also realize that a CR1 case processed through the NVC takes about 2 -3 months. And then you have to wait for the interview again.

Just to throw it in

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresMilitary life is so unpredictable!
Hello again,
I just know that it was not possible for me to just accompany him. Maybe in your case it is different. I would really try contacting legal assistance. I also have a military ID. It doesnt matter at all. But the difference between you and me is, I WAS NOT on his orders. But when he talks to his commander that problem should be taken care of.

If you will be able to apply for a K3 via the embassy he is going to be stationed....I dont know. That is also a military thing. Again ask Legal assistance :)

And as far as it goes with your belongings...as long as you have his orders you should be good. But to make it 100% sure he should talk back with his commander of course. They know all that moving from one to another base procedure!

It looks like your case is kinda unique, since most couples live together in the same country at least, before they move to the new base.

Keep us updated what you figure out :)

Hi there Officer's Fiance :),

I am getting totally confused by this treat. Maybe you can clarify things here.
From what I understood you are not married yet. And as far as I know only his wife could be added to his orders. At least it was the case when my hubby got his last orders. I made the experience that it isnt as easy as you think to just be with your hubby, because he is in the Army. It sure helps if you are on his orders, but that doesnt mean that the military can take care of everything. What is the country he will be deployed to?

I would suggest that he talks to his 1st Sgt about it, since he might be more useful on that issue. But since you are not married yet, I dont know. They cant add you to his orders within a couple weeks, it usually takes a month and more. Be aware of that too. And the other thing make sure he tells his SGT that he will get married. My hubby messed that up. Then the army might be able to speed things up for you.

But it still depends on the country he is going to be deployed in.

Greets I.

just wanted to add:
You might also get assistance at his local Legal assistance office. They normally know how to handle those cases.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHow long are Spouse/Non-Immigration Visas Taking?

I sent an I129 Visa Application off to Chicago when I realized that our I-130 Visa will probably take 12-18 months. Has anyone sent their application to Chicago (that's where you send spouse <versus finace> visas) approved? If so, how long did it take and what did it entail?

Thanks!

hi newhampshire,

I hope you already filed the new petition for the K3. And maybe consider reading the IMBRA topic forum, since that is affecting K1's and K3's. The last two months there were not many K3's approved....maybe non at all. So it is actually very hard to predict how long it will take until your K3 is approved. I wouldnt count on any timeframe below 3 months, since there is a huge backlog at the MSC now.

No k3 visa approved here....sadly.

Hey isabel, I"m amazed your I130 got approved in 111 days. Is that normal? We are still pending..and we applied almost seven months ago.

that is a very good question. It knocked me down as well. Seems like we just got lucky cos our case went very quickly through Vermont, which usually is the fastest SC.

Wow, Isabel, you're the awesome one! Taking matters into your own hands and having a clear plan for the next while. You'll make a great teacher and come out of this a sane woman, with a visa, a diploma, and some chinchillas (?)

Looking at your timeline, it seems the I-130 chugged along fairly quickly. But you dropped the K3 fairly quickly. Did you base this on any anecdotal evidence? Or did you simply decide you'd had enough angst? What's your esimated time of arrival now?

 chinchillas are my pets :), I attached a photo. Well I need at least something to keep myself sane  . Otherwise I am going nuts . I dropped the K3 because I wanna be able to work upon arrival and I dont wanna have to worry about it anymore. I"d rather wait one more month instead of having this crazy emotional rollercoster all the time. I called my embassy and maybe they can do something for me. I need to call them back next Monday. Hm...my estimated time of arrival depends on what the lady tells me next Monday though :) . I keep my fingers crossed that she can do something for our case. Now I can relax a little. Since I know it is gonna be another two months (what I think) until I arrive in the US if everything goes wrong. So hey without having me worried about that stuff I am a human again . I love that feeling.
Hey and it WILL save a lot of Money.

There's nothing like helping others to pull yourself out of a self-absorbed state of worry and waiting. I just spent half a day shopping for a shut-in and visiting her. I didn't think of the visa once.

Some smarty pants should figure out a way to harness the untapped potential of visa petitioners who need something to do to take their mind off things. What a city we could build!

 you are awesome! I figured something out to keep myself busy. I decided to study for the TOEFL and GED. I love studying so its gonna be a good thing to spend my time on.

BTW we abandoned the K3 today. It is just totally stupid to wait for both, since the processing time of the K3 would almost be as long at the embassy as the CR1 takes to go through the NVC. So no way we are spending more energy on that. I can spend my energy on daydreaming and learning, since I was so smart and cancelled my flat and job by the end of July. Yea....never ever rely on what they tell you. :P

Isabel, you make me laugh. Just a couple of days ago, you agreed people should relax. May I quote you?

.. considering the fact, that some of us already received their RFE's per mail and returned it (two days ago??), how can you expect that they already work on that? Give them at least a week or two to sort things out. Remember there are only humans working on these cases, no gods.

Keep your pants on, girl!

