronicle it cause some people would not believe what we endured in such a short time) from the stealing from my Husband, :dead: pulling a knife on him, the late night fights with Baby Daddy, all the fighting verbal and physical , the Nino Brown from New Jack city episode in my living room, to my oldest the running out of the restaurant in the snow storm cause he just couldn’t accept my Husband and rather live by himself  …… I could go on and on. I just hope it’s over and we are only moving forwards not backwards. A good indication was last night he talked to me extensively about several reports he did on Haiti this weekend and he needed some pics of me and the family in Haiti to for his presentation. This would have never happened months or even a week ago so that is progress. It can only get better from here!

Ok part 2 of my weekend soon come

Philly im glad some progress is being made and I agree with you it conl ony get BETTER, Good Luck girl and we on VJ are always here :luv:

When my son came up we had him fly on Jetblue to JFK and the fee was less than that. I forget what it was but I know it wasn't $100. See if he can come up on Jetblue.

Thanks Dillon. I was trying for him to come on a direct flight to MD because I dont want to drive to NYC to pick him up and JetBlue does not come direct to MD or VA

I plan on doing a cookout for Steve since his birthday is the day after the 4th of July. He already told me he doesn't want a cake for his birthday... Okay yeah right in one ear and out the other since the kids in my family would have a bloody fit if there were no cake. As one of his presents Ive been gathering things to scrapbook for him so he can take a look at his journey to the US and what he has done since leaving JA, that way when we go visit home, he can share it with his family too.

Valentine's Day was his first movie EVER! So that was nice...

I want to share something with yall that he said but if he ever finds out I told yall Im in deep do do  He said I was his FIRST girlfriend EVER that the rest of the females was just bangin buddies, he never told anyone because he didn't want anyone to think otherwise of him... I just found this to be so sweet! (L)

They looked at me funny when I landed in JA, I gave them a look like don't even think about asking me nada.. Then appeared Steve and his friend! :)

MrsTee I like your scrapbook Idea and I love a good cookout. Even G said he dont want any cake. NO CAKE yea whatever.

My husband is the same way. Mich was asking the same question a few weeks ago. I don't know of anyone off hand. All the ones I know have all moved to ATL or FL. That's goood. I did the same to my husband the first time we went to NY -- he asked where we going, I said to the store, den he was like mi look like ediat it no tek dat lang fi reach di store. When we linked up with his friends in Queens they damn near lost their mind. We want to do Atlantic City this summer, if we have time. We have a voucher for Sandals Whitehouse that we need to use before the end of this year.

Times like this I miss NYC. I could get a cake easy and it wont cost me a arm and leg. I call this lady and she want $65 for a cake. She must have lost her mind.