Hi,
why doesnt she try to call her embassy? I did that as well and they expedited our process. I dont know if that will work for you guys, but if she wants to come to you to help you, she should get involved herself. Usually there are ways to explain your situation and such and sometimes it works out. Give it a try.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHow Long Does NOA2 fdr K-3/I-129 Take?
oehm, Didnt you ask sort of the same question a few days ago? I dont think things have changed so far. What is your NOA1 date for the K3? Can you add your timeline, so we get an idea?

If your NOA1 is on or after March 5th and/or with the old petition it will surely affect your NOA2. Did you file with the new petition? And since you have already posted a similiar question, i dont know if there will be anything new at all.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)The topic I have been waiting for :)

Congratulations! NVC went pretty fast for us. Give them a call in 3-4 days to see if they have sent your case on to Rio yet. Once Rio has it, you can email them to ask for your interview date. They will also send you an envelope of things with an interview letter. Good luck!

Thanks, I emailed Rio to see if there was anyway to expedite the interview date and they were extremely helpful. There was nothing they could do because the paperwork has not been delivered to NVC yet. Rio told me to give them a call once we have a case number and the package is delivered and they will be more than happy to accomodate us with a better interview date to avoid my fiance flying after her 7th month mark :). Thank you so much for the reply

Hello all, We just received our NOA2 and I have a couple of questions as the wait for the NOA1 has used all of my patience :). How long does it take for the NVC to issue a case number? What can I do to best prepare for the next 2 months? As always your feedback is greatly appreciated

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Few Questions Specific to Brasil
Hello, I have a few questions specific to Brasil and the that if anyone could straighten out I would be greatly appreciative. In regards to the “CITI BANK” fee that needs to be paid in advance my question is from what I gather I the us citizen and petitioner cannot pay this from US soil as it has to be paid in advance in reas??.. is this true?.. was a bit concerned as my fiancé does not live in a large metropolitan city but rather a smaller city within Bahia I did not remember seeing any CITI BANKS the two times I was their last year but I could be wrong ?..

Lost in the mail?? Just to be safe, call the credit bureaus (3 of them) and have an alert put on your credit. That way someone can't go identity thiefing and all that crazy stuff. Hope the stuff will eventually arrive, though. Sometimes it just takes a while. One time I sent a card to Javier and it took 3 months to arrive.

I don't know if it varies by service center, but I know Vermont had our file to the NVC in like 2 days. I would call the NVC whenever it's a week after your NOA2 and they'll probably have it...they may be able to give you your case number. You won't need the NOA1 at the interview, just the NOA2.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)I-864EZ Question
For those of you who have already received your I-864 packet in the mail, do they send you both the long form and the EZ form or just one or the other? I like to practice the forms before I have to actually do them and I realized we can do the EZ form and I would rather do that. Will they send that to me? Thanks!

I e-mailed our choice of agent last Thursday and still haven't received an acceptance from the NVC. Does it normally take this long? I was expecting to have it at least by today-that's 3 business days not counting Thursday. At what point do I call them? Thanks...

Ah, no wonder we can't get through with you lot calling 24/7..! :hehe:

LOL I just want to say that I've only called them since we arrived at the NVC in late May about 7-8 times. That includes the automated thing.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)I E-Mailed the Choice of Agent

I just spoke with the NVC because I was curious as to how this I-864 thing works. She told me that they just send out instructions on it now so as long as you know they have your payment, I don't see any reason to wait on it-go ahead and download it and send it now as opposed to later. She also said it was ok for us to use the I-864EZ as long as we qualify for it, which we do-I'll bet some more of you could use that form as well. Anyway, just wanted to let you know!

Heina,

I will be using I-864EZ as well. However, didn't the operator say we need the coversheet that they will generate? I know it's just instructions as told from other members but I still think there will be some sort of cover sheet needed.

Oh she didn't mention that. I suppose she just assumed I would wait until I receive the packet anyway. Which is actually what we're going to do since our 2006 taxes are still not completed by the IRS. You're probably right though-best to wait for the packet.

Did you submit the 2006 return though? I sent mine in although the tax return has not been processed by the IRS yet because of the ITIN delay (which I found out was issued back in May). I will be sending the NVC a copy of the 2006 tax return I filled out along with return transcripts from 2005 and 2004. I think the W-2 forms will be a key item for the current 2006 tax forms.

Yeah, umm, ok here's the issue. We did the ITIN too but me being a dumbass forgot to put his passport in the envelope when I mailed off our taxes. IRS said just wait until we contact you. So I mailed the taxes on April 16, it wasn't until June 18 that they sent a letter requesting the passport. So I sent that overnight and here we are almost a month later, still no word on our taxes, and to make it even more fun-I tend to forget to make copies of stuff before I mail it in, so yeah I don't have a copy of our tax return. I have no choice but to wait until they process the taxes (I guess I'll know that happens when I receive my refund check) and then request the tax transcripts. I'm hoping they might just might finish our taxes within the next month.
